Convert originals of the PSD to TIFF

My Lightroom Catalog contains a lot of PSD files (created in older versions of Photoshop, before that TIFF was recording format by default). They have layers.

I want to convert this PSD to TIFF files - ideally compression TIFF + ZIP, since this seems to reduce the file size quite significantly.

Is it possible to automate this? My current workflow goes like this:

  1. Open a PSD in Photoshop
  2. File > save as, choose TIFF + ZIP
  3. Remove the PSD file.
  4. Lightroom detects that the file is missing. Choose to place on the file, select it. TIF file version, click OK.
  5. Click on confirm when prompted that file names do not match.
  6. Now, I have a. Original TIF in my catalog.

This process requires a lot of manual work. I can automate (sort of) the PSD > conversion TIF using the Image in Photoshop processor, but:

  • Image processor allows only LZW compression, no ZIP.
  • After I deleted the. PSD, Lightroom requires me to review for each missing file and 'Search' individually - I can't do this with several files at the same time.

Any suggestions?

Other things I've tried:

  • Convert from Lightroom to DNG function. This eliminates my PSD layer information, so this won't work.
  • Function rename to Lightroom. I thought I could rename the. PSD files. TIF before their conversion, which avoids the manual step of having to use 'Locate' on each file. But Lightroom will not rename the files with a different file extension, so it does not work.
  • Export of Lightroom with "Add to catalogue" activated function. That's what I want either, because it exports a file with LR changes applied. I want to replace the original file with a different format, while retaining all its metadata in LR and changes in the catalog.

Thank you!

Sorry, I just checked Image Processor Dr.Brown Pro, and it does not ZIP "Compression of images", but with ELA ' layer of Compression, which probably won't give you a file size much smaller than the PSD with "maximize compatibility.

You can do this with a PS Action and use a controller > Batch command allows to process a file or a folder with subfolders tree if they contain only layered PSD files.

Create the Action

(1) open one image PSD layered file.

(2) to open the Actions panel and click on the "Create new Action" button, name it something like "Save as TIFF (ZIP + ZIP)" and click on the record button.

(3) then go to file > save as > select "TIFF" Format, select the two images and ZIP compression layer, and then click OK.

(4) hit the button "Stop Action" square. Fact!

Automate batch processing

1) go to file > automate > batch

(2) select the action just created in the "Action" drop-down list if it is not already selected.

(3) under 'Source', select the folder, or a top-level folder with subfolders that contain layerd PSD files. Also check 'Include subfolders' If you want to process subfolders.

(4) check "Override Action" save under "orders' so that it ignores the filename and destination folder used to create the action.

5) click OK to start the batch job. According to the number of files being processed, it may take some time to complete. TIFF files will be saved in the same folder as the PSD files.

You will still need to find a way to synchronize settings between the PSD and TIFF LR.

  • Open, save a copy of the psd as a layered tiff file

Looking for script or action that would allow me to open selected (perhaps a folder) psd files, save them under layers of hair in the same folder. or a new folder also.

    Suggestions, ideas.

The best thing to do is to create this action yourself. You will learn a lot from that.

    Open one of the PSD.

Create a new action and start recording.

Choose file--> save as and select the Tiff format and make sure layers has a tick mark next to him.

Any location you save will be held where all files go when you run the action (by default anyway).

Do not change the file name, in this way, the names of original PSD files will be used when you batch process.

Now, close the file without saving changes if you want to use this action on a folder. You don't want to accidentally spoil the original files after all.

After doing these things you can stop the recording.

    Now, the action was created.

To run it go to file--> controller--> lot.

    Select your newly created Action.

For Source, select 'folder '. Then choose the folder with all the PSD in Photoshop you want to save as TIFF files in layers.

If you want to save in a different location just change this in the 'Destination' menu by selecting "file".

All you have to do is now click OK and look at your batch of additional transformations.

Here is the action example that I just created to save the PSD in Photoshop layered tiff files:

    https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24262740/save%20To%20layered%20tiffs.ATN

In this example layered tiff files go to 'C:\test\ '. I created it to make sure that what I said actually works.

Edit: screen on the lot, you can also select the Source "Opened files", since that is what you wanted to do. If you do that with the example action above the open files is closed after the batch process took place. It's because when I created the action I closed the file before to stop the action. When you create these actions yourself, you get to decide these small details but important.

