    Hello:

    I have a dc7600 CMT initially provided with the P4 640 processor. I installed the Pentium D 945 sSpec SL9QQ.

Works very well and I can definitely see an improvement in performance. I also installed Windows 7 on it, and the side of processor rose in the KPI Windows (WEI).  I don't remember how, but since you can get one of these processors for less than $40 USD, you can as well max out.

You will need to have BIOS version 1.56 A or newer to install a PD 945. If you only have the version installed, you can as well Flash to the latest version.

NOT FLASH the BIOS if you run Windows 7. You have to have XP or Vista on your PC to use the windows based flash or you can make your PC unusable.

Follow other precautions to take if you need to Flash your BIOS.

    Hi Ryan,

Contact Crucial and Crucial official recommendation.  If you buy directly from Crucial, then they will stand behind their products.

Your first consideration should be Support HP or HP sales during the consideration of upgrades or replacement of memory. If you want to consider other manufacturers of the best way to avoid memory problems is to contact one of the leading manufacturers of memory. I would recommend that you try the tools of these manufacturers: Corsair, Kingston andCrucial. Once you have determined the DIMMs that you need, then contact commercial or technical support to check that you have selected the correct DIMMS. If you buy directly from manufacturers, then they will stand behind their products.

  • Upgrading motherboard and CPU, can I keep the case?

    Hello

He was considering upgrading my motherboard and processor in my Pavilion HPE h8-1020 with a motherboard ASUS Rampage Gene IV and a processor Intel Core i7-3960 x but I have two questions:

    (1) even if the mother is form Micro ATX factor, (supposed to be the same as the case form factor I've had with my h8-1020) will be the motherboard in the case so they still features with card readers, USB ports and LED?

    (2) Will Upgrading the major portions of my PC problems for the Original (Windows 7 64-bit) operating system that currently reside on my hard drive?

I love the current aesthetics of my case and the system.  Hoping I can keep most of the features I currently have.  Thank you, your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Look at models of bolt between two motherboards.  The i/o HP plate will not work with the ASUS card sort should use the i/o ASUS plate (hope it fits).  The ASUS Q-connector will help your with the front pin but write down it to the bottom of the function for each connector.

Case diagrams should not be done.

I want to install (I hope) soon new motherboard and CPU and I was looking for how to guide to reinstall vista after upgrade of the motherboard. Is it possible to get to the office without big hazzle and start reinstalling from there.

In fact, I want to reinstall vista because I think it's much easier to try to record all programs and other settings.

I tried to use already search funtion and it did not the asnwer I was looking for.

I have oem (at least it says in the box) version of vista 32 bit.

If the motherboard is exactly the same or almost exactly the same there should be no problem.  Otherwise you will want to completely reinstall Vista or even your system will contain drivers for the hardware is no longer present or missing drivers for the new hardware on the motherboard.

The motherboard has reached its limit to upgrading I elieve.

I think replace by a better motherboard that can handle more CPU and Ram.

    What choices do I have?

    thanx

Through the Optiplex 780, the chassis has remained the same - that said, you're better off buying a new (or a more recent version) upgrade of the system.

You will find all the systems in the range of $200-300 - not much more that it will cost for a single pension + CPU + RAM.

  • Can I use Dell original product key to activate a clean Windows installation after I have replace/upgrade motherboard, processor and other key components?

I have a Dell computer, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed in the factory. There is a product code for windows on the sticker on the box. My problem is that the motherboard and CPU are released. I intend to replace and update the motherboard failed and cpu, ram, power supply, optical drive and eventually put in a larger hard drive. From what I read, I can not simply start the machine with the original hard drive, with windows already installed and activated. So if I wipe the hard drive (or put it in a new), can I clean install Windows 7 and then just use the product key on the sticker on the box to activate the new installation? Or what I need to buy a new copy of Windows 7?

I've also read on other threads, that you can "transfer" a license of Windows 7 on a different machine only if it is a "commercial" version, not OEM. If the version of Windows that is preinstalled on a Dell computer would be "retail" or "OEM"? And to reactivate the software on a rebuilt/updated machine up-to-date with the new motherboard, etc. would constitute a 'transfer to a new machine' or reactivation just on a computer upgraded?

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Upgrade motherboard HP Xenon 4 CPU, socket 478 (former lodge a310.uk)

Many threads on processor set to level, but could not find my particular case. I have an old HP Pavilion PC Home (UK) a310.uk, with Xenon 4 socket 478 Celeron processor, motherboard (MSI MS-6577 v 2.1). This motherboard is shared by a great many HP machines.

When the machine is old, it's convenient to keep it all works. Another motherboard failed recently and I have useful parts, including a 2.4 GHz HT Northwood Pentium4, a socket 478 processor 69W. The HP page for this machine refers to a list of compatible processors, but I can't find the list. In principle, this processor is certainly compatible with the motherboard, but I'm not sure that the BIOS will support it. I think the original processor is a 2.6 GHz Celeron, probably SL6VV or SL6W5, s478, 63W (specifications of the machine, yet did nothing). I expect the 2.4 GHz HT Pentium 4 to be better than the 2.6 GHz Celeron, and it's to go out begging.

Question 1: can someone tell me the list of compatible processors, or tell me if 2.4 GHz Northwood is about that, please?

Q2: If the BIOS does not support the processor, I understand that a BIOS MSI less restricted for non-MSI_MS-6577 v 2.1 which can support the Northwood, while available, will not work on the version of HP. Is this fair?

    Thank you.

Question 1: can someone tell me the list of compatible processors, or tell me if 2.4 GHz Northwood is about that, please?  It is a strange situation.  I couldn't find a list of compatible processors.  It is normally in the specifications of the product.  I even found another model with the same motherboard and they had the same information as yours.

    Hi-

Want to update my motherboard with faster cpu, I searched on intel and this site and there are so many chips... does anyone have an answer would like to go with the intel 950 but not sure on that. I thought I saw a similar question and answer here but cannot find. Motherboard is PN 381028-001

    Thank you

    Hello:

The fastest CPU you can install it in the DC 7600 is the Pentium D 945 or 950.

They are both the same speed, but the 950 a VT (virtualization technology). They also cost more.

I went with the cheapest sSpec SL9QQ 945.  If you have need of VT, continue with the 950.

See this post below and you'll have all the info you should update. You will need to have the latest version of the BIOS and the firmware installed.
