  I'm working on a purchase order that has some conditional fields / pages that need to be visible / hidden based on the user's selection. However when I close it, then reopen the form all parts are passed to default view (visible or hidden). How can I prevent that (other than to print the form in PDF format).

  Under form properties... (Tab) default values, you can assign 'keep changes to scripts to form when registering' automatic.  If it is set to manual and you want to keep it this way you add the code in the initialize event to restore the State of form.

  You can use the built form in SET_ITEM_INSTANCE_PROPERTY procedure and the appropriate property... (UPDATE_ALLOWED = PROPERTY_FALSE).

• The fields of form on some sites don't is loading not in sea Monkey 2.3 but in IE.

  Just moved in to a workstation with Windows 7 and Sea Monkey 2.3, and since then, fields of form on the site, I was able to access in the past (UPS, MCI sites and vendor) are not visible. Models of web pages will load, but the entry fields that appear, so that their legends that accompanies it, do not. I can't go to IE and sites annoying loading very well, but I'd rather spend in sea Monkey where are all my modules and pssrds.

  Best way to do is the following:

  -Open the PDF in Acrobat.

  -Go to tools - form - form more Options - export data.

  -Save form data in an XML file somewhere on your system.

  -Open the XML file in a plain text editor (I recommend Notepad ++).

  -Let's say you want to replace all the years in dates "2013" to '2014 '. Do a global search & replace '2013-' to '2014' - (I added the dashboard in order to ensure that only the date fields are changed).

  -Save the XML file (maybe under a new name).

  -Go back to the PDF file and now go to tools - forms - more form Options - import data.

  -Select the modified XML file and import it.

  -Fact!

  I have an existing VS C++ application and I would like to add the ability to enumerate all fields of form data in an existing PDF file. Before saying anything more, I must admit that I am a total newbie to Adobe technology. This fact will probably be quite obvious in a few sentences: - D.

  In any case, I think I should use the portion of the IAC to the API of Acrobat. I had downloaded the SDK of X, and I found the files acrobat.h and acrobat.cpp that provide the CAcroApp wrapper. I am able to create this object as follows...

  Life is good. Now, to enumerate the data fields of form (appropriate terminology?) in a PDF file, I * think * I need to get a pointer to the AFormAut.App COM interface. Of course, I can do this, as I've done above and, in fact, I have and it works. But then I would have some sort of sweet wrapper handy for this interface - just like the wrappers in acrobat.h. I also want a pony for Christmas! - D... anywayyyyy, such a wrapper is there? Can you give me some tips on how to get from there where I am above that it is able to call the method ExportAsFDF (I think that's what I need)?

  Using AcroAVDoc instead of AcroPDDoc, the get_fields method seems to work. Perhaps one can post an example of MFC project as soon as I get this job.

• Fields in forms on several layers

  Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me an answer on this or point me to a resource for this.

  I have an interactive brochure for a conference with muliple buttons that turns visabilities on layer and outside (there is a button for the time display every day for Conference etc.)

  I want to include a simple registration form and I want the form to be on a layer so that it can be displayed when you press a specific button (which sets the visibility of the layer).  Obviously if we can work on a single layer, why not several forms on several layers, hence the title of the post. :))

  Is this possible in Acrobat?  I have searched and tried and have not met with success.  BTW yes - I know that I could add an extra page with a button pointing to this page, but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution :)

  Any help, guidance etc would be greatly appreciated.

  You pouvez promote fields of form on one layer (BCG) using preflight in Acrobat Pro, but it's a very bad idea - the specification PDF can allow it to happen, but the Acrobat user interface was never designed with fields covered in BCG in mind, so things like the ability to highlight the fields on DMB start to do strange things.

  The 'proper' method is to use scripts to show and hide individual fields by activating / deactivating the attribute visibility, rather than promotion of these in a BCG. The script can of course also set BCG States (e.g. to show/hide the labels) but the form lives on base level. The UI knows how to deal with very well hidden fields.

• Problems using the tools of accessibility on PDF interactive with complex tables and fields in form (in AcroDC)

  Although I worked earlier in the accessibility check (will be abbreviated as "axs" later) before using the Checker axs documents, what he used Windows and Acrobat XI a year ago. I am now responsible for creating interactive forms that are available on a Mac (platform I prefer), that have been designed only visually in InDesign, then transferred in Acrobat X or XI where someone placed the form fields and then handed to me to settle the tab for end-users order and make them accessible to people with disabilities (Government org). Problem is, some of these documents are extremely dense arrays, in which each cell of the table is a checkbox or a radio button I have several questions:

  (1) the order of reading has something to do with the tab order? (I spent hours to get the tab order works the way it should and do not know if by clicking any axs tool that will change and cancel all my work.)

