color replacement tool

10 items, when I use the color replacement tool to replace the Red nail polish on a photo, I set the foreground color rose, but the replacement of color sets a dark gray color?

You cannot use this tool this way in the last two versions of PSE. It will replace a color with another color, but that's all. You can't make red to pink, although you should be able to make red to green equivalent. You would be better to use something like a hue/saturation adjustment layer. The color replacement tool is simply too difficult to control. It seems broken.

You have set the tool to change the color (hue and saturation), while preserving the brightness (brightness/clarity) of the region you repainted.  And you painted something quite dark.

You are only ingredients in 2 of the 3 coordinated colors. If you painted all 3, you would have a flat color (like a Paint Bucket fill), not a replacement of realistic colors.

You can use the settings to lighten or darken the shape that you change after the replacement of the color.

  • How can I make the color replacement tool works correctly?

I want to turn black to green in a chart B & w.  Here's the chart that I start by:

    celtic cross.png

Here are the directions I followed (EP 13):

    Replacement of color

    • Select the tool, color replacement (the tool replace color is part of the Brush Tool Options bar).
    • Menu, choose a brush in the options bar. Mode, as a general rule, you'll want to keep the blending mode set to color.
    • For limits, choose one of the following:

Batch Replaces the color sampled, wherever it occurs under the pointer of.

Contiguous Replaces colors that are contiguous with the color under the pointer.

  • To tolerance, specify a small percentage to replace colors very similar to the pixel you click, or increase the percentage to replace a wider range of colors.
  • To give a smooth edge areas that you correct, select anti-aliased.
  • Choose the required sampling method. The available options are:

Continues Continuous color samples, when you drag the color replacement tool.

Once Samples of color only once, when you begin to drag the color replacement tool.

  • Background swatch Replaces the box containing the background color, whenever you drag the color on it replace tool.

  • Choose a foreground color to use to replace the unwanted color.
  • Click the color you want to replace in the image.
  • Drag the image to replace the target color.
  • And here is the result I get:

    celtic cross - green.png

I chose very carefully the darker more deep black as the color to be replaced and all blacks should have turned to green, but only gray pixels on the edges did it.  Oh, and here's a screenshot selected as I am, even though I have tried many different combinations:

Help? I am a novice, so I need descriptive and explicit suggestions.  Thank you!!

There are means other than the color tool replacement for what you want to do, which is to add color to a drawing in black or any other color.

-First of all, use the magic wand tool to select the color (here black). You should see the "mobile dash" around the shape. Do not forget to uncheck "continuous."

-Create a new layer while keeping the active selection (new layer in the layer Panel icon)

-Menu Edition/fill selection"." Choose your destination color.

The new layer now holds your shape with the color you have chosen.

  • Bad color appears when you use the color replacement tool.

I use this tool in CS4 on an image with a transparent background.

When I set the foreground color of R165 G165 B165 and apply, the resulting color on my image is R64 B64 G64. Any ideas why please?

Replace color seems an unsuitable approach to the task.

«If you have transparency anyway just lift the part on a clean diaper (make a selection with the rectangular selection tool, layer > New > layer by cutting) and apply the layer Style "Chromakey".»

  • Replace color replaced by Dark, perhaps almost black instead of color I want

Using Win7, CS6. When I try to replace color, say red with pink, the target turns dark, almost black. I tried every setting I can think, but I can't work. Any thoughts would be appreciated

To change the colors, it's always depends on the color values you are trying to change amd how much detail you want to keep in your image.

on a personal level, I prefer not to use the color replacement tool,

what I do in this simple case is to use the brush with different blending modes

  • Where is color selection tool in Photoshop

Hola, soy nueva con esto, alguien me could decir donde esta the color selection tool?

Hello, you go to the color of the Image/adjustments/replace. Once you're in the color window replace, click on the color you want to replace to select. Adjust the selection using the Fuziness value and choose new colors mingle settings in the lower area.

  • Can I avoid results pixelated when using color replacement?

    PSE9 running under Mac OS X 10.6.

I'm editing a picture (originally.jpg) of jewelry green (on a silver necklace) with a gray background.  I want to change the grey to a pale pink.

At first, I tried the magnetic Lasso to select jewelry followed by replacement of color, but the intricacies of the silver necklace and the thin wires of the hooks (breakthroughs) earrings seem to confuse the Lasso in loss of detail.  Then I thought that I had a bright idea: ignore the detailed selection, select the entire photo and let the color replace non-contiguous to do its job.  I don't know how that affects the detail of the result yet, because I'm more concerned of pixels about 3 mm from a variety of colors which replaced the gray background.  Change the blur didn't remove the pixelation, and I have no idea why the variety of colors is being implemented.

Where, oh where am I wrong?

