  You did not mention which version of the operating system (XP, Vista, W7)?

  One needs drivers Intel gigabit network.

  The other requires the Intel Management Engine Interface driver (or the driver HECI).

  The last one needs that you must first install the chipset driver.

  My laptop HP G42 230 BR simply stopped access to the internet and I noticed in Device Manager that the controller network & pci simple communication controller drivers are missing. I tried to install a few drivers I found online, but without success. I formatted and reinstalled windows 7 and still the same.

I try to install the local service manageabiltiy and series over LAN Driver and it will not be installed. He told me that the computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will close. I ran it in compatibility Vista without success mode.

  Thanks for pointing me finger the drivers, but I had already downoloaded the drivers. I discovered that I had tried to run the Setup files that would not be executed, when I had to do was just to update the driver and that it points to the installation folder. Really simple in the end.

  There is no upgrade XP to Win 7. You will have to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install. If all the drivers that are installed will now be lost. All your personal files are lost too if you must go back and placed on external media first and be sure to have your software product key and software installation media (for example, MS Office), because you will have to reinstall everything

  Dell does not support Win 7 on the Dimension 8300. If you run the free Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your system is capable of managing in Win 7 and what drivers and software can be a problem. You can watch the video here to get advice from Microsoft by moving from XP to Windows 7.

  And to answer your specific questions, this driver can be installed when you install the chipset after loading Windows 7, or it could be the modem driver Conexant (dial-up). So if you use an Ethernet port to connect to the internet, it can even no need to install drivers for the modem.
