PERC 5 - no Configuration is present! Foreign import can damage the hard disk data ("this is an irreversible process)?

Our 2950 has humming well when...

Physical disk 0 change LED color from green to flashing orange.

Configuring Raid 0 has 2 two identical disks combined into a VD.

To troubleshoot an amber blink, we re sitting readers and even swapped their location, ultimately restore their substantive positions of basket in their original locations.

Suddenly, amber LED changed to green new!

However, the server is unbootable-"zero or logical drives found".

Reports PERC 'no present Configuration!' in the config of VD but also two reports 2 error free readers in the config of PD.  He also pointed out a 1 DG and VD (1) and (2) PD in config stranger (contrary to what config VD reports - "no present Configuration."

Ubuntu in rescue (booted from the CD) mode does not see two physical disks.

What should we do?

Thanks in advance - this server hosts the web services of a not-for-profit organization.

Excuse the rawness, but you need to know about the functioning of the RAID and this server before trying anything. There are many places in which he could definitely bad (I'm not saying that isn't already).

Start the utility CTRL-R, VD MGMT screen, highlight the controller, F2, foreign Import.

If she fails to import, go to the CTRL MGMT screen and give me the version of the firmware of the lot.

Next time, call Dell technical support or ask a question here to help them know what to do and how to solve it.

  • Initial configuration of RAID HP ENVY accidentally erased, deleted hard disk?

I was trying to see if I could find an option to change the my new laptop on AHCI SATA controller, but I should have checked more thoroughly online before trying something new in the BIOS.  It seems that these laptops are automatically in AHCI?

My laptop had a 1 TB SSHD and a 24GB flash hard drive Cache acceleration configured in RAID 0.  With my minimal knowledge of the AHCI, RAID and IDE, I thought that the withdrawal of the RAID configuration would give me a possibility to change the hard drive in AHCI controller.  Without thinking, I "removed" the RAID volume, and I think I have completely erase my new hard drive and the operating system, including the recovery partition.

When I start up the laptop, I get the error "boot device not found 3f0", and f11 does not work to try to get into the recovery mode.  The hard drive test always passes the two elements.  I ordered at HP USB recovery media earlier, but I don't know if there is anything else I can do?

I don't know exactly how the acceleration of the Disk Cache, but my main question is why only SSHD would be setup in RAID 0 factory mode, and if there is a good reason, how do I put up again after the reinstallation of the OS from the USB media?

After screwing my OS, I played in the BIOS to re - setup the RAID0, but I don't know that I've got it right.  I myself remember the size of the band was set to 128 KB, but I have no idea what was the "Capacity (MB)", or should I put it when I create new RAID?

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi, Popo:

I didn't get the rush of shipped recovery media.

When you order by regular mail, it may take up to 10 days, so unless you're bored to death, so I would just wait until your recovery media is coming tomorrow.

Yes, you are right.  The file I gave you is a simple vanilla W8 version and there are no programs whatsoever other than that which accompanies the W8.

The product key in the BIOS of your PC will work with this file and you get the recovery media.

You can always want to DL this file and make a bootable DVD just as it is for future use.

After installing W8, you get the upgrade to W8.1 against the Windows store.

It may take a few hours to appear as a sort of update should run before updating the W8.1 appears in the Windows store.

You won't have to look for.

It will be displayed when you click the windows store.

You will be able to switch to W8.1 with the regular ISO W8 file, or your installation HP factory.

  • Photos app: Import Photos from the hard drive

    Hello

I have a number too many photos on my hard disk, divided into several folders (albums).
When I try the import option, from the Photos App it shows me all the photos (3000) on my hard drive and I have to choose each picture to import.
It is a simple and hassle-free way to achieve by choosing just one folder to import?
    Any help much appreciated.

raghavendralr, once you have your photos on your computer Windows 8 files, you will need to include the folder where you have your photos in the photo library so that the Photos app to see.  Then you should be able to use the Photos app to browse your photos.

To add a folder to your photo library, right click on the folder in the desktop browser, select "Include in the library" - "Images".  More details: in Office Explorer (to open it, press Win - E), expand the node for the computer in the left pane and continue to expand folders until you see the folder that contains your photos.  In the left pane, right click on the folder icon and select from the contextual pop-up menu "Include in the library" - "Images".

Return of the Photos app, click the thumbnail of the picture library on the home page, you should see the contents of your folder newly added shortly.

Alternatively you can copy/move your files in your existing images folder which is by default already in your photo library.  In the left pane of the Explorer desktop, expand libraries - images to see what files are in your photo library already.

    Hope that helps.

  • Installer Linux b1165nfw modify important files, damage the system

    Hello friends and Dell!

First of all, thanks for the offer of linux drivers, it's really appreciated, and I would not have gotten this camera if they were not available.

However, the installer of linux for pilots makes a few very strange changes of important system files, which made my computer unusable, far as I can tell to be a mistake, then I sincerely hope that one of your representatives may send this message to the one who is responsible.

