Creating a site for mobile device

Can someone tell me if I can create a mobile and tablet version of someone else has created a Web site? For example, if the client already has a site and is happy with it. They want to just create a mobile version. Can I create a version of the Tablet/phone and transfer it to the FTP host on which the site already in?

If you are looking to design and publish just a mobile site, you can easily do so through Muse. When you start a new project in Muse you can select the original provision of phone and start the planning and design of your mobile site. If necessary, you can later add the tablet to your project and office layouts, as well. Then when you're ready to publish your mobile site (for accommodation from Adobe via Business Catalyst) or to your own host third, you can download the site to a directory of the host of your choice in order to not touch the site files existing funds. Otherwise, you always have the option to export the site in HTML format and publish any where you like via a client such as WinSCP or Filezilla FTP.

If you publish to a third party host, you can then search detection scripts and redirection of device over the internet (there are many) and embed the code into your site pages funds already existing, or you could grab the code from your project Muse.

Thank you

This has probably been asked a thousand times, but can anyone offer some advice on the design of web sites for mobile devices? I just bought an iPad 2, as well as my smart phone, then I discovered that Creative Suite 5.5 focuses largely on mobile devices. (I still use CS3 and will probably not be able to upgrade until next year; "I have to buy a new laptop first).

In any case, a question I have regarding the domain extensions. Is there a big advantage to get a Web site with the .mobi extension, or most of the people just change their Web pages so that they appear correctly on all workstations for mobile devices?

Also, can someone point me to a good tutorial or resource that deals with the design of web sites for mobile devices?

Finally, can someone tell me why I can not post on this forum with my iPad? I was able to type in a title, but I couldn't write anything in the message area.

    Thank you.

    Hello

In any case, a question I have regarding the domain extensions. Is there a big advantage to get a Web site with the .mobi extension, or most of the people just change their Web pages so that they appear correctly on all workstations for mobile devices?

For smartphone/tablet, there is no advantage in having a website for .mobi for the average web site owner, (corporate sites are however another reality entirely) and it is now a more common practice to use media queries to a specific provision of the device.

Also, can someone point me to a good tutorial or resource that deals with the design of web sites for mobile devices?

    Try http://www.alistapart.com/topics/mobile/.

Sorry, but not not not an iPad to test the problem I can't help with this one. Maybe someone else can do!

  • How can I create a menu for a site to scroll a page for mobile devices?

Hi, Im trying to create a menu for my version of phone of my a roll site page. I created a nice menu with the help of the Accordion widget, which when opened gives you links to different sections of the site that are defined by anchor points. The problem is when you select an element of the Accordion widget menu, it will automatically close after a click on the menu item. The site scrolls behind the menu, but you'll need to physcially close the menu by clicking on it again. It is of course a very bad user experience. I tried various menus third parties none of which work for sites of a page. Given the many Web sites is a scrolling page sites seems to be a major problem for users of Muse who have no menu option for this kind of design! Anyone know of any code that could be used to automatically close the Accordion widget when you select an item in the menu? Please help Ive spent a lot of time designing this site for the office but now having to PAP I can't produce the version phone, I really don't want to have to resort again to Wordpress.

    Thanks in advance!

Hello! Active States help the user to see that they are on a separate page, and they can click the close button.

Or you can see what I've done on the mobile page for one of my models that is very UI/UX friendly partially because of this reason (http://flowz.ljdezignz.com/phone/).

  • How to create a menu burger for mobile devices with submenus?

    Hello

I don't understand why Muse have still a self building mobile menu as it does for Desktop - Web sites. All other tools like RapidWeaver done!

So I have to build my own burger menu manually. The problem is: How can I build with the submenus? Levels got more complex Web site and it would be much better, if the user can access directly through each of them on a mobile device in a burger menu.

    Can anyone help?

I don't see what you want potential problems.

Not 100% what you want, but the simple option is to nest panels in accordion inside each other. I spent 10 minutes during lunch at one place scheme (the burger is bad image and size of items is all wrong, but you can play with it (and change from pretty bad looking for something OK/good)).

    Mock up quick hamburger

If you really want a slide from the right as in the example you have pointed out, you need to insert some html/css:

-build the submenu just next to the page and the group. Listen to samples and inspect the element chromium to find the UID of the group. The click of the menu item, call the submenu UID and move the element on the page. Include the ease settings to soften the transition.

Can go more in detail if you wish.

Good luck and sorry is not the prettiest workaround. Maybe build widget a day.

  • Construction of a sensitive site for mobile phones - my first try.

It is my first try at building a sensitive site in Dreamweaver CS6 for mobile phones, tablets, etc. From now on the page "fluid - grid.css", I have the media query to: "@media screen alone and (min-width: 481px) ' I built the entire site with this size in mind, but I found it's always appear a little too big on my iphone 5 c.»» It looks to the '(min-width: 481px) ' must have been fixed in "(min-largeur: 321px)". " To do this, I will have to start all over again with the site or can I simply change this on the css page?

    Thank you!

    Mike

Grid layouts of fluids are built on the mobile first principle.  In other words, you don't need to specify the device width b/c this is the default layout.  First, you need to create because everything is based on that.  It ranges from 0 - 480px wide.

