  • Install 11g R2 with customer 8i under Windows XP

    Hi all

I had installed 11g R2 on a XP machine with 8i client (please do not laugh: p), the installation was successful, but I was able to connect to the database of the local computer but was unable to connect to remote databases (which I am actually paid for!). Now I uninstalled 11g (uninstall applications folder was not deleted because of batch file was used, I manually deleted it) and able to connect to the remote server. Can someone please guide me with the steps I should follow to not only install correctly 11 GR 2, but also use remote DBs through publishers as a SQL Developer and toad.

    Thanks for reading the post.
    * 009 *.

Oracle had removed 9i DB download from his site. Anyway try with http://edelivery.oracle.com/. Otherwise, you will need to check-up with your DBA for their installation file.

To answer your question, you can have several client on the same computer, you must just to be sure that they are installed in different paths.

And I doubt that you can use the same version of Toad you use to connect to 8i, 9i, or 10g to 11g. You must use the new version of Toad to access to 11g.

  • Can I install 11g on cygwin? If so, how?

I try to install 11g on cygwin, but I get errors as follows:

runInstaller: line 65: [: too many arguments]
    / usr/tmp/Database/install /. Yes: /usr/tmp/database/install/.oui: cannot execute binary file

No, you can't. Use VMware and install a version of Linux taken in charge. Cygwin provides a UNIX API, which allows to work "UNIX-like" on the Windows platform, but it is neither a UNIX or Linux complete distribution.

    Hello Prakash,

It's an indication of the cause of your problem:

    Apache Tomcat/6.0.36

It's a guess from my previous post: you run on the server that you have installed XE on an Apache Tomcat. Used by your Tomcat default port is 8080, which is also the default port for the HTTP internal database server that is used to signify the request you are trying to access.
As I mentioned before, you have one of the following options:
    (A) change the port used by your Apache Tomcat, either by using the configuration gui (if available) or by changing the configuration of the connector in the server.xml file in the directory conf of Tomcat.
    (B) change the port used by the internal HTTP server by issuing the following command as a sysdba/sys:

    exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport();
    commit;
    alter system register;

    ... where you replace ++ with an alternate port, e. g. 8088. You must change the URL of your link to apex / http://127.0.0.1:8080 / f? p = 4950 to apex / http://127.0.0.1:8088 / f? p = 4950 in this case.
    (C) disable the internal HTTP server and deploy APEX Listener on your Tomcat. It will be a little more difficult, as a listener APEX will require a few installation steps more and Tomcat is not a container JEE taken care of (but functional) for this task.

I recommend you start with B) and see if you get everything works as expected.

  • Discoverer of Standalone install 11g

It's the process that I intend to follow to install on RHEL 5, 64 bit O.S. To be used against the e-Business suite 11i

    (1) run the RCU version 11.1.1.6.0 to create patterns of discoverer

    (2) install OWS version 10.3.6

    (3) install 11 g release 1 (11.1.1.2.0)

    (4) to apply the patches to upgrade group to 11.1.6.0

    (5) configure etc.

My question is can I use the version of the UCR and web logical server that is compatible with Fusion middleware 11.1.6.0 or should I use 11.1.1.2.0-compatible versions

    Thank you

    Hello
    Thanks for the kind words.

When you say: if I install on top of OWS 10.3.6 11.1.1.2.0 can you be more specific?

11g UCR is installed in the 11g database.

Discoverer 11g 11.1.1.2 does not go on top of OWS 10.3.6 but on another server. You basically install the software only, but DO NOT configure. Then you apply the 11.1.1.6 install, which replaces all the files required to transform 11.1.1.2 11.1.1.6. With that you run Setup and connect it to OWS 10.3.6. Do not connect 11.1.1.2 to 10.3.6 OWS where they are not compatible.

