  I understand what you're asking, and the answer is no. It's just not possible that the way things are right now. There are several ways to get your desktop on your TV, but unfortunately wifi isn't one of them.  Your best bet would be to just connect your laptop to your TV with vga or hdmi, and then use a wireless keyboard and mouse.

• Can't see another computer for file sharing

  I have 2 computers in my house, a PC running Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 and the other a XP Home Edition SP3 race, both connected to the Internet through a router TL-MR3420 and the adapter TP-LINK TL-WN822N. I have enabled the sharing of files on both computers and have no problem to display all of the files shared between each computer, so far.

  I opened my XP, run these commands via cmd:
  netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

  netsh winsock reset
  Restart the computer and then change my connection of cable wireless lan then back to wireless again.

  I have access to my Mac remotely and always assumed that if I did not check the box pw to remember when asking username/pw I would always need to enter pw to access a remote volume.  This, of course, is the case usually except that I noticed that I have three computers (home, office, mobile) with the same user name and I can connect to the remote volume by simply entering the IP address of the target computer. I receive no request for pw.  This occurs despite the Macs with different user pw. I went to keychain in public services and did ' t see the pw of file sharing, so I guess they are in iCloud keychain.  All 3 Macs have the same username and the same iCloud account, and I have iCloud Keychain selected on all 3 Macs.  Potential problems would be if someone stole my cell phone when I signed to or if someone at work was playing with my computer after hours - they can then access my home computer (or vice versa). If it is stored in iCloud Keychain, so I don't see an obvious way to change.  So I disabled the option of trousseau in iCloud in system preferences on my laptop, not saved in keychain to my Mac and restarted; When I tried to access my home Mac, it helped to connect without my pw but I have noticed that at the top of the window, text says 'connected as [email protected]'- real username omitted here.  Is anyway to avoid this short of having each Mac journal on an account different iCloud (then would lose Sync calendars etc.).   Hello, I have a technical question about file sharing.

Basically, I want to save this file on the server of the company.

  Go to where you have configured the static IP addresses for your network adapters.  Leave the "default gateway" blank for your local file sharing adapter and insert a valid default gateway for your wifi Internet adapter.  Of course, this will limit your adapter in a single subnet - which should be OK for use at home or small office to share local files.

  This should work as long as the two physical subnets have two different subnet numbers. In general, this means that the first three digits of the IP address of the adapter can not be the same on both adapters - if they are, then you need to make one of the subnets. (i.e. one is 192.168.1.xxx and the other would be 192.168.2.xxx).  This is usually accomplished in the router configuration page.

  If you have Norton Security, then try to change its settings in Norton to turn off file sharing and check if it helps.

  I suggest you to check if you are able to download other websites other than utorrent.

  As you said that you are able to download from utorrent, it means that there is no problem with the operating system, but you can delete all the temporary files in temp, prefetch, %Temp% and folders on your computer and then try to download and check if it works.

  Check your DNS configuration.   'macmini' is not a field specification that I expect to receive the OS x DNS server.  I expect to get something closer to macmini.example.com than, with "example.com" substituted here for whatever the field, have registered and use on your network.   If DNS is misconfigured, the rest of the battery tends to be unstable.

• File sharing settings

  I recently updated two of my Macs to El Capitan, and simply check the box under system preferences/sharing file sharing, I can share files between two Macs - wonderful back.

  However, I have an old Mac 10.5.8 Leopard who won't get upgrades and I can't seem to access its files from the new Macs. When I turn the sharing files in Leopard unit, that I can see it in the Finder under shared on the new Macs, however I can't connect from a unit - nothing happens when I click on "connect as" in the Finder. Now in the old unit I can access files on the part of the new units, but not the reverse.

  The good thing about El Capitan is that there is nothing to put under the menu sharing in system preferences. However the older Leopard unit, I 'Options' where I can select AFP, FTP and SMB sharing. I tried turning them on and in various combinations, but I can not just connected to the El Capitan units leopard machine.

  Any suggestions?

  Here's a hint, I restarted the old Mac and from the Finder when I double click on the old Mac from the side bar under shared I get this in a pop-up window:

  Cannot open "Of Tom Kiefer MacBook" because the original item cannot be found.

  It seems that if you try to connect to your iMac for file sharing on your local network and trying to connect using the user account name and password for this iMac, but it does not allow you to connect. Is this fair?

  One thing to check here would be to see if the iMac is configured for file sharing, because it is not enabled by default. Follow the steps in this article - OS X El Capitan: share your files with other users of Mac

  Note that you can set up file sharing for all users of the iMac or select specific users. Do not forget that you have configured the correct or users to share.
