Controlling the flow of data

Hello

I'm working on a program in which I have to control the flow of data on the wires.

The task is that the data should not pass until a given value is generated. And the program remains the playback thread until this value is generated.

While the value received, now the passage of data to all loop regardless the data that is generated on.

That's why I created two loops while we research this value and the other is the principal who must perform processing when the specified value is generated (taken in the first loop).

It could also say that "wait until the reception of a certain value.

The first loop is created just to wait until a value of 3.

The second loop is the principal who must deal with.

  • How to change the value of string clustered, to implement using the node value of property instead of writing directly on the flow of data or using the variable

    new to labview :-) and I have a problem when I want to change the value of a string in bunches, and I want to implement this using the node value of property instead of writing directly to the stream or by using the variable, enclosed is the picture.   No matter, I have change in cluster (control) or value of Popery out (indicator) cluster, the value (sensor 7) dataflow keeps unchanged even I gave the new value by value of property node. Thank you to give me some advice about this.

    Hi GerdW

    Thanks a lot for your answer. The reason I'm stubbornly tring to break the flow of DATA is: we have a test system that have about 100 screws, they have a few connected flow, some of them will be unbundling a cluster dataflow chain to check the value in order to make the different cases.  Now I want to insert user event by changing the control and influential cases during run time.

    As I initially uses a global variable (to control cases) instead of unbundle string data flow, it works well.  But then, I found there are a lot of screws that are using the string unbundle.  One of the 'lazy' means, I tried is to change the value via the property node (because that way, I did not need to find all the places where using the unbundle string and replace them with the global variable), then I noticed a problem with "dataflow", the value in the stream of cluster in fact will not be changed by changing the value of the property node.

    I did a test with VI simple (like the picture in last post), and after reading your advice, I tell myself that I need to understand the concept of "DATAFLOW" in labview, it seems that my "lazy" way can not work in this scenario.

    I have attached the criterion VI here, have you furthur suggestions on what I can do in this case?

    Mant thanks!

  • control the flow of a HPLC L - 6200A Merck - Hitachi pump

    Hello

    I'm trying to control the flow of a HPLC L - 6200 A Merck - Hitachi pump. I already found a VI in this forum in the post below:

    I put the pump switches according to the manual as I changed the pump in remote mode. Also, I adjusted my COM port settings in windows system manager according to the pump and LabView. The problem is, that the pump doesn't make any signal sent from the computer. I used "free serial port monitor" to ensure that a string is sent througt the COM port. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem here? I would really appreciate the help. Thank you in advance,

    Greetings,

    Hey,.

    Thanks for the reply. It was in fact the indicator in the right direction. I used RealTerm trying to send a signal to the pump. Apparently, the problem was the type of string, I sent to the pump. In the discussion above, the string of space was sent as "\s", but apparently it can directly be sent as "". "" Yes, it's always the small details... In any case, thanks for your help.

    I want to use a drop-down list box (or a similar control) in a VI to select from a list of strings to direct execution in TestStand.

    • How connect the channel selected in the combo box at the output of the VI Terminal so I can see it in TestStand?

    • What should I use as 'value' in the parameter module TestStand to retrieve the result of that VI?

    I tried "wiring" the exit from the drop-down list box to a wire string variable then this variable to an output without success Terminal.

    Also, how to reference this (result) setting within TestStand?

    It is a simple task and there can be only one solution TestStand, I'm looking for a simple direct execution sequence by the operator to select a string in a list.

    I studied this problem, but could not find instances of the digital comparisons or string canned and did not find a generic model that would return a string to a VI to TestStand result.

  • Looking for an explanation of the flow of data around a structure of event with data going in and coming out of it

    I am trying to add a case to the structure of the event shown below.  Other cases in the event structure close the front afterwards.  I wish my case in abeyance the façade.  Is it possible to do it with this configuration?

    Because the invoke method is in front of the structure of the event what it means that the Panel should be open whenever the structure of the event begins to look for an event?

    The structure of the event by using the code below, after I pressed the button calibrate stop listening to additional events.  I moved the functions close FP within the structure of the event, so other events he would call here but this does not seem to make a difference.