Here's how to get the results below:

1 filled in the upper left corner of the image with the Clone Stamp tool

sampling on areas below. (makes it easier to choose if the gray)

rather, it is the same everywhere)

2 has used the magic wand with contiguous not checked and clicked on tool

    grey in the picture.

3 inverted this selection; Filters > adjustments > invert

    4. has created a new color adjustment layer filling; Layer > new fill layer > solid color

and the color in the color picker dialog box (you can later change the color

by double clicking on the fill color icon in the layers panel)

    5. you can have the zoom in close and fill in the boxes you don't want rosy by painting

on the color fill layer mask United with a brush. Use a black brush to show more of the

    Necklace (hide the rose).

Use a white brush to add more rose.

The Replace Color tool does not work so good on images like this, that's why

a solid color fill adjustment layer is a better choice.

I assume that you use the application overview.

I can't find an answer to back up everything, but a workaround could be while the file menu options are visible, press the option key

and the point of the window will become close, if you click on that dialogue will ask you if you want to restore the changes or save

pressing Save will close the image with the changes and then move to the next image and so on.

You're talking about the Adobe color theme Panel (window > colors > Adobe color themes)? If this is the case, just close it.

Or do you mean the floating palette that appears when you use the color theme tool. If the latter, press ESC to remove and forget what it selected last.

  • All the world has noticed that the color sampler tool is inaccurate?

I have some colors of the company I can't vary.  I'm a solid with the appropriate hex values, and if I try to enjoy this solid later... it does not pick up the exact color.  I have to type the color values in the new solid.  I checked the color on the strong original values and they were right.  Someone knows what the deal is here?  It has been bothering me for far too long.  Thank you!

When you say you "as solid sample", what exactly are you clicking on in After Effects? Are you clicking on the solid in the Composition Panel? Or are you clicking on the color chart for this layer in the timeline panel or project panels?

There is a known bug that the color swatch in the Assembly or project panels may not return the value of the appropriate color to the color swatch tool. When you click on a pixel that is not in a pane of the Viewer (Composition, layer, film), After Effects application the pixel color display driver is. The problem here is the color management: even if you have not enabled the management of colors (via a workspace Project) in the project settings, After Effects within the parameters of color management for your monitor, as shown in the operating system (defined in system preferences in Mac OS X, the control panel under Windows). However, this applies only to the viewer panels. The nuances in the editing and project panels are not color managed in this way, so the color values, indicated by the display driver may be different from the color used by the associated layer. The only way to work around this bug would be to set the color profile of your monitor to a standard RGB profile; I wouldn't recommend actually do.

If you have another case where the sample color tool does not return the color expected, please file a bug with details about what you are doing: http://adobe.com/go/wish

  • How can I turn off the scale for the pipette/color theme tool?

I have a shortcut key (F13) for the eyedropper tool that speeds up the formatting for me.  With the latest version of InDesign, the pipette now shares the same space as color theme tool, when I press initially on F13 I get the theme instead of the eyedropper color tool.  Yes this happens only at first, but I don't want it to happen at all.  Is there a way I can turn off the toggle between these 2 tools so that F13 only active the eyedropper tool?

No worries, I found this thread:

Y at - it replacement tool path for "Image > adjustments > Variations...» "Photoshop cs6 more Standard that brings similar results?  I was used to using Image > adjustments > variations of Photoshop CS4 Standard Standard more often. I've upgraded to Photoshop CS6 additions assayed for the compatibility of architecture memory 64-bit on my Macbook Pro, started in Mountain Lion.  I see now that Photoshop CS6 Addition Standard has the "Image > adjustments > Variations...» "removed toolpath.

I do not have Photoshop CS6 extended, which has the new Image > adjustments > variations... toolpath.  I only have Photoshop CS6 addition so if someone can share with me a substitution toolset that can give me results similar to the use of the old "Image > adjustments > variants...," I'd appreciate it.

As far as I know, Variations has been removed from the service standard/extended cs6 photoshop and photoshop cc on the side of mac

You can use the levels instead of variations.

  • Learning curve in color replacement brush

First of all, let me say that I still consider myself novice stage.

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 and have been experimenting with color replacement brush.  I have a photo of an interior corridor to the beige walls and wanted to change the color of the walls in medium grey.  The program doesn't let me do according to the previous discussions that gray is not a color.  I tried to play with hue, saturation, etc., but am not having any luck.  The trim and doors in the picture are white, Maple floor and the off-white ceiling.  Y at - it a trick or a process that I'm missing?  Any help is very appreciated.

  • problem with the color picker tool

Hi there we use Fireworks CS3 and seem to have problems with the color picker tool.

When we hover over a color and select it, we do not get the same color. Sometimes, we choose a blue color and it translates into a green.

Also when we have a color for example chabouni and reduce the color so something lighter, he returned to the Carter.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem.

This has only started happening recently and nothing major has been installed or removed from Fireworks.
