Clipping masks and adjustment layers

If anyone can answer this question quickly I'll be eternally grateful. I'm having a problem with clipping masks does affect the planned layer any background color I have on.

For example-, I have some letters that I want to apply an adjustment layer map gradient. To only affect the text layer I oscillate between the adjustment layer and the layer to now the Option + click to get the double b + w circles clip.

When I cut my layer ad, I don't get my purpose. The only way I see the adjustment gradient effect is if I unhook my adjustment layer, but then this affects my ENTIRE background rather than the type.

Is there a trick to keep the effect of setting without affecting the rest of the layers no matter what background color I have? Setting gradients seem better to work on black only. The problem is that my original document has a red background, so I have TO fix so that the gradient does not affect my red background. But even on a black background, I have to unclip the ad layer to see the effect. It's weird.

Try it yourself and you'll see what I mean.

I could flatten my document and retrieve my type with all its splendour of effect and just import it into my original doc, but selecting and extracting type of blur would be a big slap on the head.

Thank you.

Test on a black background.

Something you might try instead to use a clipping mask is a selection of the layer of loading type and then adding a layer of the gradient map.

    I have several photos captured in similar conditions and have already adjusted one of the photos for my taste. I am a complete newbie and have just read layer styles and adjustment layers and did not them you use while editing. I simply clicked on the Image > adjustments and went from there. Would be really nice if there was a way I could 'redo' these adjustments on the other photos that I stupidly forgot precise adjustments I made. Is this possible? I use Photoshop CC 2014.

    Sorry but no, this is not possible. It was possible, if you had used adjustment layers instead of making the adjustment directly on the image.

    Using adjustment layers is the best way forward: it is non-destructive; It can always be changed later or even completely deleted, and he has a mask that allows you to restrict the adjustment on the only parts of the image. And it can be saved for later reuse...

  • Create a clipping mask and insert multiple Images, forms, blending options

    I am able to do this in Illustrator, but I try to understand how to do this in InDesign.

    In InDesign - after I created a custom shape (clipping mask) with the pen tool I drop an image inside the shape (CMD + D).
    However, I would like to add other forms or images in this clipping mask and set the blending options. How does this in InDesign?

    Thank you!

    1. Draw or make the mask of future cliping as frame
    2. All put together that you want to be in this context.
    3. Group them
    4. Move them to the location you want them finally
    5. Cut them into your editing table

  • Two questions - a clipping mask and color change in the Group

    Hello

    I have a file I rendered in Maya as a vector. I'm not that great with illustrator, so I was trying to speed things up...

    In any case, it appears all of the files have a clipping mask. If I unrelease, it shows a plain with a similar dimensions that is the original color of the object. See picture for before and after...

    In addition, article even says it's in a group. For this reason, I can't seem to change its color, and the separate button is gray... very confusing.

    Jaredlogprob.jpg

    To group or ungroup, you must first select the art.

    You can do this with a tool of choice or use the layers panel by clicking to the right of the circle of the name of the groups.

    Then disassociate will be available but it is not necessary to separate so deit if you double-click on the group with the selection tool black arrow he'll bring you back in the isolation mode of the group which will allow you to change the group, as if they were individual objects that are separating.

    When you have finished double click anywhere outside the group to leave the isolation mode. You will find this feature will be preventing them from making bald, because you him tear not all outside whenb group edition in complex projects.

    Regarding the change of color as already mention Nedopil > change color > Recolorier Art more or less the same kind of protection mounting which can save you aggravation in the art complex.

  • Clipping masks and opacity leaving hairline masks light

    I'm running a problem when you use a clipping mask or opacity mask in Illustrator CC 17.1. Either the type of mask leaves a contour slightly around the mask object, creating a noticeable pause in what should be a uniform background. A few details:

    I created a ring in 4 quadrants. Each quadrant contains objects/models which must be isolated from the other. Above the work of each quadrant, I stick it in Place a copy of the form of the quadrant including background colors and stroke are both set to none, the value of race field is empty, is not set to 0. Which meet the same color in the adjacent areas of each quadrant there is a slight balding. These are intended to be transparent, and I don't know why this is happening. When viewing as outlines, all vectors are overlap perfectly in my eyes.

    quadrants1.pngquadrants2.png

    I tried the same thing with simpler forms, as a test and get the same results. In this example of 3 stacked objects, I built forms using form Builder tool (top), mask clipping (the middle one) and mask opacity (bottom):

    mask-test.png

    As you can see, the results are not consistent, but there is certainly some weak lines in each case. The constructor of the form doesn't have a line between black shapes for a reason, but there is a conflict between the colours cyan, where hidden objects stacked meet. At the same time, it is the reverse for the 2 following blocks.

