  If I read this correctly, you have a portable computer that do not have an operating system on it.  You try to install Vista and get the error.
  You've restarted the Vista installation?  So then you get the same error? If you have tried to install more than once and continue to receive this error, check that the laptop is capable of Vista?  You may need to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if it is able to support Vista.   Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and

  If you USB, most of the time, the PC will recognize what printer is which. Sometimes PORTS does not commute. You can manually change the correct ports if necessary.

  CLICK ON THE MENU START

  3. choose the PRINTER PROPERTIES

  4. click on PORTS

  5. There will be a list of ports with one (checked marked). If it's on the wrong port, change to the right pair and choose APPLY.

  (NOTE: it must ALWAYS be on a USB port or a wireless connection.) Some ports wireless start with a #(adresse IP) or a SERIAL number)

  You should try another recovery.

  New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure.
