Correction of names of imported files (rename the way of bulk in original file names)

Accidentally, I've included a change of file name when I imported a whole batch of several hundred images. I broke a rule that I teach my own students of Lightroom and is watching carefully the choice of Panel to import before continuing.

How can I fix it so that the files are named as they were originally? I know how easily fix file names in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I have to "find" each image one by one and point correctly to the renamed version. I tried selecting all images, then using F2 rename, but none of the templates allows to remove a part of the file name. I know I can remove all the catalog and re-imported, but is there a simpler solution? Thank you.

Dilip

P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:

MAP:

IMG_0001.NEF

...

IMG_0300.NEF

WHAT I ACCIDENTALLY RENAMED:

IMG_0001 {photographed by John Doe}. NAVE

...

IMG_0300 {photographed by John Doe}. NAVE

You are probably not see because it is not stored in the catalog. My guess is that the files are renamed when importing are treated as if their original name is the one they rechristened themselves to.

Then you're probably out of luck and either settle for your new names, or you delete the files and the re - import.

Or... maybe... If the files are still all there, you might be able to select them all (sorted in the order in which they were shot) and use LR rename function to synthesize the original names, complete with added by the camera sequence numbers. If it works for you?

Ja.

  • Hi, I just upgraded from 6.1 to 6.4 LR LR. When importing new files LR6.4 cannot rename my files with a specific date format (import uses only the original name).

    Hello

    No problem with the LR 6.1, but now (LR6.4), it seems impossible to rename my files with a specific format (yyyy-dd-hhmmss and a suffix) importing memory cards. LR imports only files with names of origin. And I have a lot of files to rename...

    I hope that someone knows what's going on.

    Jean,

    We found a similar question which is being implemented. If you shoot images at once in the first and jpg format and then import them using the option of renaming, the question is in place.

    Could you please check if you use the option "make a second copy? If so, please it deselect. It should solve the problem.

    The issue is addressed in Lightroom.

  • Lightroom CC adds "-2" before the extension to the import file name with rename

    For some reason, my Nikon D7200 is producing filenames with a underscore ("_DSC0001.nef").  No problem.  What I'm trying to do is to rename the files during import.  I set up a model as follows:

    Rename.jpg

    Instead of getting 'HJRW_20150907_DSC0001 '. NAVE' I get 'HJRW_20150907_DSC0001-2. NAVE.

    I deleted the files from Lightroom and reimported as COPY or MOVE, and get the same thing.  How to remove the Lightroom file name suffix is added?

    Thank you

    -Herschel

    This occurs because a file already exists in your operating system with the same name in the destination folder.

  • LR3 - change of name of the import file problem

    I have a problem with renaming of files during import.

    Workaround for now is to rename not during the import, but in the library after the import. Strangely, rename in library works correctly.

  • Can I import words from the file name as keywords in the metadata when you import pictures?

    Hello

    My apologies if this question has already been asked. I can't find the answer: will / Lightroom can import words filename for my photos as keywords in the metadata when you import the photos from my hard drive? And if so, how can I do this?

    I'm new to Lightroom from iPhoto. After reading several articles on the transfer of photos from iPhoto, I exported some 7000 photos in an electronic file on my hard drive. I'm following the advice, sort and rename the photo files on my hard drive to be able to import them into Lightroom in an orderly fashion. It is not too difficult because iPhoto already for most changed the filenames for event names as ordered in iPhoto. I also prefer to do it manually rather than using any iPhoto / Aperture plugin because my iPhoto organization was far from perfect and I have already started to significantly improve by changing the file names.

    I'm renaming the files of images with additional information to improve the organisation even more with what would anyway keywords "DATE/NAME/NAME OF PERSON (S) IN THE EVENT PHOTO" so it would be good to not have enter these keywords in the metadata after import for each photo. It's automatic and if not is there a way to do this? All the other tips are welcome!

    Thank you

    Hi adiscerningeye,

    You can create metadata Preset and then apply this preset on import for images.

    Link partners: -.

    Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Shares of advanced metadata

    Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 * create and apply metadata presets

    Once you create a metadata preset, you must select it during import so it will be applied on all images when importing.

    You can also type a few words under key words, so it will work like keywords for this specific to import Images.

    Let us know if it helps.

  • Rename the name of the file without updating the metadata

    Hello

    I'm new to LR and would like to know if it is possible to rename the name of the file in LR 5 (after the import of images) without changing the name of the original file in the EXIF metadata? For example, the name of the original file is DSC_1234.NEF and I would like to rename it to "Hawaii_1234.NEF" in the catalog, as well as the name of the file on the HARD disk, but woud like to keep the original "DSC_1234.NEF" in the metadata.

    It seems that LR also renames file name in metadata if I read earlier rename after import (through the library - option Rename pictures) will not change the name of 'original' file in the metadata.

    Thank you.

    André.

    Hmm - confusing...

    I mean, Lr going to keep "DSC_1234.NEF" as the piece of metadata named "Original file name", after you rename the file "Hawaii_1234.NEF". The 'current' file name, in the metadata, will of course be the new file name (Hawaii_1234.NEF).

    Did you want something different?

  • How to rename the JAD file to eclipse MIDlet name

    Hi, expert,

    at the present time, our product team asks me to change the product name of the name of one to the other, I changed the title in the properties of the eclipse project and thought that's it. Cod file name was still the same as before.

    Then I discovered that I was wrong. The name options-> list of applications is still the old name. Then I change the COD file name (the name of the JAD file is also modified with it) and thought that I would be ok this time.

    I was denied again. The name on the download of air link always displays the old name and found out that the JAD stll MIDlet-name file has the old name and browser would use this name. Options-> application list, it still shows the old name. So I have to change the name of the MIDlet-name for the new name. However, I couldn't find a way. on the descriptor xml project, there is a tag called MainMIDletName, I changed to the new name:

    However it does not seem to help as well. After research, I found this link, but it does not say exactly how do without changing the name of the project that I really don't want to do:
    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Java-development/how-to-rename-JAD-in-JDE-Eclipse-without-ren...

    I have a few choice here? Any help would be appreicated.

    Hello

    To have the "MIDlet-Name" of the renowned JAD property, you will need to rename the project. Output file names can be changed via the BlackBerry_App_Descriptor.xml > Build (tab) > name of the output file (field).

    Kind regards

  • After you rename the computer, the backup of the file history still showing the old name of the computer to its destination.

    Original title: history of Falie Worng Destination path

    I changed my computer name [my computer setting and the name, display name, computer and computer Description all equal under the same name]. But when the history of files backing up my files, he insists on putting the OLD computer name in the backup destination path, for example:

    Backup_Drive\\Backup_Folder_A\UserID\Old_Computer_Name\Data...

    I tried selecting a new backup drive and reboot several times, but the history of files always comes back to the old name of the computer when you create the destination path.

    How can I fix?

    Similar to the response of Siva here, you will want to return to

    C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory

    Now, if FileHistory was lit before, using the old username, there will be a configuration file and the Config1.xml and Config2.xml files will contain several tags using the old name of PC. Rather than wipe these files, open each file in Notepad and search for the name of your old PC and replace with the name of the new, do not forget to save.

    In addition, if you want to keep a backup that has already been created with the old name of PC, you'll need to find, rename the main folder ("old name PC") and in this folder, rename tags in the Web configuration files (as you did in the local configuration files).

    When I tried to delete my local config files, he would recreate using files of configuration of the backup, that were also incorrect, so I just manually renamed and mine works fine now under the new name of PC.

  • Rename the file name background layer and move up

    I need a script that I can run at the end of an action to rename the name of the background layer and move it to the top of all the layers and hide visibility.

    That's what I want the layers of final document to look like, of course "filename" is the name of the file of the document itself. If I can change it to .jpg instead of a tif which would also be very useful.

    I use CC 2015 the more up-to-date version.

    Capture.JPG

    I found these scripts that are not exactly what I need, but close and I can't understand how to manipulate.

