  • Install the software in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7

    Hi guys,.

    I currently need to install something that applies only to Windows Server 2003 and windows XP 64-bit.

    But I'm on Windows 7 64 bit, after research, I discovered that it's able to run the software in Compatibility Mode.

    Unfortunately, my pc only have little in the mode list of compatibility that are Vista (Service Pack 1), Windows, Windows Vista (Service Pack 2), Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

    I'm amazing by any risk, I can install Windows Server 2003 or windows XP64 bit in my pc and let it show in the list Compatibility Mode?

    Thank you

    We are limited to the options available. You can contact the developer of the software and ask them if they have a version for Windows 7.

  • Try to install Indiana Jones and the infernal Machine, Windows (8 / ME) compatibility mode does not

    I try to install Indian Jones and the Doomsday Machine on my computer.
    I tried using the compatibility mode for windows 98 / ME, but it does not work. When I run the program splash arrives, but when I click on install it closes then nothing happens. There are no errors.
    I am running Windows 7 64 bit.
    Also I install the original CD, and it has worked before in older computers (running Win 98 of course).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    The game should run fine under Win7 64 bit. The problem is that the installer is only 16 bit and is no longer supported in Windows. Just use a different Setup program. Try www.markusegger.at. I'm running the Doomsday Machine, Alliance Xwing, Xwing v's Tiefighter, and Grim fandango all on 64 bit Win7 all using custom Setup programs.

    I also used the original X-wing, Tie-fighter and fate of Atlantis via Dosbox.

    I have EA Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. Can it be run in Windows 7 for XP SP2 compatibility mode

    Hello

    1. have you played the game on Windows XP Service Pack 2?

    2. it works on Windows XP Service Pack 2?

    These two Tiger Woods PGA tour games are compatible with Windows 7.

    If it worked before on Windows XP service pack 2, you try to install the Windows XP service pack 2 game, by referring to the following steps:

    (a) make a right click the icon of the file installation.

    (b) click on properties, then click on the Compatibility tab.

    (c) select the compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2.

    (d) click OK.

    (e) run the installer.

    Note: After installation, run the program in compatibility mode Windows by doing the same thing with the installed program.

    My windows xp does not display compatibility mode when trying to open the games of win98.

    Compatibility mode applies to shortcuts to applications.  Right-click and drag the application to a different folder and select "create shortcut here."  Then make a right click on the shortcut-> properties-> and go from there.

  • Cannot change the Compatibility Mode

    I'm trying to run an application on a new Windows 7 PC.  It works fine with no special settings on a Windows 7 PC identical (same model number, same OS, same OS updates).  But on the second machine Windows does not allow me to change the compatibility mode to Windows 7.  He insists on locking myself in other compatibility modes and greys and then the selection to return to Windows 7.  Worse, whenever I run the program I have to answer the nattering question "do you want the next request to make changes to this computer?  -Yes!  No matter what!  just, let me alone and run the application!

    (1) how do stop this Moguls and force Windows 7 leaves me alone and run the application?

    (2) how set the compatibility mode to Windows 7 (or eliminate the comaptibility altogther mode) for this application?

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times with no luck.

    Yes, lowering the UAC slider leaves your pc more reports unprotected, which was why I mentioned only use it as an experienced user (.. .knowing your way around your pc...)

    This problem only occurs with the .exe in question btw?

    You can still work around a problem in the registry. I found this (below) on several sites. Before you begin, I STRONGLY suggest that you make a backup of the registry . How? Type regedit in the search bar in the startmenu, then press on enter, confirm the UAC, click file-> export, choose a file name and choose where you want to save the exported .reg file, select (dot) all under Export range option, type a name for the .reg file and click on the Save button.
    ! The registry is not a place for fun if you know exactly what you are doing. You will have to pay dearly if something goes wrong!
    You can access the registry by typing regedit in the search bar in Startmenu, but you probably already know.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    All settings in the Compatibility tab can be set through the registry

    -Open REGEDIT
    -goto "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers".
    -create a new string value
    -name or rename the full path asked for example "C:\Program Explorer\iexplore.exe may.
    -Right click on the new channel and select Edit
    -type RUNASADMIN in line with value data; This will rank the program to run as administrator.
    This allows you to bypass the graphical mode of editing the parameters. Instead, you change the registry settings. And of course, you can ignore the advances
    The shortcut properties. Better start the program by default
    Administrator mode! : o ;)

    I used it for Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) which is part of the
    System.

