I understand you are trying to set up the network on the Mac folder.

I'll be happy to help you.

You will need to contact Apple to get user and password name.

I would ask them to help the network also folder setup.

Here are the steps below to configure the network folder if you want to try.

    1. create a new folder on your computer.

    2. right-click (CTRL left click if you use the keyboard of the Mac) and select read.

    3. unlock the screen, set the expression to everyone read/write &, located under the share permissions &...

    5. click on the Options button, mark the share files and folders using SMB (Windows) and click done

    6. under shared folders, click the sign more and select the configured folder.

    7. ensure that "everyone" permissions are set to read & write under the list of users as well.

    8. you will see the IP at the top of this screen, make a note to configure the EWS page.

You must use the following path:

  • Why update KB2536276 is originally a block in permissions to access an SMB server network?

On July 15, 2011 Windows updates has downloaded the update of security KB2536276, but during the installation it wouldn't let me access SMB servers on our network, can someone suggest what needs to be done on our SMB servers to compensate for the windows update or otherwise how permantely jump never install this update through WSUS group policy?

    Thank you very much

    Mike

We found a new solution to this problem, just change the domain name on the configuration file SMB to more than 7 characters. Should not even be a domain name legitimate no matter what, and then restart the SMB share, doesn't tappear to be something to do with encryption for us.  A big thank you to all those who responded to the initial question

  • NAS200 shows "No fromatted" and the use of disk on MAC?

Hi, I just bought NAS200 it was a bargain for $109 at the Frys.com. I want to do wireless backup with backup large 2-3 to SATA drive. So I bought 1 x 1.5 TB and 1 x 1 TB Seagate barracuda SATA drive. Some how I am so confused to use it with MAC I did different things to operate including firmware update. I case Thermaltake SATA 2 bays and I made the disk of 1 TB in MAC format using disk utility but NAS200 is not recognize it.

My goal of buying the NAS200 has storage wireless and it is fast and I want to store the files in the way I'm storing in USB drive with journaled MAC OS X file system and do not use FAT or NTFS etc.

How to access these drives in MAC is also an important issue for me and I did a lot of research on Google and finally came here to better understand things.

I've read a few articles on the configuration of SMB that is made, but because the disk is not formatted, it has does not work properly.

    Please help me.

I think that NAS200 support FAT32, NTFS and EXT. If you have formatted your drive using MAC OS, then I think he should have formatted your drive's format of HSF. Now, you must delete the partition HSF type and connect the drive directly to the NAS200 without formatting, then the format of the player using the NAS200.

Once you configure all the settings on your NAS200 and set the disk, then you must map the drive on your MAC computer using smb.

  • NAS hard drive not accessible more: the device is not configured to accept connections on port 'files and printers sharing (SMB).

    Dear,

I am desperately looking for a solution for my specific problem how access my NAS.

I have a hard drive from Western Digital NAS (Book Live) which worked fine until now. Yet, I just changed my internet provider and I now have a new Fritzbox 6360. Now, I can not access the hard disk of the commune of programs in Windows. I contacted two suppliers already, but without success. I think I have some incorrect settings in my Windows 7, 64 bit. This is the situation:

-NAS is still working with my old Fritzbox, for testing that I went back-> ok

-I can access the NAS via the dashboard or a TwonkyServer-> ok

-When I access it via Windows Explorer, I wonder is to give my credentials (which don't work) or I get the error message: the device is not configured to accept connections on port 'files and printers sharing (SMB).

-J' changed my IP address (dynamic even static) and connections, password-> without success.

-J' tried SFC with the result that found no violation of integrity. -> ok.

    Any idea?

Can you please turn off the NAS, unplug the cable and Ethernet cable? Wait about 2 minutes then plug all the cables back in. Any security program or firewall to this computer? Try disabling it for now.

You have another PC or laptop which has Windows 7/8 and try to access the NAS?

You have a smartphone or a Tablet and download an application for the WD NAS and then try to access files.

