Consumption of memory HDD Vista 64 Ultimate

My system is Vista 64 Ultimate with partitioned drive, and I now use a small program called WinDirstat to study why the capacity of my hard disk is so low, and it shows me that on my C (139 GB) Windows using 60 GB this.

How can I reduce this please, 28.9 being shon Temp?

Best regards

Also, when Vista was installed for several years it is not unusual for the 40-60 GB to use.

I have the motherboard Intel & CPU (Intel Core 2 Quad CPU) running Vista Ultimate 64, I installed from the CD.  Previously used some XP software (Lotus 123 and Word Pro and Word Perfect & Quatro Pro) not to operate smoothly in the installer with Vista, or Vista is best MS OS I have used to date.  I studied MS Virtual PC 2007, installed on the desktop and it works well.  I installed XP Home and the incriminated on virtual PC and all software works better than ever and I don't have to convert one hundred archived files I need little frequent access to because they have been created there with these programs from 10 to 15 years because the PC is "networked" to the Vista machine to transfer files but is not exposed to security issues by avoiding the internet connection.

There's a rub.  XP Home comes from a CD that I provided by Dell with a PC, I have purchased from them in 2000 ~  It was shipped on a CD of the operating system with the computer and twice, 2003 & 2006, I had to erase completely the C drive and pure install the operating system.  Both times I've been required to product key entry and when installing a semi automated of registration took place via internet.  When I used this same CD to install XP on Virtual PC, never asked me the product key.  At the end of installation, I was directed to activate the product, either via the Internet, phone or delay, but after 30 days, software (XP) would not work.  Because I choose not to have V PC connected to the web, I chose the method of telephone connection and followed.  At the end of the process a direct tech said that it was not a valid copy of XP.

I have not used XP provided by Dell, as I booted Vista box, then how the hell is the software I've bought from them no not a valid copy.  What viable alternatives can I, if, before the purchase of another Internet licensed XP software?

  • Leak memory in Vista hold em?

As unlikely as it seems, since I can't find anyone else who has the same problem, it seems that there is a memory leak when I run Vista Hold em.

The only time I have problems is when I play the game. Using the Task Manager, when I play the game I can watch the memory use slowly increases during the period wherever I play. The number of process remains constant. Towards the end of the game the amount of memory used is almost double the amount used when the game started. If I continue to play, the game eventually freezes. If I shut it down by the 'End process' button, it affects the whole system and I end up having cold start System. As I say, I'm not having other problems with my system except when playing Holdem.

I know this seems unlikely given that nobody else seems to be challenging, but it happens every time I play the game. Thanks for any ideas on how I might solve this problem. I like the game!

EDIT: I forgot to include I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). 4 GB of RAM installed. Quad-core.

    Hello

I don't know the exact reason for this problem, but I'll tell you what I found and will give a 'solution '. The problem is somehow related to Creative Sound Blaster. From what I've read on other forums on this problem, update the driver will NOT fix the problem. The problem is that the audiodg.exe will continue to consume more memory you are playing Hold em Vista. When you stop the game, this memory is not released. I don't know why it would be, however, the solution is to disable the Sound Blaster improvements. (I have read if you disable only reverb that suits it.)

Here is the step by step solution. (Do this before you start playing Texas Hold em).

    1. go in Control Panel.

    2. double-click on the sounds applet.

    3 click speakers to select.

    4. click on the properties button.

    5 Select the Sound Blaster.

    6. click on the checkbox labeled "Disable Sound Blaster improvements.

    7. click on Ok.

This should fix it. You can activate this return (uncheck the box above), when you are finished playing.

  • Vista 64 Ultimate on Satellite X 200-23 G?

Anyone who has tried to put Vista 64 bit on one of these X 200? I really can't stand the 32-bit version and would really like to upgrade, but impossible to find on the web that he tried.

Any info would be gratefuly received, thank you.

    Hello

one of my friends has a X 200 with Vista ultimate 64 installed. Its operating system works perfect and the pilots were available, so you don t have to look for some alternative drivers on the web.

Just visit the [drivers download Site | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp], download the drivers for Vista 64 and install it. You will see: it works without problem.

