Command line method of specifying the MAC address for a guest

Can someone tell me if it is possible to manually change the mac address for a guest the cli? I was hoping that vicfg-vmknic can have an option statically assign an address but it is not. Depending on the Server Configuration guide, you can set the via the customer of VI, but the cli method is eluding me. Reason for wanting to do this is for a static dhcp address assignment

Thank you

Paul

Another possibility - you can try VI Toolkit 1.5 which has a command called Set-NetworkAdapter, which allows you to set the MAC address.

    Hello

The best way to get it is from the front panel of the printer connected to the net: main Menu > connectivity > network Conenctivity > information network

Of the EWS: networking > Configuration Page > hardware address

OR, if you have the printer IP address,

on the command prompt, use the command bow - one, look for the IP address of the printer. you will find the IP address on the right

    I hope this helps

  • Unable to set the MAC address in a guest

I seem to have difficulties to define a MAC address on my virtual machine.  I think I am following the steps on page 309 in the User Guide.

    In particular:

    (1) my setup is VMWare Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739.  I use a network card virtual and NAT.

    (2) I change the *.vmx file and remove the following lines:

    ethernet0. AddressType = 'generated '.

    ethernet0.generatedAddress = "" 00: 0C: 29:59:2 c: 01 ""

    ethernet0.generatedAddressOffset = '0 '.

    (3) I add the following line to the *.vmx file:

    ethernet0. Address = "00:50:56:01:01:01".

    (4) I turn on the machine.  Once it is turned on, the MAC address is now 00: 0C: 29:59:2 c: 01 and the *.vmx file also venerated the old.

Any ideas what I'm missing or else where to go.

Try instead the following... That's what I use without any problems (WS 7.0)

    ethernet0. AddressType = 'static '.

    ethernet0. Address = "00:50:56:01:01:01".

  • where can I find the mac address for Airport Extreme

just bought a new Airport Extreme 802.11ac and I don't know here to find the MAC ADDRESS. Can someone tell me where to look. I have the model and serial number, but can not find the MAC ADDRESS.

Is the AirPort Extreme, set up and operation right now... even if he could not have an Internet connection?

If Yes... Open the AirPort on your Mac utility... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Hold down the option key on your Mac when you double-click on the image of the AirPort Extreme

The next page will display a summary of the parameters

The AirPort Extreme has done 3 different MAC addresses... Ethernet, WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi.   If your AirPort Extreme is connected to a modem by an Ethernet cable, then the Ethernet ID is the MAC address.

If the AirPort Extreme has not set up yet at all...

Open AirPort Utility as above, and then click the file menu in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple icon

    Click on configure the other

    For address, enter 10.0.1.1

A password is normally not necessary, but if you are prompted for a password, use the word

    public

Click OK, the settings summary page is displayed.  In most cases, given that the AirPort Extreme connects to a modem via an Ethernet connection, you want to use the Ethernet ID as the MAC address.

  • Can I get the MAC address for my lost iPad?

I think I left my iPad Pro in the street today while loading and led away.  When I realized it, I rolled back, but he had disappeared.

It's a Wifi model only, so find my iPhone will not be much help.  However, my local ISP is a service where you can register the MAC address of the device and it uses one of the many public access tasks automatically, then in this case I find my iPhone could help.

Is there a way to determine MAC address the iPad when I don't?  Perhaps through iTunes?  I checked the box, but only the serial number is in the list.

  • How to find the MAC address for photosmart c510 - printer, not zineb

    HP Photosmart c510 all-in-One

    Windows 7 SP1

    Printer bought 2 weeks ago.

Printer wireless light is not on, not even flashing

I use MAC address filtering on my home wireless router.  No problem adding the Zeen, I found that it is easy MAC.  Of course for the printer, it says "Printer not available" on the display of zineb, just below the zitoun MAC address.

So I need to add the MAC address of the printer to my router.  I know that I can turn off filtering by MAC address and I hope that the printer connects, and then I can print the printer network settings, get the MAC, and then again turn on the filter and add the printer Mac

Is this the ONLY way I can get the MAC address of the printer?  I'd rather not have to do that whole process, but will if I have to.

I also wonder why the printer wireless light is not even blinking as he is looking for a network.

    Can anyone help?

Print a network Test Wireless in the network menu on the front of the printer. It will contain the MAC address. Note that MAC filtering is not in that ensure that used MAC addresses are sent in the clear, and it is easy to impersonate a MAC address on a computer.

