Compaq Presario CQ57-445EQ: recovery of the BIOS Compaq Presario CQ57 445EQ

So I got this Compaq Presario CQ57-445EQ with Windows 7 and 4 GB of ram. Last night I tried to upgrade the BIOS of the first version (2008) to the last (2015) and he got bricks. During the upgrade, it got stuck for 30 minutes and I had to reboot. Now it is black screen, caps lock shift will blink twice every 2 seconds. I tried to recover from USB with sp55356 and sp64612 but no luck.

I should mention that Win + B, Fn + B, Fn + Esc combinations is not the tone of the laptop, but it shows a USB activity.

What can I do? Bios versions are .fd files.

Thanks in advance!

Not that I know of.

You may need to purchase recovery media usb to your laptop to HP or HP partner.

  • HP Envy 15-j139TX: the BIOS using external storage recovery does not work.

My HP Envy 15-j139TX got stuck (frozen) and I force closure by long pressing the power button. I tried to start by pressing the power button, it shows a black screen (display off) and the capslock continues to Flash.

I did research on the problem and discovered that the issue was "the BIOS corruption failure" according to the information on the link below:

I tried to recover the BIOS using an external storage device by following the instructions at the link below:

But it did not work. The lights keep flashing. I have my files b.SC. thesis on the computer and their need for pronto. (If not my life is pretty well made)

I also couldn't find the files for version 10 of Windows (64-bit) to my laptop, so I tried with one I downloaded from another site and I got a BIOS of Windows 8.1 HP site.

Is there anyway I can fix it soon or get my files as soon as possible. Help, please!

Have you ever updated the BIOS before?

If you have, you should be able to recover the BIOS using the Windows key + key B method.

All holding the key Windows + B button down, press the power button and wait to see if the laptop responds with a message of recovery of the BIOS on screen.

As my wife continued his mastery, I insisted on his recording of his files periodically to our home network NAS.

You can remove the hard drive and connect it to a desktop computer to get the files from it. You can connect the hard drive to a USB to sata cable to connect it to a laptop.   Instructions to access the disk by opening the back door are on page 42 of the maintenance and service guide. The hard drive is part replaceable by the user, so you don't have to worry about voiding the warranty.

  • Envy 17-j130ea: HP Envy 17-j130ea do not have access to the BIOS recovery and black screen

    Hi people,

The laptop was waking up alone, so I decided to try to update the BIOS. Bis error. The tool has been run on 64 Win10

The HP tool left me with a black screen and after that I tried to hold the low win + B and the power to access the Bios recovery, but there is no nothing. Tone flashing, nothing.

I don't know if creating a flash drive with the bios will help as I don't have admin rights in another machine to create the flash drive using HP tool.

Any ideas? Flash player won't work if BIOS recovery is not pulled up?

    All ideas are welcome.

    See you soon

Well, I managed to solve the problem overnight without having to wait three days for anyone to answer that after the end of the week, with the following steps:

    1. I had to create a USB key with the bios by using the executable auto HP. It did not help that for some reason any that you have to have the administrator rights on a windows machine. Why aren't files available as well in a simple zip file? It would have helped a lot! Please stop HP right now provide only Autorun... it only compliates things. It took me an extra day just because I couldn't access a machine windows with administrator rights to install the executable file.

2 - Insert the memory stick with the bios in the dead computer.

3 - Press the Win + B and press the power button. The machine didn't do any beep or noise that all the guides say. I just kept pressing the key B + Win until I saw a recovery of the Bios screen, finally. Without the memory following stick this same step has not shown, nor does the computer make a noise or show any display, just died.

4 - wait for the update at the end.

My Advisor. Do not update windows, it all messed up. It is very reliable to get the memory stick. Too many windows things can interfere in the process, just don't do it from Windows, or at least create the memory stick first while you still can.

    Hi there @BobMarley

I understand you are looking for assistance for the recovery of the BIOS by using the shortcut, or by using a USB key. I'm happy to help you with this.

Here are two documents for you to check. Of course, the first is specific to desktop computers and covers the shortcut key. The other property that for laptops also includes a section on the use of a USB device.

    Desktop HP - BIOS recovery

HP Notebook PC - restore BIOS

Also on the support forums, there is a process described by @HaggisCat, you can find of use in the preparation of a USB flash drive. You will need to have the correct BIOS softpaq to go with it.

    Hello

I have a laptop HP dating a week 15-ay011nr that does not allow me to access the BIOS. I do not see the message "press ESC for Boot Menu", but it starts directly on the hp logo.

With reference to this previous post:

I wanted to make sure if this solution applies to 15 laptops and if I do this or else, given the warranty has not expired

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

    Kind regards

Only other thing I can think of who isn't in this post is to restore the bios, you can now win + keys B and turning on the holding of these keys, you can release it when the update/recovery of the bios screen

After that try with Esc or f10 key immediately after the power

If this does not work then I would recommend to contact your warranty computer HP

The steps you have taken to solve the problem would lead me to believe that the motherboard no longer works correctly.

