CPU usuage

Greetings,

Recently, I reformatted my hard drive, reloaded all my files, folders and programs, just as I had them before.  Computer was working fine until I noticed that my wireless mouse would stop working.  Shortly after I started to experience a very slow reaction to programs and internet connections.  I open msconfig and found that all processes are running.  Most of them got off and I restarted.  After windows, shut down the computer only has not extinguished as usual, I had to maunally turn off with the switch.  After the reboot, everything seemed fine until Setup has stopped working again.  That's when I noticed that the CPU usage went from 100% the system to 100% system idle process.  All my start up programs are if I put them.  I had Norton antivirus scan, an and a Lavasoft Adware scan with nothing more than a few found cookies.  Help, please...

Start with the selective startup.  I would allow all the toolbars.  I start with the bare minimum and add one thing at a time until you find the program or the offending application.

  • Just openning LabVIEW and causing 99% CPU usuage

    Hi people,

I just opened LabVIEW 8.2.1 and later, he finishes its initialization, while on the start-up screen LabVIEW uses 99% of CPU.

I tried to restart and repair the installation, but nothing helped. Someone has experienced this problem?

    Thanks in advance!

One thing to try: start in safe mode. I think that LabVIEW should always run in safe mode, although no service will operate. I would be very interested to know if the CPU usage is still attached.

  • My CPU usuage is going 100%

OK, I recently problems with m.

Before my PC used to run smooth, I used to run more than 3-4 programs at the same time. But recently my PC is really slow. Whenever I m using Skype (voice chat) my CPU usage is at 100%, I used to play online and talk on Skype together now is not possible at all. Also, as when I use internet and listen to music my CPU usage is about 70%, which is high! Same thing happens when I watch videos HD, the videos of lag. This happens on youtube, as I can only watch videos of 240 p smoothly. Others do not work smoothly. Usually, when I m not running too many programs my PC is smooth. Also games, games, I used to play before went smoothly today then do not work much more.

I did my utmost to correct this cleaned up my hard drive, remove all unwanted programs, even cleaned up the dust inside my CPU. And no I do not use anti-virus programs but I hvnt noticed any viruses, just to b problem I installed an and analysed as well but he did not find any virus and yes the anti-virus is up to date, it was the AVG anti-virus don't know how good it is. Also on the internet, I found abt this contraption "msconfig" and a little confused when I run tht so did nothing yet.

Well, I hope that I have explained the problem well, usually when I do not have anything in the CPU usage is fine as now since I m typing use atm CPU is normal. Hope someone can help me find a solution. :)

It is prudent to perform at least an analysis of filling with something like Malwarebytes and Superantispyware to make an effort to remove common malware and only when they perform own start to look for other things.

Assuming you have done this, we learn more about your system (since we don't know anything about).

As you describe the problem is visible when you CPU and video intensive things such as watching videos, games online, Skype, we will need to know your video subsystem too.

Since you seem to be able to recreate the problem, if you make an adjustment and your test condition begins to behave, you will know that you are looking in the right places.

First of all, you have work to do...

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

What is your Internet browser and version?

Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Now provide some gory details more:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here.

For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

If you have IDE disks, they can back a sort of DMA mode to PIO mode slow, so you must check that too.  Here's how:

If you are using IDE drives, use Device Manager to make sure the transfer mode for the IDE channels to something as DMA if available (depends on your hardware) and the slow PIO mode.

Don't forget: PIO is slower transfer mode, DMA is the fastest transfer mode.

It is easy to check and usually easy to fix and the mode would not have changed in itself, so if she changed to PIO, change it to DMA, and then understand why it changed and fix it.

To launch the Device Manager console, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    devmgmt.msc

    Click OK.

Expand the section controller IDE / ATA to see your IDE channels. Right-click on each channel and select properties for each channel that has a tab advanced settings, determine the Transfer Mode. There are usually 4 channels to check in a desktop computer, maybe less for laptops.

The faster the Transfer Mode selection will be a kind of selection DMA (usually: DMA DMA5, UDMA, etc.).  If it is PIO, change it to DMA.  Be sure to click on OK to save the settings.

