Copy of database SQL Developer - you can copy a database non-Oracle?

I was hoping to use the database copy utility in Oracle SQL Developer 4.0.2.15 to copy data from a sybase database table in an oracle database table. I created both the Sybase and Oracle database connections, however only the Oracle connection is available in the 'Source' and 'Destination connection' lists drop-down in the copy database wizard. Is it possible to use this utility to copy a non-Oracle database, any advice would be much appreciated.

Assuming that you don't have just to copy a single table (or just a handful of tables), 'copy Oracle"function should appear when you right click on your target table from the Tables node on the sybase connection.

If you need to migrate tables more this can become tedious, but in this case probably consider using specially designed SQLDeveloper migration functions to migrate all drawings of third to Oracle databases (for this right click on the connection to sybase and choose "Migrate to Oracle").

  • SQL dev to connect via odbc to non-oracle db

Question asked to me regarding the use of sql dev to connect to a Turbo Image databsae running on a HP-3000 through odbc.  They have odbc drivers, but the front-end client is no longer supported and are looking for an alternative.  I've never used Dev of SQL to connect to a non-oracle database, but it seems as it should, maybe with the OTG for odbc.

    Ideas?

We are a java application. Yes JDBC.

And we offer only 3rd connectivity to help migration of Oracle. Currently we do not support Turbo-Image of database migration to Oracle.

There are however several ODBC database generic tools out there.

  • SQL Developer privileges and user...

Hi all! I created the user in DB. When I connect to that user through SQLDeveloper I can see other users tables. How can I disable this? While I don't see any other tables of users? And how do I see all my user roles and privileges?

    Best regards, Debuger!

This is determined by their privileges with all your username in the database. What roles/privileges give you him?

In SQL Developer, you can use the DBA module to display the privileges (select view |) S/N).

    You can also do

    select * from session_privs;

which gives you a view flattened what you have.

  • 1.5.4 - SQL-spreadsheet SQL-Developer does not use the owner of the Table

In older versions of the sql developer, you can remove a table in the spreadsheet and was built a select query. With the new version 1.5.4 - owner of the table is ' % s ' and you must inform the owner of the table or the query does not work with tables of other users.

Is this a bug or is there the possibility to change the settings to delete tables in the SQL-worksheet with the owners of the table.

You're DND from the node of the Table under the node of the other user? If so, I'm able to reproduce the problem you're talking about. Otherwise I still not got you problem clearly.

  • Issue of Oracle SQL Developer when you use VPN (Cisco)

    All,

We have a somewhat obscure issue with connectivity SQL Developer to our databases of the laptop has distance from the employee.

The database is hosted inside our firewall and when the employee is trying to connect to the database that it receives the following error message:
+ "Encountered error: an error has occurred to perform the requested operation: the network adapter could not establish the connection." Code provider 20 "+"

I think maybe I saw the error at some point as well...
Status: Failure-Test failed: IO error: the network adapter could not establish the connection

Note: It gets this error when you are connected to our VPN & so that it can connect through SQL * more on that same basis. It gets the error without worrying if he uses the option to enter tnsnames in SQL Developer or if it uses the "basic" connection type

What is interesting, is that if he disconnects the VPN, will turn off its wireless connectivity, then hard-wire in our network, it can connect, without issue.

The strangest part for me, is that although it cannot connect to the database using SQL Developer, it can connect through SQL * more. It can ping the IP source address very well, he can tnsping database without problem, it can connect through SQL * Plus, it just cannot connect through SQL * Developer. Since SQL * more and tnsping work, I know that it can access the db server through port 1521, so I don't think it's a problem of port.

Another weird thing: when it connects to our network via a 'old' virtual private network (VPN open) there is no problem.

His machine is Windoz 64 bit (HP laptop) and it uses the latest version of the SQL Developer and a JAVA virtual machine.

Also interesting: I also have a Windoz 64 bit computer laptop (Lenovo) and I don't have the same issues, as it does. I am however running an older version of SQL Developer and probably an older JVM.

I dug around a bit, looks like maybe it has something to do with IPv6? No idea what to do next, except have my network guy look at the logs of firewall to try to grasp where the connectivity has been ignored.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I tried all sorts of things (giving him my file tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora, manually editing these files, try IP addresses instead of host names, host names I tried with the doman.org extensions, etc.).

Still, any suggestion would be appreciated and I thank very you much.