You observe a code flashes when you press the power button? a flashing red button would indicate systemboard failure.

    On-screen error messages?

You can try to recover the BIOS. Follow the procedures on this document from HP web compared to the version of the BIOS that has your PC. In case of recovery of the BIOS, then all should be well. If this isn't the case, then it is time to get a replacement PC. You can recover data from a hard drive on the computer when you install in another PC under Windows.

  • Computer does not start after the screen of the bios, Compaq Presario SR1023WM

Ok. Trying to fix a friend's computer and seem to have met a strange barrier.

Problem: The computer does not start after the bios screen.

Details: When you turn on the computer, the compaq logo with intel inside is and has the < F1 Setup > and < F10 System Recovery > options listed as well.  And that's it as far as the computer becomes.  After that the computer just locked up, no work of buttons on the keyboard lights keyboard ect ect.  I tried the puree on the F1 key, as soon as I turn on the computer and I can handle so he can say * entering setup * but it freezes again after this point.  I already tried to eliminate the possible sources of the problem, removed all expansion cards, HDD and Dvd Rom module only disconnected, only memory (256 MB ddr 2700), power, vga and keyboard connected.  Ive also used the jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos, hoping that would solve the problem without success.  I tried using a different memory stick and different memory as well...  Tried to use both a ps2 and a usb keyboard... Ive even tried pulling the rider for the protection of the bios password (even if she did not have a password on it, just try everything I can think of).

The installed bios version is 3.1, and that's all that I know on the computer at this point, except that the website tells me to him.

I'm basically at a loss on this one, so if someone feels scroll line-by-line of their brains on this one, I'd be very happy.

I have a pretty strong understanding of computer repair, so feel free to give me something to try.

If you need more information out of me, let me know as well.

Try to clear the CMOS again but this time remove CMOS battery and hold the power button on a few seconds. Replace the battery, then try to start back to the top.

At the back of the pc is the condition of the PSU led green or flashing?

  • Compaq Presario CQ71-320SA: failure of the update of the BIOS via Support Assistant / should I update anyway?

This morning I found that my laptop had not finished closing 8 hours ago. I stopped by pressing the button Off for 6 seconds and restarted. I then looked a likely cause and saw that a BIOS problem was probably the cause.

I'm went to the site of HP support & with information about http://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c00007682, I followed step 1 and I saw that my BIOS is F.11 21/08/2009.

Support site told me that I need F.11Rev1/20/10/2014. I installed, rebooted and saw that he had failed.

What's worse, is that the program Insyde update it says that the 2009 version is updated - see below.

    Hello

You can manually update the BIOS for your laptop by downloading from the link below:

The current version available is F.23

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp51501-52000/sp51527.exe

Once the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file and follow the instructions on the screen.

You will notice may-continuous display blank for a few seconds, which is quite normal. Once the update is actually the device automatically restarts.

Note to back up your data before performing the update. Also have your adapter connected to the laptop.

  • Try to find the BIOS for Compaq Presario C300 (C350EA) file

I tried winflash BIOS to a Compaq Presario C300 (C350EA) but it failed.

The machine still messages, but it can not find a disk hard when you install windows on the CD.

The HARD test in the BIOS disk still works, like the rest of the BIOS screen.

Now, I'm trying to Flash the BIOS from disk BACK/external using PHLASH16. EXE, PH1614. EXE and AWDFLASH. EXE.

In each case, the files of bios provided by HP here do not work:

Any help with this would be most welcome.

    Thank you very much

    Carlos.

    Hi AxshunJaxun,

I thank very you much for your detailed and helpful response.

I had already tried all of those, but your screenshot of a Win7 installation has helped me tremendously.

You see, I tried to install the original version of Windows Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005, which corresponds to the label of license on the underside of the laptop.

So after seeing your post I threw a Win7 disc in the drive and tried to install it, just to see how the installation program.

Not surprisingly, the Win7 installer detects the disc perfectly but report it as being on an advanced interface for AHCI.

Unfortunately, I don't have an additional license for Win7, so I am forced to persevere with Win MCE.

So, now I'm at the stage of trying to force the installation of Win MCE program to see the HARD drive by installing the 3rd AHCI driver.

For the moment, I have the installer of Win MCE see my external floppy drive but I can't find the right drivers for the HARD disk controller. Installing Windows reports that "the txtsetup.oem file is not found.

I tried to download and run the Intel SATA AHCI Controller driver file to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-39535-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=3255527&sw_lang= , but it fails with the error 'error Windows N. 5 access is denied. Disk error n. 69 on track 0, head 0 "or"the current image format is not supported by the drive.

EDIT: I used WinImage to unpack the disk image file and manually wrote the files on a diskette.

Thanks again for your help, it seems to have worked. Will update again when the installation ends.