If you are unsure of what you see, after return what you see for help and advice.

If you make adjustments, reboot and go back and check the settings again to make sure that any changes you did stick.

Finally, instead of guess what you might have to startup items and what you might be able to do without, it's easy for you to simply provide a list of your startup items and then get a few recommendations of things that you can do without that, to do this:

    Download CCleaner here:
    http://www.Piriform.com/CCleaner

CCleaner allows you to manage most of the startup items and also do some other operations oriented cleaning.  Some people will you recommend is not to use the registry functions in CCleaner to avoid these features for now.  I have no problem with it for me, but sometimes it's a contentious issue, I prefer to avoid as much as possible!

You can uninstall CCleaner later if you don't like it.

With CCleaner, you can disable the startup items, reboot to see what things look like and if you want - completely remove unnecessary or just startup items leave the disabled while you continue troubleshooting.

Run CCleaner and choose Tools, boot and bottom right, click on the button "Save to text file" to save the startup information in a text - something like startup.txt file

Save the boot information text file on your desktop (or somewhere you can find it) open the text file with an editor (Notepad or WordPad), select all (Ctrl-A), copy text, all the text selected in the Windows Clipboard (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the startup list to come back here in your next reply and maybe someone can tell you other things to consider.

Finally and most importantly, you must be sure that your provider of Internet Service (ISP) provides the Internet download speed you pay for what you can test it by visiting this site:

    www.Speedtest.NET

Wait that it load and click on begin Test.

When it finishes, you will know that your download speed and your download speed so tell us what they are:

    Download speed: _
    Download speed: _

If you pay 10 Mbps and you get only 2, while you pay more than you are getting (you are getting ripped off), so you scream at your ISP and request that they help you fix it if you get what you pay for.

My CPU is housed at 30% all the time because of SVCHOST constantly running. There are multiple instances (usually 2 or 3) to operate and my CPU usuage never less than 30%. I watched until it SVCHOST is intended and have decided that I should not stop anything that has to do with it.

Is there any fix out there to keep it from eating my system resources, or is it just a natural part of Windows now?
(currently under Vista, even though I have this same problem on my laptop, which is running XP)

    Hi wildgamer,

We have collected some imformation from the Microsoft Help and how article from the link below which will help you to know which services are used by various instances of SVCHOST.exe are running on your computer.  From there, you can decide if it would be a good idea to stop these services or not.

    Of the atricle:

Svchost.exe is a process on the computer that hosts, or contains, other individual services that Windows uses to perform various functions. For example, Windows Defender uses a service that is hosted by a svchost.exe process.

To view the services that are running under svchost.exe

    1.

Open the Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar and then click Task Manager.

    2.

    Click the processes tab.

    3.

Click on Show processes from all users.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    4.

Right-click a svchost.exe instance and then click on reach or services. Services associated with the process are highlighted on the Services tab.

    What is SVCHOST.exe?

This is probably a good idea to leave things as they are, if you are not noticed problems of performance for this reason, but it will tell you what services are used by svchost.exe.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thank you. Shane

I'm sure that no app runs in the background, no updates, I always perform a hard reset. Can you help me please? Thank you

    Hello tintintin23,

Welcome to the Forums of the BlackBerry Support

While our BlackBerry devices can feel hot tell a long browsing session, play games, download countinous or during loading or if the applications are running in the background. If we hold the Menu for a few seconds, it will open a screen that will display all the programs running in the background, usually five will always be there (host, BBM, Message, phone, browser) you can always check if any other applications. run in the background.

Also always try to properly close the Applications - avoid using the end key to close the applications because it just minimizes the application and let it run in the background. Instead, press the Menu key, select close or Exit to exit the application. Don't let your browser open when not in use. If programs are running in the background, it will also allow overheating and also to quick battery drainage. Please take a look at these Article I hopeit will help you a lot to overcome your problems:

    Hello

On your home screen to Options > device > advanced system settings > BlackBerry Smart Analyzer > run the test from the battery to find out about the issue.

