  • WinXP stuck in Mode 'Safe '?

Recently, I was struck by a type of virus after clicking on a link sent by "Google Alerts".  In the process of 'cleansing' of the computer (with the help of a forum on Internet safety), I managed to mess up my Windows XP OS (Home).

When I boot to normal Windows XP 'Welcome' screen, the 'Administrator' account and my own account (with administrator privileges) are displayed, but a 3rd 'user' (with limited privileges) is not displayed.

Entering into WinXP, I feel a lot of faults (Windows Update, for example, show up with an error message and I can't "update" MSSE due to another error message).

My troubleshooting so far has led me to believe that my OS is somehow "stuck" in a version of "safe mode".

Any direction would be much appreciated

    Mike, thank you for responding.

While I waited several days for technical support MS get back to me, your suggestion has inspired me to start to tinker around... again... and I managed, somehow, to 'restore' my system successfully.

2 attempts to enter 'Safe Mode with Command Prompt' failed on my first (I have observed what appeared to be a list of 'safe mode' file/driver loads but it appeared to hang loading agp440.sys), on my third try the 'safe mode' initial screen appeared a moment... then 'disappeared' in the "loading WinXP" standard blue screen then on the same non-standard login page 'user' is displayed.  This time, however, when I logged on WinXP, it was in a 'command prompt' window full-screen.  Weird.

I tried sfc/scannow, but I was, apparently, still locked in a broken version of 'safe mode' and the following error message is displayed.

Windows file protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files.  The specific error code is 0x000006ba [the RPC server is unavailable.].

I discovered that using Ctrl + alt + delete has to the "Task Manager", but I found the office completely naked when I arrived... and the 'safe mode' window display  I entered "Explorer" in the window "run" task manager and was able to restore the office... but anything else would be responsible (network, MSSE, etc.).  so... I tried to recharge using 'Normal', then "SafeMode w/networking", but now I couldn't get out of the full screen login "command prompt".  Bad and worse thought that I have.

Get now desperate, I tried the option 'restore the last working' in the list of F8 and, wonder of wonders, I was back to normal!  I don't know how he is restored (perhaps from a restore MSSE point?) since I had turned off 'system restore' during the process of cleaning of virus and had not yet turned on he back.

Sorry for the length, but I thought that you would like to read the success story.

    Thanks again for the help.

I'm trying to get my computer out of safe mode and it does not work. I press the f8 key while it is booting and the start menu appears. I then select the option for windows to start normally, but it always ends up back in safe mode. I'm not what else to do.

    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Using the method of System Configuration tool:

  • Yoga 2 Pro: randomly switches modes even when closed and the peripheral use

I recently bought a Yoga 2 Pro, and I love it, except for an extremely annoying issue.

It toggles randomly modes on me without moving the screen. I have not been able to develop a model for switching, it seems to be completely random. This morning I use this connected to a monitor of periperal via HDMI with the lid closed, and it was fine for about an hour and then started switching of the modes - tablet, back to laptop, the marquee, stand up, back to laptop, for tent...

One of the benefits of its use with peripheral keyboard are the other modes don't disable the keyboard, but it is to randomly change the orientation of the screen. When I used it on its own without the devices, I can be typing away in the configuration of the laptop and all of a sudden it switches modes and the laptop is disabled.

Sometimes, it is very well for hours and then will be randomly 10 times in 30 seconds.

I know that I can turn on the rotation lock, but I just that it works correctly. He has been behaving in this way since the first night I bought it.

All my windows updates are current and I reinstalled the drivers of transition of Yoga.

Help, please. I need my computer for United work and cannot have a malfunction all the time and also cannot afford to lose if, during a period of time to have it fixed.

I think it's finally fixed, but he forced me to return the unit for repair.

Repair Center took two will solve the problem, but the ultimate fix seems to have required the replacement of the LCD: I guess there is some kind of sensor attached to the LCD unit. They replaced the motherboard and reconfigured the unit before replacing the LCD screen, so I can't be certain that he was not also a problem with the motherboard.

So I guess I would recommend all those who encounter this issue gets their unit in a Service Center for repair before the warranty runs out. The warranty repair process wasn't as smooth as I would have liked, but ultimately it looks like my machine works fine now, and I don't think that any amount of waiting for updates of pilot would have set it.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - sleep setting missing after upgrade to Windows 10 RTM

Here's another interesting event. I use sleep mode all the time, that's what happens "when I close the lid. After upgrade Windows 8.1 for Windows 10 RTM, "standby mode" is not found. "when I close the lid" and related parameters in power management have an empty selection, sleep does not appear in the drop-down list of choices. It seems revenue to "Put to sleep" by default. By reading the other Windows 10 forums I know sleep is supported in Windows 10, how can I get that back? I tried to download and install the latest driver for power management (as dated 17/07/2015, I think) but I get the message that "you already have a newer version of the driver installed", I cancelled out of the facility. Are there newer drivers planned for soon? I can shoot with Microsoft Basic Display Driver (3200 x 1800 only, see my other ad in the forum), although I used a different resolution in Windows 8.1 and hibernate instead of mode 'sleep', but I hope that these features will work soon. Thank you, Bob

    * Sleep is back * after having solved my problem of graphics driver. Fixed. See the thread «driver Intel HD graphics on Yoga 2 Pro fail after...» "for more details. Cheers, Bob

  • Yoga 2 Pro - cursor flashes when moving on some programs

I have a Yoga 2 Pro with Windows 10. Some programs (for example Thunderbird, LibreOffice), the cursor flashes when moving on the program window. I made sure my screen and touchpad drivers are up to date as well as the BIOS of my laptop. What else could be the cause? It's a bit irritating.

Mod edit: System model added to the front of the subject line to improve visibility / clarity.

Went before and refreshed; things seem to work fine now. I guess the moral is 'don't do an upgrade directly from Windows 8.1 to 10'.

  • Yoga 2 pro Energy Manager freeze on Windows 10

    Hi all

It's my first time writing here, but I went through through the forums for a few months and it has helped me solve most of my problems. Kudos to you all.

I recently updated my Yoga 2 pro to win 10, and everything works smoothly, with the exception of the Manager of energy.

When I open it I can use it without any problem at all basic mode (switching between energy modes works ok).

However, when I click on the upper right to display the parameters, (especially to change the plan to charge for my battery and so), the program freezes and does nothing but consuming about 20% of my CPU.

Return to win 8.1, I used to switch between mode of conservation % max60, or deppending of fast charge on what I would need. Now, I can't use.

I use the latest version available on the website (1.0.1.51) and updates of the Win10 system are all this up-to-date.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Greetings!

I had this problem and found that it was due to a conflict with the Teamviewer application. I have disabled the start of Teamviewer Windows startup and the energy Manager now works as expected.
