Configuration of the Firefox search bar

Firefox 14.0.1 on Windows XP.

The Firefox search bar is one of the most useful features; and I use it dozens, or even hundreds of times every day. Especially on Google and a few times on Amazon.

Now recently all Google results are redirected Google.si; with mostly Japanese results. Even if I go to google, com wesite, it redirects me to Google.si

Now, I know that I can use http://www.google.com/ncr to prevent redirection.

The question is: How can I change the Firefox search bar to not redirect me?

Thanks for any help with this!

Google should not redirect more once you have visited the Google.com site, either by clicking on the link Google.com (setprefdomain? prefdom = US) at the bottom of the Japanese page or through the /ncr switch.

Make sure that you keep cookies and perhaps local storage as well.

  • Can I get the Firefox search bar for not automatically, go to the site of the search engine I spend?

The Firefox search bar seems to have changed since the last update. I understand that things are changing constantly and get used to them, but I wonder if it is possible to change the rear bar to the way it was, or at least understand why it changed.

Basically, I used to be able to switch from search engines by choosing from the drop-down list, and would not put me right at the site of this search engine. He didn't actually bring me to the site once I hit the search button (or enter). It's quite annoying to have to remember to open a new tab before changing search engines in order to avoid sailing away from the tab that you are currently on, and it's also annoying that when you open a new tab and change the search engines, you are immediately taken to the site of this search engine. It feels like an extra step (ranging from 'the empty tab search engine page to search result' instead of 'empty tab to search result').

I know it sounds like a minor complaint, no doubt, but I'm really really curious to know why it was changed. More important, I want to know if there is a way to customize the way it was.

    Thanks for any help!

Many users have been raising this issue. I mentioned the same question in this post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1086138

In summary, it seems that the Firefox team is not intend to bring back the ability to return to the old bar search, which was possible (but in a very biased way) in older versions of 42. For now, you can either:

    • Download module additional classic restaurateur theme to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/?src=ss and then select the old search option
    • Go back to Firefox 42 and set the browser.search.showOneOffButtons property in Subject: config. However, with older versions poses a risk to the security that you won't have bug fixes provided with version 43
  • Why the firefox search bar does not work?

If I type a website or search for words in the Firefox search bar and hit 'return' nothing happens. If it's a site I went to before, if fills but when I hit 'back' nothing happens.

    I use Firefox on a Macbook OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 36.0.1

  • How to add the Firefox search bar

I would like to add the search bar Firefox 35.0.1 for me to change search engines. How can I do this? Thank you

The search bar is usually by default, even if you will be able to search by other means. Drag it from the palette to customize if you need to change search engines.

  • The firefox search bar does not work and when trying to manage search firefox engine crashes and I have to force to leave.

My search bar does not work. I can enter text and the work of AutoFill, but when I hit enter or click the magnifying glass, nothing happens. (The address bar works). I can't change the search engine of google for other engines by default, but they are looking for either. When I open "Manage search engines" menu opens and I can make changes, but then he won't and I leave firefox to get the strength to normal navigation. It drives me crazy, please help! I tried to restart the search engine, my computer, changed such parameters suggested by other pages, but nothing helped. (Safari search bar works, but I don't use Safari, so I would really like to understand how to solve this problem).

    This has happened

    Each time Firefox opened

    Is two weeks.

I had this same problem. Couldn't Google to search in weeks bar. Drove me crazy.

Does what you has proposed and made a new profile, but simply copied to a file or folder at a time in the new profile in the Finder and started the profile to test to see if it worked or not for Google.

It came down to formhistory.sqlite. The second I put that in Trial, the Google bar stopped working. Found out it just saves your form history and past Google searches, so I'm ok with starting over on that. I'll just have to enter my address one more time on the next form I fill out.

I tried just compensation history form and search in Firefox, but that does not solve, so I went ahead and made another new profile and replaced the formhistory.sqlite from this profile file my trial period. It worked, then I did the same thing with 'default '.

    Problem. Solved.

  • How to make default in the address bar of research follows the selection of the top search bar right

    Hello

at the time, my default firefox location bar search engine is dynamic, it always follows the preferred search engine on the right upper search bar

but I clicked some ads in accident, and just go wrong

my default address bar search engine always uses google, back then, it searches in wikipedia when I use the wikipedia on the top right search engine bar even when I'm just typing "firefox" to search in the address bar, it will be automatically redirected to wikipedia search for "firefox".

TL; Dr., how can I make a default address bar search engine follows the search engine in the search bar?

    Thanks for your attention

You can now move on to the beta version of Firefox which is Firefox23 already.

Don't know exactly what your old configuration were able, but whatever happens and in the near future it must always be easy to change the right hand search bar to use the various search engines.

At some point in the future there are possibilities the search address bar may be combined and there is also the possibility of a new system of Search-tab under development.

  • Problem with the google in Firefox search bar

Last week the google search bar began to do all the searching through the site google.nl Dutch. He has never done this before. I'm in England, and the search bar has always used google.co.uk by default. I don't know why this has changed. I have not modified any settings and I use the version the most up-to-date Firefox on my Windows laptop, 8. Change the settings of google through the google Web site does not help.

Well, Google thinks he knows better than us...

Perhaps it would work better to install a plugin for Google UK-specific search. This page has two options:

    http://mycroftproject.com/Google-search-plugins.html

    Look for these:

    • Google UK (SSL)
    • Google UK - United Kingdom (SSL)

After installation, you should probably use the search bar drop-down list to select the new search plugin in the bottom of the list.

You could also check your connection here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced > tab mini network > button "settings".

The default "use system proxy" should piggyback on your LAN-Windows/IE settings, but you can also try the 'no proxy' to see if that changes anything.

  • In the google search bar, how can I prevent search suggestions to disappear as soon as I move the mouse? Mac, Maverics, Firefox latest

It is in the separate search bar, not the URL bar that can also be used as a search bar. It seems to happen only with selected Google. If I choose one of the other search engines to the search bar, then the problem goes away. I use the latest version of Firefox on Mac/Mavericks.

    Hi Jay777

    Try it next please.

You have disabled the Suggestions show inside the Google search bar.

    To activate the Suggestions show:
Click once inside the search bar, then click inside the bar.
At the bottom of the context menu, choose Show Suggestions

Shut down and restart firefox and then turn it back on and restart again.

See if it works for you!

You can enable (or disable) built-in Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox using one of the following methods to view the list of the toolbar:

    • Right click on a place empty on the tab bar (or the button '+')
    • Press the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > view > toolbars
    • in customize mode > show/hide toolbars

Does it work? And your bookmarks are still there?

  • The new search bar

I generally use the search bar to get the work done. Today with the update, I noticed that Firefox has implemented a MAJOR change to the workflow here. The only problem is that it is exactly the opposite of the intuitive for me. Will there be a fix for this, or should I switch to chrome?

To return to the change of research design bar, you can:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search box that appears above the list, type or paste the Search and make a break while the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.search.showOneOffButtons to true to false

This does not affect the current window, but each new window that you open (Ctrl + n) will be the old search bar.

  • The Google search bar is more related to Google, then when I try to search something nothing happens.

The Google search bar in the top right contains more the search engine Google. I tried to add it by going to Google.com , but when I tried to add it, it does not recognize something to add. I also tried to go through the list of search engines provided by Firefox, but there is so much of different created by so many different people, I had no idea that who to choose.

Click the arrow on the search bar and use the option "manage search engines" then use restore defaults, which include Google again in the drop-down list, and if you click on google it will become the default search engine.