    I read the posts in this forum and others on what is a matter of anti-aliasing, it will not be printed with weak contours, but not all applications of this graph will go to print. I exported files, PDF and various other formats EPS files. I have not noticed any loose in a TIFF file but the library files that I provide to my client will consist of the vector and other raster such as png and jpg files that do not show the low contours. When I place a PDF or EPS in Illustrator or InDesign layout, the hairlines are so that documents sent electronically, unprinted, have these visible lines. They remain also when I place an EPS in Photoshop that is unacceptable for the construction of graphics for the web.

    Can someone tell me if there is a solution to make transitions smoothly between the objects hidden in Illustrator? Or this just an inherent flaw with Illustrator (or maybe my approach to strengthen these graphics)?

    dugost,

    There is nothing wrong in the way you work with masks.

    It is disturbing that you can see the hairlines in a PDF file, png, and JPEG.

    Just to try something that can be stupid: you work in points/pixels, and are the quadrants in integer values (you can see the W and H values in the Transform palette, with integer values for two opposite corner ticked of reference Points and whole)? If this is not the case, what happens if you change to get that?

  • Photoshop and adjustment layers

    Is it possible to import Photoshop adjustment layers for use in a Premiere Pro CS6 editing window?  This may open options for the color adjustment.

    No, not in the sense that you want to import. Adjusmtent layers on the front are really video clips (default black video) that are anebled to apply video effects from first to some hidden under clips. Photoshops effects nor their adjustment layer types are applicable to the PrPro media.

    You can import Photoshop layers, as highlighted the previous poster, but they are just treated as files separate image at this time. It's a good idea but...

  • Help with a clipping mask and text!

    shadow.png

    This was really frustrating me.

    Design of this logo at the mo - the circle is a form and the L is just type on a separate layer on top with the same color as the background. What I want, it's to make the cut in the circle so that it is essentially transparent, where I can place on any color background and L will mix it naturally without color cast of 'L' evolving.

    Any ideas guys? With the help of CS5. I'd appreciate any help.

    Hello

    One way is to put your text and circle in a layer set, then together the mix Options: custom to zero fill and Knockout at shallow depth.

    The layer that lies directly under the layer group appear throughout the text.

  • Grouping and clipping masks

    I just created a merry-go-round.  I create each animal separately and then combining them.  By far the most complex animal is the Zebra.  I created the strips by drawing lines that go outside the Zebra adjusing using the widths and - thanks to the wonderful of the forum, created a form of Zebra clipping mask.  Very well.  Now I would like al to group items so I can treat the Zebra as one object among others.  First of all, I'm doing the clipping mask group and scratches.  All well and good so far.

    before grouping, but stripes and clipping mask are grouped.JPG

    But then, when I bring together all the elements, the effect of cut goes, and the stripes extend beyond the Zebra.  I see that the clipping mask is always there, but the effect of the clipping mask disappeared.

    zebra after grouping.JPG

    Not very good.

    (Note: the same thing happens if I I do not first a group of the clipping mask and the scratches .)

    Frustrated (72 years) old-dog fearing that it becomes too too old to learn all the new stuff.

    There are two types of clipping masks. Object, it automatically creates a group. The second is a mask of base layer. This is not a group, but rather of all the objects on a given layer clips.

    That the second is the type that you created. But it cannot be contained within another group.

    What you need to do is create a based clipping mask object instead (don't worry, you can use the same objects that you already own. You must use the command object > clipping mask > make instead of the button in the layer panel.

    I try to get all the white areas of the illustration attached 'globe' to blow to the background color. I tried to make the whole thing a compound path, tried clipping mask and different combinations to scout ahead without success. The image on the right, it is what happens when I make a compound path. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    GlobeTest.jpg

    The easiest way, I think, would be to define the work of the white line as an opacity mask on top of the tan circle. Which is not a clipping mask, but does the same thing and it is much easier.

    Otherwise, outline the white lines and 'Unit' pathfinder tool, then delete out of the way (the circle), of the compound shape. That will leave the compound object appropriate to the clipping mask:

  • Create the work around plan group, unless there is a clipping path, and then create the work around clipping path plan

    Hello again everyone.

    I was able to work on a lot of this code to other people's questions, but I hit a snag in my if/else clause structure... I need to make a plan to work around each groupItem of high-level layer [0]. This part is cake... unless there is a clipping mask. Visible limits do not work when there is a clipping mask. So, I built some of the loops that browse the pathItems search the clipping mask and return the visibleBounds said mask. However, I can't find how to structure the if clause in a way that will create the plan of work around the clipping mask when one exists.