Hi Mr. Bennet Martin! Thank you for your response to my query. Articles somehow helped, but just to let you know, when I go to 'Share with' option, for some reason any is that I've only got 'advanced sharing. Anyway I always tried to navigate and wander through the dialog box, and here are the steps I'd like to share:

Local disk > share with > Advanced sharing > sharing tab > Advance sharing button > check the box "share this folder" > permissions * > click Add a button > click Advanced button > click on 'Search' > select NETWORK > CLICKED OK

Once the NETWORK is added, I clicked on all the check boxes under permissions to "allow".

He FINALLY solved the problem! I can access my own files on the same laptop when I go to 'Network' on the left side of the pane. Now the other laptop can also access all my files on the selected drive. Thank you for all your help Sir and I hope that this can also be useful to others! God bless you!

  • SMB or afp for itunes?

    Hello

    I have a problem...

I use a synology NAS to my itunes library (4 TB of data to date, videos and music). I don't know why, my library files are on two volumes "iTunes" on my desk:

    • SMB://DiskStation/iTunes,
    • AFP://DiskStation._afpovertcp._tcp.local/iTunes

When I look at the names of files in iTunes, some are in a volume of itunes, the others are in a volume of itunes-1.

It drives me crazy; my files are spread over 2 formats and I don't know what to do. iTunes is already hard enough.

I would like to have own unique access, how should I proceed?

Thank you for the compassion ;-)

back to iTunes seem not intended to be used in a NAS configuration. People do this, but it seems to be a little chance sometimes to how it behaves.

  • Slow connection to SMB/AFP file sharing

    Configuration:

    OSX 10.11.3 (15 D 21)

    Server V5.0.4

Running services: calendar, file sharing, Manager profiles, Time Machine, VPN, Web, Wiki, DNS, FTP sites, open the directory

We have a problem which has lasted for several months where clients that attempt to connect to file sharing (AFP or SMB makes no difference) takes too long to authenticate. He constantly takes ~ 40-45 seconds to open a session or even reject a bad password. The really strange part is that it affects all computers on our network with the exception of a Mac Mini. Seems not be customer specific, i.e. all users connect without delay on a Mac Mini and slowly on other computers. I was not able to determine differences in settings of network connection or on different computers, but I don't know there are parameters, I'm not aware of that.

Did someone met with something like that?

    Thanks in advance.

The faster connection Mac Mini there the active local folders?  Or using a faster SMB protocol?

  • How to backup without identifier (NFS vs SMB/AFP)

    Hello

you just bought a ReadyNAS 312 but do not yet know about some basic principles.

I want to use mainly as a backup destination, but also as the main source for backups Crashplan. In detail I will not install Crashplan headlessly on the NAS (totally not supported) but I prefer to install on my computer, which is then connected to the NAS through my line (just check, taken Crashplan supported files attached nas backups).

What I don't understand is how can automatically make sure Crashplan can see the files at all times... I think that this should be easy with NFS and Linux computers. I just need to configure actions to be mounted automatically at each start-up, right?

What, Mac computers, is even achievable with SMB/AFP so that I don't connect all the time in the Finder.

I know that these sounds of questions a bit silly, but it's the first time I have use a SIN 'serious '.

To be honest: sooner or later we will return only Linux boxes in the House, but at this point we can not yet get rid an Apple computer.

Thanks a lot for any suggestion

    netghiro wrote:

My initial confusion is related to how to automatically assemble the network shares on my system (the a CrashPlan possibly running) to make them available to the local backup software (which will take care to copy the files to the NAS)... Sorry for the bad wording or maybe you misunderstand something.

http://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/latest/backup/Mounting_Networked_Storage_Or_NAS_Devices_For_Back... answers for OSX and links to a similar article for Windows. I suspect that for Linux, you simply create a NFS mount point suitable, but I have not tried. In any event, you don't really need to go with headless on the NAS installation, if it presents the advantage to avoid the need for a separate device.

    netghiro wrote:

I think that when I'm on Linux and using NFS shares that will be easily magically mount every time you start (I still wonder if the username/password on the NAS must the same on my computer and to be honest, I was wondering the same for the two AFP/SMB!)

