Creating Restore Point manually

Problems with a slow PC, may have possible malware, but hear all the ups protection, that is, Webroot and Windows Defender, attempted to create a restore point at least one and at the back of the half-year. How do we proceed?

Hello

Restore points only go back until the space allowed for them and which is often 15% of
primary drive even if it can be changed to more or less. Of course you can only restore back
as far as the points were made. You could of course revert to factory-installed version of
Windows using the Recovery Options (if the system manufacturer uses these methods) or the installation of Vista
media of the machine system.

Original title - help with Restore Points

I recently changed the size of my drives C and D using a utility partition.

He stopped the automatic creation of Restore Points. I noticed this because the restore disk cleanup deleting data/shadow copies running did not clearly get out any space on my hard drive. I run Disk Cleanup about every 10 days.
I tried to re - turn on this; but I'm not able to do. Here's what I did:
Under Task Scheduler, I have a set trigger in place to create a point of restoring daily at 14:00. My computer is sometimes off in the morning.
The State of this trigger is activated. This is used to create regular restore points.
I disabled the trigger to create a restore at startup a point a couple of years. My system has been the creation of restore points every day with the other Tirgger at 14:00 in Task Scheduler.
Question No. 1: Would it be useful to delete and recreate the trigger for 14:00?
Question 2: I went into control panel – system and Maintenance – System – the System Protection window and I am able to manually create a restore point.
I can see my drives C and D on the list. Maybe I think too much about things and read things correctly; but I feel like it's better to ask this question:
    * Should I put a check mark next to my D drive or my C drive?
I ask this question because the title says in this little window of the System Protection: "create restore automatically on some points:
So, does that mean that only check box for drive C indicates a place where the restore point will be created physically ("on drive C"), or it means to a restore point to data on the C drive will be created? Is this clear?
Right now I checked C drive and D drive and not on the list. I'm assuming he's asking me which drive I want backed up.
(I don't know where the backup restore points are saved/located to go look for them.)
I see that the last restore point was when I did it manually. The task scheduled for 14:00 does not appear on the list in this little window. However, when I check the history of Task Scheduler, it shows that the task has been completed.
Question 3: Is something wrong with this list? I also check to see if the restore point is created at 14:00 from the task history shows that this has been done?
I would appreciate help with this. I put a reminder on my calendar to create restore points manually. But something does not work with my system; and I want to fix it.
    Ken

Restore points are made. Yesterday, after posting the original message/questions, I changed the schedule of the trigger to make a restore point. Maybe something jogging in the system in place. (Not exactly a technical term, I know.)

Today, I checked the disk cleanup and had much less free space of a few days. I ran clean it point restoration/cliché and cleared space. Then I checked the control panel – system and Maintenance – System – the System Protection window and saw that the restore point the most recent was created today.
    Then...
Question 1: Maybe change the relaxation time makes a difference.
Question 2: Place a check mark next to the C drive, which is the drive that you want supported during the restoration.
Question 3: Everything is fine with this list.

    Hello

    1. what exactly happens when you try to create a system restore point?

    2. you receive an error message when you create system restore point?

    3. what operating system is installed on the computer?

In the event that you use the Windows 7 operating system you can follow the steps below and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

Locate the service associated with the restoration of the system or Volume Shadow Copy Service is started after the computer is restarted. This service can be stopped by some viruses as well, so you can try to run a scan of your computer.

    To check the service

    (a) click Start

    (b) in the start search box type Services

    (c) click on - RUN as ADMINISTRATOR

Check if the below mentioned services has mentioned State and type start.

    Shadow copy volume started Automatic\Manual

    Step 2:

Also check the dependency services that are required for the System Restore Service run.

To verify that double-click the service, and click the Dependencies tab.

This service must be started before the restore point is created automatically or manually.

    Method 2:

Try disabling the firewall and windows temporarily on the computer security software and then try to create a system restore point and check if that helps.

Follow the articles given below to change the settings for the firewall and security software settings

    Understanding Windows Firewall settings

    Note:

If you are able to perform the system restore after you disable the security software then you may have to contact the software publisher for the security software by disabling the firewall and security software is a potential threat to the security of the system.

To store restore points, you need at least 300 megabytes (MB) of free space on each hard disk with the system on Protection.

System Restore can use up to 15 percent of the space on each disk.

