I have a Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit installed on my computer. This error began to occur a few days after
I did a system restore, after that I accidentally deleted the file "TrustedInstaller". After that, the file was recovered. I did a system restore, restore a few days before the Windows Update the problem began to occur, but the problem persists. I tried the same problem in the forums. Im trying to do a windows update, but I get the error "an error has occurred all. when searching for new updates for your computer detected error code 80072f8f.

If Windows Update error 80072f8f during updates, date and time on your computer may not be identical to the date and time for the service online from Windows Update. Your computer and the service have no need to have an identical date and time, but if they vary too much it will prevent you from checking for updates.

To change the date and time of your computer

    1. Open the Date and time by clicking on the button start , by clicking on Control Panel, click clock, language, and region, and then clicking on the Date and time.

    2. On the Date and time tab, make sure that the date and time of your computer are correct. If they are not, click the change date and time. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. In the Date and time dialog box, follow these steps:

      • To change the date, under Date, click the left or right arrows to find the current month in the calendar, and then click the current date.

      • To change the time, under the terms of the time, double-click the hour, minutes, or seconds that you want to change, and then click the arrows to increase or decrease the value.

    4. When you have finished editing the time settings, click OK.

  • Windows Update "Unknown error" Code: 8007371C for KB2207566 security update

I have Vista SP2, have had no problems installing updates before that point.

I tried to install this update several times and failed. I am trying to connect to the network at my University for which I need to have all updates installed, but this particular update (KB2207566) will not be installed. I tried installing the stand-alone version and have tried in safe mode, nothing works. I've heard that there may be a problem with incompatible antivirus software, but I don't know that I have that MS Essentials for the moment. I did a full scan using this program and removed all viruses we found, I scanned the drive for errors and none have been found, I used CheckSUR SFCScan, (I think that's what we called them) as they were recommended on another forum if nothing has changed since.

Any ideas what is the problem? I still have to do a repair of the system to see if that solves this problem, but I also think to buy Windows 7 and completely remove Vista from my PC, this will solve the situation also?

    Thanks in advance.
