CSS formatting issues

I should start this by saying: I am very new to CSS layouts and am self-taught, so I'm probably doing something very wrong. So far I have stuck to layouts very simple and had no problems... but they have been implemented with very simple page.

With the site, I'm doing this now that I placed another div inside a content div, so that I can have left and the content of the right hand in the div content. But the left and right div isn't pushing the div contained down with their content, and I don't know what else to try to make it work.

I tried setting the height of the div contained for auto or inherit, but who doesn't.

As you can see on the home page of the site, I use a background image in the cell content.

And if you look at the details page you can see what I'm trying to describe. The contained not div pushing down with the left and right content div content means that the background image is a few pixels deep under the nav DIV.

And my pathetic/stylesheet CSS is here:

http://members.WestNet.com.au/zelky/surfschoolnew/mainStyle.CSS

Thanks in advance and I hope that my mess isn't ' hard to watch. As I said I'm a little lost so I hope I won't confuse anyone with my skills "home made".

When you "float" elements on your page you remove effectively
the normal flow of the document, the 'content '.

think
nothing is inside. You need to help him "compensation" by the floats.
There are various methods of clearing of floats.

Insert a "clearing".
(see below) in the code of your pages directly
AFTER the closing tag container 'just' and BEFORE the closing 'content '.
tag Container.

  • CSS list formatting issue on the remote server only

    Hello

    This is my first website, so my apologies if it is ridiculously obvious.

    As you can see I have a slideshow gallery using the js query "galleriffic".  I have problems with CSS formatting of a list - on my local site, it displays very well, with no point of ball for the "thumbs" invisble and the formatting of the text for the arrows "next", "prev".  Once I have upload to remote server however this formatting is ignored send me unwanted fleas and small arrows.

    The site is:

    www.benwatsondesign.com

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thank you

    Ben

    I checked your site in a few browsers. For some reason, the file bwatson.css that you point to is not loaded. An older version is. He sends a 304 not modified header.

    I suggest that you change the name of the stylesheet in something like benwatson1.css and change in theof the page. It seems that the style sheet is owned in a proxy somewhere, that's why the new version is not loaded when the page is.

    Hello

    in recent weeks, when I start the Firefox Os market, I see an HTML formatted without any layout. Somehow, I lost the page layout information. How can I get it back? The first idea was reinstalled on the market. But this isn't an app on the market...

    Please help me. using the market without layout may not be used for long periods.
    Other applications all work correctly. The market had a layout, when I bought the smartphone (ZTE C open).

    Hi page,.

    I understand you are having problems viewing the content on Firefox market, and that the CSS formatting seems to be missing.

    Can you please attach a screenshot of what you feel?

    What happens when you try to access the market via the browser, clicking on [marketplace.firefox.com]?

    We can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • My downloaded site has no CSS formatting

    My downloaded site has no CSS formatting, although I have a Cascading Style sheet and formatting seems good in Dreamweaver CM³. I downloaded all the files using CuteFTP to a remote host server. I used the file 'blogPostStyle.css '. "I checked with the validator of the W3C HTML5 pages, and everything was good, including the reference to the .css file in the head of each page" < link href = Styles/blogPostStyle.css"" rel = "stylesheet" type = "text/css" > ".

    Fixed a problem. I had saved the folder "styles" with a capital "S". Once I demoted the uppercase, the style sheet formatting used.

    Make sure that you expand the path to the streetLine node:

    string-join(settlementInstruction/correspondentInformation/routingIdsAndExplicitDetails/routingAddress/streetAddress/streetLine, " ")

  • I'm losing the css formatting when I move the files in the local directory

    I'm rethinking our old site, so I myself created a temporary folder in my site all the pages with the new look. When I'm ready to download these pages, I'll copy them to their actual location on the site, which will replace the old pages. But when I tried to do this as a test, I lost the css formatting. It seems that the css file is not stayed attached. Why?

    Thank you!

