CSS and Design View

I used Dreamweaver since v3 and CSS for 4 years. Previously, I had no difficulty to see the result of my stylesheet linked in design mode, when you view an html page. I've recently updated for Dreamweaver 8.02. I also use the Master 4.51 for CSS working Style. Could one of these be influence the application making the css design mode or is it something else? Any ideas?

In your main menu in Dreamweaver:

View > Style rendering

Make sure you have not inadvertently off rendering of style.

    Another thing to check: open preferences in the Edit (Dreamweaver menu
    menu on a Mac), then select types of files/publishers. If .php is listed in Open
    in code view, remove it from the list. You should then be able to move
    in Design view.

  • Is it possible to disable text CSS and design with HTML only?

    I am designing the text html only IE: font, color, size. The only method I know is to highlight the text and then go to insert > Html > text objects. This method is tedious and time consuming.

    I don't no the arguments or reasons as to why I should be using CSS, I'm just looking for a solution to disable the design with HTML and CSS. I use Dreamweaver CS5.

    Thank you

    Paul

    The option to disable CSS has been removed from Dreamweaver CS4. CS5 is the same.

    If you have a strong need for the use of font tags, open the favorite category of the bar/panel insert, right click and select customize Favorites.

    In the dialog box that opens, select HTML in the menu of items available. At the bottom of the list, you can find fonts Tag Editor. Highlight it, and then click the double chevron to move it in the right panel. Click OK to insert the font tag editor in your Favorites.

    You can use tag editor of text fonts with font style tags.

    The alternative is to use the CSS inline styles that can be created using the menu rule target in the property inspector when on the left, the CSS button is selected.

  • Design view is truncated

    I did something (I do not know what!) and somehow caused the design view to cut the page down to the Middle so I do not see the right half. How can I get that back to normal so I can see the entire page in design mode. I use DW CS4.

    Thanks Jon,

    It is truncated, in split mode or design mode. I stopped DW and re-opened and it is still messed up. I have toggled the Split and design views and tried to change the size of the pages. I've probably mistyped a shortcut and floated somehow the page to the left. But I don't know how to get back to normal. It's probably something stupid. I'll shut down the computer and restart to see if it makes it. I'll let you know. Otherwise, any ideas would be welcome.

    John

    FOUND. I added a style sheet to the page and it has messed up the design view. (???) Other pages are not doing. When I deleted the style sheet, it is returned to normal. Since I have to just add a little CSS will integrate on the page and I not add any style sheet and that should be OK.

    Thanks Jon.

  • Tools are lacking in Design view in dreamweaver cc-fluid grid

    I have Dreamweaver cc and I changed the code in the cs so I can see the live view and design view in the transmission grid. Now, the tool is missing where you can put something in the trash and adding an additional division attached is

    a screenshot of what I'm trying to see... This attached image shows Dreamweaver with on cs cs changed to see live... The reason why I changed the cs should be able to edit the site in design, because you cannot change mode live view and editing can only be done in the code. Help, please!

    ToolMissing.jpg

    Work around the rear Design view disables fluid network tools because to back Design, you're trick DW into thinking that you are not using a GFL.

    If you really need these tools, go back to DW CC 2014.0 where Design and Live work always well with the FGL. 2014.0 is not available through the 'Previous Versions' of the CC desktop application, then you need to use direct links...

  • Model purchased web moved completely in Design view. How to fix?

    Hi, hoping to edit in DW CC, I bought a site template web html5, but even if she has been described as 'Editable' when I open in layout design mode has been completely moved.  It has not been possible to find anything and change. but in live mode everthing seems ok. I asked the seller this and they said it may move in editors and you should edit in script mode. There is any solution to change the model to the view desing?

    Most of the models, even those which is designed in DW, tend to be edited mostly in the code.  Because of the emphasis on mobility and sensitive design, it is difficult to see things in Design view without making additional code that would be a server that is the difference between mode live view and design view.

    What I usually suggest to people who do not like the code is to hire someone to get a template in a content management system (CMS) so that end users can modify the site content in a simple editor. This protect the code and make changes as simple as possible for you.

    The URL path may be absolute or in relation to the location of the file CSS.

    ex:

    images/test.png

  • The question regarding the positioning (differences between Design view and live view)

    I don't know how to perform the same search to see if this has been asked, nor how to properly ask the question... but here goes...

    I have a div id "container" which is limited to large 968px.  Inside that I want to have 2 columns (one containing nothing else than a background image) next to each other.

    I called a left_column and other right_column.

    The background image will be in the left column and is high by wide 290px 550px.

    I used CSS to define the following:

    {#left_column}

    background-color: #FFF;

    background-image: url (.. / images/waterfall.jpg);

    background-repeat: no-repeat;

    position: relative;

    height: 550px;

    Width: 290px;

    margin-right: 10px;

    float: left;

    }

    {#right_column}

    height: 550px;

    Width: 650px;

    margin-left: 10px;

    padding-left: 12px;

    position: relative;

    left: 10px;

    }

    In "design mode" everything seems wonderful.  When I go to the live view (and/or browserlab) the text in the right-hand column shows the usable space is only 300px.