  • How can I convert my site to PSD design

Hello everyone I am beginner in web development, I need help with my problem, I want to ask how can I convert my website in PSD format. Here is the link of my site showbizcorner.com.

Prompt response will be highly appreciated. Kind regards!

Any screen Capture program preferably one that can do auto scroll the window will work. A good example is the problem of techsmith or Adobe acrobat. Save it as a tiff, png, or pdf, then open in Photoshop, you can then save as a psd file.

  • Strange behavior with the PSD in Photoshop

I am currently working with a two-page ID CS5.5 document. This is a CMYK document with CMYK images and grayscale.

Strange behavior is the following: I have a gray levels (tiff) image that is repeated on the page 1 and page 2. This image looks completely different from page 1 to page 2. I have triple checked everything (opactiy, effects, etc.) and then I started to remove items from page 2 one by one.

As I deleted a psd file all of a sudden all the images in grayscale on page 2 changed his appearance to match page 1. The PSD in question is also in CMYK with a transparent background. What the frack happens?

I'm more concerned to know if it makes a difference when it goes to print, or if it's just weird screen in InDesign.

Anyone who has heard of this or know why this happens - would like to hear from you.

    Thank you!

I think it's simply because of full transparency on the page. Should not affect the production of gray images... but check in Acrobat.

  • Problem with the PSD file in Illustrator

    G ' Day,.

My problem is when I place the PSD file in illustrator, it opens menu 'Option to import Photoshop' ,
that allows me to choose either:
    (1) photoshop layers convert to objects (or)
    (2) flatten layers into a single image photoshop

all other options are greyed out (which means that I can't select them)

The 2 options above will embed the image in illustrator, so when I update in photoshop, they will not automatically update.

I don't have this problem in the past (which means that I do not understand this menu when I use the function of the place), but it is just poped last week.
But when I open OLD illustrator files that have PSD images embeded no, I am able to edit the PSD and Illustrator will be automatically updated.

Please help this is really frustrating to keep investment PSD files every time when I change.

    Thank you!

I hope you saw the link check the option above what I wanted, if not selected it would prompt you with a dialog box that you encounter.

  • How to apply a shade to the psd import?

    Greetings!

    I have a document in InDesign CS5.

In Illustrator CS5, I opened a post back, copy it in Photoshop, remove the background registered and imported as a psd in the top layer of my InDesign CS5 document.

What I'm fails, with a lot of enthusiasm and flair, to do is to apply a shade (spot color I defined) to the image I imported.

At present, any... psd graphic is black and the background transparent. If I apply a shade, the bottom is swatched and the image stays black.

How can I get the nuance applied to the image and not the psd?

Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated.

    Antoine

Down and dirty, but should help point you in the right direction. Sorry, but I have no time for detailed instructions.

Copy the image. Paste in place.

Create a clipping path using the object > Clipping Path > Options > detect edges command. Adjust if necessary.

Object > Clipping Path > convert Clipping path to frame.

    Remove the graphic.

Fill it with the color of your choice and be sure to put it to overprint.

  • Maximum size of the psd file of CS5 2 gig?

I´m PS CS5 64 bit on a system Win7 w 4 GB of RAM running. I ve read somewhere on a PSD file size limited to 2 giga max.

    Still holds true?

Same thing on a mac w 8gig of RAM (and PS CS5 64-bit)?

Thank you all for your comments!

    Cheers, Erbs

It can only be read by Photoshop CS or newer. Don't know about Illustrator, but it's probably the same for her. You can also try using the format of TIFF files that supports up to 4 GB in size, but once again, only Photoshop CS or newer will open them if they are beyond 2 GB

  • Helps export jpg in the same folder with the psd files

It's maybe a stupid question, but I can't understand this.  When I use CS4 for working on a photo it is important (self stacked) with the original CR2 (Canon) file without problem.  What I understand to convert the PSD file to jpg, it must be exported as a jpg.  When I do that and check the box to stack with original and then go into the library; I see not the jpg until I sync the folder.  Is it possible to have the jpg file appear in the stack without having to SNYC manually whenever I have it change?  I hope that makes sense!