Or on your home screen to go to Options > device > application management. Move your trackpad right or left it shows CPU Usuages, it will at least give you an idea what application is the use of your resources.

Check and see if any application is responsible for the problem.

Question of observation on our BlackBerry battery cover them charge, are lithium-ion battery it won't take too long to load, it can reach a full charge (100%) within 2 hours. If your camera takes too long while you have connected to a wall outlet has a good and constant power. Or you can visit your service provider to check if this is a hardware failure.

  • Freezing of construction-2496824 VMWare Workstation 11.1.0

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 x 64 using Workstation 11.1.0 host (assessment of the trial).  I have a Windows 8.1 Pro x 64 running virtual machine.  It is the only virtual machine running.  A few minutes after starting the virtual machine, the virtual machine and the Workstation locks.

I do Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open the host Task Manager.  VMware.exe is always 25% of the CPU (I have a Core i7-4600U, so there are 4 cores with hypertheads).  VMware - vmx.exe CPU usuage varies.  My only option is to kill the process vmware.exe.  Then, the host runs normally.  To run the windows 8.1 host once again, I have to restart the computer, as it says the prompt is used.

When the computer restarts normally that's fine.  But this time he started running slow after a minute.  I opened the windows Task Manager.  Once it is open (after 10 minutes) I found that the CPU utilization was only 1% or more.  After 10 or 15 minutes of looking around, I started to kill the VMware processes.  After that I took some to the host ran normally.  It's working normally now.

The issue of freezing happened 4 or 5 times in two or three days.  When I kill computer vmware.exe always goes back to normal.

I did a few things like proactive:

    (1) add folder VM to the exclusion list antivirus, windows search, exclusion of our backup software list exclusion list.

    (2) remove the floppy and CD drive from the list of virtual machine hardware.  I read that could cause a hang upwards.

The event log does not contain something interesting.   I have attached all newspapers of vmware, I have for the machine virtual windows 8.1.

Any suggestions on what I can do next to try to solve this further?

The host is not lock it just the vmware workstation app.  I wanted to clarify that.

Other than the VM Pro 8.1 Windows only other VM I have is Windows XP Mode.  I started the XP Mode VM and it has always worked very well after having worked in the virtual machine for an hour.  I then restarted the VM of Windows 8.1 and three minutes later, he locked and workstation.  I see two vmware - vmx.exe treated one to 25% CPU usage in Task Manager (I presume VM Windows 8.1) and the other with barley any use of CPU (likey XP Mode).  Vmware.exe also has 25% CPU usage as before.

I'm in the resource monitor and to suspend the process vmware - vmx.exe which uses 25% cpu and now a workstation and the XP Mode VM work properly.  I then clicked on 'stop' the machine virtual windows 8.1 and has resumed the vmx process.  VM stop the 8.1 Windows workstation with success.  Workstation and the XP Mode VM still work normally.

So certainly issue between the workstation and the machine virtual windows 8.1 but I am not a guru vm or work station, so I can't determine what is the question.

    Edit

Repeat the question.  Is a wait analyze on vmware.exe chain in resource monitored and must wait on himself: "one or more threads to vmware.exe wait to finish i/o network." and "vmware.exe PID XXXX 6208" Thread.  So some kind of blocking of the thread?  When I suspend the vmware - vmx.exe running to my VM of Windows 8.1 then the vmware.exe CPU usage goes to 0%. But the wait vmware.exe watch chain still he waits on itself with the same message as above.  I then return to the vmware-vmx process and the CPU goes up to 25%.

I can fix things without killing the process vmware or vmx suspend windows 8.1 vmx process, use windows 7 taskbar live preview for click shutdown (square button) and then resume the vmx process.  At that point the 8.1 windows vm shutsdown immediately and the workstation (with the xp mode vm) is operating normally.

He has worked to find a few days but starting to give me this problem.

