Database dead XE?

Hello. I'm not very well informed when it comes to work s/n, but I hit a snag and would welcome a little advice. I have an Oracle XE installation on my home computer to track sales and other revenue. Recently, I could not connect to the APEX and started looking into it. When I tried to connect with SQL +, I would get the message:

ERROR:
GOLD-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutting

Then I stopped and started the DB, checked to see the listening service was going on and still have the issue. I checked my alert_xe.log file, and it's huge. Attached to the bottom, I've included a fragment of my log file which consists of the timestamp of last recent.

I have a script that runs on my computer which is an EXP every night on my diagram, but if I try a little DEVIL, I get the same message (which makes sense since my DB apparently isn't running).

What would be your suggestions? I wanted some advice before I uninstalled and reinstalled then imported my backups of dmp.

Thanks to all the Necromancers who can help me to wear this back from the dead!

Kerry.

I would usually without reservation agree with that, but I think that XE only lets you install one instance per server. I have not tried to see if it is a restriction of license or a technical restriction enabled by the installer, but I'm not sure you can get a second XE database running on the server.

And while there are tools that can recover data from old data files, because the free Oracle version is used, these tools are probably not an option - I think not that Oracle DUL is available if you have a support that is not available on XE contract and competitors are pretty darn expensive. If the data is not important enough for the need of a commercial version of the database with support, patches, etc., it is probably not enough important license one of these tools.

  • How can I transfer from a (dead) Drive Skype conversations hard to another?

My drive hard main default to loading windows so I have installed on another hard drive and still have access to the files on the old HARD drive then, how can I transfer my story of my old HDD to my new conversations?

The only file you need to transfer is the main.db database file.

On your 'dead' drive, you should find this file in:

    Z:\Users\your username win\AppData\Roaming\Skype\your Skype name.

Transfer this file to the folder corresponding to the new disk.

Don't forget to replace the main.db file newly created by the copied file.

Also make sure that Skype is totally turned off when you transfer this file.

  • Problems to remove a dead area of the pinned item files link

    Hello

I have a user who has an icon of dead in the pinned to the start menu item box.  It is a .pdf document that I can't find on his computer, so I guess she has deleted it.  He can not find by doing a search through the registry database.  I simply can't right-click on the icon because it causes Explorer to crash.  I then have to to bring up the Task Manager, to complete the process on exploring and then restart it.

Does anyone know where in the registry database, windows Explorer, or a tool would allow me to remove this icon?  IE and Outlook appear and work fine, it's just this .pdf file that freezes everything.

    Thank you

    Hello PS-Phil,

Start the computer in Mode safe and try to remove the pinned item and check if you are able to remove it successfully.

Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

  • database of songs vs clarification of usable storage capacity

Any new rocket today. My 2 year old Toshiba Gigabeat is dead - like, but the battery capacity was pitiful. Have a Shure headphones and look forward to this player.

I read a few posts on storage and this issue has been raised.

Question: A poster wrote that Sansa Fuze has capacity of 4000 songs "database".   Database suggests to me that the "brain" can manage, sort, file, bookmark, select and play, etc. up to 4000 entries (songs).   How is it that is related to internal vs storage card Micro SD?

I took a Spanish course at GB 5.4 on internal memory and are planning to buy an SD card for storing music and photos added.  I can get up to a 16 GB card, but need to know if this problem of 'database' limit how much storage can be used.  If Yes, I'll get get a 4 or 8, because adults are not cheap.

Thank you for your patience and know how.

    Rick W.

    Salem, Oregon

Will be difficult to surpass the 4000 songs at bitrates > 128 K and the next firmware will increase the limit.

The maximum number of songs taken currently supported 4000.

New firmware is due to this quarter.

Oh, I see, I didn't know that that was part of the error message.