    Thanks for any help.

    Dave

    An event structure only waiting for an event.  To continue waiting for the events after the first occurs, you must put the event structure within a while loop.  Then you can put your knot FP close outside while loop and thread the stop of the while loop condition for the loop stops for the case that you want to close your façade.

    OK, very weird, but it works now.
    After much poking, I simply change the procedure for

    create or replace PROCEDURE PROC_ACCESS_LEVEL IS
        v_access_level number := 0 ;
        BEGIN

            select count(*) into v_access_level
            from emp where deptno = 120;

    IF v_access_level >= 1 THEN

       apex_util.set_session_state('FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL','f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':1:' || v('SESSION')|| ':');

        ELSE

       apex_util.set_session_state('FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL','f?p=' || v('APP_ID') || ':3:' || v('SESSION')|| ':');
        END IF;

    END;

    The FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL is used for deep-linking to send a user to a given after the login page.
    The nice thing about using FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL here, it's that if you always want to allow deep linking you can check IF FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL is null or not null and replace if necessary.

    There you go! I hope this helps.

  • SMU-6556 - how to control the rise in digital lines (hsdio) time

    Hello

    Is it possible to control the rise in digital lines SMU-6556 time?

    Even in a low frequency 10 kHz signal rise time is 2ns.

    TKS,

    Hello engfpe,

    The SMU-6556 is a 50 Ohm system, which means that the output is source series finished to be 50 Ohms and all our cables and accessories are 50 Ohms.  With this configuration, regardless of the flow of data, you should have a clean edge up or down, regardless of the data rate. The quality of the production (edge up or down) on your device is related to the adaptation of impedance of your cables.

    The SMU-6556 cannot adjust the speed of scanning by itself.  However, you can insert simple passive components to do it for you.  I have attached below the images.  The first is a diagram showing a way to slow down the edge.  The second is the a waveform simulation showing the rate of original edge before it slows down and the edge of idle.   This simulation is not the SMU-6556 but rather a generic digital output for concept.  In the schema that R1 is set on 34 Ohms because U1.8 has the 16 additional Ohms on the inside.  TL1 is the output of 50 ohms simulating the cable on the SMU-6556.  R2, R3, and C1 are components, you can insert after the SMU-6556 twist before moving your device/cable.  In this configuration from cable to your device is TL2 which is also 50 ohm, but it could be another impedance in which case you would change R3 to match.

    You can see in the attached images, you can slow down significantly the edge with this configuration by altering the C1.  I hope this helps.

  • How to control the structure of the event

    What I'm trying to do, it's when the condtion is true, I want that the structure of the event to excute. But the event structure wil excute not except if he's changed the puch model, any idea how?

    It is more likely that he wants the sequence of events that he has set up to run after the result once changes.  If you change the logic to check the values after each numeric change (2), you will need to learn how to check to make sure that the latest iteration was not true.  Otherwise, it will start the sequence over and over.

    Really, you have to escape completely the structure of the event.  This isn't what you want.  Your code lends itself to a great state machine.

    You'll want to ask you a few things:

    (1) I want my code to run continuously or I just want to check double-digit times? (your code is currently the second)

    (2) I want the user to be able to stop my code once the sequence begins? (it is usually a Yes)

    (3) what I want 6 Road, path 5 or the comparison to happen first?  I want all run at the same time?  Do I need one before the other? (currently, you cannot predict what will happen first).

    You will need to understand the topics are: State of the machines, the flow of data, structures, business, calendar, and race conditions.  Now, you need to get you into trouble.

  • Help on the passage of data between vi when built in exe

    Hello

    I have this problem and grateful if someone can give me a heads up the right direction.

    I'm trying to write a program for acquisition of data and control of two instruments simultaneously.

    An instruments is a rotating stage that I control the movement and data read using activex controls. I do this in a vi that I have two distinct time of lines, one for updating the Rotary floor continuous data and other while loop for the handles of event structure.

    The second instrument is a detector that follows the rotation of scene. For this, I have an another vi with two loops for example, for data acquisition hollow rs232 and another while the loop is to the structure of the event.