    If I change the width of the right_column to 'auto' can live view (and/or browserlab) everything seems all I want, but in the view design right_column width is closer to 900px and goes the WAY out of the container (which makes it very difficult to see the text as I type).

    No idea what I messed up?  What other details do you need?

    Thanks in advance.

    I wanted the left and right columns to be the same height, so the footer doesn't look like it has been 'floating' lower from one side to the other.  The width is controlled by the banner image 968px.

    Columns of Google to 'false '. It is a technique that requires a background image set to "container".

    . The image is repeated behind the "right column
    to fill the depth and give the impression that the two columns are of equal height.

    mikemendo wrote:

    In the left column photos is a background image, so if I put the height and width, then the image is not of appropriate size.  The reason why I did a background image was to follow the advice of David Powers in his article on "your first site.

    This technique is good to use.

    At present the total width of all your elements adds to 982px that is wider than your container attached to 968px. Margin and padding ARE added to the width of a 'container' if:

    290px + 10px = 300px

    650px + 12px 10px 10px plus 682px

    TOTAL = 982px

    You can adjust the math for the total width does not exceed the width of your "container".

    Use this css and everything should work:

    #container {}

    overflow: hidden;

    margin: 0 auto;

    Width: 968px;

    background-image: url (.. / images/rightColBg.gif)

    background-repeat: repeat-y;

    }

    {#left_column}

    background-color: #FFF;

    background-image: url (.. / images/waterfall.jpg);

    background-repeat: no-repeat;

    Width: 290px;

    margin-right: 10px;

    float: left;

    }

    {#right_column}

    Width: 656px;

    padding-left: 12px;

    float: left;

    }

    #footer {}

    Clear: both;

    }

  • Design view with the CSS Code Quarks

    Well, I have a situation that is a bit complicated to explain here, so I'll try and simplify this.  Basically, I see more erratic behavior when you try to add padding to the sorted list and watch it in Design view.  Example code:

    < html >
    < head >
    < meta http-equiv = "Content-Type" content = text/html"; charset = utf-8 ">"
    < title > Untitled Document < /title >
    < / head >

    < body >
    < ol style = "" padding-left: 10px; ">"
    < /li > < li > tips
    things < li > < /li >
    < /ol >
    < / body >
    < / html >

    Now BEFORE I added this css style in the ol tag, the ordered list was all nice and indented.  AFTER I added a style to it, it gets sucked upward until almost touching the left edge of my page now except these 10px (I don't have to say, this rule in DW is nice for this kind of thing) as if he forgot any other kind of indented at all.  What is strange to me is that if I save the file and load it into a browser, indentation is normal.  If I close the file in Dreamweaver and open it again, the spacing is fine.  Why would he do that?

    Photo below shows what happens when I first present the code and then after I saved and reopen the document.

    A few things to check:

    Design view DW & some recent browsers are less forgiving of errors in code.

    Validate your code with the tools below and fix the errors reported.

    Finally, if you are to your document HTML isn't a valid document type declaration (DTD), some browsers will make it in Quirks Mode, which can produce unexpected results.

  • Link to the CSS problem (in Design view)

    Hello expert Dreamweaver,

    In the CS3 Dreamweaver Design view is not recovering styles specified in a linked style sheet. Let me explain...

    I use an application in our office who relies on HTML (but does not use a standard web browser).

    I need to refer to style sheets linked using a variable as if;

    [#1 example]
    "< link href="{FILES_DIR}/path/css/stylesheet.css "rel ="stylesheet"type =" text/css"/ >

    The use of the variable "{FILES_DIR}" construction eliminates the need to hardcode a drive letter in the link which is preferable. Without "{FILES_DIR}", I have to hardcode the letter drive as follows;

    [#2 example]
    "< link href="file:///K|/additional-path-details/path/css/stylesheet.css "rel ="stylesheet"type =" text/css"->

    The two examples above give the same result in the application (the style sheet is found and its styles applied correctly).

    However, only with the #2 example is "Design Mode" Dreamweaver pick up and apply the style sheet. Dreamweaver cannot find the style sheet or apply styles with example #1.

    My question is how can I do Dreamweaver to understand and apply what means "{FILES_DIR}.

    Advice, tips or pointers would be appreciated...

    Hello Thierry,.

    You said:

    Quote:
    Have you looked into the sheets of styles 'DTC '? That may solve your problem.

    Darn good idea! It solves my problem insofar as I can now apply a design view-specific style sheet even if Dreamweaver does not include the path that I actually have the code in the document.

    It seems to work.

    For everyone interested by this I found that it was not easy to search healp DW for a phrase with a hyphen in it. I had to use this 'design time style sheets' instead. Here's the online version;

    Use design-TIME style sheets

    Thank you!

    This will be the case when you are clicking an element with ' overflow: hidden ' applied.  To change the item, you must double-click, or click right and full item, select from the context menu.

    DW is - to take account of cases where an item with this style has a scroll function, preventing all of the content displayed in Design view.  When you double click, the content IS displayed, which distort the Design mode as expected, but you can now edit the content that may otherwise be hidden.
