Compare documents crashes

Hi people,

I do a review of the book and need to compare the old (April 2015) and new files (November 2015) PDF. I get a crash every time. I tried to isolate very small segments (two pages) of the files and compare them. Still crashes.

Here is the version information:

Acrobat Pro DC

Build: 15.9.20077.160923

Mac OS X 10.11.1

10.11.1 (B 15, 42)

I must say, Acrobat Pro DC is the buggiest software I've ever received from Adobe, and I've been aboard since Photoshop 2. The comments feature is in tatters. How about a freeze on new features as long as those current work?

  • How to compare documents in Acrobat 9

I can't get the function "compare documents" to work. Any materials I choose, the message is still:

"Acrobat can compare documents not completely. Want to see the report anyway? "If I say 'Yes' he found no difference, even if the documents are similar with additional differences.

What does take to get a useful comparison to highlight additional differences?

    I use Acrobat Pro 9, v 9.5.5.

By trial and error, I found that select 'scanned documents' works, even though they are not scanned documents. Go figure. In any case question answered (by myself).

It is not possible to compare PDF files using the player.

  • I have Adobe Acrobat standard XI, but at trial as the "compare documents" would include Pro. I tried to download a free trial of Pro, but the installer said that "it has detected a more complete version of the product" - probably my stand

Okay - just realized that the last screen was asking just for a 'title' to my question!

I have Adobe Acrobat standard XI, but at trial as the "compare documents" would include Pro. I tried to download a free trial of Pro, but the installer said that "it has detected a more complete version of the product" - probably my standard version? - and stopped installation. It's not clear to me, what are my options for upgrading to Pro, or selectively to have bought the plugin "compare documents" (if possible). I use which is probably a business version of acrobat (i.e. my employer has, not me)-so do not know what catchy limits. I think it's a simple question, but he would appreciate advice.

-You can not install Acrobat Pro along with Acrobat Standard. You will need to remove Standard in order to install Pro.

-You (probably) cannot upgrade your license if it is a part of a business license. The license all will need to be upgraded.

-It is not possible to install only the "Compare document" function as a kind of add-on for Acrobat Standard.

  • Acrobat DC crashes when comparing documents

Working under Windows 7. This problem just started in the last days. I can compare short (1-2) documents pages, but longer ~ 30 page documents to cause Acrobat to crash. I checked and installed an update, then ran "fix" on my installation, always crashing.

    Hello

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    You can try the following:

    1. run "Auto tag"Document"under 'Accessibility' on the two documents.

    2. now run compare on these documents.

  • 2015 CC InDesign document crashes a few seconds to start working on it

A 2015 CC Adobe InDesign document I started before my holiday now crashes a few seconds to start working on it. This problem has not happened before and does not occur in any other document. I am running Windows 7. How can I begin to know how to solve this problem?

Open the IDML and save as a new .indd under a new name and see if it works better.

  • CS6 Crash inDesign on placing a file on the indesign document, Crash report is attached.

    Hello

InDesign CS 6 works very well for Mac mini in MacBookPro it always crash on placing a file on the InDesign Document.

    Crash report: http://pastebin.com/fUPiYd0c

    I tried:

    (1) to uninstall and reinstall CS 6

    (2) using different accounts including admin

    Troubleshooting 3) as following:

' a) Trash preferences (cmd-opt-shift-control keys for InDesign starting).

Corrupt preferences (see above), or maybe the permissions on the folders that contain the preferences are such that InDesign cannot write correctly for them. (it sometimes happen).

    (b) by deleting sub folders: before you remove the sub directories/files, please make a backup (just to the trunk).  Exit design and try to delete the following files/directories (InDesign recreates them initially to the top):

    ~/Library/application support/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5.5

    InDesign ~/library/caches/Adobe

    ~/Library/Caches/com.Adobe.InDesign

    InDesign ~/Library/preferences/Adobe

    ~/Library/preferences/com.Adobe.InDesign.plist

    ~/Library/preferences/com.Adobe.InDesign.plist.lockfile

    ~/Library/saved application State/com.adobe.InDesign.savedState

Note: The user library directory hides under MacPro/Lion. You can get there in the Finder by pressing Option and then go to the menu (other ways are too thin).

Please let me know if I'm missing something.

    Thanks in advance,

It hangs in the plugin simple catalog...

  • The function 'Compare the Document' is missing from my Acrobat XI.  How do I find/recover it?

I'm trying to compare 2 PDF documents in order to find differences.  From what I've read in the help files, this function should be under the "View" menu in the "comparison Document.  This does not appear.

    Hi mrhemphill65,

Please search this sub menu-> display-tools > Compare Documents.

You can also add it to your Tools pane, click Customize > create new set of tools in the toolbar.

Now, choose the tool you want in your Tools pane & just add it.

Let me know if you are still having a problem.

    Kind regards

  • How accept/reject green/red changes in a Document comparing the CMP FM

I work in FM 11 and to merge a file two writers that worked at the same time with the different sections of this update file. I used the FM utility > Compare Documents. The result CMP file showed me the text inserted in light green and the text deleted in red. How do you accept/reject these changes? My solution is to retype what I wanted to keep and select Delete I wanted to delete text.

I also tried to use SVN update to merge the files, but does not seem to be able to merge my two SVN files (even if SVN merges a text file that user 1 set to DAY before they COMMITTED their change. UPDATE merges the writer 1 changes in the working copy of the writer 2 without change of 2 disturbing writer. Then the writer 2 could COMMIT. But that only worked on a TXT file and did not work with FM files. With FM, just SVN wouldn't let writer 2 DAY if his copy was not in harmony with the committed copy.

Ideally, I would like to be able to merge the changes on the same file from two writers have updated from various sections. Any suggestions? Thank you.

The utility of comparison only adds simple conditional tags to show the differences in a new combined version. Accept/reject only works with the track text edit modes, but you can not follow the text changes when writers attempt to simultaneously work on the same file.

You're probably better off splitting into smaller sections so that the changes can be done simultaneously. Then use the book feature or a new file with text overlays to assemble things.

  • InDesign CS5 (Mac) document is on strike (crashes for .idml, creation of table of contents)...

    1. document A: attempted to create a Table of contents to replace the one I already have. INDD beachball.

2 force quit INDD and restarted. On the re-creation of table of contents with the new model, same result. Force quit again.

    3 restarted Mac

    4. the same result as 1. Set up a new style of table of contents, with or without PDF hyperlinks. Same result.

5 reset preferences INDD. Document reopened attempted to create the table of contents. Same result.

6 document B: have tried to create a table of contents in another document. No problem, should be document, rather INDD as a whole.

    7. the document A: Reopened document original buggy, attempted to create IDML, but it froze at 57%. Force quit again...

What can I do to get a non-buggy working paper, has? It has variables and references, but the fact of B documents.

    Thanks Jongware for your suggestion.

Open as copy didn't work so I decided to go back to the previous version (I always do a new document when the customer sends the next set of amendments) and re-done about 5 hours of work, but now I have an updated version that does not keep crashing and with cross-reference works really well. Thought it would be better that send on you because I assumed that no one would be able to determine what was causing the document crashing to the point 57 percent of idml creation or when you click the mark button table of contents.

I guess that the 57% point INDD works on the table of contents, or cross-references or those dratted variables that cause any document down if the text that contains is selected. This is a bug that I wish Adobe would fix pronto. Only occurs on Mac not PC of CS5 version apparently computers.

Anyone know if there is a way to do this effectively in Acrobat 7 Standard and where the options would be on the PC version.