Specifically, after the download of the driver here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/dell-b1165nfw , I ran the autorun program, and of course, I had to give him Admin privileges and clicked with success by. He changed the owner of the folder/usr 8070:9999 (where it should be root: root), and which is a very important issue, beat many other programs (such as virtualbox). There were several other cases that have this permission changed: / usr/lib and a few files lib on this issue which I do not remember the name (something like libtty).  He also created a vacuum/Desktop folder to the root! If something very strange is happening with the program.

Please have them take a look at this, because according to the skill level of the user, it can wreak havoc on their system. In my attempts to fix it, I made a typo and ended up having to do a complete reinstallation of my system! I was running Ubuntu 12.04, and then I installed 14.04, revived the program, because I had nothing to lose and found the same behavior. I know I'm not the only one, here's at least someone else having the same problem:

    http://wyldeplayground.NET/usr-folder-permissions-being-changed-to-8070-9999-breaking-VirtualBox/

Hope to hear from someone soon!

    Dan

This is what worked for me to get the ability to print in Ubuntu 14.04. These aren't the most extensive instructions, I'm tired, so I apologize. I hope this will help you get started, please keep in mind that I am no expert so follow at your own risk. This assumes that you have already installed cups (it comes pre-installed with most distributions).

Includes the following: download the Unified Driver Dell, moving some files and adding the printer via application printers of Ubuntu.

    1. download the universal driver of Dell on the link in my first post and unzip the files (in Ubuntu, you could double-click on and click on extract), which should give you a folder named cdroot, I will refer to this folder across.

DO NOT run the installation script. As mentioned above, it's disastrous things, and judging by the response of Dell to this post (none), they are able to send email to a person who cares little interest.

    2. I had started going to the printers Ubuntu app, and he told me that it won't work without 'rastertospl' being installed. If you have a 32-bit installation, this file is located in cdroot/Linux/x86_64 if you have a 64-bit installation and cdroot/Linux/i386. You need to copy in/usr/lib/cups/filter and make sure it is executable, and sudo privileges are required to do. Claiming that you have extracted the Dell installation package to your desktop, orders of the terminal would be these for a 64-bit system:

    sudo cp ~/Desktop/cdroot/Linux/x86_64/rastertospl/usr/lib/cups/filter

(Check if it is already executable, then tell - rwxr-xr-x to the left after you run the following command. Note the s in 'x'):

    ls-l/usr/lib/cups/filter | grep rastertospl

If there are not three x as described above, run this:

    sudo chmod + x/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertospl

After you run the program rastertospl (thanks to Olivier at the second link below for the tip), the program shows that we need the libscmssc.so library. He finds himself cdroot/Linux/x86_64 or cdroot/Linux/i386. To copy in the file/usr/lib and again make sure it is executable:

    sudo cp ~/Desktop/cdroot/Linux/x86_64/libscmss.so/usr/lib
    (if needed :))
    sudo chmod + x /usr/lib/libscmss.so

    3. I went to app printers of Ubuntu in the settings (System settings > printers) and click Add.

(I had already configured the printer on my network, so I was able to search for and select, if all goes well it shows for you.) When the drivers could not be found for the printer (do not take the generic, it won't work), it gives you an option to add a PPD file. The b1165nfw.ppd file is in cdroot/Linux/noarch/at_opt/share/PPD. I sailed from the app to printers.

After that, the impression has worked for me. It does not scan. Who will have to wait another day.

Dell, up to present very little thanks to you. This will probably be the last piece of Dell hardware, I buy. • How and where should I go to find out how to configure my joystick so I can use the joystick to use the flight simulation game that I bought from microsoft?

I can't find out how to configure my joy (attack3) stick to play Flight Simulator. I don't want to use the keyboard on my computer to steal the game... Where can I find the instructions on how to configure and use the joystick?

    Hello

    1. what happens when you connect the joy stick?

    2. do you get an error message?

    3. what version of Windows are you using?

Perform the steps mentioned below and check if that helps:

    Step 1:

Flight Simulator x: using a gamepad

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=16624

    Step 2:
Usually, vista Windows 7 will find and automatically install the necessary drivers when you plug your game controller into your computer.

    (a) connect the joystick to the USB port via the adapter.

    (b) see if it is detected.

    (c) Windows should recognize the new hardware and set in place to work properly.

If this isn't the case, install the relevant drivers for gamepad for the manufacturers Web site.

    Step 3:

I suggest the following steps and check for the device.

    1. in Control Panel, open game controllers. To do this, use one of the following methods:

    a. click Start, typejoy.cpl in the Search box and press ENTER.

    2. click on your game controller, and then click Properties.

    3. on the Test tab, test the game controller to verify functionality.

I do not have this type of recovery before, so I want to just a few tips how to start.

Is it fair to boot from the CD and go through the process? what the current operating system, I installed on my PC Win 7 pro I got it free from the College last year and installed instead of Home premium.

is it need to format the c before that player?