  (2) I need to mark an entire page, more or less, as a table but when I am in reading of editing tool (TURO), I get the crosshairs of hanging around that object, but when I go to playback control panel, and then click Table, everything is deselected and nothing else happens. My goal is to get to the table to label the lines headings and column editor, etc. What is going on? What I have to do all this in the Panel tags instead?

  (3) in the Panel tags, I see a table with 30 lines, which is what I have visually, but when I select the TRs and TDs nothing gets selected on the form, so I don't know how to get the content of the form "in" these TDs... it is a very complicated document and I'm getting confused. " Not a lot of experts out there on Axs AND Acrobat DC dealing with this and I'm frustrated! There's a guy on Lynda.com including videos watched re: similar topics, but in his case, he got a table which is just text and it is small, and his method is by selecting each cell of the table with the cross and he the tags labeling a 'cell', and then go in the Panel and work on the appropriate type / # Table elements slide autour stuff in the appropriate lines etc. My picture has lines 30 and 13 columns, and approaching the fields of interactive form in most of the cells... This is not practical, but do not know if there is a quick/accurate way to get the table recognized otherwise?

  Yes, treating large complex tables can be the chore of accessibility PDF much time and frustrating. First question - these tables of data or layout tables? Several forms are organized visually using layout tables, but do not really present data organized in rows and columns. Marking this content in a table would be run against failure condition Matterhorn Protocol 15-004, "content is marked as a table of information that is not organized in rows and columns. Instead, work in the Tags pane, drag all the elements of content out of the structure of the table and re-tag/organize according to the needs. The Suite of PDF/UA reference has an example of form (document 10) that you can refer to-although its layout tables is relatively low. A simple structure, detroit forward should be easier to fix at a large table and also easier for a user to read assistive technology.

  However, if these are legitimate data tables... I find the reading pane to be worse than useless. The Tags pane sets the reading order for assistive technology. Something that I find useful is to break down a complex table into manageable pieces, clean up the subtables can recombine. You can also consider assessing NetCentric CommonLook - I do not use it, but it has a good reputation for working with arrays. I don't think it's available for Mac, however.

• Conditional field to another field? [Fax info]

  I am creating a form in Adobe Acrobat Professional for the commands to use here at the office. I have 2 fields for contact information that I am trying to "connect" to the user, so that simply selecting a provider in the ZONE 1 (in a drop-down box) could fill information fax from this provider in ZONE 2. I have looked at javascript and conditional formatting, but based on the examples I read that I can't make it work quite. Does anyone have a better way to get this working?

  the easiest way is to set the 'Export' value for the "point", name of the seller, to the fax number of the seller. You can then define the calculation script customized to the "Fax number" filed to the value of the field "Vendor1.

• Required fields on forms

  Currently, we build all of our forms in HTML and uplaod in Eloqua... This does not allow us to... "required" fields to order the to Eloqua, you need to create your form in the Eloqua model.  someone has found a simple way around this... an ability to make the required fields in the form?

  Paul, the jQuery validation plugin (one of the many available) makes it very easy to add validation in your forms client-side and will also keep your code much cleaner & easy to manage than the cut and paste options, especially if you need to change the form or add new fields to a later date, etc.

• Why some fields of forms created have more properties? Actions - Format - validate - calculate

  I'm new to Acrobat DC.

  I created a few forms.

  On the first shape that I created, a field of text, for example, the tabs that I listed above are NOT available in the text field properties, but in a form I just created today, they are. I'm confused as to why there is a difference between the two forms.

  In both cases, I got a PDF file that I used to turn it into a form.

  For example, in the first file, I have a phone number field and there is no option to format in the format of phone number - as I can on the second form I created only has general - appearance - Position - Options in the form of tabs on the properties of text field and has no other options I listed in the previous question.

  Any help appreciated.

  If this happens with some files in your preparation and click on return to the form Acrobat (or something similar to that), and he should be back on the original options.

  I have an ASP page classic as querys a SQL database using Request.QueryString and poster then a page data in a repeating table.

  Do I have to do is request a second database (which may not be joined in a SQL query) passing the data of a recordset object to a form field onLoad.

  Is it achievable?

  Dreamweaver has fallen classic ASP in favour for a long time, so there are not likely to make a lot of people with the knowledge to help you here. You might do better in an ASP forum or in the corner of coding forum.
