Oracle10g CPU patch

Hello, I need some more explanations on cpu oracle patch.

Here are the DB that I use...

Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
AMT for Solaris: release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

It seems that they ask Oracle cpu this DB. What is CPU patch? What is the purpose of the CPU patch? I googled and not very clear. Any help is appreciated.

CPU stands for Critical Patch Update.

    Hello

I'm trying to patch up our short installation for the latest CPU patches but have encountered a problem with the server of the Integrator (clover).

I have a pane of enrichment of text that worked very well, but after the application of the patch 21131619 (we run on Weblogic 10.3.6 so just deploy the new file clover.war and bouncing Weblogic) I get this error:

2016-02-01 14:03:36, ERROR 794 43526 [hen-6-thread-1] cannot get the salience of factory object

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

If I fire the old clover.war the graph file works fine again without changing the any environment.

Anyone have text enrichment work and apply this fix? There is nothing in the readme file to suggest that I need a more recent/different version of salience (currently using 5.1.1.7349).

    Thank you
    Robin

I raised this as a SR, and it seems to be caused by an incompatibility of versions.

To get the functionality to work yet once I was advised to apply the last server Integrator 22365219 patch that includes a new version of salience.

Please see the documentation referenced in (versions of Oracle E-Business Suite 11i and 12 Critical Patch Update knowledge Document (October 2010) [ID 987438.1]), as "table 1: information on patches to apply to Oracle E-Business Suite Oracle database home" for the CPU patches 10.2.0.3. If all are already being applied, then there no other patches must be installed.

  • Query regarding CPU patches

    Hello

According to my understanding CPU patches are released every quarter for each version & the realease of oracle database.

    I use Oracle 10.2.0.3 on IBM - AIX 5.3 (64-bit).

I checked the link to metalink below.

Patches and updates-> Oracle Server/tools-> last Patchsets-> latest version of the Oracle/tools Patchsets-> server then selected oracle database and OS version-> Patch Type selected as all-> ranking selected under high security-> Go

But the above gives me a list of CPU patches!

So it is not mandatory that each and every six months we will have a new patch oracle CPU? Or I make a mistake in the selection above?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Need information about the CPU patches

    Hello

Could someone please explain me what CPU patches are. This is a security patch?
Is it mandatory to apply these patches every quarter. And if we apply, will there be a performance related issues?

    Thank you!

The quarterly patch all CPU Oracle application is optional. If your test needs are too high to apply multiple patches per year impractical, then you might just apply each other or even games patch by year. CPU patches are cumulative, so if you apply the most recent you all previous patches.

The above offers you don't need a specific patch provided by one of your patch. You last version Oracle and when you plan to upgrade can also be a deciding factor if needed/wanted to apply a specific processor.

  • CPU patches

    Hi all

We have never applied any of the CPU patches to our system, currently we are on 11.5.10.2.
Leave what year, I need to start applying patches, please advice...
and also if we improve to R12, did all the patches of CPU of 2005 included in the Group of hotfixes R12?

    Thanks in advance...

    Kind regards
    Madhav

I would open an SR and get advice from the Oracle - if you have been working since 2005 with no CPU patch, there are a ton of them, many were replaced, etc and it will be a long process of research each patch, if it has prerequisites, been replaced, etc.. From this year they are cumulative, but you would still need to patch yourself until end of 2010 before starting on the update rollups.

Also to ask them upgrading 12 with regard to the processors.

  • Analysis of CPU Patch 2009

    Gurus,

I am new to analysts of patch R12 CPU, I need some advice,

I want to know how to find versions in R12,

    1. oracle HTTP Server version.

Oracle HTTP Server for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 patches

Table 2 lists the patches for Oracle HTTP Server. Oracle HTTP Server patches are cumulative; that is, patches Critical Patch Update contains all the previous content of CPU. If so, customers need to apply the following CPU patches to OracleAS 10.1.2 both OracleAS 10.1.3 Oracle Homes.

Mean that I want to apply fixes to Oracle HTTP server Oracle time 10.1.2 and 10.1.3...

    2 oracle Developer Suite(forms,reports)

    Thank you.

    3.

In 11i we can find. . / httpd-version, but in R12 how to find Oracle HTTP server version and versions of developer applications (forms, reports).

    Oracle HTTP Server:

    UNIX: $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/httpd - version
    Windows: %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache\apache.exe-version

    Developer Oracle:

    UNIX: frmcmp_batch.sh
    Windows: frmcmp.exe

Or get it from the application (help > about Oracle Applications).

How to apply the patches in oracle's two homes.

    10.1.3--> application Server 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME Java (OC4J, Apache).
10.1.2--> Developer of applications server 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME (forms, reports).

Always follow the procedure described in the README of Patch file to apply the patch (you will mainly use opatch).

  • CPU patch vs PSU in R12

    Hello:

Asked me to apply patch PSU April 2014. I just applied CPU January 2014. I thought that we can apply only CPU or power supply. Can I apply PSU?

We have 12.1.3, 11.2.0.3 on Linux.

    Thank you for the clarification

The difference between the CPU and PSU plots has been discussed many times in the forum before, please see the previous discussions for more details.

  • CPU patch for 10.2.0.1 on HP - UX

This database 10g and HPUX installed and running for 2 years and never had patched.

Now what is the starting point for me to watch to start the quarterly patch of CPU?

I understand that it needs to update rollups for cpu. But if someone can give me a complete list of what I'm supposed to look like and research, I would be very grateful for their help.

    Simple:
    1. put your Oracle 10 g on 10.2.0.4 course level or more
2 install the new patch and it's cumulative, - you don't need an earlier version of the CPU or POWER supply.

  • CPU patch on a standby

The README file for 7375639, Critical Patch Update Note, version 11.1.0.6 for UNIX, released the: 14 October 2008 said in the Installation Instructions to post to:

    CD $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    sqlplus/nolog
SQL > CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL > STARTUP
    SQL > @catbundle.sql cpu apply
    SQL > QUIT

What do you do with this on a physical standby? The general idea of NOTE: 187242.1 still apply? I see no mention of this in the readme file.

You can still follow this traditional way OR you do an Upgrade to roll as described here:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/rollup.htm#CHDHCBGA

This minimizes the downtime in high availability environments, but requires a few additional steps (including a temporary transformation to a logical expectation).