    I use globals to pass data between the vi and it works very well in a labview project environment. However when I Isaiah to compile these exe files. I can no longer spend data.

    Is there a programming method when you communicate with more than one instrument. What I want to ask is, say I have a function, oscilloscope etc engine generator How can I control them in windows separated (for example, separate programs) and pass data to the other?

    I would be grateful for any help.

    Hello

    Global variables are not accessible to separate executables because their areas of memory are not shared. This can be found in the following document: If I can use a Global Variable to share data between two executable LabVIEW? The only way to have it working would be to use a main VI that launches your two separate applications like subVIs. This would allow you to share a global variable between the two. Your other option would be to use the method described in the article, or to use shared Variables: How to communicate between several executable LabVIEW using shared Variables?

  • force the flow of execution

    I'm a newbie has arrived from VEE, so please be patient.

    Vee, I always sequence input pins and output sequence on any bow that allow me to force the execution of a box.

    In labview instead I'm not, so I guess that the execution order is always driven by data, correct them?

    Now, I just created a few local variables where I want to store internal information, so I have the objects in the front panel, and the 'local' connect to them in the chart:

    (as you can imagine, I'm changing a complex program, I didn't write it...)

    Now, since these couples: 'Acq length', 'timeIntensity', 'Acq Start time', in whole isn't all input/output, I don't see how to impose their execution. In fact, they are never executed...

    what I am doing wrong? Thank you for your help...

    alzyx wrote:

    > On the side right of the LabVIEW forum main page, there are links to tutorials.  Try them.

    Thanks for the suggestion...

    I am already tracking at least 3 manuals/tutorials in parallel,

    but nowhere I found an answer to this question.

    From what I've seen (Please correct if I am wrong), the execution goes according to:

    (1) the data flow

    (2) the error in / error on pins

    ... Since my case is not available, I'm really at a loss to know what to do.

    P.S. just in case my using local variables deemed not necessary: I transfer data using son whenever that is possible, but in this case I use inhabitants because I set a few values within a species a case structure, and I do use them in another case.

    If the transfer of data by wires between the cases is possible, I will be happy to hear!

    Alessandro

    You are on the right track, except that the error in and out is just another example of data flow.

    LabVIEW data flow can be summarized in two sentences:

    A node will not run as long as all entries are filled.

    A node will not produce output until the node has executed completely.

    When you boil everything down to basics, those are the only things that determine the flow of data.  If you take these two instructions literally, all cases where it seems that the execution order is ambiguous are really ambiguous - and you'd better fix it if a node is run before the other.

    It's really a case of 'easier said than done. "

  • Conflict of flow of data on the front panel

    Hello

    My vi is almost done, but I still have a problem with the front panel. I think that there is data traffic conflicts in my vi.

    When you run my vi, you will see the pop-up window asking you to set a path of file, control devices, selection of data to record and trace. Then, you might want to change the units, turn off all the buttons light and ok to select what data you want to save. Then click on RUN.

    The problem is; supposedly all the buttons are on by default, if you disable certain economies or tracing buttons to choose not to save, and then click RUN, after that all the buttons are again even if you have turned off before the race. They must stay off, if you have selected to save. The condition of main data flow is always the same be before running (only light buttons and ok).

    Do you have ideas of how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    You have what is called a race condition that usually slips in programs that use local variables.  If you look at your first while loop to read in the current value of the 'steam data hand' control and store in a shift register.  After the structure of the event outputs you write this offset value to register in the control and in the process of replacement of the changes that the user can do.

    A quick and dirty solution would be to manage the main event to change the value for 'Stream' in the structure of your event to update the shift register whenever the user changes the values in the control.

    A better solution would be to get rid of the shift registers and move local variables in the structure of the event.  As long as the option "lock the front until the end of the event" (I'm not sure of the exact wording and I work in the LabVIEW Base at the moment so I can't check) is selected it will ensure that you do not work in a race condition (you know the value cannot change inbetween you value reading, and you update the control).

    Even better would be to avoid local variables wherever possible.  This is general advice only and not not something that I can do much more tangible without knowing the details of how you want your application to behave.

    Hope this helps,

    Simon
