Date type column cannot be sorted in Discoverer Plus report

Hi gurus,

I have a situation here. I developed a relationship with the transferor, Created_by, Creation_date table gl_je_headers. I am able to get the data I want in the report and it works fine.

But, when I want to sort date_creation high to low or low to high, it does not work...

Any help would be appreciated.

What is a table or PivotTable report?

First, edit the spreadsheet, goto to the sort tab, then make sure that the date of creation is at the top of the list of sorted items.

If this does not work, see the SQL code to the Inspector in SQL and verify that the fields are in ORDER BY the end of the SQL. The creation date field must be the first field in the order of.

I have a table with too many lines (lines more than 2000000). I changed the data type (NUMBER of VARCHAR2) of an indexed column (the index is only for this column), using a temporary backup table:

CREATE TABLE BKTABLE AS SELECT FIELD, ROWID AS IDROW ORIGNALTABLE;
UPDATE ORIGNALTABLE SET FIELD = NULL;
ALTER ORIGNALTABLE CHANGE THE FIELD VARCHAR2 (256);
ORIGNALTABLE UPDATE A FIELD SET = (SELECT FIELD OF BKTABLE B WHERE B.IDROW = A.IDROW);

This way worked OK.

There is no performance problem knew about the ORIGNALTABLE index? Need to rebuild this index?

Someone you will suggest why timestamp data type columns are not imported into admin. discoverer other types of data import you correctly, but the timestamp data type columns are missed.

You will be disappointed because the timestamp columns are not one of the recognized data types supported by the discoverer. He acknowledges only dates, strings and (integer and decimal) numbers.

Maybe you could put up a view that matches the table you use, convert the timestamp in a rather ordinary date?

Then, inside your end-user license, all you would have to do is redirect the folder to view.

I need to increase the length of a CHAR of a table data type column (currently it's tank (3) and you want to change to char (4)). Here are more details on the table:-
- Contains more than 20 million lines.
- Table contains several indexes.
- Table is referenced by several tables (about 60 tables) and it refers to several tables (about 3)
- Table has 4 complex triggers. Triggers call procedures and packages.
What I've tried so far

1 disabled all triggers and ran ALTER statement to increase the length. It took hours and did not finish in a reasonable amount of time, even if no error, but it took more than 12 hours.
2 tried DBMS_REDEFINITION package but it does not work with the standard version of Oracle 10 g.
I think to try next

Say my name of the existing table is OLD_T1 where the length of column need to increase
-Create a copy (with increased column length) table of OLD_T1, Say NEW_T1
-Move data from in OLD_T1 to the new table NEW_T1
-Lower OLD_T1 (or rename it to OLD_T1_TMP)
-Rename NEW_T1 to OLD_T1
-Create all indexes, triggers, constraints etc..
I wish to confirm, if my approach is correct? Or someone has a better idea to do this?
Please note: I know that the CHAR data type gives the problem but it is an old system and I don't have authority to change the design of database.

Access to columns of data type "uniqueidentifier" I get error [nQSError: 43119]:-the data type: 25 is not supported.
- OBIEE 11.1.1.6.11 on Linux x86_64 servers is hosted by the Services of Oracle Cloud.
- Using last "ODBC driver for SQL server 11" for connection (also tried driver "DataDirect SQL Server 6.0 native Wire Protocol").
- No "Uniqueidentifier" data type columns display correctly in reports.
- I tried to change the columns of data type "Uniqueidentifier" to char (36), VARCHAR (36), VARCHAR (40), types of binary data (16) in the physical layer on various suggestions but error still there.
Same columns questioned the SQL Developer (using third-party jTDS JDBC driver "jtds - 1.2.7 - dist") I am able to see these "uniqueidentifier" data columns. record sample:-"CB350576-FCD8-DE11-B111-002219598619".

Please advice if this is a bug or I'm missing some property of SQL server database settings.

This type of column becomes UNKNOWN when they are imported into SPR but its strange after changing to VARCHAR (36), we can use it for joining tables without any problem.

Only issue I'm facing now is the limitation to use in queries like calculate the total number of incidents (in my case incidentid is the primary key).

But I've found a workaround. I am formulating a measure in MDB layer to get the number of total incidents as {CASE WHEN is NULL then 0 otherwise 1 END}. the aggregation is defined on the sum and I get incident count works correctly.

using a column having the nvl char data type...
The entity table has 4 records with 'X' account status and 42 records with account_status with null.

Select * entity where nvl (account_status, 'X') = 'X '.

When I run the query above, must be extracted all 46 records but only 42 records with only statement null is read.

Also when I run the query below

Select * entity where nvl(account_status,'T') = 'X '. No line is fethced.

The account_status column is char data type.

When I use the same type of query with a number data type column it works correctly.

NVL work differently for the char data will type column? Could someone help me on this? I don't know if I am wrong anywhere.

vesrion of Oracle that I use here is Oracle 10 g.

How to recover the data type of a column in a table?

I want to retrieve the data type of a column in a table. At the moment I'm querying attribute 'OCI_ATTR_DATA_TYPE', but it is SQLT_CHR varchar2 and nvarchar2 data type columns. I need to make a distinction between these columns of two separate data types. Y at - it all API through which I could get the exact data type of a column, i.e. "nvarchar2?

It is not a very direct way to do it. What you can do is to call OCIDescribeAny on the table that you want to get information. You can then get the OCI_ATTR_CHARSET_FORM attribute for the column. If the value of the attribute that you get is SQLCS_IMPLICIT, that would mean its a varchar/char/varchar2 column regular. If you get SQLCS_NCHAR, this means that the column is NCHAR. How to handle the data type DECIMAL MySQL converted to DOUBLE in OBIEE 10 gR 3?
Hi all

I have a problem in OBIEE 10g to I use the MySQL database as datasource direct to the server of the OBI and I have a column in a MySQL table which was designed as the DECIMAL data type (18.0).
This column is used to measure a length, and values are included in seconds (without decimals), in the form as:
"1200"
in the MySQL database.

After the import of the MySQL table associated with the repository of the OBI, the OBIEE converts the DECIMAL data type column to the DOUBLE PRECISION data type automatically.

My goal is to reach the values in this form, certainly in the sense of the term (not at the time!):
hh mm ss

In order to accomplish, I tried to change the format of column with the ROUND function:
ROUND (db.table.column / * 3600 * 2)

The problem is that it doesn't work well if values can be divided with no rest for example
original value: 7200
new value (ROUND): 2

In the case of my example:
original value: 1200
new value (ROUND): 0
It's false, because 1200 seconds are not equal to 0 hours, I want to see two hours of _0.33333_ OR I much prefer more _0 hour 20 m_

Anyone have any ideas?
I tried to make a view of database and importing that type of CHAR data in the database, but is not the solution too, because if I filter BI app or try to make a SUM the BI would drop errors...

correct syntax is
ALTER TABLE.
MOVE the LOB ()
STORE AS (tablespace );

Where is a name of the / columns LOB, not the name of the segment. Moving type LOB data will move its indexes as well.
