  I'm not quite as negative as infernoman but it is essentially correct. Portable versions of Celeron from HP computers generally have a different motherboard, and you cannot install a Core 2 Duo or Pentium because speedstepping function is not supported by the motherboard. Celeron not speedstep. You can install a faster Celeron, but why bother? It is not something for a novice to try to do. Just sell your laptop and buy a better one than you will always before an upgrade of the processor.

I have, to the best of my abilities, exhausted all remedies the user guides and help and have failed in my attempt to perform a factory restore. in other words, for any delete on the hard drive and restore power back to factory settings.   You need to boot from the CD of the operating system. Put in the drive and restart your laptop. You can receive a command prompt type any key to boot from CD on on/off, or it can boot from it automatically. Choose to install, once reach you the screen where your hard drive is displayed choose to format and reinstall. After installing XP, the driver cd & Application run.

  I have a problem with my laptop start-up where windows can sometimes load and run, but other times I gives me the option to "Repair Windows" or "Start Windows normally".

  I got the message "boot device found" or "Please install and opertaing system."

  Well, I know that it is a responsible OS that I wouldn't be able to sometimes start in windows successfully.

  Primary hard disk Self Test I ran and returned the following results:

  Hard drive Test passed.

  Full test

  48% complete...

  Hard drive 1 full (305)

  Intelligent control

  HDD SMART spending

  End of the test.

  What does all this mean?

  My hard drive is in failure or default and on there way out, or y at - it cable losing hard disk connection.

  Any assistance with this issue, I'd be very happy.

  I would recommend you replace the HARD drive because he's looking for as you HDD is dying and that's why you have this problem starting.

  I updated my pc to 1 GB and installed windows7 who formatted the drive c for installation.

  Now HP downloads won't let me install any drivers because they are ONLY for XP op system.

  which I upgraded from.

  How can I overcome that and install the drivers from the HP site?

  PC will not boot.  I was using my PC and he started running slow and the gel to the top, so I decided to restart.  I had struggled to stop, but after a few attempts and a long wait, I managed.  When trying to restart, I got a message that Windows could not start and I can run the Startup Repair.

  Run the Startup Repair tool will take me only to the image of the blue rays.  I tried to boot normally and I get the Windows emblem.

  I ran the System Diagnostics test, The SMART Check passed, start The Memory Test Passed, The Start-Up Test failed, the lapping Test failed, the short DST failed. Hard drive Test failed, he said Hard Disk 1.

  I went to the BIOS Option and ran the Test car primary hard drive and on the long ordeal, he stopped at 49% Complete and I got a message saying that the complete hard drive 1 (305)