I just run the SQLiteDemo in the OS 7.1 9900 Simulator that comes installed with the 7.1 Eclipse plug.  It works fine (once I had added the SD card of course).  If you can't run it, then I suspoect you have something very corrupted in your installation.  I re-download and reinstall Eclipse from here:

    Hello

an OSPF router generates only a router-LSA (Type-1) by Area. This router-LSA contains a list with all the links in this area.

You can see your telesignalisations with 'show ip ospf router of database' - 'show ip ospf database' rather an overview:

    Router Link States (Area 0)Link ID ADV Router Age Seq# Checksum Link count9.9.12.1 9.9.12.1 326 0x80000028 0x00BE86 3
Router 9.9.12.1 announces a router-LSA for area 0 and the LSA contains 3 links. Apparently, you created the Loopback IPs when adjacency was already formed, if not the router ID would be defined the highest loopback IP (maybe that's the reason for your confusion). HTHRolf

I would say that I'll go and do a TNSPING, check the Listerner.ora entries. If Windows I will tell me that I'll check Services.

but so far, it seems that they are not happy with my answer.

So I ask each of you to tell me how I should answer.

I know it's the open question but how should I tell them in a nuttshell.

Well - until now I disagree with ALL of the other answers!

IMHO the FIRST STEP in ANY troubleshooting task is to CONFIRM that the problem really exists.

The KEY part of this confirmation is to get ALL the information available to the person reporting the issue. In an interview which is SIMPLE - the person reporting the issue is sitting right in front of you. So instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off you should begin by asking a few key questions:

    1. you said that the data is not running

    a. IS IT supposed TO BE running - that would be my VERY FIRST question!

    b. How do you know this? A user did report it to you? Have you tried to use yourself?

    c. How do confirm you the DB was down? Have what measures you taken?

    d. What do you mean by DOWN? Stone cold dead? Running but not accessible to business users? Running but inaccessible to anyone including DBA?

    e. what other information you have about the problem? Have you checked the log of alerts? When was the last time it was running normally? What could have happened since then to bring it down? There were backups or scheduled maintenance tasks?

    2. you said that it does not start

    a. How do you know this?

    b. did you try to start it yourself?

    c. how the restart was attempted? how much? where (what machine)?

    d. what command they use? They use 'EM? Or a console?

    (e) what has been the result? What has been the response on the console (if the console has been used) what has been the result if EM has been used?

Your answer to that seemingly simple question should have been to about a dozen questions of your own like I did just above. There is NOTHING to do, IMHO, before getting THE news AND ALL of the one who reports the problem - that includes interviewers.

Disappoint my more great in interviews is when otherwise intelligent people are so reluctant to ask questions to get the information they need to understand and confirm the question/problem.

The above is why I "disagreed" with the other responses made so far. Certainly, the alerts log is important and must be checked. But it's a lot easier knowing what the person concerned (interviewer) know asking them just before starting to run. As far as we know that the interviewer was ready to tell you what the alert log say if you just ask.

My rule #1 in an interview: ASK QUESTIONS!

Anyone who is not asking questions in my interviews gets demerits. I can train someone how to solve problems and perform DBA tasks. But I found it almost IMPOSSIBLE to tell when they don't know something if they don't ask questions or tell me "I don't know".

If someone just asking these questions above this would indicate to me that they know how to FIND the information they need, even if they don't know yet how to use this information.

  • How to reach the sequence in the database adapter query?

    Hi all

I try voting records of the DB who gets the power from the external ERP system event. If the ORDER is important. I need to run these in order and I'm running in the environment in clusters (4 nodes). This parallelism is dead my processing sequence. I already used "Order By" in the configuration of the database adapter which does not guarantee the 100% according to the doc Oracle sequence.

    All the entries here?

    Thank you!!

It is a classic problem, and it's not easy to solve... in fact I tend to think that it would be easier to re-design it, so you can have idempotent operations that don't depend on order, so you can unleash the power of a cluster multi environment... It is paradoxical to have such a power, and must treat a record after another like the old days...