    Alan

In the export dialog box where you configure all of your options.  Under Export location, there is a checkbox "add to catalogue".  If you check that option can also stack the copies with others.

  • using converter to connect the cable presentation to SX20 codec

    Hi all

We SX20 and we need to make the presentation of video calls.

We have HDMI cable stretched between the codec and the Conference table, the problem is that we can't get more cables of the codec to the meeting table.

I tried to use a DVI HDMI converter to connect the cable to the codec, but unfortunately it did not work.

It is a specific type of converters that will work?

has anyone have the same problem and managed to resolve it?

or is it at least, is a document of cisco mentioning that the converters will not work in this case?

    Thanks in advance.

Amit: If you see a calbe like that "DVI2VGA" is already a "converter", at least if I read what Ibrahim.

In general, a cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter should work.

If this does not work, check with a different resolution or source (different computer)

and see if the cable is not for long (try a shorter for example)

and try the adapter on a different Setup.

Which would not have worked is DVI-> VGA and VGA-DVI-> HDMI > as VGA would break the digital signal

Analog = only VGA, HDMI = Digital only, DVI can carry both, but there may be no ordinary VGA2HDMI cable.

In addition, Ibrahim should check what is the definition of the type of entry for the dvi input.

I woud try it with first auto and then select digital and see if that makes a difference.

  • Can I integrate a video file in the psd and then send the psd to a person without the original video file included?

I want to send the client just the DSP with integrated video, but it seems that I have to send the original video file as well. Is anyway not to do this? Should not include just put the video file inside the psd so we have bind the original file again? THX!

Video layers seem to have included the link to the original video file.   I tried to get around this.  I copied a video file on my desktop. Then I have a new opening document 1920x1080px.  I then used the menu file > Place incorporated.  And placed in the video that I copied on my desk. I created a timeline of the video and was able to play the video.  I then save a PSD and close the open document. Then I deleted the video file on my desktop. Then I opened the PSD registered.  There seems to be a link... And the PSD file is small compared to the video file.

  • Change of color during the duplication of the PSD

This is a problem I had to deal with for a while.

Sometimes, I noticed that when I go to duplicate a PSD, there is a change in color. If you take a look at the integrated video, you'll see where I'll duplicate the PSD and show the configuration profile and the test of color are identical, but there is a change of color/saturation and final between the two documents. I also suspect that the color of the source PSD are incorrect, first because any new PSDs I create follow the most recent color offset values.

    Hi D gap, Aaron,

Perhaps what follows is the OSX bug, that you think, hey if there is others I did not saw it myself?

With some versions of Mac OS x there was a problem with some versions of Photoshop and the color management on the secondary screens. It seems to be a problem with photoshop not to pick up the secondary display deflector under certain circumstances.

In fact, in this case, the bug meant that Photoshop loaded the profile of the display on which the document open and has not changed the display profile if the file has been moved to the other screen.

This could be demonstrated by taking a test like mine image (composite, contains colors memory easy to see travel), duplication and drag a copy of a 2nd screen, when it works right, as the document gets a certain proportion of the place on the new screen, the color would be inappropriate because Photoshop picks up the second display profile. So with 2 screens calibrated and profiled, you should have 2 matching pictures to look at.

My solution for this was to place the bar of OSX menus on the screen more important (that I want color managed) then, when photoshop opens, it opens on this screen too. Now open Photoshop files (Adobe call them 'the documents') they will open on this "color management and main screen will be correct as the profile of the screen on the right will be used.

If this helps to explain the problem of Aaron is beyond me to understand, especially given his propensity to use Adobe RGB as their profile display. I suppose that, even if, as the Cintiq IS a secondary screen, it could be part of history.

Aaron, what version of Mac OS x is it please?

    I hope this helps

If so, please mark my answer as 'useful' and if you're OK now, like "right answer" if others who have similar problems can see the solution

  • view the psd with feather and the layer mask

    Hello

There is one case where I can't display a modified to correct Photoshop image in LR.

If the PSD file has a layer mask with a feather, LR displays a hard edge mask.

There is no problem with a normal gradient or shadow a layer style.

I'm on CC PS and LR CC, latest versions.

    Anyone have the same problem?

    Thank you

    JO

    LR display PS layer mask.jpg

This is a known bug in the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe knows about it, and I think they're going to fix in the next version of PS.
