consolidate the albums by artist

Hello

I have several albums by the same artist.

When I select the view by the artist in a case he has not added a new album where all other sums.

Rather it appears it in a separate heading.

From the same artist name simply show above all others.

Hope I've done this is understandable.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Quick response: select all the tracks on the album, file > info (or right-click > news > details) and give them all a single "album artist", or check the indicator of "compilation" (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085#17670085).

If they are several CD sets, you will also need to enter the appropriate information in the fields of number of disk.  If they are not a set of multiple CDs that you must always make sure any vacuum or disc number fields are properly defined.

If they are mp3 files are trying to change the version of the ID3 tag, which can cause iTunes to re - write the tags and clarify inconsistencies.  I use iTunes 7.5 (Yes, from 2007) so I can't tell you where it is in later versions.

I had a case of grouping stubborn reality.  The tracks will be re-group in a way that has no meaning when I changed metadata.  Without going into details, I deleted tracks iTunes completely, then add the files and they are all grouped together correctly.

I found the answer and it is not good. Some albums are simply not available. And I doubt that I renew my subscription.

  • Songs from the same album are organized in different versions of the album

Several songs on the album are purchased on iTunes so when weve deviated our own music library on tends them to be several versions of each album it appears each with different songs on the album. The problem still persists when viewing music on any of our apple devices, even when you look at the 'albums' category there are several versions of many albums that have only 1 or 2 songs each. We tried to manually change how the songs should be sorted and nothing seems to work?

If iTunes displays multiple instances of an artist or an album then generally what works is to select all the associated tracks and use read information to add say end X for each of the areas that the slopes have in common:

    • For an album. Album, artist of the Album and artist (if the artist is the same for all tracks) *.
    • For an artist; Album artist (artist and unless there is the comments/featured artists listed that should not be changed)

Apply the change which merges things together, then remove the excess characters. Occasionally, it can help to close and reopen iTunes between two renaming operations. Part of a compilation should also be set in a consistent manner.

    * If the titles must be synchronized to a non - iOS device, there should be a common artist and/or album must be defined as a Compilation.

Use the view of songs and display fields, Album, genre, Album, Album artist, genre artist Album, artist and genre artist side by side to see you whether or not it is necessary to change the artist and if sorting values could be the cause of additional problems. See grouping in albums, titles for help if necessary.

Another tip duplicates stubborn reality. At one point, I had three batches of various artists in the view of artists in my iTunes game library that wouldn't meet usual backward X treatment. What I found worked was adding the final X, but with each group, iTunes wanted to separate start typing a value and let iTunes autocomplete of the Var... for various artists. Collection of AutoComplete lists seemed to work when the full value of collage/montage does not.

  • 12.4.2.4 iTunes messes up Album and artists views

Since I installed version12.4.2.4, iTunes seems to mess up the metadata of my music files and/or albums not correctly appear in the views of artist and Album. In the last 24 hours I have torn/imported 2 albums.

The first album I tore guard split into 2 artists, both with exactly the same name than the other artist. Other tracks on the album are about an artist, and the rest of the tracks are on the other artist. To the track, I see that the tracks belong to an album, but for the Album I see 2 albums and to the artist, I see 2 artists.

The second album I ripped gets combined with another album - already - in the Album an artists views. Still, in the view of the track I can see the newly imported album clearly as a separate album, but two Album reviews and artist, I see it combined with another album as an album.

I checked so to double all the metadata for these tracks and that everything seems OK. How can I stop this wrong behavior?

You need to 'force' iTunes to re - write metadata.

Follow these instructions. Method #2 is probably the one you need.

  • How to add data to a track to match the album data

Hi people. I have a separate track that I want to add to an album by the same artists, but listening on "Get Info" shows a track doesn't have the name of the album or artists, only the name of the track. I had to convert the real album of FLAC to MP3, then the separate track was already a MP3 format. I have now from the real album with all relevant data, so that the separate all in the same album, but the separate track track did not have the relevant data and I don't know how to add this data as any I can open it with is using "Get Info" but which cannot be modified and regardless of how many times I added the album ALL tracks including this one "separated", to iTunes to burn, iTunes will 'separate' track in the same album so I can burn. I was able to change a titles info by iTunes so that his now identical to the rest of the album but iTunes don't put in the same album! the only thing I can think is lacking data on this one track before you add it to iTunes, but cannot find a way to do it. Or did I miss something about iTunes?

I need this sorting asap too please if anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful thank you

    Puretoon,

The use of Get Info is the right way to edit track information.  If it is not allowing you to make changes, make sure that the audio file is not set to "ReadOnly."

