Compaq Presario CQ57-104TU: upgrade Ram, memory (Ram Hynix PC3L-12800)

Hello world

I have a Compaq Presario CQ57-104TU. I recently decided to upgrade the ram (currently 1 x 2 GB Elpida PC3 - 10600 1333 Mhz). I bought 2 x 4 Gb Hynix HMT451S6AFR8A, PC3L-12800. Unfortunitely when I install the new Ram (Hynix)

the computer does not start. Is there something I can do or the Ram is not compatible?

Any help would be appreciated,

André

Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

See p.2. Specified memory is DDR3-1333 1.5 volt and you try to install low-voltage DDR3-1600. In addition, memory that you are trying to install is high density, because it has 4 blocks on each side, where I am betting that original memory was of low density (8 blocks). Long story short, it is not compatible. It do you no good to install DDR3-1600 by the way. Best of cases, it will anyway be downclock speed 1333.

Processor Intel Core i3 2310M is not supported, but the 2330 m.

By the book, I must tell you that it won't work.

So, you can try to install at your own risk. It may work correctly, or it may not work at all.

It all depends on if the BIOS has the microcode for the i3-2310 and other firmware supported processor.

  • Compaq Presario CQ57-445EQ: recovery of the BIOS Compaq Presario CQ57 445EQ

So I got this Compaq Presario CQ57-445EQ with Windows 7 and 4 GB of ram. Last night I tried to upgrade the BIOS of the first version (2008) to the last (2015) and he got bricks. During the upgrade, it got stuck for 30 minutes and I had to reboot. Now it is black screen, caps lock shift will blink twice every 2 seconds. I tried to recover from USB with sp55356 and sp64612 but no luck.

I should mention that Win + B, Fn + B, Fn + Esc combinations is not the tone of the laptop, but it shows a USB activity.

What can I do? Bios versions are .fd files.

    Thanks in advance!

    Not that I know of.

  • Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM: Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM randomly fails to start

I had a very strange problem with my Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM laptop. My laptop suddenly, carefully and randomly last night, didn't start the operating system. It's all the way to the start screen, but who could not pass.

Safe mode wouldn't work, nor any attempt to use System Repair, so I was forced to use the Recovery Manager to reload the operating system.

Given that what happened at least three times before, I honestly don't know what is the cause. It may be a virus, because I take care of is not to infect the computer and the hard disk is reformatted every time that the OS is reloaded, and I'm sure he doesn't have to do with any other software, including the operating system. No matter who would be able to help me with this rather strange dilemma I had some?

NOTE 1: This has also happened at random intervals completely - the last time it happened was several months ago, and you the shortest time between the issues around a few days.

NOTE 2: This computer has had its fair share of abuse - he struck from time to time and is quite old at this point.

SYSTEM card (in which case it might be useful):

CPU: Intel Celeron 1.50 GHz B800

RAM: 4.00 Go DDR3-1600 (upgrade; also the problems until I installed RAM)

: HARD disk SATA 5400 RPM 320 GB (?) (not upgraded)

BIOS: update to the latest version (F.39, if I'm not mistaken; questions had also arisen before that the BIOS has been updated)

Have implemented so many devices (monitor, mouse, printer, speakers)

Defective HARD drive probably just, who is giving up

The next step would be for you to try to restore the BIOS. You will see that the document says:

If the BIOS of your laptop becomes corrupted, and a failure to upgrade the BIOS or damage caused by a virus, the computer can display all the following symptoms:

    • The computer displays the error message from the BIOS APPLICATION ERROR 501.

  • Compaq Presario CQ57-339wm: I can swap different CPU into a model motherboard Celeron?

    Hey all,.

I have a laptop Compaq Presario CQ57-339wm requiring a logic board replacement. According to the sticker on the Palm, it has an Intel Celeron processor clocked to Interior.

According to the CQ57, the motherboard service manual I ordered (reference number: 646177-001) is "for use only with the computer models equipped with an Intel Core i5 or i3 processor processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA video memory.

Since I have a Celeron CPU and motherboard instead, would replace this motherboard for the work of the Board of Directors i5? I think that the mobo, I ordered does not include a processor i5, just the current Board. I could swap the chip Celeron of the old Council to the Board of Directors i5, or that wouldn't work either? I have to install a compatible rod that matches the part number of the old mobo? (646174 001).

If it won't work, I return to the Commission, as I have not yet opened and order a compatible card. Moreover, if the installation of the Board of Directors will work, and I just need the compatible CPU, I could order one that would correspond to the reference, like this eBay i3.

"Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." -Issac Asimov, from its roman Foundation.

I think that you understood. The Celeron and Core Intel models use a different motherboard with a different chipset and processors cannot be exchanged.

  • Black screen on startup, caps lock flashing - Compaq Presario CQ57 311SO

I got this computer from a friend who owns a son.

We do not know how or when it appeared first, but it's in this State for a few months now.

It is a Compaq Presario CQ57-311SO and its a little more than 1 year, so store warranty has expired.

What happens is that when you press the button power has nothing to display on the screen and you do not hear the sounds of typical start-up, the beep and the hard disk rotates upward.

Instead of this, the Caps Lock key led flashes in the following model, 2 flashes pause 2 flashes.

The computer is totally immune to any key, usb and cd entries.

I tried the hard reset and memory sharing in different locations.

But it seems that the bios itself is corrupt and failed.

So my question is, can I Flash the bios somehow and make it work again?

I tried a tutorial on how to do memory flash in FAT - 16 but no noticeable effect.

Although the guide could be wrong or I could have done something wrong so I would really like to try again if I could get help with instructions from you nice people

    Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem in dismembering the computer laptop everything and put back the battery CMOS.

    Thank you.

I have a Windows 7 disc, but can not go to the Bios so that it can begin. Help, please! Compaq Presario CQ57-339WM. tried everything. System off Code 71697032

    Hello

    You are welcome

There is a general policy on the Forum do not provide methods to bypass the Windows log-on passwords, but a local computer store would be able to do it for you.

Another option would be to reset the laptop to his "factory Condition" and then set it upwards from the beginning - if you do not have a set of recovery media, the laptop are shipped with a recovery Partition which is accessible at the start - that is to say stop the laptop, then start typing away at f11 as soon as you turn on.

A comprehensive guide on this can be found on the following link.