Then, you build your formatting of Tablet.  DW automatically creates the media queries. Usually 481px to 768px.

Finally, you build your office layout, new DW creates queries from the media for you. Usually 769px - 1232px.

That said, you should never (I mean ever) alter master key or code FGLayout.css (all that you named it).  If you need to customize the styles of backgrounds, typography, etc., you must use a separate external style sheet.

FGLayout code is very temperamental.  The more experienced coders have trouble with it.  So just don't be tempted to waste his time with her.  You will have less problems like that.

  • Slide show image for mobile devices

    Hello world

I'm doing my mobile site a little more user-friendly. On my current home page, I have a flash slideshow of images jpg image.

Current page - photography of birds - Glenn Bartley Nature photography workshops

I hope someone can help me with this move to a certain type of image slideshow that would work on mobile. Basically, I want to just images to scroll through all the seconds at random. Maybe 20 photos.

Previously, I had a small banner ad of my main website that works on mobile. But when I tried to copy that code above doesn't seem to work. Perhaps because he was in a table?

See banner advertising - Glenn Bartley Nature photography workshops - photography of birds, Nature, photography,.

If someone has a simple code I can insert my workshops page to rotate the images through mobile devices I would really appreciate the help.

    Thank you very much!

    Glenn

Mobile users might appreciate not all that consumption of bandwidth.  I often give my cell phone static image a users to look for not eating their limited data plans.

On the other hand, most Tablet users have Wifi, so the bandwidth consumption is not as big a consideration for them.  However, 20 images is excessive.  5 or 6 means a better.

If your site is built with delicate framework Bootstrap, you can use the built in component carousel Bootstrap described below.

  • I created a site for a restaurant that offers a changing menu everyday.  Need a referral.

    Hello

I'm creating a Web site for a restaurant which changes their menu every day.  I would like to make a site that makes it as easy as possible for them to change the menu themselves through the edit in browser option.  So far, I have found that the simplest method is to have the client export the menu (from the program they use to make their menu... Microsoft Publisher) as an image, when you log in to Business Catalyst and replace the old image with the new menu.  This works very well for the desktop version of the site, but I'm trying to figure out how to get the change on the mobile menu and versions of the tablet at the same time.

Is there a way to do this?  Or I go to this trouble?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

    Andy

    Hi Andy,.

Currently, there is no way to do it with only one change. But it should be easy enough to do in the browser.

Not the office as usual. Then navigate to the version of the Tablet (www.yoursite.com/tablet) and do it there and even with the phone version (www.yoursite.com/phone).

You are hosting with Business Catalyst or third party hosting?

  • How can I make the menu vertical spry clickable CS6 for mobile devices?

It works very well for the PC, but on mobile devices you must press a link, then the other. Then go back and click on the first link to get the secondary menu appear or work. I know he's a scoring event in the JS file, but don't see anything that could trigger an event click or tap. I'd love it if someone could point me in the right direction, because I'm doing my old site more mobile friendly.

Spry is dead.  Adobe abandons Spry in 2012.  Nobody uses it more because it's not touch friendly.  Find a better system of menu - jQuery & CSS.

  • animation for mobile devices

    Hi all

I animate bitmap images, scheduled for a soundtrack with Flash. It is very good for viewing in a laptop or kiosk, but I need this type of project to mobile devices to port. What should I use?

    Thank you

You can use a text editor to create html5 content.

and you can simplify your production using (free) jquery.

and if you can accept some restrictions of design, you can also simplify your production by using jquery-mobile (free).

and it is absurd to use images bitmap when designing for mobile, because none of them have large screens.

But yes, cc flash can manage bitmap images and publish html5 content. There are, however, limits of the bitmap:

The largest authorized square bitmap is 4 095 x 4 095 pixels.  Non-rectangular size limits vary, for example, the following sizes all fit them within the limits of Flash Player 10:

    • 2169 x 7735
    • 3133 x 5355
    • 3315 x 5061
    • 3615 x 4641
    • 4095 x 4097
    • 4097 x 4095
    • 4641 x 3615
    • 5061 x 3315
    • 5355 x 3133
    • 7735 x 216

I have many Captivate movies that I created in version 4.  I'm now opening in Captivate 6 to republish the so that they can be viewed on mobile devices, so I'm clicking on HTML5 when I publish.  I get the message that I have not supported unsupported objects I can display in HTML5 tracker.  So it seems I won't be able to keep all the animations, such as arrows pointing to an object on the screen, or the legends of overview.  Adobe has released a list of all objects not support HTML5?  Is there no workaround solution, either for me or for the user who viewed on a mobile device? There are animated arrows that work?  Thank you!

    Hello

Here is the list of objects not supported in HTML 5: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/publish-projects-html5-files.html

If you want an animated arrow, you can insert a for this arrow animated .gif file that is supported in the HTML 5 output.

  • rebuild the style sheets CSS3 for mobile device

Do I have to rewrite my css3 style sheets to set up the smartphone device?

Existing Web site is the standard layout 2 column - do I need to create style sheets for iPhone and iPad?  then assign the stylesheets with media queries?

Yes.  If you want to support different layouts in different devices, this is the procedure.

David Powers has written a nice tutorial - Introduction to CSS Media Queries