    A shortcut on the desktop can be configured to run as administrative mode.
    But, if I run the IE7 browser, leave a link URL or Favorite, that this doesn't
    work and Windows Vista it will run in User Mode... UNLESS I CHANGED
    THESE OPTIONS WITH REGEDIT. To start regedit click on Start Menu, then
    "Run...". "type REGEDIT. EXE or REGEDIT.

    Other Options and examples .
    Always in the key called a HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers you can add more variables:

    RUNASADMIN: I just said, run as administrator of the program
    : rolleyes:;
    256COLOR: run the program in 256 colors;
    640 x 480: Add this value to run a game or another application in a lower
    RES;
    DISABLETHEMES: to disable visual themes Windows 4 adds that the app;
    DISABLEDWM: Disabled Desktop Composition;

    HIGHDPIAWARE: Disable the display timing of ppp settings high;

    ELEVATECREATEPROCESS: I don't know, unknown function. : confused:

    VALUES of COMPATIBILITY (not use'em together, only by app!):
    Win95: Add the Windows 95 compatibility mode;
    Win98: Add Windows Me or 98 compatibility mode;
    NT4SP5: Mode NT 4.0 Service Pack 5 Com;
    Win2000: Tap to add compatibility mode Windows 2 K;
    WINXPSP2: Windows XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility Mode;
    WINSRV03SP1: Windows Server 2003 SP 1 com mode

    Windows also creates these chains of the option when you change the compatibility
    Settings in the properties of the selected executable (graphics mode is not
    Regedit mode).

  • Fallout 3 PC is playable on Windows 7 in compatibility mode?

    The Windows 7 Compatibility Center lists Fallout 3 as being incompatible with Windows 7. It will not work in vanilla Windows 7 or Windows 7 even with the compatibility mode Vista/XP on what it means?

    Bingiton,
    If you haven't already done so, then browse the thread that Hordie posted.  It doesn't have a lot of discussion on FO3 getting to work on Windows 7.  Officially since the Bethesda site, FO3 is not listed as compatible with Windows 7, but there are many people who work on Windows 7.  You can also check this thread.

  • Programs running in Compatibility Mode (Windows 98) does not work (or more)

    For years, I have been (re-) installation file SETUP.exe (Epson status monitor of 1998) in Compatible Mode on a regular basis.  I right click on the file SETUP.exe, then I push properties-> compatibility-> Mode Compatible and complete under Windows 98/Windows Me.  Sometimes I run the file SETUP.exe in Windows 2000 mode also, never a problem.

    However, recently, I used DLLArchive and now the sweet Epson no longer works.  Resettlement does not either, as it must be installed in Compatible Mode and that no longer works.  In addition, run the file SETUP.exe in any Mode Compatible (Win95, 98, Me, NT, 2000) no longer works, even in non-compliant.

    I still get the same error:

    "To install EPSON Status Monitor 2, you have Windows95, NT3.1 or NT 4.0"

    While SETUP.exe is clearly compatible Win95/98.

    Earlier today, I couldn't use the Compatibility Assistant programs, whenever I had a "marscore.dll is missing" error when opening start-> Help and Support.  This problem is now solved: help and Support, and then the program compatibility Wizard work fine (I think).

    Any suggestions how to solve the compatibility problem?

    How can I check what DLL files are needed?

    Thanks in advance, Johan

  • Are obsolete root of trust certificates required to use XP mode / compatibility mode on my Windows 7 computer?

    For example, I have two PKI certificates that are necessary and confidence of Windows XP, but they are absent from the trust list in Windows 7:

    Why are these certificates on a Windows 7 computer?

    It is the responsibility of the administrator to remove certificates that have exceeded their expiration date?

    That would limit comparability to turn back? Would be the removal of expired certificates limit the functionality of the operating system compatibility modes?

    Hi Douglas,.

    According to the shooting, description and screen of the problem it seems that you are connected to a domain environment. Yes, you are right that these certificates on a computer Windows 7 requires administrator permissions to remove. However, if you need additional support, you can try to republish your query on the TechNet community.

    Hope that the information provided was useful. Feel free to post on the forum if you have any concerns more associated with Windows.