In addition, you can burn an audio CD, even if the tags are not quite right.  He just put the titles in an iTunes playlist in the order you want, and then choose file > burn Playlist to disc.

  • Media Player 11 install new music Import does not recognize the album - only songs?

I recently had my laptop reimagee (XP Pro). I copied the MyMusic folder under my documents. Then installed WMP 11 and he started upward. It has imported all the songs, but nothing appears in the views of the artist or Album except a unknown album with all the songs.

I got so far without resolving the question of the measures:

    • Removed the program using Add/Remove, then reinstalled WMP 11
    • Delete the database files in %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player and restarted WMP11. Same happes: songs are added, but not the album or artist information

What now? iTunes has been installed properly recognized all albums/artists (just saying...), but prefer OMP

    Thank you

smawsky, have you tried to reset the library with the instructions I mentioned in one of my previous answers? Attention to my note on the WMP network sharing Service.

If you copy a few of these tracks from the disc in the folder external HARD music in My Documents, WMP reads the tags of the files copied? And what about the sample music files which are added to the default library?

I have three songs from the album, all by the same artist, but for a reason, that they aren't bringing together under the same album or artist on iTunes. All the songs are listed separately under different artists even if the name of the artist (and album) is exactly the same:

  • Sort order for the Album to the artist / year

How does Itunes sorting Option "Album of the artist / year"work? "

I expect year wise Albums are sorted. But some of the Albums are not sorted in the year.

If two or more albums were released in the same year by the same artist, they are sorted in alphabetical order. Note also that iTunes can produce unexpected results if you select a descending sort order.

  • iTunes 12.4 missing "Sort by artist."  Only sorts by the artist of the album.

I spent hours to be arranged by library to be able to change the field name, rather than name, artist name.  (If I want to find Buddy Holly, I look under B, not H).  Then, I could choose to sort by artist.  (And BTW, stop the Match completely, because just renames all of what he wants.)

Today, I downloaded itunes 12.4 and it immediately destroys all my work.  I'm happy to be proven wrong here, but we have lost the ability to choose how to sort.  ITunes is the culprit to sorting by artist Album when you access a list of artist.  Is no longer, we can deal with the field of the artist.  Why must iTunes make it so difficult?

Can someone tell me if I'm missing something?  Thank you.

Since the introduction of the Album artist field (iTunes 7) sort by artist has been controlled by the first non-empty value of: Type Album artist , Album artist, Genre artist, artist.

In general I expect to see Buddy Holly in the artist and fields artist album and the sort fields empty. It usually takes an extra effort to fill in the fields to sort with a scheme such as < name >, < name > as typical iTunes and Gracenotes deliver information such as < name > < name >.

In iTunes on the computer select one of the songs together and do a right-click and select information and go to the tab Details Note how they are arranged by the tracks. Do the same for the orphan songs and only a part of the same thing. As just another one of the songs on the album even

  • iTunes sorts only the new songs from the album artist; Cannot select multiple artists

I had this problem for awhile now.  Whenever I have add a new song to my library, it will sort as a new artist, even if I already have this artist.  For example, I'll add a new Bayside song to my library, and despite the fact that I already have two albums of Bayside, the new song will sort itself separately from him, leaving me with two Baysides.  The only way to fix it is to add the album artist in both the novel and the stuff I already had.  It's incredibly frustrating, especially since iTunes allow me to select several artists both in the artist's view (although I can select several songs and albums - this seems to be a problem only when the view is the sidebar, as in the views of artist, Genre and composer).

Help with fixing a problem (preferably both, although) it would be appreciated.

I am currently using iTunes 12.3.2.

It's a response of turingtest2 to a very similar to your question.  Maybe this will help.

12 iTunes keeps having the same artist twice in the artist column

Using the view songs grab all the tracks by an artist of the album given that you are having problems with and then read the information. Tab sort add set Album artist & artist album, X, click OK, and then return to . If you synchronize your content on a non - iOS such as classical iPod device, then you must also make sure artist is constant in the whole album. I propose generally invited and artists featured in the names of individual songs.

  • Windows Media Player 11. Way to change the batteries in the album art library the order in artist view?

    Hello

    (A purely aesthetic problem here)

In windows media player when look at a library in the artist discovers mode, my albums are indicated as "batteries" under each name of respective artists. What determines the order of these batteries? Is it possible to choose the order yourself?

I want to be able to choose because I don't like the look of some of my album covers, and I'd rather have my favorites upstairs.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Adamclarke,

You can sort albums by choosing the options to sort the album art, title, length, rating and other areas.

Above the albums listed, right-click on the album and choose sort by album. In the same way, you can sort the other areas.