  • Help create hyperlinks in the text of CSS formatting

    I have trouble to add links using Dreamweaver. I first format the text with a CSS style, and then use the Properties window to add the hyperlink (or insert > menu hyperlink). It creates

    "< class p ="linkbodyleftcol"> < a href =" http://www.amcc.com "> GCCA < / has > < / p > "

    However, when I place the cursor on the GCCA in the design window, most of the CSS styles I see in the menu Styles CSS is blocked with a message "..." How does not apply to your selection because it is not inherited. It is applied to a closing tag. »

    To fix this, I change the code to:

    "< a href =" http://www.amcc.com "> < p class ="linkbodyleftcol"SMAC < /p > < / a >"

    And this clears the error. However, there must be a more efficient way to add links while maintaining the CSS formatting. Could someone report it by a better method?

    Best regards, - gary

  • New to css formatting

    Hello

    I tried to transition in the css formatting for our Web site designs and I am having some problems.

    Please visit http://wcmhcnet.wmsgroup.com/about.html and you will see that I can not get the div to left navigation to extend the foot regardless of the amount of content is in the body. I read a little, but I'm too new to get it I guess!

    You will also notice that the photo header will not display for me. I've tried a few things to fix but? I've also attached the css.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    There are a few different ways to get this div at the height of the content div, but it can be complicated to implement and problematic. Honestly, your layout is a prime candidate for the "faux columns".

    You just create a gif image that is 1px high and 'x' pixels wide, the same blue color as your browsing history. The gif width is the width of your navigation.
    Then, apply the gif as the background image for your wrapper div place it to the left and repeat vertically.
    The color will go down and look like the navigation column goes down.
    It works very well.

    For more information.

    Fake columns CSS

    Hope that helps.

  • Select validation Spry and css formatting does not together, class issue?

    Hello people,

    I hope someone can help with the following, was stuck on this during 2 days and I am about to lose my mind.

    1.) it will not validate but my css works.

    < div >

    < span id = "BoardMember" >

    < select class = "turnintodropdown_demo2" name = "FundingSource_BoardMember" id = "BoardMember" >

    < option value = "" > member of the < / option >

    < option value = "1" > 1 < / option >

    < option value = "2" > 2 < / option >

    < option value = "3" > 3 < / option >

    < option value = "4" > 4 < / option >

    < option value = "5" > 5 < / option >

    < option value = "6" > 6 < / option >

    < option value = "7" > 7 < / option >

    < / select >

    </span >

    < / div >

    --------------------------------------------------------

    2.) if I remove the class: "turnintodropdown_demo2" validation works, but my breaks of css.

    < div >

    < span id = "BoardMember" >

    < select name = "FundingSource_BoardMember" id = "BoardMember" >

    < option value = "" > member of the < / option >

    < option value = "1" > 1 < / option >

    < option value = "2" > 2 < / option >

    < option value = "3" > 3 < / option >

    < option value = "4" > 4 < / option >

    < option value = "5" > 5 < / option >

    < option value = "6" > 6 < / option >

    < option value = "7" > 7 < / option >

    < / select >

    </span >

    < / div >

    --------------------------------------------------------

    3.) span id = 'BoardMember' is the spry validation, but adding the = "turnintodropdown_demo2" class breaks validation.

  • with a 2 drive formatting issues to WD cannot format passed 1 TB (931 gb)

    I have a problem of formatting with my new 2 Terabyte Western Digital Drive using Windows tools (computer management: storage: disk management)

    I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP2 all patches current
    ASUS P5NSLI MB (award bios) bios is more recent (1801) of the site of ASUS
    Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EADS is 2 TB drive

    I can't format beyond the point of 1 TB if I do formatting in windows full it stops at 54% and crashes if I do a formatting quick I get an IO error. I've already replaced the drive once through new eggs. the replacement drive is having the exact same issues. full format stops at 54% or quick format gives me a failure.

    If I partiion drive (usually get mistakes of e/s through the windows Disk Manager) I can create a partion of 1 TB and sucessfully do a quick format. Player appears to sucessfully read and files right. I made several transfers of multi GB files to this partion sucessfully. However the rest of 1 TB is not able to be formatted or partitioned through the windows. I get an IO error every time. I also tried to expand the disk through windows unsucessfully, it will not alow me or to increase the 1 TB storage. (931 GB).

    try a different aproach I downloaded the WD diagnostic tools executed through vista and they always give me an error "cable" in vista. I replaced the cables 2 x just to dismiss it as a problem. (I ran other readers on this port sata very well with the same cables).

