Control in VBA with Adobe Reader PDF reader

Can I use control "Adobe PDF Reader" on a VBA UserForm on a machine with only Adobe Reader (v9) installed?

I would like to create a shape similar to the one described on page 25 in http://wwwimages.Adobe.com/www.Adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/DevNet/reader/PDFs/reader_ov rview.pdf

Whenever I drag the control of "Adobe PDF Reader" in my form, I instantly get an "Unknown error" message from VBA.

When I try to run

Void pdf()
Dim an as new AcroPDFLib.AcroPDF
a.SRC = "test.pdf".
End Sub

I get an "error Automation, unspecified error" on the line a.src = "test.pdf".

Any guidance is appreciated.

Use: something like:

Set oReader = createObject ("AcroPDF.PDF.1")
MsgBox (oReader.getVersions)

contact/work with the drive object.

  • Open the PDF with Adobe Reader - wonder what must do Firefox - every time

    Hello

Whenever I want to open a PDF file, Firefox asks me "that should Firefox do with this file.
I opened with Adobe Reader (default) selected and I have the box 'do this automatically... ". "checked.

So, it seems to me that Firefox should not ask me every time.

Hi - I do not always want to ask; I want that he will never ask.

That said, I changed my setting of the option "always ask" and the next time I tried to open a PDF document, the open dialog box to ask me what to do. The box 'do this automatically... ". ' has been disabled, as expected.

I checked the box 'do this automatically... ". "and now Firefox is most requested.

Weird way to solve the problem, but it seems to work fine now.
    Thank you

  • Print PDFs with Adobe Reader error

Sometimes when I try to print a PDF with Adobe Reader, it will print the first two pages OK, then the rest will be ruined. This may be the cause for this?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Probably a printer driver problem.  Try to update the printer driver to the latest version from the manufacturers Web site and check the printer cable is properly connected and is directly to the printer.

Reinstall the latest version of Acrobat (you must download it, install it, then check the updates, thanks to Adobe being so weird not giving the latest patches for download), and then try again. If you still experience the problem, you can try to PDF trouble Toolbox https://www.fixtoolbox.com/pdffix.html

I had windows 7 and it has been updated to windows 10. After the update, I opened a PDF with adobe reader. The sign economy is idle. When I click on save slot, it is said that he can save a blank document. Earlier, I have not a problem to save a pdf document with adobe reader on my hard drive. I found no updates available for my adobe reader software. Is adobe still to make the drive compatible with windows 10?

Bernd, these rights are not necessary to the reader XI. Unless the file has been secured, then it should be savable.

I recommend that upgrade you to the latest version of the XI player that is available and if this does not work, try to run a repair installation (or upgrade to DC).

  • Loss of ability to annotate PDFs with Adobe Reader

I used to be able to annotate PDF with Adobe Reader documents (electricity bills, Council rates, etc.). Has had a recent drive failure and had to re - install the operating system of Windows 7 SP 1 and most of the applications.

Now, I have Adobe Reader 9, V 9.3.4 (don't remember what version I had before). With this player, I see comments that I did before (I mean before the disk failure), but I can not activate the comment & toolbar from the Markup. All PDF documents now show "commenting: unauthorized".

Can anyone suggest how to fix this?

    Thank you

Upgrade to XI player or later.

    Hi Steven,

Right-click in the PDF file, go to 'Open with' & choose "Adobe Acrobat XI".

Let me know if the file opens in Adobe Acrobat XI or not.

Also, I would like to know if there is an error.

  • I can't open the PDF with Adobe Reader XI... get an error that "Adobe has stopped working" then it closes.  Any suggestions?

I can't open the PDF with Adobe Reader XI... get an error that "Adobe has stopped working" then it closes.  Is it a question of Adobe, Microsoft problem or security issue?

Since you talk about Microsoft, I guess you're on Windows.

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].

    Hi Ajlan,

To solve my problem, I uninstalled adobe reader X with "Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool", rebooted the server, installed Adobe Reader XI and restarted again.

For some users, this fixes the problem, but with a few others, I had to define default Adobe Reader again.

I tried without using 'Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat cleaning tool' front and the adobe reader X software was not really uninstall.

    Thank you

  • Digital signature of a PDF with Adobe Reader

    Hello

I am trying to create a PDF file with a form of digital signature so that one of our users with Adobe Reader can sign digitally (to allow) the document.

I use Acrobat 9 Standard, I created the signature form and saved with "extend forms fill-in & save in Adobe Reader... "It works very well for other forms (check the box for example) but not the Signature field. The field is visible, but all options are grayed out.

Security before saving settings 'extend forms fill-in & save in Adobe Reader... "all are allowed, but after changing the Document/Document Assembly/comments/signature/creation of template Pages are all unauthorized. I have appreciatesome need to be restricted to allow extended functionality work in Adobe Reader, but the link below means (unless I'm missing something) that the signature should be possible in Adobe Reader:

    http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/Reader/8.0/help.HTML?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195 ff - 7d48.html

Did I miss something or it just not work?

    Thanks in advance

One thing that can cause this is a system incorrect date/time on one of the machines. If the date indicated on the machine of the reader is before the date on which the document was compatible player, it will happen.  It could be something else, like a font problem, but it's hard to say without looking at the paper.

  • The research of the embedded index does not work for the PDF file opened with Adobe Reader in a browser

Due to the way in which we use our Document management system, if we want to search through multiple or large files stored in our DMS PDF we merge PDF together and create an embedded index. This works perfectly well, when you open the PDF file in Adobe Reader standalone. Enter a particular term can bring 100 hits (very quickly) in the Adobe Reader search results pane.

However, if we launch the PDF with Adobe Reader in Internet Explorer (any version), enter a term to search (contained in document) only get one result, that of the file name of the document itself.

Unfortunately most of our users will access our DMS documents with internal links.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

It is a problem with Reader 8. You must use that...

Using Reader 9. It will work well with it.

    Hello

which API allows to save the PDF with Adobe Reader 9? It is said that "CosDocSaveWithParams" may not be used.

I've personally used both in the drive in a plugin, and the drive itself makes these calls.  HOWEVER, they only work on the active Reader documents.

    Hello

I have a PDFque documentation I read with Adobe Reader. It appears by default at 58% with the left column of the bookmarks that size it is good for. The plug-in may not work well in Firefox because you are using an older version of Adobe Reader.

Please note that there is currently a security breach uncorrected in Adobe Reader that is actively exploited by criminals.

    Hello JohnDeCastro,

    Thank you for posting.

Ppl repeatedly face problems when opening. EXE files.

    • The EXE file opens in Notepad.
    • EXE file opens in a few other installed programs.
    • Windows displays the 'Open with' dialog box to select the program.
    • Windows displays the error message "Windows cannot find .exe file. Make sure you typed the name correctly.

Most of the time it happens when you accidentally replace. Type of exe to Folder Options settings. Sometimes, it can happen due to the virus.

In any case no need to worry. Here's a solution that will fix this annoying problem:

    1. open RUN command prompt by typing the command in the dialog box.

    2 provide now following command:

    cd\windows

3 it will activate the Windows folder. Now provide following command to open the Registry Editor:

    Regedit

    4 now goto following key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe

In the right pane, change the value of default elements exefile key

    5 now goto:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Exefile\Shell\Open\Command

In the right pane, change the value of the default key to:

    "%1" %*

6 that's it. Now, quit the registry editor and restart your Windows. Now you should be able to open EXE files without any problem.

Please let me know if this helps you.