    Script layer moves

    Open, do, and rename the layer "Julieanne Kost's Blog

    Update: now, I think that this may be totally useless. Because of this, I wanted the original filename.jpg was so I could export the image as an asset later on the road. I just tried to create the image assets and found that it creates a folder for each file, so if someone can think of a better way, awesome.  I was able to create action and move all my layers of setting down instead of trying to move the layer of file name up and it worked, but because each file name is different I can't select and hide in my action. There is a solution simple but do not do exactly what I need.

    Thank you!

  • Importing files, .mxf c300 to Cloud Prime Minister, but imports cs6 correctly to the questions.

    I went to first cs6 cloud recently.  When I opened a project, I started in cs6 in first cloud I noticed that some files were not binding. When I tried to connect, I got a warning saying something on the timecode and who does not and would not bind again. When I tried to import the files into the project it is important only to the audio.  I went first cs6 and files import correctly. I wonder why cs6 reads these files and first cloud is not.  Does anyone else have this problem?

    I'm editing a movie and I have loads of film shot on the c300, I haven't the time to convert all the images, that's why I'm publishing on the Prime Minister, in order to modify the right to .mxf files. I had problems initially with premeri cs6 for example, but I bought a calibratedMXF software and it worked perfectly. I was able to import and edit the files, .mxf c300 perfectly. Now, I went and am having the same problem as before.  Please if anyone has any info, I know this topic been discussed to death but I can not find any thread with the answer to my problem, I'd be very happy any info. I work on a mac pro 2008 OSX 10.8.5.

    Thank you!

    I've updated the first Cloud v7.2.1 and its all connected and functioning normally!

  • From LR6.1 to LR6.3: rename folders created are based on the date of importation rather than the date of shooting!

    I started using LR with version 2... My import workflow was even up to 6.1 and all my files are organized in the same way for more than 10 years.

    I went on LR6.2 given the changes made in the import dialog. But upgraded to LR6.3 think the problem has been resolved.

    But now I noticed that all my photos are renamed and placed in folders corresponding to the date of importation rather than the date of shooting... I rename my files from custom and is gone in this dialogue, but has not as how to restore LR import my photos using the date of shooting. This creates havoc on my hard drives and in LR. I use the date of shooting a lot to find my photos, since I often neglect to add keywords.

    I really need to be able to get the date of shooting on the behalf of my photos and have copied them in the folder the correct date.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    BTW: something has changed in the way the forum appears. Research is not very powerful... it has not brought something, yet I know that the import dialog has been at length when 6.2 was introduced. In addition, I see no browser passed a few more recent messages. I don't like the new interface.

    Well, I answered my own question. Yes, I was looking for settings in the destination Panel... There is a line that shows what would change the name... and it showed the date of importation as the new name... but actually... It was only to show you what the name change would look like. Because I had a selected image, I thought it would show that the change of name for this image. But it is not related to the image... The import worked as expected... My apologies for disturbing him. .

  • Rename the layer by using the name of the supplied object

    I'm trying to draw a map of the world that includes the provinces and provinces (counties).  I'll be it animation in AE. AE sees that the upper layers is essential which is the name of the top layer of the correct province. All provinces are unfortunately not layers. They are objects. I can use the "Release to layers" command to get all items nested in layers of high level. But the layers of high level generic names (Layer 1, Layer2, Layer 3). Objects nested within these layers have the correct name.

    Y at - it a script that will rename the top-level layer using the name given to the object nested within this layer? If this isn't the case, could sombody would be willing to help create a.

    Here is a link to one of the files: world_all_provinces_Senegal divisions. Level 1_area.zip

    Opps, I'm too slow.

    I could not open your file to test it, but during a quick test, it seems to work also.

    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var n, p;
    for (var i = 0, l = doc.pageItems.length; i < l; i++) {
        p = doc.pageItems[i];
        n = p.name;
        p.parent.name = n;
    }

    But again maybe it is specific (not tested with your file or other) and so will not work in your case or other. Worth I guess that if.