    I also used what seems to be successfully using gparted (linux) to format the drive to NTFS. GParted reported a success on the format, but look in windows it usually shows as a drive of 1 MB for some reason any. tweak in windows, that I managed to access a partition of 1 TB. The part funny though when I express this partition to its maximum, this is where things get weird. The reader in vista Disk Manager displays as a 1963,1 GB disk but look through 'My computer' its only shows a 931 GB drive empty.

    I'm at my wits end trying to figure this. I made many calls to western digital and Asus to see if it is a bios issue or a conversation about drive failure nearly goes like this. Western Digital blamed the bios, Asus gripe with vista.

    Can someone help me?

    See this discussion on the gaming PC from HP, the final post on page 2 forum:

    http://www.thenextbench.com/HPG/board/message?board.ID=desktops&thread.ID=7453&view=by_date_ascending&page=2

    -----------
    I have just solved this problem for my HP Blackbird PC and am now able to easily partition and format a new Seagate 2 TB internal hard drive of 32-bit Vista running on this PC.

    The solution was to update my drivers Nvidia 680i chipset, available in a package update of Nvidia, not through normal driver of Microsoft and pages of OS update as much as I know.  See the above URL for more details.

    I had already tried using a stand-alone and formatting utility drive partition and even if I could create and do a quick format of the drive 2 TB, it would still fail software database to hard drive diagnostics, falsely showing hard drive looking for errors.  Also, when I ran the Windows chkdsk/f/r half of the hard drive has been marked as containing bad sectors, which later proved to be false.  After the update of the driver, no material errors are produced and no large number of defective sectors found.

    It's a problem of confusion since it seems due to disk problems hard or maybe a Vista problem.  Actually, I only update my SATA controller driver, which is Nvidia nForce 680i driver in my case.  NVIDIA has a web page with a script that will scan your PC and tell you what you need to update, for the GPU and their nForce chipset SATA hard drive controller drivers.

    Seagate also has a page to discuss the need to update the nForce drivers, which can be true for drivers of other manufacturers.

  • Formatting issues

    Can someone help me with why when I open my files for a particular site, the formatting files is disabled? Also, I'm working on 2 different sites and when I open a file from a site, I get a dialog box with a list of all sites. I then click on the site that I'm trying, then click done. What is the right way?

    My most pressing question is the formatting because my backup are very well and when I copy in the current folder for this site, the formatting is off.

    Thank you.

    Put all the site files and assets in separate physical locations on your hard drive.

    C:\Site1\

    C:\Site2\

    etc...

    Define sites in DW by going to Site > new Site or manage Sites.  Say DW where the local site folder.  Repeat for other sites.

    If you encounter problems with the appearance, validate your code to make sure that no error code.

    Go to window > results > Validation

    Or use the following online validation services:

    CSS - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

    HTML5 - https://validator.w3.org/nu/

  • Positioning of elements of the CSS. format my header and keep him in a position fixed?

    I have a few things here. Any help would be grateful. Thank you in advance.

    I was styling my head, and it has become a bit more complex, kind of looked a little crazy. So I'm all stripping back so that I can totally understand how everything can be placed on a page (via the widths of margins, paddings, heights, line-heights etc. But even through a few tuts lynda.com, I always find it a bit confusing how control the positions of my items on the page. As you can see I have colored the colors of different backgrounds so that the items are easier to see. As well as the screenshots I posted ONLY relevant CSS/HTML

    First of all, I use my head as my banner at the top of the page, which includes my h1, menu navigation nav text logo and links from social network button.

    However, there is about a 10-20px gap/gray bar at the top of the page, which I suppose is my body (so the same color). I want to know how can transparent so that the Red header at the top is completely.

    Screen Shot 2015-09-12 at 10.39.00.png

    Screen Shot 2015-09-12 at 10.43.49.png

    Next is social networking buttons (green). Above you can see that they are placed to the right of the page. However, given that I fixed the header so that it remains at the top of the page social buttons to go directly to the left of the page. Now I can solve this by using padding on the left side. This pushes the right buttons, but I really don't see that as a real solution, rather a twisted. I want to move the section to the right, not use margins and others to push the element.

    Screen Shot 2015-09-12 at 15.44.48.png

    Here is the HTML and CSS section for this part. You will see that I commented on a part of the code to try to figure out what is the issue. Feel free to play with it.

    I appreciate that very much. Thank you.