    Hello

    I know what you mean

As you say, with a retail installation disc, you can choose exactly where you want to install the OS and leave the other partitions affected, unfortunately with recovery disks you do not have this option.

  • How to compare, present value: block.text_item with the value of data

    Hello
    Could you please tell me
How to compare the current value: block.text_item with the corresponding database column value.
    I use form 10g

It has block and there is a text element in this block.
When I run the form and query the block (in a table), the: block.text_item show me any value it in the database.
Now I add value in the: block.text_item to the existing value.

    now
the: block.text_item contains the old + new added value
    While
the database table contains the value 'old '.

Now, with a click of button, I want to know what value I added

Please can you me, is it possible without writing a select query?

    Hello

Now, with a click of button, I want to know what value I added

So you're saying always user will bring added value to the existing value. Because it will fail in a case. Let's say that
    Database value is = ABCD
The user opens the form and he took the D and write E and now value is ABCE and length is always the same 4. There is therefore no need to add.

In any case, you can know that the value of database at run time, there is a property for the element called DATABASE_VALUE. She gives the value that is in the database while you run the form before save. and you can use it like that...

Trigger = WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLE-CLICK on item level
    DECLARE
vItemValue DATATYPE; -- Set the data type according to your desired field.
vValueAdded DATATYPE; -- Set the data type according to your desired field.
    BEGIN
vItemValue:=GET_ITEM_PROPERTY('ITEM_NAME',DATABASE_VALUE); -- It will return you the database value in vItemValue variable.
IF LENGTH(vItemValue)>LENGTH(:FORM_ITEM_NAME) THEN -- It mean something change or added
        vValueAdded:=SUBSTR(:FORM_ITEM_NAME,LENGTH(vItemValue)+1);
MESSAGE('Added value is : '||vValueAdded); -- It will show you the added value.
      END IF;
-- now suppose you want to show the old and new value in message not the added one
-- Then no need of IF condition. You can just use message like this
-- And i would prefer to use like this way
      MESSAGE('Old Value : '||vItemValue||'  New Value - '||:FORM_ITEM_NAME);
      MESSAGE('Old Value : '||vItemValue||'  New Value - '||:FORM_ITEM_NAME);
    END;

    Hope that's clear.

  • How to erase the hard drive, foreign State in T630 with H730 PERC controller

I recently bought a Poweredge T630 Server computer configured with a PERC H730 controller and two 1 TB SATA (raid 1) drives.

The controller H730 being compatible with no dell certified readers, I bought 2 WD red label records to add more storage space.  The problem I have is it H730 one of the 2 WD drives senses as a 'foreign' drive  Under "available tasks", I see only two options, "Blink" and "Unblink.  Unlike other HDD WD, the controller does not allow me even an option to convert the capable RAID drive.  This only happens to one of the two WD drives. The WD with 'Foreign State' drive is not defective or damaged.  How can I clear the foreign flag on one of the two WD drives so that I can convert the two disks in RAID ready status.

    Hello

You have a foreigners view tab when you are in the bios H730? If you do, you should be able to use ctrl + N to access this screen, select the controller, press F2 and go to foreign config and have the ability to clear the foreign configuration.

No matter which option I choose, IE. safe mode, safe mood with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known, good configuration start windows normally, it always comes back to the same screen. saw this post before and the invloved boot cd solution. I have not a cd ROM is there another way to solve this problem. Thank you people

Thank you for taking the time to make this post very informative, excellent. Without the machine test myself that I can't be sure, but based on the age of the computer and what you wrote I suspect for lack of material. It could be something simple like the hard drive or RAM or something more serious like the motherboard. I wouldn't recommend replacing any material on such an old laptop.

As long as the hard disk has been physically, you can recover your data easily. If the hard drive has failed, then you will need to send the drive to a professional drive savers data recovery company. It is quite expensive ($500-3700), but they can usually recover your data. Some insurance policies cover also, professional data recovery in order to check with yours. But let's be optimistic. ;-)

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company.

I'll give you the information on how to test the hard drive to see if it's good physically and how to recover data when you can't in Windows but in doing these things requires a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself the best and that it would be better to take the laptop to a competent local professional. If you do this, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Get recommendations from family, friends and colleagues.

    A. test equipment

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. You will probably need to change the boot order. Your Dell can give you a temporary boot menu if you press F12 as the computer starts. If so, use your arrow key to select the CD drive. Otherwise, press F2 to enter in Setup (BIOS) and change the order of boot on the CD drive first. If the disk fails all physical tests, it must be replaced. Although readers of the laptop cost around $60, you should really consider if it is to put money in such an old machine. You can replace the disk, but the laptop is definitely at the end of its normal life and something else is doomed to failure.

There is information about the RAM test and other materials here:

    B. retrieve data detach a healthy disk when you are unable to Windows

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB stick with a capacity to hold your data OR an external USB hard disk formatted FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.