In any case, in reality, you can try with the mediator resequencer...

    https://docs.Oracle.com/middleware/1213/soasuite/develop-SOA/mediator-Resequencer.htm#SOASE85099

The resequencer pick transposes in a related message flow but out of sequence in a sequential order. When the inbound messages arrive, they can be in random order. The resequencer ordered messages based on sequential or chronological information and then sends messages to the services target in an orderly manner. The sequencing is done based on the strategy of the selected sequence.

  • Where (drive, folder, file name) are database files that store information to catalog such as tags and changed the dates in the 13 elements?

I want just the datebae file which contains the data of the backup catalog.  I can't find it in the 13 elements but could not in 10 items.  Is it hidden in a secret file with a secret name?  Why?

The catalog is a file containing the main database (catalog.pse13db), the cache of thumbnails (thumb.5.cache) and other files and subfolders. To save a catalog, you save the entire catalog with its subfolders. Note that if you do not save the thumbnail cache (which is the largest element in the catalog), it will be rebuilt automatically.

In all versions of elements, Win or Mac, you can find its location on the menu: help/information system.

By default, it is in a folder hidden in Windows.

Why? I don't know, but you can tell Windows Explorer to show hidden files. It is up to you; I always do.

The catalog must always be in the default location? Not at all. You can move it elsewhere. For example, you can maintain your catalogue and your picture library on an external drive. Then, watch as catalog manager being "custom position".

What follows is not in your question, but I assume you are asking only for backup purposes. If you have an external backup system, you must include the catalog folder. It is not enough if you want to restore to another computer or a drive, because the original is dead. The catalog stores the location of the image files with respect to the path, but also for the internal serial number of the drive. Change drive means that all the files appear 'disappeared' or 'disconnected' and you will have to run a procedure to "reconnect". Reconnection is necessary if you are using the internal backup/restore process in the Organizer.

Using Backup, Restore to move the catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later version

If you are not in the case of an accident, but you simply want to update (enclosed updated version PES), the integrated system is ideal.

Other backup systems have their advantages. I use SyncToy Windows after each session of significant change and the backup of the organiser at regular intervals.

  • What will happen if immediate restore session / cancel stop of the database?

I have a long session restoration after I killed him. Session state is 'DEAD' and when I check the transaction of $ v, it will take nearly 24 hours to a complete restoration. We can not wait if a long time because we have another job dependencies need restoration must be completed as soon as possible. In the end, we plan to stop immediately. This will help? What will happen to the restore session if we issue immediate shutdown or shutdown abort? Is the restoration completed successfully?

If you SHUTDOWN ABORT when there are very many active transactions or be restored, then the default FAST_START_PARALLEL_ROLLBACK that occurs at the start of subsequent proceedings in fact means that the restore is performed more quickly.
However, if it is a large single transaction as a DELETION on a table with an Index, it is best to disable FAST_START_PARALLEL_ROLLBACK before restarting the Instance immediately after a SHUTDOWN ABORT. Parallel cancellation of a single important transaction with an Index can be slower!

FAST_START_PARALLEL_ROLLBACK is a parameter instance that LOW as default (IE a value of 2 x CPU_COUNT) and can be set to HIGH or FALSE.

Note: If you SHUTDOWN ABORT and START the database, Oracle has to do a Rollforward of Redo Logs (for data blocks that have not been updated) before that, an OPEN. It is generally a very fast operation. Uncomitted transaction cancellation is an operation delayed - this means that the restore is initiated by SMON or parallel slaves after the database is OPEN. If a block containing a row that has been updated and not committed is referenced by a database session after OPENING, but before it has been restored, made Oracle a rollback accelerated this line of the block and then continues to the restoration of other lines in the background.

Thus, if the transaction had been on the Table 'A' and the database is SHUTDOWN ABORT and commissioning, users can still access and update of all other tables other than table 'A', while the transaction is put in place, in the background, after the OPENING.