  • A group of Radio with a class CSS formatting

    With the help of APEX 4.2.3.00.08

    I created this css class called rb1 in my section of the HTML header.

    < style type = "text/css" >

    RB1 {- webkit - appearance: none;}

    background-color: #C9EFF3;

    border: 1px solid #cacece;

    box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba (0,0,0,0.05), insert 0px-10px 15px-rgba (0,0,0,0.05) 12px;

    padding: 3px;

    border-radius: 3px;

    display: inline-block;

    ' position: relative '.

    }

    < / style >

    I put < rb1 > and < / rb1 > tags around one of my headers element and sure enough, it works fine.

    Now, I would use rb1 as setting style in shape for the members of a group of radio buttons.

    I don't know (or at least I think I know) of this blog http://vincentdeelen.blogspot.com/2013/11/pimp-my-site.html that "these classes can be added to the attributes page field items, in the attribute"Class CSS of HTML Form element", under the heading 'Elément'."  But my question is: exactly what is happening in this field element form HTML CSS Classes ?  I tried just a plain rb1, < rb1 >, class = "rb1" and so on.  There seems to be a lack of useful documentation - I can't find a doc that tells exactly what to put in this field or in what format.  For example, a search of the documentation Oracle APEX site can't find any occurrences of the string "Classes CSS élément HTML Form" at all.

    Anyway, no matter what I tried, in this area, and in the two fields below, the formatting of radio button does not change.

    However, I can directly this code in the element form attributes Option:

    style = "- webkit - appearance: none;" background-color: #C9EFF3; border: 1px solid #cacece;      box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba (0,0,0,0.05), insert 0px-10px 15px-rgba (0,0,0,0.05) 12px;      padding: 3px;      border-radius: 3px; »

    And indeed is implementing in the shape I want.  But unfortunately, this field has a length limited, and it kind of defeats, the goal of creating a reusable CSS class, isn't?

    What escapes me, please?

    Hello

    I think it's the best place CSS inline, in the title of the page CSS.

    Anyway your style selector is false. For the class, it should be like this

    .rb1 {
     -webkit-appearance: none;
     background-color: #C9EFF3;
     border: 1px solid #cacece;
     box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.05), inset 0px -15px 10px -12px rgba(0,0,0,0.05);
     padding: 3px;
     border-radius: 3px;
     display: inline-block;
     position: relative;
    }

    Point of note before rb1. This means that it is class

    Then you place just rb1 to Classes CSS to HTML form elements

    Kind regards

  • EPUB formatting issues.

    Hello

    I read that the epub format does not support tabs. What should I do as a substitute? Support real regular space of spaces instead?

    What would you say to paragraph returns... use the 'back' button to add the major flaws in the space between the content if necessary? Think if I have a title page with the title in half top of the "page" and then the author name on half lower.

    Finally, I read there is no page break (for obvious reasons), but to separate my chapters intentionally, what is the technique to use? I read somewhere that you can make a photo frame box, pixelation, etc... Looking for best practices; What is the standard method?

    Finally, if someone is good enough with HTML / CSS, should we even bother using InDesign? Is it better to layout in Dreamweaver with a style sheet that accompanies it?

    Thanks for your comments!

    Hello

    On the last few versions, InDesign has been focused on improving the export EPUB workflow and makes it easier for users to post an EPUB that is valid and can be submitted directly to the ebookstores without the absolute necessity for users to make manual changes in the HTML/CSS supplement unless one wants according to his workflow.

    The following list of the improvements that we have made in the CC and version 9.2:

    Point multiple returns is not honoured and converted into a paragraph return. To reach the spaces between paragraphs, you can specify the space before and after in the dialog box paragraph style options. What are mapped to properties CSS-top of margin and margin from the bottom and could be used to achieve the same visual appearance.

    To separate your chapters, you can opt for the sharing of your EPUB that you can get through paragraph styles. In the dialog box styles options section, there is an option to export section of marking which is called as "Document from Split (EPUB only).  If this box is checked, you can select this paragraph style in the dialog box exporting EPUB to divide your EPUB when this paragraph style is encountered and create multiple xhtml files.

    You can also insert objects page breaks to start your chapter on a new page, but in a single xhtml file. For example, suppose you have an image at the end of the chapter, you can specify "Page break Insert after" on this subject so that the content after it appears on the new page.

    Kind regards