    Edit2

OK problem solved I think.  Our IT technician installed Malwarebytes Anti-malware over another anti-virus/anti-malware program.   Which was causing the computer to 'lock' (run slow but cpu was near 0% so desire ' cpu loading) during start, sounds a different problem than what I saw, but it may affect both workstation.  Also my VMs used NAT so I tried to switch to bridged and disabled the NAT and DHCP service.  Featured two fewer services to run.  Don't know which of those (if any) was causing the problem, but after those changes it works (for the most part very well).

When I try to manually import the M2V, appears the import status dialog box and the progress goes up to 98 or 98 and encorer crashes, but it also seems to hang Window 7.  It requires a power down and back up.  Unable to start the Task Manager.  When I tried this with the visible Task Manager, yet produced as before and the processor shows approximately 60-70% cpu usuage throughout the eight Hyperthreaded up yet about 98-99% while still and Manager task freezes (stops updating).

I tried this on dynamic link and he also hung.

Read on this forum and other forums, I uninstalled Quicktime 7.6.6 completely and re-installed 7.5.5.  I tried to delete the registry key for media cache as suggested.

I tried to import other M2V for 1 to 2 minutes and these lock the program as well.

I must emphasize that it is the first project yet since I've been running on the new OS, so I can't say never, it worked.

I uninstalled the entire suite CS4, ran the register Adobe cleaner and re-installed and re-activated software (full version, not a trial) yet still freezes.

Given that I had a second instance of Encore CS4 on a windows XP 32-bit computer, I copied the SOUL release described above to the second machine, has launched a project with the correct and successful settings to import the m2v.  Thus, it does not appear that the m2v file is corrupted or incorrect.  It does not seem to point to a problem to run the software on 64-bit.

The 64 - bit machine windows 7 was reserved mainly for video editing with CS4.  In addition to the CS4 and Quicktime, there is no other software loaded.

I'll build the BR - D on XP 32 bit machine project creating a disk image that I will copy to the 64-bit computer where is the BR - D drive.  It would be great avoid the hassle.  Although I bought of production premium CS5, I loaded not it because the current project uses BorisFX 9 and Graffitti effects (which have not been brought to 64-bit).

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

PS: I tried again running as an administrator on the 64-bit computer, it still hung.

  • Virtual CPU question

Hi, I'm relatively new on VMs, but have been playing with them for about the last 6 months. I have an ESXi host that is running 4 comments VM, and I can't understand how the host allocates CPU on the host servers.

One of the guests is a newly installed Exchange 2010 Server 2008 R2. In this guest operating system, the windows Task Manager showed that the CPU was at least a little. However, when I look at the contents of the host tab, it shows the use of the processor as the half. I thought that the host was supposed to allocate as much as necessary, but it seems to me that the host has more that's not give at the prompt. So after I saw that I configured the client to have a 2nd virtual processor, but then I read that this is not recommended. I put also the actions of CPU high for this customer. I did not have a reservation, but I was wondering if I should? I booked it 8 GB of memory, which doesn't seem to be a problem. Even with the 2nd CPU virtual, always double virtual processors poster Task Manager get maxed out sometimes, and the server can act quite slow when I'm trying to set it up, but the usuage on the host still seems low.

I guess I'm confused, I thought the host was supposed to automatically extend the amount of resources needed a guest so that you shouldn't ever Miss unless the host itself is maxed out. Can someone explain to me the best way to set this up so this exchange area gets all CPUS, that he needs?

    Thank you!

    Hello

The way it works is that you have a server with 1 quad not core cpu no hyper threading. This would have 4 cores to vmware to use. 4 cores is 4 virtual cpu to use at a relaxed pace. If you were to add it is 4 virtual cpu for all your virtual machines, you should be oversubscription and basically your VMs will begin waiting for the long time available CPU. You can measure with the KPI of time CPU waiting.

When you set a reserve, say 1000 Mhz to a virtual machine, which means that there is always 1000 Mhz available on this computer from the total pool of available CPU MHz.

1 virtual processor for a machine of Exchange 2010 is by far not enough cpu power. You do not want to give a little.