I try with model db (DB empty, just a single table), but the error is same. However, if I try to copy the acronym tabele from SQL Server to Oracle it works fine...

I guess it's something with the configuration, but beacause I am new in Oracle still have no idea...

Any help would be much appreciated

    I thank in advance

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

did you create the repository Migration of your database to Oracle (Tools-> Migration-> repository management)?

The SS2K5ALLPLATFORM package is usually created when you add the migration of the Oracle database repository and it contains the function StageCapture.

So please make sure that you have created a repository of migration in an Oracle database and associate it with the first step of your migration.

  • Order that SQL Developer Modeler generates objects in DDL download

Little annoying question... When I have an existing data model that includes all of my table definitions and ALSO my package definitions, I try to make a DDL download and load it into an instance of Oracle 11g and get an error on a procedure declaration does not have a column type.

What I see is when I open the prepared ddl script, the package is created until the table is under construction.  Is it possible I can tell SQL Developer Data Modeler to build like objects together (table, then sequences and then triggers and packages and procedures/functions?

SQL Developer Data model version 4.1.3 Oracle database 11g r2...

    Thank you

    Tony Miller
    Los Alamos, NM

    Hi Tony,.

Data Modeler generates at the beginning of the Package definitions in the DDL file, so that they appear before the objects such as Tables, views, and triggers that may refer to them.

And the Package body are generated at the end, so that they can refer to Tables and views.

Unfortunately there is no option to change the sequence of generation.

In general, the Data Modeler takes dependencies between objects into account to generate the DDL file objects in a proper order.

However, it does not detect the dependencies TYPE %.  I connected an enhancement request to add to its dependency checking (22581821).

    Kind regards

  • Non-Oracle DB with SQL Developer

I wonder if any body knows if the SQL Developer "Requester" can work with databases non-Oracle? (using connection drivers we can connect to a database)

I have to work with Teradata now, but the Oracle tool was perfect for me, now I want to use this tool to make complex queries.

    Any advise?

I remember well, version 3.0, SQL Developer under license from a third-party tool (see ActiveQueryBuilder.jar) to replace the old Query Builder.  This tool offers support for several flavors of SQL on several RDBMS platforms.  The problem was, our team began to hear about problems with the query designer on the Oracle RDBMS as well as issues with more complex Oracle SQL queries which does not correctly handle the third-party tool.

For various reasons, including limited control on bug fixing by the third party and emphasizing the support of third-party RDBMS Oracle migration, it was decided to take the position Query Builder provided as a tool for Oracle SQL non-expert programmers.

I do not exactly remember when support for Oracle NON-SQL got off, but you can start with the 3.2.2 version to see if that allows him to always...

    SQL Developer downloads version 3.2.2

.. .and chain backwards (see the link at the bottom of the page) to a previous version if necessary.

    Hope this helps,

    Gary

  • How and why I get lowered note version 4.1 to 3.2 SQL Developer?

First of all, I must say that I am a newbie.  I know a little SQL to use it on my own over the years to build queries and reports outside the overview of the it Department.  I'm at halfway through the first book Fundamentals SQL for Oracle Database 12 c Certification in the end.

A week ago when I started this journey, I downloaded Oracle 12 c and later SQL Developer 4.1 and was using SQL Developer 4.1 successfully.  But when I tried to follow the examples of OE and HR in the book of preparation review making simple queries, I had to download the "examples of database" oracle.com/downloads.  I downloaded the zip and run the setup.exe file.  Now, I'm going to open the same exact shortcut, which I had used for SQL Developer 4.1 and it now opens instead of the SQL Developer 3.2!  Why the hell should I suddenly have SQL Developer 3.2 an older version? Has anyone else got a happen to them?  Do you know why it happened to me?  And above all, it won't hurt anything if I returned to oracle.com/downloads and re - download SQL Developer 4.1 the latest version?  Or do I somehow the old version of the SQL Developer to use the HR and OE schemas, tables, and data?

Thanks for any idea you may have in this weird situation.

    Heather

You can install as many versions of SQL Developer you want, simply unpack each in its own empty directory.

"Examples of database" download & install must have diverted your shortcut.  Probably version 4.1 is still installed and you just create a new shortcut.  Better yet, 2 shortcuts: one for version 3.2 and one for version 4.1, as in the names of shortcut 'SQLDev32' and 'SQLDev41 '.

Edit: Using 3.2 for the examples in the book preparation will be easier because the SQL Developer can change from one version to another and no longer exactly correspond with them.

