  I installed a new copy of the Sierra of MacOS, and most things seem to be well-oiled. However, I noticed that when I copy a file and paste it on the same volume, a copy of it remains in the original location. So, by example, if I download a file in the Downloads folder and then copy this file in Documents, a copy of the file remains in the folder downloads.   Try the press / hold down the command key while you click and drag a file from one folder to another. Like El Capitan, this should move the file.

  About Terminal, the up/down arrows always work for me to remind the right Terminal commands like they did with El Capitan.

  It looks like a feature and not a bug.

  iCloud is not really duplicate files in the files collection of application.  It looks like a file duplicate of the same size as the original, that you have opened, but iCloud is record storage by creating symbolic links. .

  I checked several of apparent duplicates in the Terminal, and if I list the file with the Terminal command

  I see that the inodes are identical to the original and the duplicate.  So no additional storage is required.

  FWIW, do not change the extensions of file simply by copying the files to an external drive.

  Thunderbird started hanging when copying messages in the sent folder. It is a business Google gmail account that I work with.   With regular Gmail accounts and I also assume with the accounts of the company, a copy of the sent message is automatically stored in the IMAP folder sent, so you should uncheck "place a copy in" under the tools/account settings /AccountName/Copies & records. Does make a difference?

  Subscribed IMAP folders accounts configured to synchronize and place a copy of the folder on the server in the profile of mail, but this issue is constantly updated to match the server, so if you have new messages then these changes are made to the server folder and the folder on your computer is updated to match the server folder.