As the amount of space fills up with restore points, System Restore deletes older restore points to make room for the new.

    Hello

I think that it s a question simple operating system possibly a registry issue that s nothing unusual for windows os ;) I had many problems with the windows operating system in the past

Because of that I always use the 3rd party tools to clean the registry

I can recommend a CCleaner it s free and in my opinion very good tool that helps to clean the registry
    Maybe you should try it

  • How to change group policy for the system restore will create restore point

I recently installed an SSD with windows 7, it's the default OS and hard drive on a system dual boot. I also have my old HHD with windows vista home premium. I had problems using the restore of the system with the SSD drive and read on a forum that the restoration of the system causes problems when it is used on an SSD. I have disable restoring the system to the SSD, but still he had checked to allow restoration on the vista disk and a 500 GB drive, I have use for storage.

I managed to create a restore point when you are using windows 7 OS, but when I used my vista drive, and wanted to create additional restore points for two HHD disks, it does not allow the creation of restore points by group policy settings. I regularly create restore for the SSD disk and have created one for the HHD Vista since the system restore does not create additional restore points now.

How can I change my group policy settings to enable restore points to create the disk under Vista. I don't remember changing anything that might have caused it, is there a chance that a horse of Trojan or virus caused this? I have Webroot antivirus and currently aired Kaspersky Anti-virus on Vista drive. I also ran the Microsoft safety scanner in safe mode and normal startup mode, none of the virus scanners have found problems, so I'm pretty sure I don't have a Trojan or a virus.

To the point, how to make appropriate changes to allow the restoration of the system to work for my two HHD disks.  Better yet is there a way to restore completely all original windows default system settings without having to do a clean reinstall.

You can provide any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

You receive an error message when creating a new system for Windows vista restore point?

    Using the Group Policy Editor

If your edition of Windows Vista includes the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) snap-in,

    Follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
    2. go to the following branch: Computer Configuration | Administrative templates | System | System restore
    3. double click on disable the Configuration and set it to not configured.
Note: If the above setting is already set to not configured, set it to "Enabled" and click on apply. Return back the setting to not configured, then click on apply, OK.
    4. exit the Group Policy Editor.

If using the Group Policy Editor do not fix the problem, try the registry fix from the following.

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • Slow to open create restore point

On my desktop XP 2.01GH with 512 MB of memory, 150GBdrive with space 11.1 GB used, creating a restore point takes 1 second to open. On my Vista laptop 2.1GH PC with 3GBmemory, 220 GB GB 60.5 disc, creating a restore point takes 3 minutes to open. I see other problems to users that it is quite fast but keeping in mind I am not getting any error messages or anything unusual happening, can someone please tell me why it should take 3 minutes Vista to open when XP takes 1 second? Would it be because of the higher space which need to be covered? If not, is there a way to speed up the Vista of 3 minutes?

I don't have a concrete answer except tell you what I did.
I had your situation several times and found out that if I did a cleanup of twilight and delete all except the most recent restore points, System Properties window would open much more quickly.

CAUTION: Do not remove all your restore points like I said unless you are sure that your difficulties works well. Because you will not have any older restore point to fall back after the 2nd stage of cleaning of say.

    Tutorial of disk cleanup:
    It consists of 2 parts...
In step 1 to 11, it's just the usual disk cleanup.
Step 12 until the end, it is to delete all except the most recent restore points.

  • No restore point on the computer and unable to create restore points

    original title: restore point

I don't have and can't seem to create a restore point on my computer... Why?

    Hello

May be an indication of corruption. Turn off System Restore in Control Panel of configuration/system under Protection System. Then restart and restart the service (recheck it before turn off readers). See if it will then create a restore point.

If this fails, you probably experience some interference from other software installed on the system. You need to selectively disable the axis of startup programs until the restoration of the system behaves normally. Instructions for the boot minimum troubleshooting can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

    Hi Anacondas,

    ·        Who is the manufacturer of the DVD drive?

You can click Next when he invites drivers and try to install generic drivers for the DVD player and check if it works very well.

You can also check in Device Manager if DVD players are publicly unknown peripheral unders and try to update and install the driver from the Device Manager and check if it helps.

Access the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

If the steps above do not help, you do a system restore on your computer and check if it helps you recover DVD players.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, type system restore in the search box and then in the list click on the system restore program.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    b. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    c. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem and then click Next, click Finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.