  • How to install the driver jdbc for sql server 2005 in sql developer 4.0?

    Hallo all

I need to access the tables in a MS SQL Server 2005 database.

    The JDBC driver is possible.

    How to install this driver?

Thanks a lot for your messages.

    Hello

    It's the documentation-

    Database: third-party JDBC Drivers

The component drivers JDBC third party specifies drivers to use for connections to the third-party databases (non-Oracle), such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You don't need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add an entry and select the path for the driver:

For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds - 1.2.jar, which is included in the download of jtds - 1.2 - dist.zip

To find a specific third-party driver, visit the appropriate site (for example, http://www.mysql.com for MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server jTDS driver, or search for Teradata JDBC driver to http://www.teradata.com/ ). For MySQL, use the driver in MySQL 5.0 not 5.1 or a later version with the version of SQL Developer 1.5.

You must specify a third-party driver or install a driver using the check for updates feature before you can create a connection to a database to third parties of the associated type. (See the tabs to create connections to the databases of third parties in the Create/Edit/Select database connection dialog box).

    Alternative:

As an alternative to the use of this preference, you can click Help, and then search for the updates install the for Microsoft SQL Server JTDS JDBC driver and the driver of JDBE of MySQL as extensions.

  • Uninstall SQL Developer completely clean reinstall

My 2.1 software developer SQL failed on three Windows-XP based computers. It works on other computers than also SQL Developer 2.1 installed (including a departmental server), so I'm pretty sure that the problem is some setting or parameter on three computers (two laptops and a desktop) and is not a problem of bug SQL Developer.

The failure mode is that, for these three computers only, for three specific connections (it works for all others), three connections test successfully, can develop views, procedures, links, etc., but can not extend the tables object. By using the same user ID and password, everything works perfectly on the server of the Department. On the computers of three problem, if I do not try to develop the tables, I can run SQL in the SQL worksheet. If I try to expand the tables, the connection no longer works, and the SQL worksheet generates errors like "OALL8 is in an inconsistent state" and "breach of Protocol".

I removed the software SQL Developer and searched and deleted every registry entry that included 'sql dev', 'sqldev' and the name of the database (with the exception, of course, to this DSN database).

To reinstall SQL Developer, he always finds all of my old relationships, so I know that I don't get a clean install.

Where SQL Developer does not have the login information from my previous installation?

How can I completely remove SQL Developer so that it looks like SQL Devoper has never been installed before?

    TIA,

    Extreme Farley

SQLDeveloper stores its settings in your user directory.

in Windows XP, it is located in:

    documents and settings\%USERNAME%\Application Developer\systemXXXXX\ Data\SQL

You can delete the entire folder of SQL Developer to have one really uninstall.

Mind the Application Data folder is hidden.

I also use a photo of the Web Site, which is not related to my work as Oracle, but for it's photo uploader also uses Java, and which is slow, that's why I think that the problem is based on Java. I would say that the problem occurred in the last two months but has gotten much worse in recent weeks. Developer SQL is slow at times, especially when I used another application and it's just in the background.

    Kind regards

    Tim

    Two things here at first:

    * JDK:
If you do not remove one sqldev used before, he always uses this one. You can change yourself in \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:

    SetJavaHome C:\Archivos programa\Java\jdk1.6.0_10

Be sue to point to a JDK, however, not a JRE that you mentioned above. Update 1.6.x generally better performance than 1.5.x update.

    * GeoRaptor:
You installed this extension and it's errors. If you don't need or it doesn't work anymore, better to disable it in preferences - Extensions.

The NullPointerException in SearchBarAddin is already for several versions, but dev seems not very motivated to solve. Just ignore it.
If you still see exceptions after checking the JDK and GeoRaptor, or sqldev is still useless, do come back and give some details about the memory usage.

    Hope that helps,
    K.

  • How to connect container with SQL developer

    Hi all

This is probably a trivial question-, but I'm not able to find the answer. I use sqlplus most of the time, so I am not familiar with SQL developer.

I have 12 c and container named ORACONTAINER, in this container, I HR schema.

When I do connect via sqlplus ("sqlplus hr/hr@ORACONTAINER') - it works well, and"sqlplus HR/HR"will not work - and that's ok.

With SQL developer I can connect as sys, but when I try h/h it gives me name of username/password invalid - because I do not know where to specify the user HR container.

    Thank you

    Darko

Try to give ORACONTAINER service name in sql developer.
