  • CPU Oracle patch process for Oracle shared houses-Stand alone case

    Hello-

I have a scenario where I apply CPU/Security Patch [CPUOCT2013] on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 on Linux. I have 3 databases SID1, SID2 & SID3 all sharing the same $ORACLE_HOME and contain the init and spfiles files in the same directory of $ORACLE_HOME/dbs and other. Now, I need to apply the patch on a SINGLE instance of SID1 (for which I have approval for the stopping of the DB, which is a requirement for the processor). What is the method to be applied to the single SID and not others? I know that we apply patch to ORACLE_HOME, so I am confused, that way I can move forward. Please respond with your expertise and experience.

    Thank you

Your process sounds good to me - the best way to check is to do this in a test environment that is closest (if not identical) to the production as possible. You will also need to update file/etc/oratab as necessary to reflect the new OH

The environment variables that I refer above are at the OS level, not in the init.ora. See Oracle database administration. If there are any values in the init.ora that point to the old OH (I can't think at all), who will have to be changed too.

  • CPU 2013 patch for 11.2.0.3

    Dear team,
I intend to update patch jan2013 CPU. I can't able to find the patch not. Please suggest me which should apply.

    Database:-11.2.0.3
    Game patch: 11.2.0.7

Central units have been renamed to SPU (updated Security Patch). In general, you should apply the patches of PSU since they contain not only the SPUs, but also other patches. PL note that when you apply a power supply, you must continue to apply power supplies - you cannot switch between the PSU and CPU/SPUs application.

The main page of Jan 2013 is at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/cpujan2013-1515902.html

  • Oracle10g CPU patch

Hello, I need some more explanations on cpu oracle patch.

Here are the DB that I use...

    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
AMT for Solaris: release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

It seems that they ask Oracle cpu this DB. What is CPU patch? What is the purpose of the CPU patch? I googled and not very clear. Any help is appreciated.

CPU stands for Critical Patch Update.

  • Power supply for 11.2.0.1 patch

    Hello

We have a database of 11.2.0.1

Our auditor TI has forced us to be always updated for the current PSU.

I checked the PSU for 11.2.0.1 and I was released last last JUL 2011.

Does this mean that we must stop here?

    Thank you

    Petra-K

    Hello

A set of hotfix update is a minor release so will not involve the upgrade to 11.2.0.3 or 11.2.0.4.  Once you have the last applied PSU, you can tell listeners that you do not have the last power supply.

    See the article by MOS

List of reference Documents updated fixed (PSU) Critical Patch Update Availability (CPU) and Patch for Oracle Database and Fusion Middleware product (Doc ID 783141.1)

As stated earlier the July 2011 PSU is the final version for 11.2.0.1 is the last of them, you can apply without upgrading to a newer version.

If you can upgrade to 11.2.0.3 or 11.2.0.4 clearly well worth doing - the implications of certification of your application are likely to be minimal, but of course he need permission from your application developers and it will test.

The above document keeps track of the latest patch for all versions.

  • Application of WebLogic Server patches - cannot locate the specified product directory

We strive to apply the CPU October patch our installation of WebLogic 10.3.6 on Windows Server 2003.  However, when we run the below command:

    BSU-install - patch_download_dir = E:\ofm11g\utils\bsu\cache_dir - patchlist = BYJ1-prod_dir=E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3

    We receive this error:

Could not locate the specified product directory. [E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3]

This directory is valid.  We organize two instances using this installation of WLS - Oracle reports 11.1.1.6 and Oracle Portal 11.1.1.6.  We strive to apply the patch with the same user who installed the software.

I was able to run this command on another server that is running Oracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.6.

    Any ideas?

I managed to solve this problem by ensuring that l'E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3 contains two files:. Home and. product.properties. after I copied from another server and amended to adapt to my environment, I was able to install this patch.

  • need advice on PSU 11.2.0.2 patch version db

    We have oracle database specifications:

    DB version: 11.2.0.2
    OS: Redhat Linux 5

Our management wants us to apply the latest patches of power supply.

I think 11.2.0.2 is the latest version of 11.2, and I have the patch to upgrade to 11.2.0.3 then apply latest patch PSU.

I am here? The steps and procedures I should follow?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes 11.2.0.3 is the latest version - 11.2.0.3 go 11.2.0.2 is an upgrade, not a patch.

You will need to install 11.2.0.3 in another ORACLE_HOME, apply the latest patch of power supply to the 11.2.0.3 HOME (see this Doc MOS - quick reference to Patch numbers for power SUPPLY of database, SPU (CPU), Bundle Patches and Patchsets [1454618.1 ID]), then follow the steps in the upgrade doc

  • 3rd party database patch...

