• Help get the book of acsm files

  I bought books from Kobo for the last 18 months. I store all my books under backup on an external hard drive d/l then the social mobilization and then add books in my folder.

  Today tried to recharge my books as they were stored on an external hard drive was lost.

  I was unable to get the books with CMHA as E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER. This is yet the only laptop that were shipped.

  I tried a different id and Kobo has also tried to reset all files without success! ADE uninstalled, installed, de-authotised, authorized - no joy :-(

  You don't see details specific to your ID in the .acsm file.  The .acsm file is a token; Once you use it to download the .epub file .epub file is encrypted to your ID current and the server remembers the association between the .acsm token and the AdobeID.

  When you try to redownload an .epub from same .acsm file, the server will check your current AdobeID.  If it does not, it will give the E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER message you saw.

  To see the AdobeID from encrypted .epub file:

  1. Open the file as a zip archive.
     If you have a good zip as 7zip archive manager you can do directly.
     Otherwise, you must rename the .epub file in a .zip file to open it.
  2. Find the rights.xml inside of the zip file. probably of META - INF\rights.xml
  3. Inside this file, you will find a section that looks at urn: uuid:ff2ddc22 - eca0-46 c 6-a84d-xxxxxxxxxxxx
     It's the AdobeID.

  I forgot that the ID has been stored only in its internal form and not by the username that belongs to the ID.

  However, if you are on ADE2.0 you can use help/authorization information (ctrl-shift-I, cmd-shift-I on Mac) which will display the external name and ID internal.

  At least, you can check that way if ADE think you the good AdobeID for the book; But if you do not it will not remember the user name that you used.

  I don't know if the Adobe service are able to find the user name if you can give them this internal ID.

  I just downloaded an eBook with the .acsm file extension.  I have installed Adobe Digital.  When I try to open the download, I get an error message saying to check Activation.  My permissions are all set to the top if that's what he's talking about.

  Suddenly and without apparent reason, Adobe Digital Editions download. CMHA in my library files. When I drag the files in Digital Editions, I get the following error message:

  Windows:

  Close all applications.

  Click Start > run.

  Open, type regedit in the text box and press ENTER. The Registry Editor opens.

  In the left pane of the registry editor, locate the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

  Select the key of the follower.

  Choose file > export.

  In the export registry file dialog box, select the branch selected under export range. Enter a name and location for the backup registry key, and then click Save.

  Right click on the key to the follower, and then choose Remove.

  In the dialog box confirm the key deletion, click OK.

  Close the registry editor.

  Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

  Macintosh:

  exit the Adobe Digital Editions software.

  Navigate to / Users / / Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

• ADE 2 is extremely slow in the presentation of the ACSM files

  I bought a document that is in the format of the CMHA.  I don't know about this format.  ADE 2 appears to download the data and displays the pages, but is extremely slow in the pages of scrolling.  So slow they are useless.  Any change takes forever to accomplsh. I use an Apple MacBook Pro OS 10.8.3.

  I have no problem with reading all the ADE 2 "Getting Started" of the file that is unfolding as I wish the application to run.  I am considering the removal of 2 ADE and download it again, but am worried how that would effect the process of validisation.

  If you reinstall it shouldn't change validation/authorization.

  ADE is a way to get approval involved; If she's not bad

• Adobe digital and the .acsm file

  Hi jnf.

  ADE has sometimes its registration/activation confused and in a semi-autorise State.

  Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.

  Unfortunately, he then often misleading gives the error messages about what is wrong.

  I am trying to download a book from library & need a program to open a file for social mobilization.  Is there anything that I don't have to pay to clean my registry files?

  Just to add clarification:
  A .acsm file is an "Adobe Content Server Message queue." It can be opened by Adobe Digital Editions software.

  There is a Digital Editions 1.7.2 free installer that can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site.

  NOTE: Even if you have one software other than digital editions, such as Kobo Desktop, different eReader you can still receive a CMHA file when downloading an eBook. However, you must always install the Adobe Digital Editions software to download the eBook and then can be read and transferred to your eReader device.

• Wrong file download, library books can bring them on computer

  Is it possible for me to change it manually to the correct file name?  Is it possible for me to solve this problem without uninstalling and reinstalling ADE?  If I need to uninstall, it is possible for anyone to give me very detailed instructions, step by step, as I agree with the basic principles on computers, but not very good with this stuff.  I'm on Windows XP.  Thanks much for any help you can offer!

  Try to reinstall everything, uninstall it and see if that helps.  It should not upset your old books and settings.

  As you are on XP, I suggest the slightly older v1.7.2.  (In fact, the new version has so many bugs I suggest the other oldest for everyone.)

  It seems that your 'association'.acsm file with ADE has been lost.  In windows 7, click Start, then programs by default then associate a type of file or Protocol with a program.  Select the CMHA and change the program default for ADE.

• If I uninstall ADE, I will lose the books that already have on my computer?

  I need to use a different version of the ADE (from 4.5 to 3 or 4) to be able to open ACSM files.  Given that the 3 and 4 are versions earlier than 4.5, I assume that they will not be installed unless I have uninstall 4.5.  If I do, I lose the books I already have on my computer?

  I have United Nations allow ADE by using Ctrl + Shift + D.  Then I re-authorized ADE and it can download the CMHA files.  Thank you.

• ADE closes unexpectedly, everytime I open an EPUB library book

  I just downloaded Adobe Digital Editions to read an e-book library on my Mac. I created an id ADE as well. When I open ADE, I found the help EPUB doc ADE and had a quick look. This document opened very well with just a double click. Then I double-clicked the file of SOCIAL mobilization, that I had downloaded my library. ADE has created the EPUB file and added to my library ADE - and crashed immediately, only to give me a ' ADE quits unexpectedly "dialog box. I opened ADE once again and saw that the book from the library was in the list next to the help guide ADE. I click right on the book from the library and selected 'read '. The program to close unexpectedly (well, step as unexpected as the first time, from my point of view, but perhaps twice as frustrating).

  I tried three other things, without success:

  1. double-click on the file of mobilization in my downloads folder. This reproduces only my first failure: ADE reopened, showing a second copy of the book - but crashed immediately. I then looked in the 'Digital Editions' the created program folder and saw two versions of the EPUB. (Each is 5 MB in size, compared to the CMHA 2 k file).

  2. I opened ADE in my Applications folder, then select the file > add to library > and chosen the EPUB file. This added the book to my bookshelf in ADE again, this time with a label of "twenty days" in the corner, showing how much time I can get the book from the library. I double-clicked then the book in ADE. ADE closes unexpectedly.

  3. I returned to my drive hard Digital Editions folder and right click on the EPUB file. I selected "open with...". "and then clicked on iBooks. The iBooks program refused to open the book, saying he was corrupt.

  It is just that my library gave me a file CMHA glitch. But since the file is apparently a protected EPUB, an open document, it may also be that iBooks cannot open it at all. It occurs to me that something I did caused the ACSM file is corrupted. (I have re-download the mobilization, with the same results as above, on all the steps.)

  Where this is important: I have been using Overdrive on my iPad to read books from my local library. I have not tried to open the EPUB book in Overdrive on the iPad yet, because I do not have the iPad with me at the moment.

  Any suggestions you can give would be welcome.

  Please try the steps below.

  • Take backup of the My Digital Editions folder under "C:\Users\\Documents" and remove it.
  • ADE to restart and check if the problem is still reproducible