With Windows, the name of user and password may be different. Configure you in the Windows Credential Manager. I'm not a Mac guy, but I think that Keychain Apple does the same for network with OS x resources. I think that with Linux, you need to explicitly use the opening of session and password in the mount command (I don't think it's the equivalent of the Windows or Apple Keychain credentials manager).

I have already subscribed to a (computer) personal unlimited plan, I can envision the family upgraded but happy enough to save a little money as well. I'll try to keep a couple of good games of local backup in the first place.

Which is what I did. I have an unlimited plan for single computer for the NAS. I use Acronis image to back up the disks of PC 'C' on the NAS and also to use the SIN as a consolidated storage. I have 3 copies local of all (the primary account as a NAS) use and maintain CrashPlan as expensive disaster.

My pro - 6 has 2 GB of ram, which worked well for a few years, but eventually unlimited retention of deleted files caused central CrashPlan CrashPlan to run out of memory. This is what prompted the request for assistance to Crashplan. The solution was to the retention value of the files deleted in 6 months and then consolidate archive. That took a while (Crashplan was not wise to this point). I've also increased the memory in the pro and CrashPlan defined to use the size of the memory possible max (which, on the pro, is about 3.5 GB with a 32-bit JVM).

It has been working fine since that date (end of June). In any case, it's a good idea to lower the setting for the retention of deleted files. I also put deduplication to "minimal".

  • Configuration of scan file on HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw

    Hello

I'm trying to set up my printer to scan to a network folder.

    HP LaserJet 200 colorMFP M276nw

    OSX 10.9.4

WLAN (printer and office on the same network)

Here's the problem; No matter what I try, I can't have the printer to scan directly to a network folder.

When you test the connection I get either the ' invalid password or username "or the error"unable to connect to the network folder.

It seems that the biggest problem is the printer in the right network folder referring.

I shared the folder, but I can't get a valid path name, that apparently.

    Show folder properties: / Users/vdlely/Dropbox/max verhuur/Scans

Obviously, this is not complete; I need to add the location of the machine, such as: //iMac-van-AJ/Users/vdlely/Dropbox/max verhuur/Scans right?

No matter what combination I try, nothing works. I used the name of the computer, IP, with and without login etc etc.

What is the correct path in my case?

It would be MUCH easier if you have added a simple browser to navigate to the correct location.

Please help me to set up right.

    Hi @Aernoud,

I see by your post that you are having problems for parsing of the configuration of the network folder. I can help you with this.

I have provided a document to configure network scanning.

How to perform a scan: from the control panel (including the Scan to Email, in PDF format, and to a network folder).

    Please try the following steps:

    1. create a new folder on your computer.

    2. right-click (CTRL left click if you use the keyboard of the Mac) and select read.

    3. unlock the screen, set all term read/write &, located under the share permissions &.

    4. enter in System Preferences > sharing, then select, sharing files in the left bar.

    5. click on the Options button, mark the share files and folders using SMB (Windows) and click done.

    6. under shared folders, click the sign more and select the configured folder.

    7. ensure that "everyone" permissions are set to read & write under the list of users as well.

    8. you will see the IP at the top of this screen, make a note to configure the EWS page.

I think that in consequence of this model of path, you should be able to implement.

Name of the computer or IP address/Shared-folder-name of the computer

    or

-The computer name or IP name of the computer-folder-address\Shared

Find out what the name of the computer as follows:
Go to the Apple/Mac/More report information software/system about / click on the left side on the right side, it should show the name of the computer.

NOTE: The folder must already exist. You cannot create the folder in the built-in Web server.

To find the path of the folder where the scanned images are saved, hold CTRL and click on new folder
created / click on get info/verify shared folder/then copy it to the folder path.

User name - the name that you use to connect to the computer.

Password: the password allows you to connect to the computer.

Please let me know if it worked.

    Thank you.

Can the M276nw of 200 HP LaserJet can be configured to scan to a network without initial setup of a PC folder? Without having first to connect the unit to a computer first.