The version of weblogic is certified with the version of the middleware and they are correlated on the release of point like this:
    10.3.2 - Middleware 11.1.1.2 OWS
    OWS 10.3.3 - Middleware 11.1.1.3
    OWS 10.3.4 - Middleware 11.1.1.4
OWS 10.3.5 - Middleware 11.1.1.5 (no Discoverer for this version)
    OWS 10.3.6 - Middleware 11.1.1.6

The above is documented in certification matrices.

    Hope this helps

  • Don't see AWM in the menus after complete installed 11g

I installed Enterprise edition full 11 g DB 11.1.0.7.0 database and documentation indicates that this includes the Oracle Client. However, I don't see the 'OLAP Analytic Workspace Manager and spreadsheet' option in the "Integrated Management Tools" submenu as I do on other facilities where I installed separately to the customer. Can someone remind me why this is? I searched the file AWM.exe but it has not found on the machine.

Also, the Oracle installation program shows that 11g 'Oracle for OLAP' option is actually installed. Thank you

    Hello

You must download it from here. This comes as a separate client.

Recently, I installed orace 11g on the new linux box.
After that I installed, I rebooted the server. Restarts, I am not able to connect to the database.
    Suugest me please.

If you want to start the database manually here are the steps to follow.

    1. define the environment.

    export ORACLE_SID =
    Export ORACLE_HOME =
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH = $ORACLE_HOME/lib
    export PATH = $PATH: $ORACLE_HOME/bin

    2. start the database.

    sqlplus / as sysdba
    startup

    3. start the receiver.

    lsnrctl start

When you try to download software from http://otn.oracle.com download link, you will be prompted to read and accept the OTN license. Please read the "license fees".

(for example you cannot deploy in production, further development after deployment in production etc until and unless you purchase the appropriate license.

The license does NOT include the fixes. Patches are available only if you buy a Support after the purchase of the license.

  • Could not install 11g database

    Hello

I downloaded the zip for oracle 11g

    of http://oracle.com/technology/software

After that when I unzip it and when I click on setup.exe it says
Author could not be the subject of an audit"and it says"setup.exe is not a valid win32 application ".

How to get back on that?

No, iSQLPlus is removed from the establishment since 11g. You must use sqlplus command line or SQL Developer.

  • Install 11g R2 on Win 2008 R2 64-bit error.

Hi, during installation (software only) 11.2.0.1 on the o/s above, I get the following error:
    File not found: D:\App\user\product\11.2\owb\external\oc4j_applications\applications\WFMLRSVCApp.ear.
My user is a local administrator.
If I continue, I do get a lot of errors more "file not found".
I removed (using the deinstall program) and ran a second time, "Run as Administrator", but still get the same error.
    The zip is the Oracle.com/technetwork.
    Any ideas?

You unzip the 2 files in a single folder zip? You will need to unzip them in a single folder.

    Unpack as below

    -Create a directory C:\tmp\11201

    -Unzip win32_11gR2_database_1of2.zip and win32_11gR2_database_2of2.zip under C:\tmp\11201

  • Install the APEX on a virtual machine with 11g db xe

    Hello.

I'll install APEX in my Centos 64 bit (guest) running in a VMWare on my Mac OS (host).

    I'm downloading:

    (1) database 11 g R2 XE
    (2) Developer SQL 3.1
    (3) APEX 3.1
    (4) Web server

And I have a few questions:

    (1) it is necessary to install the instant client on mac to install APEX or it is possible to install it by using sqldeveloper?
    (2) if I need to install the instant client, its possible to use those http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/intel-macsoft-096467.html here to access a 11 g R2 xe or there is a specific version for this version of the DB?
    (3) could you please share your experience using the above configuration? :)

    Thank you

When you install a database, you'll have to SQL * more as a tool to access. You don't need additional client software (including SQL Developer). In order to install the Apex, SQL * more is all you need (Setup Guide walks you through SQL * Plus the facility anyway). Why you would do in SQL Developer? It only complicated things.

    So:
    -Download and install 11g XE
    -Run SQL * more
    -Download and install Apex