But the solution only works with windows xp, anyone know a driver version with which the 'frame buffer' tab is present?
The latest version of the driver is installed on my Satellite L30-105(catalyst 7.6), 128 MB are shared, but 32 will be enough for me.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I think the problem is that Vista graphic driver does not support this option.
The option described in the in the other thread was available in the argument XPOS.

But why would you change? On my L30 128 MB shared memory are activated, but the laptop uses only 64 MB if I put t run all applications performance.
The pilot controls the amount of shared memory automatically.

You can se under control panel-> display-> advanced settings
In the map tab, you can see total graphic memory available (in my case 128 MB) and system memory shared (64 MB)

By the way; I don't think that 32 MB graphics memory may be sufficient if you're running Vista

Try a different display of the L30 series driver. I PSL33 L30-134 and the use of XP, but I use the L30 PSL30 display driver, because this driver has the ability to change the size of the video memory (this option is missing PSL33 driver). I use not yet Vista, but maybe you should try another driver display L30 (for example the PSL30 L30-134).

  • Boots Vista 64 Ultimate SP2 (with domain) to the mouse cursor black screen white after that several failure system restores

Who can help me to WHO:

Sorry for fast hiking, misspellings, it's late and I do not use my normal computer to this problem I have.

I am currently sympthym to start the black screen with a white cursor (furniture, put in construction in the middle) with my laptop Dell Studio 15 (model 1537) that running Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2.  He started tonight after repeatively, I tried to restore to a date prior to the System Restore tool.  I wanted to get back to Monday due to some software installations.  However, each attempt to restore failed and then after the 3rd or 4th attempt, when I tried to restart, I was faced with a window very long stop, and I was impacient and pressed and held the power button to stop it.  Subsequent starts, I've known this problem with no solution having been found for the moment.

I tried several things at first, such that I tried Ctrl-alt-del, control-shift-esc, blindly connect with my fingerprint.  I tried windows key combos, but no luck.  Still stuck with screen black mouse cursor

I have my vista ultimate 64 bit installation disc, and I started with the dvd and tried to fix it.  Automatic repair tool says he finds a problem with my start and had a difficulty to which I applied and rebooted.  But it did not work.

Then, I tried to boot from the dvd again and did the repair option again, this time, Autostart reparir tool see nothing wrong with my start and I tried a system restore, but alas, it failed after having worked for a bit.  Telling something about restoration being corrupted.  I tried command prompt (X:\Source) and make chkdsk c: /p (which btw, implies / f as well) and it found some errors and repaired them or what not was wrong to write to newspapers, even if and then after long waiting, returns to the c: prompt.  No effect.

On subsquent dvd boots, I tried the option to command line renaming a "Logs" directory and create a directory "Logs" empty (which was mentioned in some research online and even in a few posts here), but that has not solved the problem for me either.

Dvd later boots, I have tried regedit solution method, where you will load a SYSTEM key and set some sort of AUTHORITY NT set... but when I checked key, she was already the correct setting.

Then I learned that I could press the "Shift" key repeatedly while mode cursor screen black/white/and try the propmpt for keys pop-up to sticky.  But he said no 'link' as many instructions in this message box.  When I click 'Yes' to sticky keys, nothing is displayed and the pop-up closes.  Ditto for the 'no '.  There is no mention of accessibility settings.

I tried all modes of security, but just a white cursor plu experience.  I have tried to use "last known configuration', 'debug mode', 'start logging mode', mode"disable driver signing"and again, the same thing, the cursor of the black and white screen.  I'm really at my wit's end, and I don't want REALLY to re - install everything (operating system, programs, settings, etc.) ... I did not back upward, and I use this machine without problem for more than a year.

I remember once XP has a "repair install" mode which was really obvious to end users, since it looked almost identical to a clean install.  I have also heard (but can't really confirm) Vista has no such a fashion, that, by clicking on install, he repaired to the simular OS to XP disks how would repair their facilities.  I can't risk my data/programs/settings for accidental clean installation.  Help, please!

    Sincerely,
    Robert Eckman

According to me, put it back in place, is the only solution to your problem!
