  What happens if you go to file... Open and then click the folder directly view menu above your files. You can do a right click and go in the fields that are available, or click on 'name', and it in order.

  Press the Windows key + R
  Type netplwiz and press enter
  Remove the check mark from "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

  I'm still going for you recommend to not remove this option for obvious reasons, but the above, you should get what you want.

  Every day I get a pop up box that says: "the folder encryption: to unlock your encrypted file enter password: ' with a field for the password.  Problem is that I have never encrypted a file on my system, ever.  So, I wonder if it's someone who has had access to my office and doing something I'm not aware of (I just got an email a week ago in my spam to my email address, advertising Viagra... indicating somehow my system has been compromised) or if I just sort of something I'm not aware of.

  I would not rely on Norton 360 to be sure that your computer is 100% clean. At least analyze with the free version of MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware , too.

  Then if the problem persists, the next time you get the context menu run the the Task Manager or free utility process monitor to see what is running on your system. You can also look under control panel > scheduled tasks to see if there is something related in here. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  When you have the form open in the LC Designer, go to file / form properties...

  The PDF Security tab allows you to check to force the user to enter a password to open the form. If you tick this then the next time that you save the file, you will be asked to set the password. When users try to open the form in Acrobat, they must enter the password.

  

  Note the second option sets a password to open the form in the designer of the LC. If you do not set this password, so a user can bypass your password by opening the form in LC, deselect the required password and disabling passwords. Have a read of the help file for more information.