We run a virtual environment and the printer will need to scan to a folder configured network and this should be done through the device. Of course, file permisisons will be completed before. I think I saw a manual where the Embeded webserver had this configuration, but would have to make sure, before committing to the purchase. Thanks in advance.

    We gladly invite you.

Yes, the printer supports the SMB Protocol indeed.

  • SMB file sharing problem when connecting EA6350 to a larger network.

    Hi all

I tried to set up a server of media for my colleagues, but have had problems for the last 3 days.  I searched all possible solutions on various forums and have managed to operate, only to discover the next day that he stopped.  I was able to get it working again, but the same problem occurred and stop randomly with additional problems.

I will now do my best to explain the installation program. Windows 10.

I have a line entering my room, I don't know where will the line nor can I trace it (I guess to a switch where everyone connects to).  When I connect it dirrectly on my laptop I have an internet connection.

My ethernet card is set to automatically get IP & DNS.

    I'm affected: IP: 192.168.68.231 DOOR: 192.168.68.254 subnet: 255.255.255.128 DNS: 8.8.8.8

I bought a Linksys EA6350 set up sharing of media files with a hard drive plugged into the USB port on the router.

I plug in the bathroom line to the WAN port on the router and a cable from my laptop to the Router 1 LAN port and still have web connectivity.  The problem is that no one can access my shared SMB drive since it is on IP:192.168.1.1 and all the other computers are on IP:192.168.68. ***

My router IPv4 connection report is: Auto DHCP, subnet: 255.255.255.128 DOOR: 192.168.68.254, IP:192.168.68.242, DNS:8.8.8.8

I can't to ping other computers in the range * 192.168.68 my laptop and routers ping function.  The firewall of the router is turned off to allow them to connect. But, still no access for someone else on the shared drive because it is IP:192.168.1.1

The way I could make it work until it stopped working randomly the day after was by pluging the line room in LAN 2 port, LAN 1 port is connected to the laptop.  The value of my computer laptop ethernet static with these values: IP: 192.168.68.231 DOOR: 192.168.68.254 subnet: 255.255.255.128 DNS: 8.8.8.8 and changed the configuration in the router for what is in the pictures.

It worked.  I had an internet connection, and people were able to copy movies on the shared drive.  Then it just stops the next day.  The router was no longer able to ping any, but my laptop couldn't yet.  The list of devices on my router tab showed all was connected on the subnet 192.168.68 * but that's all she could do.  I have everything reset, went through the same procedures and then a day later it worked just (if I remember correctly, I've changed the "type of internet connection" on the automatic router to "DHCP").  Only to stop again but this time cut of my Internet connection of laptops until I put the ethernet adapter to obtain automatically IP address and DNS.

I ran out of ideas runs take the router out of the equation and the pluging directly on my laptop HD and share it from there.

Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You give the router specified a wrong IP address for the subnet mask of 255.255.255.128.

Valid IP addresses for this subnet is 192.168.68.2 - 192.168.68.127.

  • E4200: Possible to share USB SMB to WAN?

I realize that the E4200 User Guide says for remote access you should / must use FTP, but I would that my actions of Windows (SMB/CIFS) are available for the outside world. I tried a few combinations different configuration of redirection of port and other things on my DSL router and the E4200 himself, without success so far with (obviously, that's why this post!).

The only thing that has been a success so far uses another device on the local network to mount and then re - share, with port forwarding pointing to this device instead of the E4200. I'm glad that it works, but I would like to remove this device from the equation if possible.

Does anyone know a way to expose the Windows from an E4200 shares towards the outside world? Thank you!

I checked ports and such with my SMB mount/re-share original installation using another device on the network. I am convinced that it is simply very difficult if not impossible to convince this router to accept SMB of WAN connections.

My solution was to install TomatoUSB and rsync, as at the end of the day, my goal was to be able to mirror on the USB drive attached on the side WAN. I didn't try to do it via FTP; It turns out that rsync is probably better that mount a remote SMB sharing and synchronization to that. I hope this helps someone else later!