But why you are seeing in the guest computer use at 100% is because you have allocated only 1 vcpu virtual machine, so it is only using 1 core of the CPU. If you have a quad core cpu you would probably see the ESXi host around 25% usage

    Hope this clears for you

  • kernel_task runaway (from 300 to 600%) CPU with 2 external displays

I have a MacBook Pro (retina, mid-2012), and for a year and a half, I've had episodes fighter during the kernel_task suddenly begin to consume all processor CPU (from 300 to 600%), is the response of the system so slow it is impossible to use.  I experience these episodes throughout the front 1-2 years that the machine went from Yosemite El Capitan and now Sierra.

Normally, I use my MacBook with two external displays, both at work and at home.  At work, I have two external screens of Lenovo, and at home, I have two screens Apple (Apple Cinema Display 27-inch and 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt Display). I discovered that this kernel_task high CPU usage can only be stopped by disconnecting one of the external screens.  After unplugging an external display, the kernel_task subsides immediately to normal (< 5%).  After a few minutes, I can reconnect the 2nd external screen and proceed normally (sometimes for days, sometimes for hours, sometimes for a few minutes) until the kernel_task pulls up to 300-600% again.  The use of the high CPU kernel_task never happens unless I have two external displays connected.

Note that since I upgraded to MacOS Sierra fugue kernel_task CPU frequency has increased considerably: of 1 kernel_task runaway every several days to a runaway almost every 10 minutes or so.   I don't have a reason this frequency has increased, but the runaway condition seems to have worsened by the fact that the photoanalysisd daemon is running like crazy on my grand (72 000) library of Photos.

Also note that I started in recovery mode and have re-installed MacOS Sierra, and it has no effect on the runaway kernel_task.

Any ideas on how to fix this resumption of kernel_task of all my CPU?

  • MacBook Pro (15 inch, end 2013) with MacOS Sierra 10.12: kernel_task maxing out CPU with external display

I have a maxed out end 2013 the MacBook Pro Core i7 to 2.6 GHz, 16 GB of DDR3 RAM, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750 M 2048 MB, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB.

Also, I have a DELL P2415Q Display 24 inches (3840 x 2160) using Thunderbolt, are involved through the headphone jack and use a USB for lightning to recharge my iPhone.

I upgraded to macOS Sierra the day he is released and had no problems until this morning. I unplugged my external screen and speakers and used my laptop for about 15 minutes, the battery, and then returned to my office and plugged my Thunderbolt, rear speakers display in and my CPU shot at 100% and never came back down. My Mac is essentially useless because kernel_task is eating all my CPU and to prevent another asks to enter the CPU.

I have since audited equipment - everything was fine, reset the NVRAM and I tried to erase IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext .plist files but I couldn't on my Mac (trying to follow this guide, started in Safe Mode and everything then went to try and find the file and my Mac just does not have it). When my external screen is plugged if I'm doing anything CPU intensive (videophone, opening of Chrome, etc.) then my kernel_task gets mad again, and the only way to move is to unplug my screen. Connect my iPhone to charge the tips also my kernel_task as well. I followed my internal temperatures, and nothing was out of the ordinary, to cold currently at about 140 °.

At this point, it seems that any time that puts something on the charging system and increase the temperature internal internal components of my Mac kernel_task maxes my CPU, which brings my Mac to its knees.

Any ideas how to fix? Is this just a major bug in 10.12?

    Hi, Trent L.

Try this - problems with macOS Sierra? This fix can help you.

He got rid of all my macOS strangeness of the Sierra.

    Hope this helps,

  • CPU usage and Mail Web Content

I had a problem with macOS Sierra and Safari 10 where the CPU load for any tab was about 140% and the spinning fans, this was resolved by disabling Trusteer report. However, I still have a running process 'Mail content Web' running at 199% and fans of loading up every so often. Is this normal (seems a bit high) or is there something else I should disable/enable?

    Thank you

    Hello danielfromfareham!

Welcome to the communities of Apple Support!  Your question about your fans to vives after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra is greatly appreciated.  I know that if my Mac to run loudly after the upgrade, I'd be worried too.  It is my pleasure to help in any way I can today.

When running in issues of fan, you want to first try a SMC reset.  I have an article that will guide you through the steps:

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.
