Computer won't start and the screen is weird looking

After the maid left today, I noticed my computer screen on my DELL PC running Windows XP HOME Edition (service pack 2 or 3 - I don't know) seemed strange. The pixels have been weird in several areas of the screen and the cursor froze. I tried to turn off the computer, but it will turn off, then I disconnected and finally had to hold the power switch on the CPU for a few seconds to turn it off. When I tried to turn it back on again, it showed Windows startup to the top of page - but the screen still seemed weird - kind of out of touch. The computer does not start. It's just a black screen with a cursor in the middle of the screen is frozen and the mouse does not move. I tried to push the F-8 when starting Windows screen came. He took me to a different boot options menu, but always with the print-screen out of phase. I tried a few startup options, but it just brought me back to the Windows boot screen with the logo being shifted - sort of split and strange looking. Is it possible that my maid has done something to the computer, wiping down? Is it possible to fix this? It's never happened before. Can someone PLEASE? Thank you

Hi Goldie309,

I suggest that you reset the default monitor settings using the buttons available on the computer screen and check if that helps.

You can also connect another monitor to the computer to check if the monitor is defective.

Yes, it looks like motherboard failure

• Computer does not start after the screen of the bios, Compaq Presario SR1023WM

Ok. Trying to fix a friend's computer and seem to have met a strange barrier.

Problem: The computer does not start after the bios screen.

Details: When you turn on the computer, the compaq logo with intel inside is and has the < F1 Setup > and < F10 System Recovery > options listed as well. And that's it as far as the computer becomes. After that the computer just locked up, no work of buttons on the keyboard lights keyboard ect ect. I tried the puree on the F1 key, as soon as I turn on the computer and I can handle so he can say * entering setup * but it freezes again after this point. I already tried to eliminate the possible sources of the problem, removed all expansion cards, HDD and Dvd Rom module only disconnected, only memory (256 MB ddr 2700), power, vga and keyboard connected. Ive also used the jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos, hoping that would solve the problem without success. I tried using a different memory stick and different memory as well... Tried to use both a ps2 and a usb keyboard... Ive even tried pulling the rider for the protection of the bios password (even if she did not have a password on it, just try everything I can think of).

The installed bios version is 3.1, and that's all that I know on the computer at this point, except that the website tells me to him.

Try to clear the CMOS again but this time remove CMOS battery and hold the power button on a few seconds. Replace the battery, then try to start back to the top.

• Satellite Pro 6000 freezes and the screen is weird random pattern

Hello

I recently bought a SP6000 second-hand advertised as having "graphics problems". After 10 minutes or use the laptop freezes and the screen has a strange random pattern all acorss it. The speakers are also a strange hum. I have to stop the laptop and restart.

I've updated the bios and drivers for card video from the toshiba site, but he always does. Can anyone help?

Hello

It's not easy to say why this problem occurs. You have purchased a second hand unit. It is possible that your device has a hardware malfunction, but I can't give you an answer why it is happening. I suppose that temperature increases after 10 min of use.
Maybe this could be a problem. It could also be a fault of the motherboard. But these are just suggestions. In my opinion, you should ask the service for detailed information.

• Computer does not start after the screen goes blank & Compaq.

Hello

A few weeks ago, I turned on my PC and it showed at the Compaq screen and then went to a blank screen & would not respond. I held the switch button to turn it off and after 4 attempts, it start fine. Next time, it took 20 attempts to initialize and now it does not start, it will be maybe if I try like 100 times he can do... The problem is when the Compaq screen comes up it comes only for like a second so I know that it does not start, if the Compaq screen stays for a few seconds as 3 + I know it will load windows and start.

History > the computer originally had XP and has been replaced with VISTA memory was 2 * 512MB, but it was a bit slow and I was advised to upgrade. I bought 2 * 1 GB memory and put it in my PC a few months there may be 5 + had no problem so far.

I tried the following:

Remove the memory and replace it. Remove the 2 * 1 GB of memory and its replacement by the Moose 2 * 512MB to check if the memory is at fault.