DBA - say take you over a field of companies, perhaps 60 large databases Oracle Oracle database. Some of these databases relate to put information 3rd party systems developed by a 3rd party. Oracle version say 5 new security fixes for patch known vulnerabilities in a specific version of Oracle. This 3rd party said "we do only support the application when it runs on a set of specific patch", that presumably is a patch level / game they know their application works well on. During a test on a new version of Oracle and the app is to go well, they will then install the patches.

Enter your 3rd pen testers part, use their vulnerability scanner and a large RED finding arrives telling them to report 'x missing patches on this oracle database '. Accept your accounts by someone to install these patches can cause performance problems in the functioning of the application? Is it acceptable to have a vulnerable system in your environment? The fact that the database is internal behind the defensive perimeter a saving grace, it's what happens if non-patched vulnerability could be exploited by the public face frontal of apps. I've never seen much audits/pen tests saying "simply apply the security patch where you can, and it will not affect the availability/functioning of the application", "his patch as soon as possible or you have a vulnerable system", with little room for this sort of thing.

What is your point of view? Any middle ground that will satisfy your security manager or security auditors / or practical work around?

Group of patches are really less frequent, probably every 18 months (but I did not measure it).
Patches are released quarterly: CPU => Critical Patch Update and PSU-online Patch Update are similar. But the power supply includes the CPU of the current quarter and some measures specific patches (in this topic a power supply is a little bigger than CPU), while the CPU was critical fix.
    All are the related database.

    Nicolas.

  • Update 10.1.0.4 to the latest version of the patch

I currently have 10.1.0.4 database installed on 32-bit Microsoft Server 2003. I want to improve it to the latest version on 10.2. Where would I want to download this version?
I have access to My Oracle Support. I tried searching on "Patches and updates", but it is not easy.
I am looking for the product title: Oracle database. Release date: Oracle 10.2.0.4. Platform: Microsoft Windows Server 2003. And get a grid with many lines, but no one is on Download Upgrade Oracle 10.2.0.4
Where would I want to download this version? Could someone provide me please just a link?
    Thank you

    Welcome to the forums!

You will need to download 10.2.0.1 http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html (in English). Then install this software in an another ORACLE_HOME. Then find the 10.2.0.4 patch in MOS (see MOS 555579.1 Doc - 10.2.0.4 Patch Set - availability and known problems), download it and apply it to the new 10.2.0.1 ORACLE_HOME upgrade to 10.2.0.4. You will also need to apply CPU patches identified in http://www.oracle.com/technology/deploy/security/critical-patch-updates/cpujan2010.html. You can expect when the latest CPU April patches will be released next week.

Pl follow the upgrade guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14238/toc.htm) to perform the upgrade of database real - my preference is to use the upgrade of DB (dbua) Wizard.

I also recommend you read through MOS Doc 466181.1 (10 g companion Upgrade) before you begin the upgrade process.

  • should we run catbundle.sql after creation of DB?

Hello, I have installed oracle 11.1.0.7 and installed the patch (10249534) CPU 2011.

I intend to create the database after a few weeks. So after you have created the database, should I run the scripts below?
Given that this is part of remedial education.

    * 3.2.2.1 loading modified the SQL files in the database *.
The steps following loading changed files SQL in the database. For a CCR environment, perform these steps on one node.

For each instance of database running on the Oracle home being patched, to connect to the database using SQL 'More'. Connect as SYSDBA and run the script catbundle.sql as follows: *.

    CD $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    sqlplus/nolog
SQL > CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL > STARTUP
    SQL > @catbundle.sql cpu apply
    SQL > QUIT
Execution of catbundle.sql is reflected in the sight of dba_registry_history by a related line of series CPU bundle.

    Hello!

You must run the catbundle.sql only for databases created before the application of the CPU.
If you create a new database after the application of the CPU on the ORACLE_HOME, you don't need the script to run catbundle on it.

This morning, after logging in as usual my screen suddenly and without warning everything went very dark, I was able (when shines a torch and strabismus) see what I had opened earlier, however cannot see the cursor or read anything, so I have Fn F4 hibernated, the Hibernate Windows message came and then I open all re and everything was fine , but it continues to be now, so I think it's a very specific hardware problem or a software problem, I have checked so far that all parameters only operate at 60 Mhz, which did not fix the problem

I can't find the switch near the cover so I have no hind that is twisted ~ if it exists

I can't afford a laptop replacement and require to work, collages and games (opened and repaired this laptop several times replaced MO/BO twice and switched CPU + heatsink) patches or diagnosis would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

    Hi again, Rockmantis

I don't think so. The inverter is the piece of hardware that controls what is displayed on the screen. If it was bad, then there will be nothing on the screen, even with the bright light directly on it. But the backlight is what makes the visible image by turning it upwards. With this bad, it can sometimes work, and then sometimes not, as is current for you.

    Best,

    Adam