    I am successful to find the visibleBounds of the mask and the creation of the appropriate graphic board, but it is ALSO to create a work plan around the visible boundaries of the entire group. How framing an if clause to determine if a work plan has been done around the clip path already and therefore not create a second work plan around the visible boundaries of the groupItem together? I guess I would need some sort of function to determine if createdArtboardAroundClip = true and if so, skip this group...

    Thank you all.

    Here is the code:

    var aB = docRef.artboards;
    var docLayers = docRef.layers;
    var layer1 = docLayers[0];
    var groupLevel1 = layer1.groupItems;

    for (a = 0; a < groupLevel1.length; a++){
        var groupLevel2 = groupLevel1[a].groupItems;
        var vB = groupLevel1[a].visibleBounds

        for (b = 0; b < groupLevel2.length; b++){
            var paths = groupLevel2[b].pathItems;

            for (c = 0; c < paths.length; c++){
                if (paths[c].clipping == true){
                    var clipBounds = paths[c].visibleBounds;
                    aB.add(clipBounds);
                    break;
                    }
                }
            }
        aB.add(vB);
        }

    Oh sorry, I forgot that one.  I was able to view the image basically to see what is happening.  Okay, so I saw a problem, you have one of your straps closure irrelevant.   Your first nested for loop does not close where you want.

  • Can't make a clipping mask?

    Hello: Level: Newbie'ish OS: Win7 64 bit Illy: Cs6

    I'm stuck with a few steps in a tutorial

    Here is the link: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/icon-design/how-to-illustrate-a-stethoscope-icon/

    My troubles are at the stage #12

    Everything works fine until I get to the part where it says: "copy the Crimson circle and glue it to the front.

    ... first of all, I think that the copy must cover everything, right? At least it like that picture of the tutorials. Well, it does not cover, and it seems to stay in place.

    I look in the layers palette and you can tell that a copy was made and I look under Edit, and he said to the title of the cancellation: Undo Paste in front.

    I'm supposed to select the Crimson Circle copy then the mixture and then go to object > clipping mask > make

    Rather than run, I get an Error Message that says: "cannot make a clipping mask, The Top selected object must be a path, a compound shape, a text object, or a group of people.

    No matter what I do, I can't do a clipping mask in this way.

    Someone at - it ideas? I have read a lot about a clipping mask today and looked in the FAQ nothing helps.

    I'd be greatly Grealy appreciate all help.

    (If you have been affected by the Sandy storm I hope all is well with you, that you are doing better and that you stay warm. God speed.)

    Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post and for trying to help me.

    Copy paste the copied object in front of the selection before and that if there is no selection then forwards (at the top of the stack) in the layer highlighted or the top of the stack in the same layer if the option "Paste remembers Layers" is checked in the menu of the layer of the Panel. The tutorial is unable to say at this stage that you must deselect first object you copied or select the object you want to paste in front of, which in your case is the mixture.

    You cannot use an object as a clipping mask, and that's why you are getting the error. When you select a top-level object a regular path as the circle you try to stick to the mixture so the clipping will not work.

  • Help! Not available for actions in PSE13 clipping mask

    I have PSE13 and tried to run an action on it, and an error emerged saying "unavailable clipping mask" and the action will not work correctly. Does anyone know how can I fix? Initially, I thought it was because I have an enough space on my C: / drive so I did a LOT of space and still does not. I can't find any settings that I can pass by to available clipping mask or something like that as the tutorial for Photoshop shows.

    * SIGH *... I thought about it... I simply must have a flattened image before trying to perform an action. Well, I'll leave this here in case anyone runs into this problem.

    Good editing everyone!

  • Draw a clipping mask from the back/Above with applied?

    Hello

    Not sure if this question has already been resolved but I have CS6 and I always encountered this. In general, when I start a vector illustration, I tend to draw the outline of the object and use it as the clipping mask.

    Then I add details within the clipping mask by creating a new "paths/objects/etc" but the "'out of the back/above" feature does not work. " The new "paths/objects/etc" moves automatically to the top of the layer above the clipping mask, and I always have to drag in the clipping mask.

    Maybe I've done this wrong all the way through but its just something that I feel like I need to ask.

    Thank you!

    If the clipping mask is already there?

    In this case would want to try the isolation mode.

    Hello

    I have a picture, I created a circle on top of the image

    I created a mask with the transparency Panel, it's a clip mask and the image appears only inside the circle.

    My question?

    How can I have a white line around the circle?

    Thank you!!!

    Mauricio

    To add a line for the mask, do not use the transparency Panel. Use instead object > clipping mask > make. You can then select the mask outline and add your feature.