Cleaning of the dust around the fan (at this point, I removed the fan over the CPU and cleaned the thermal compound from the CPU to make it nice and shiny, only tried to start one time after that for a few seconds heard blowing fan and turend it took off. Depuis_lors, I realized that it wasn't just muck and had a purpose na derwiche put a little more on)

Remove the battery of the BIOS for half a day

Move jumpers CMOS from1, 2 to 2, 3 positions

I can not get into the same if BIOS start and hold F1 he will show me the BIOS for a second and then go to a black screen.

• Why my computer won't start, and where to go safe mode?

I had nothing but problems since then tried to switch to Windows7. Several attempts over the past two weeks, none worked. Then started getting the blue screen of death at random times. Today they came more often until it got the point where computer should restart and go straight to the blue screen of death.
Tried to reinstall Vista, I have had to do in safe mode, because I couldn't have what. Did not exist then. Now, I can't find it. Don't ask me why. If I knew, I wouldn't be here.
Vista has been subject to half way through installation when SURPRISE! Blue screen of death. After that, he says that there is no disc in the drive, then no player, then not whatever. I remember even now, I'm so frustrated. Changed the CMOS to boot from the CD Rom settings, did not a thing. Can't find safe mode more. Never heard of that one before.
What he does now is during startup, it happens at "Verifying DMI Pool Data data... ", and then says"disc error occurred, press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. " So now, it's in this endless loop.
So, is he dead? I'm afraid to change other parameters, because it's a white box. He got 2 readers of DVD, which now seem unnecessary. It is also a RAID configuration, and I never dealt with more than 1 hard drive before. At one point, I got to a screen (no idea how) that allow me to achieve a memory check. If I remember correctly, he said that memory was fine, but there was a hardware problem?
Any ideas?... Anyone?... Beuller? ... Beuller?

Thanks for the reply. I finally get it working again. Find an old email of the person who built it, and fixed it without delay. There is nothing wrong with the hard drive, it was fine. In fact, 'they' were very good. The problem is in the bios settings. After I changed it to boot from the CD drive and it did not work, I put in some way something to the default settings. Big mistake with a raid system. He apparently wanted to a single hard drive, and this computer has four. Or is it 5? How long I forgot. The user then, stupid mistake.
I will, however, never try to reinstall Windows 7 on this computer. If someone wants to give me an old, used computer, I'll try, but I got to risk it.

• Satellite L40 - does not start and the screen is completely blank

Hey guys,.

A good friend of mine has a laptop Toshiba Satellite L40, who died recently, and she has not been able to find the warranty documents yet, so I wanted to ask if maybe you could help.

Basically, what's happened is that one day she was using the computer and not have noticed that it was not plugged in to charge, and before completely lost all power, the computer went into automatic hibernation mode.
It plugged into the charger, the lights indicated that he was in charge. A few hours later she was trying to turn on, but nothing. the computer itself gives off a sound very low, as if turned on, but the screen is completely blank. She said that it's almost like she couldn't make the thing out of hibernation mode. He continues to give sound and some indicators remain lit until the battery is running out of charge.
She has Windows XP is installed on the computer.

Perhaps someone could help as to what is happening here? 1 million thanks!

Hello

Weird, but have you tried to remove the adaptor AC/DC and battery? Wait one hour and then reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Maybe the laptop restarts.

If this isn't the case, I think that you need assistance from an authorized service provider. It seems to be a hardware problem and the laptop should be checked by a technician from Notepad to determine the cause of this problem.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

Hello

Functions of the screen saver and sleep depend on the computer to detect an idle state. An idle state is reached when the computer detects no activity on the system. Once reached the idle state, it must maintain a State of rest for the period that you define in the element.

If you have any device connected to the system that periodically checks for a specific action, this device can cause the system to achieve or maintain an idle state.

Some devices, such as a device of VOIP phone that checks for incoming phone calls is an example. If you have a MagicJack or any other similar device, try to remove them and check if this solves the problem.

Another culprit is an e-mail or instant messaging program that periodically checks for new messages.

Tell us what you find.

Seems odd. Startup Repair should have solved the problem.

Hi FrankSpencer,

Follow the steps below and see if they help.

Step 1:

Do Startup Repair from the windows installation disc and check that if it helps, here is the link:
