Create a universal image

I had a quick question on hp machines. We sell a ton of HP desktop computers to customers and once from time to time a machine comes back and forces us to use the partition recovery or restore discs. I want to rather the Office at the end of the process of the image and the image that will be deployed to each win7 pro 64 machine that comes in which requires that recovery service mentioned above. I want to confirm if that would be good to do it since the product key information are incorporated into the BIOS to win7 and win8 or do you think I should still try to launch the software to remove the key, deploy the image and haunted the product key for this machine? (software Imaging would probably acronis or those who propose the deployment of universal equipment)

Hello

I do not think that this will apply to individuals (this is normal). On many companies, they don't need an image (or a version) for notebook computers, a single image for desktop computers. They deploy to end users and by using netdeploy to add more applications for end users.  They normally use same specs for their machines as a result, it is much easier for them to do that.

If your case, you may want to discuss with Microsoft (and HP) directly, they don't answer you on this forum. You have a PM sometimes later.

Kind regards.

  • Cannot create a recovery image

    Hello

I just bought a HP Pavilion x 2, it has a 64 GB SSD.  I want to create a recovery image using the HP utility but when I try, it fails. I think it is because there is not enough space on the Windows partition to create the image.  I have a USB drive connected with 27 GB of free but looks like it will create the image on the C drive, before you copy it to the USB drive. I don't want to remove my recovery partition until I know that I have another copy and I can't find anything else to uninstall to get the 14 GB I need (have 12 GB free). I have only had the tablet a few days so did not have much here, have uninstalled everything I put here except for the updates of Windows that I did. I erased the wimy file temp user profile.

Does anyone have ideas, what I can do?

    Hello

What application are you using to create the image?
I use Symantec ghost and I m very happy. I created an image file that has been placed to the second request, and if something goes wrong, I m able to install the OS from the image file.

In addition, this unit supported RAID and the RAID driver must be installed in order to recognize the HARD drive.

I use Norton Ghost 2003 to create the backup image file. The application is simple to use and I saved the picture on my second partition. If something goes wrong, I can restore the unity of the image any time.

External DVD USB drives are cheap. Usually $20 for a good quality player. Just buy one of these at Best Buy or another store and use it to install Snow Leopard. Then you also have a drive for something else that you have on the disk.

  • The create a System Image will save the FPGA code and the RT code?

I have some cRIO systems which were broadcast in our manufacturing plant for some time. A slight problem has been discovered in the programming and created a workaround solution, but a fix should be implemented. Currently, I have no way to test my new code without loading on the cRIO and it works on the tool while the product is running. If there is a problem and I need to do some debugging, the tool cannot be down for an extended period. I would write a vi that will save an image of the cRIO so I can reload the software that is currently running and prevent a situation of prolonged downtime.

My question is, when I did in the past with a product that has different tests, calibration and the final client software RT, it seems that the code FPGA not be saved (not a big deal at the time since the new FPGA code was compatible with different deployments RT). The new FPGA code won't be compatible with the old RT software, so now I'm worried. I would like to just check on it until I have all the boss breathing down my neck. If the service will not save the bitfile FPGA, is there anything else I can do for the tool to return to the previous running state while I solved problems that may exist with the new code review? The original code was lost by my predecessor. Otherwise, I would use just that.

    Hi Jeremy,.

You are right, because the create a System Image does not record the bitfile with the image of the RT. Using the configuration system API, you will need to deploy the RT image and then the bitfile FPGA compiled later. To ensure that you can return to the previous version of the software running on your RIOs, you could simply save the current image and bitfile before deploying the new image and bitfile.

However, the best way to proceed is to use replication Deployment Utility (RAD of OR). I have provided the link to the tutorial on the wheel, where you can download the utility. This exe will make images of the any of your RT targets and will also include the bitfiles with them. You can also deploy these images to several targets at once. In particular, you can read about the Bitfile (s) configure for FPGA Deployment Flash; the bitfile will be deployed at the start when stored in flash memory.

  • Is there a way to create a UNIVERSAL basket?

Hey the tech guys, I recently installed several systems of OS on my laptop, I deleted some files in different systems, here's the problem,
each system can display all files that are not removed, but the trash of each system can contain only deleted files in this specific system, while the rest are excluded

    question:
Is there a way to create a UNIVERSAL basket? while I can easily restore everything the file I want to without restart and go into another system, if it has been deleted in it.

I need efficiency, it's a big headache for the users of the multi-system I guess.

The real Bin $Recycle is an integral part of Windows.  If you delete the trash it will recreate itself.  They are protected from the operating system of records. You can hide, but that's all.  Each boot drive you have will have their own $Recycle Bin for this partition.  It will be integrated into the Windows operating system installed.

Not all versions of Windows are equal, or their trash. So to my knowledge, only you can create a universal basket in a dual-boot configuration.  Like I said try earlier post on TechNet Forum.  They are the professionals and if there is a way, they will show you.

  • Windows 7 create a system image

What is Windows 7 "create a system image"?

I've been reading comments & comments about free Macrium Reflect and Paragon Software. It seems that neither one is head & shoulders above the other, and the people have problems with both. It goes the same for Norton Ghost and Acronis True Image. People seem to complain at once may not be reliable.

Is there any reason not to use Windows 7's built in software?

Hello BNSFMike, as you suggest, most of these applications to disk image works much the same and is really just a personal preference of the user. I have used several of them over the years and settled on Acronis, since I have never had a problem with Acronis, while I experienced a few problems with other images backup applications at one time or another.

I've never used Windows backup, given that I have heard horror stories of backup locations not where the user wanted that they be saved. The D: Partition Recovery comes to mind.

I do create a new disk image at least once a week and perform a restore disk image every so often.

I have also copy and paste the new disk to an external hard drive image, but also another computer on the network, just for redundant backups. I saw a need for these in the past.

Because everyone has different needs, a backup approach is purely a personal preference, but the main thing to remember, is to always keep a current backup. Disk image approach I use works for me, even though it may not work for others.

  • How to save a copy of Windows XP that has been created by an image?

I used 'Image for Linux' to create an image of a PC with Windows XP, SP3.  With that done, I can copy the image to a new PC and it works fine (assuming that I stay within the limits of the PC HAL).

My problem is that I don't have to enter a new key of Windows XP when I installed the image on another PC. for example, I use a license of Windows XP on two PCs.  Since I want to be legitimate on my software license, I tried to activate Windows XP license to new PC - but the computer says that the license is already activated.  So it is logical that the new PC would react like that - I put the picture of an activated copy of Windows on a new PC, the new copy of Windows must also think that it is enabled.

All this brings me to my original question: how to save a copy of Windows XP that has been created by an image?

    Hi RichardMatt,

I recommend you contact the customer service of Microsoft for queries on activation for clarity.

  • Failed to create a System Image

I have Windows 7. In the past, I've created several images of system to my external hard drive of an application in accessories. Now it is possible from the control panel by selecting "return of a computer". The computer says it will create a system for my backup hard drive image, but it never gets there.

Original title: create a System Image

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you can not create the system image.

I will definitely help you with this.

    Please provide the information below.

    1. do you have any error message when creating system image?

    2. have you made any changes to the pc before that?

I suggest you go through the below methods:

Method 1: Try to run the system maintenance Troubleshooter:

    1. Press Windows + R key.

    2. Type command and press ENTER.

    3. Click on troubleshooting.

    4. In the left pane, click View all.

    5. In the list, click System maintenance and run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Try the clean boot:

A clean boot is executed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This will eliminate the conflicts of software that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in 8.1 of Windows, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You can also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

  • When I try to create a system image in Windows 7, I get the error 0x8078002A and 0x8007045D code

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and try to create a system image on my 3 TB USB 3.0 Seagate Expansion. A few seconds after the start, the backup fails and displays the message:

    The backup failed.

One of the files of backup could not be created. (0x8078002A)

    Additional information:
The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error. (0x8007045D)

I tried to create a system image to multiple computers, which results in the same error codes. I reformatted the disk and run chkdsk, but to no avail. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest avoid you the Windows backup program and you get a good commercial backup program. This forum is frought with for a windows problem reports. I know that I was very impressed when I tried it. Two me are familiar with and like Norton Ghost (which I use for 7 years without the 1st problem) and Memeo, which has 30 day free trial and you can buy it for $29.99 - you can download it from http://memeo.com. You can get Ghost for almost nothing (like me), if you look at the sales.

CNET has a lot of reviews of backup program to

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows/backup-software/?tag=contentBody;sideBar

Some of them are free (the last time I checked there over 300), some have free trials (more), and some are buying only (more than 200).

    Good luck

  • Windows Backup and Restore always fails when you create a system image.

When I run the Windows backup, it works fine until it gets to create a system image, it goes for about a minute then says "Done creating System Image" then the progress bar turns red. I've already defragged, virus research and checked to find errors on the disk external drive all come with nothing and no help.

I found this suggestion but have no idea what that means or how to do

    Number 4: Error Code 0 x 80070003.

If the reparse point is a mount point or a junction point to the root of another volume, you may experience the following issues when you try to restore the files under the reparse point:

    • You cannot restore to the original location if the reparse point directory is removed.

To work around this problem, re-create the reparse point directory.

    • You cannot restore to another location if you click to select the box restore files in their original subfolders in the file restore wizard.

To work around this problem, clear the check box restore files in their original subfolders when you run the wizard to restore the file.

Do you think that would help and please tell me what to do, it's all so frustrating when you have no idea what the jargon means or where access things.

  • Get the error (0 x 8078119) when you try to create a system image in Windows 7

    Original title: shadow copy volume
    Hello

I currently have problems with creating a system image, because it comes back with the error (0 x 8078119) now I know it's, it's to do with the lack of disk space of 100 MB (startup disk or something like that) but with mine I have 62% of free space that is 63 MB available space for me (Please note the 100 MB drive for me is 102 mb)
so I was wondering if anyone can help, because I had a virus before and ended up losing everything, that I don't really want to breed

    Hi Jugganourt,

Please see the troubleshooting following thanks Divya R:

Step 1: Check if the shadow copy Volume service is running.

    1. Click Start and type services.msc in the search box

    2. double-click on the Volume Shadow Copy Service.

If you receive a Configuration Manager message, click OK.

    3. in the Startup Type list, clickAutomatic, and then click OK.

    4 services nearby.

    5 restart the computer.

Step 2: Open Event Viewer to check the exact error message:

Event Viewer is a tool that displays detailed information about the events important (for example, programs that don't start as expected or updates are downloaded automatically) on your computer.