  • Obtain the Mac address for Guest-VM

    Hi all

I would like to help to provide a document html (with convert-html) with three columns (VM name, Type (detached or manual) @MAC, @MAC).

I have search the forum and I found the command line in order to get all the mac for all VM addresses: Get - VM | Select name, @{Name = "MAC"; expression = {foreach($nic_in_(Get-View_$_.ID).guest .net) {$nic.macAddress}}} but detached or manual settings or not display.

    Could you help me?

    Thank you for your help.

    Kind regards.

The addressType property is not in this object.

With this script, you should get the type of MAC address

    $report =@()
    Get-VM | Get-View | %{
     $VMname = $_.Name
     $_.Config.Hardware.Device | where {$_.DeviceInfo.Label -match "Network Adapter"} | %{`
            $row = "" | Select VM, MAC, Type
            $row.VM = $VMname
            $row.MAC = $_.MacAddress
            $row.Type = $_.AddressType
            $report += $row
      }
      }

  • Wireless devices shows the MAC address for 1 device that does not have an IP address

I am tracking down each device connected to my router nighthawk and I identified everyone except this. There is a device of Wirelsss appears when I connect to the router that does NOT have an IP address but it has a MAC address. An interesting point is that the router device itself has a number of MAC that is not anywhere in the list of devices. Any ideas what this could be? I have an Extneder range wireless attached Nighthawk also but I already idenfified his IP address and Mac address.

How a device could have a mac address, but not IP address?

Why the address of the router device do not show in the list of anywhere?

Try to turn off the Extender and see if that will fill again.

  • How to get the Mac address of a virtual machine?

    Hello world...

I need help to get the MAC address of a virtual computer, I'm stuck in it.

Please reply if anyone know solutions.

    Thank you

    Mahesh Thawari

Here's a vSphere SDK for Perl script that extracts the MAC addresses for all your virtual machines - http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-10490

You should be able to take it and translate it into any language vSphere SDK you plan to use. Basically you'll be listing through virtual hardware for the virtual machine to search for devices of type VirtualEthernetCard and then retrieve the MAC address of each device.

  • Feature request: Advanced mode to display the MAC address of the network card

When a virtual machine has multiple network cards, and when it is not easy to get/know MAC address within o/s comments, it would be nice if there is a way of GUI for the MAC address for any individual network adapter.  I don't mind if this function is in some "advanced only user" box, as long as it is available.

I know that it is also possible to open the .vmx file for this information, but if there is a sort of GUI, why not?

Just came across this old post of mine, let me answer myself

Requested, accessible functionality in the Advanced... button, is available in the Workstation 8 and later versionsand 12 player (at least).

  • LaserJet MFP M477 cold Pro: MAC address for LajerJet Pro MFP M477 cold

Could you please tell me where I can find the MAC address for LaserJet Pro MFP M477fnw?

    Hello Letitial

The Mac address is simple to find 2 ways

    1. Go to the antenna wireless icon on the upper right of the screen and tap on it.
    2. Then press the Wifi network (On - Off) icon.
    3. Do scroll down and find the hardware address.

That s how you get the Mac.

The other way would be to print a configuration report and search for hardware addresses.

    • Drag the menu to the left
    • tap Setup
    • tap reports
    • Select configuration report.

      I hope this helps you!

  • Need a list of MAC addresses for all VMs in vcenter

How go on sending a query to vcenter, and he pulled out a text file that contains all the mac addresses for all of my VM and vm name. Any help will be welcome. Thank you

    Hello, RadarG-

You can do this quickly with something like:

    Get-View -Viewtype VirtualMachine -Property Name, Config.Hardware.Device | ` Select name, @{n="MAC(s)"; e={($_.Config.Hardware.Device | ?{($_ -is [VMware.Vim.VirtualEthernetCard])} | %{$_.MacAddress}) -join ","}} | ` Export-Csv c:\temp\VMMACsInfo.csv -UseCulture -NoTypeInformation

"It was essentially my post vNugglets.com" find VM with PowerShell - Fast as NETWORK card MAC address!.  If you are wanting just a list ivnventory of MAC addresses of your virtual machines, will be good.  But, if you are looking for a virtual machine by MAC address, or are perhaps looking for duplicates, there are other easier ways.

Recently, I did 3 three MAC address of related messages (see to The MAC address of label to vNugglets).  There are to find virtual machines by MAC address, find MAC address duplicated and configuration of the MAC addresses on the VMs.

    Enjoy.
