The SQL reference for 10.2 manual...

deallocate_unused_clause

Use the deallocate_unused_clause to explicitly release the unused space at the end of the table, partition or subpartition, segment overflow data, segment of LOB data and LOB index and make space available for other segments in the tablespace.

shrink_clause

The retraction clause allows manually shrink the space in a table, table arranged according to index or its overflow segment, index, partition, subpartition, LOB segment, materialized view, or newspaper materialized view. This clause is valid only for the segments in the tablespaces with automatic segment management. By default, Oracle database compact segment, adjusts the HWM and frees the space recovered immediately.

Compaction of the segment requires the movement of the line. Therefore, you must enable the movement of line for the object you want to cut before you specify this clause. In addition, if your application contains the rowid-based triggers, you must disable them before issuing this clause.

Or condense the above:

DEALLOCATE - simply releases unused space at the end of the segment; don't move not any data

Shrink - shrink space in a segment - requires line movement.

  • Shrinking Bootcamp partition and add space for Macintosh HD

Guys, after helping me with my previous question, my Macbook is almost as I want it to be. As said, I have a Macbook Pro 15 "retina end 2013 with OS X El Captain (later) and in addition, a Bootcamp with Windows partition 8.1." It's that everything works fine now, but the partition Windows 8.1 has 300 GB and my score only 80 GB hard drive Macintosh.

I wanted to shrink the partition, Bootcamp in Windows 8, 1 with Minitool Partition software but, obviously, when I reduce this score I get unallocated space that I can't turn into a new partition because I have 4 partitions in the MBR slot. So, what is the best way to reduce my Bootcamp partition and add space on the Macintosh HD partition?

    Thank you very much!

Remove the Boot Camp partition, and Windows using Boot Camp Assistant. Then start to affect the size of the Boot Camp partition you want.

  • Clean, defrag and shrink

Is there a whitepaper that explains these concepts?

In the VMWare documentation, each of these three topics (cleaning, defragmentation and Shrink) are discussed in overlapping a bit average.

In one place, he said "it's good to use the guest operating system facilities to defragment". In another place (settings & gt; Records) there is a 'clean' function, which mentions the Defrag in an ambiguous way, so that I do not know if the defragmentation operation is part of the own upward. Then, of course, there is the retractable function.

As a result, I have only a fuzzy understanding of the differences between and the relationship between these functions.

Are there really three separate functions? What is the relationship between them?

    jasimon9,

Here is a link that explains the difference between the three in one small detail:

    http://blogs.VMware.com/teamfusion/2008/10/tip-defragmenta.html

From what I can understand of the doc (jump in and correct me if I get this wrong, people), the distinctions are:

1 Defrag: fixed the distribution of comments from the files through the file system of comments

2 shrink: eliminates unused space in the vmdk files

3 cleaning: fixed Division of the comments file system files in the sparse vmdk files

Thus, the defragmentation is entirely contained in the comments. It affects the distribution of the files of comments on the virtual file system. However, the virtual file system may itself be fragmented across the vmdk files. Cleaning fixed this, so it affects how VMWare allocates files that make up the system of files of comments in the vmdk files. Shrinkage includes the vmdk files, get rid of unused space that accumulates over time.

  • "Querying volume for available shrink space" does not

I tried to create an empty partition on my 500 GB drive C (which I still have more than 350 GB free) to be able to dual boot another OS next to my already installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, but I encountered a problem from the beginning. While trying to shrink the space on drive C for the partition, the computer management hangs on 'Volume mark for available shrink space' for about a minute, and then said computer management "not responding". I have retried several times, and I still have the same result. I tried running "sfc/scannow" as administrator CMD, but there is no problems found. Afterwards, I checked errors on drive C, but the result is always the same. I don't know how to go further with this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Here are a few options:

    • Use a third-party disk manager, or a commercial (e.g. Acronis DiskDirector) or one that is free.
    • Use diskpart.exe in a command prompt if you are comfortable to work at this level. It might give you a more explicit feedback. Here is what you would see:

    d:\>Diskpart

  • Merge and shrink reform decision index

    Hello

I just wanted to know, have we not all orders with the thumb of rule / threshold, when to consider merging and shrink. As for rebuild blevel > 3%.

    Thank you.

Have you finished reading the presentation of Richard Foote? Don't think about anything until you have, you will waste a lot of time and resources otherwise.

Unless you can give some clear evidence and the explanation behind these formulas then I would well clear. It must be recognized that space in the index can be recovered as the space in a table, the only difference is that the values inserted must adapt (value wise) in space. And even when you don't naturally reuse space, it is usually quite indifferent.

Blevel is not a percentage, it is a whole number. It would take something substantial to increase the blevel of an index beyond how it was when the index was built. reconstruction of the index in most cases will keep this higher blevel and in other circumstances it won't take too long for the blevel to increase again if you don't win anything at the expense of the extra work.

ALTER table move would make invalid indexes and would require so rebuild you the index. In addition to him, it requires extra space in the tablespace, even that would be used for the creation of the object in double. So if you have a table of 10 GB, you need additional 10 GB free todo table alter move. Whereas in the narrowing is a place, the online operation, does not make you go and rebuild the index because it doesn't make them not disabled, requires no additional space to have.

Sometimes, I get this when I get emails. If I send an email and then go to the folder "sent" to see what I sent, there is a capital A with a carat on top after each sentence (but it seems that when I finished the sentence with a period and 2 spaces.)

I tried to change the fonts, but that doesn't seem to help. I suspect that what is originally it was made more when I transferred my files to the new Thunderbird.

Looks like the incorrect character encoding is used.

What character encoding you have set here:
Edit > Preferences > display > formatting tab
    Click on the button "Advanced".

    See my example below image

You can edit an image showing what you have selected, is much easier to type this.

You can try to select email then:

Try another encoding, note that this will be only temporary while e-mail.

  • Add or remove programs list has an extra space with black blocks and white space.

This problem causes the list to be VERY long with some programs listed at the top, and then, many white and black spaces blocked in betweent the rest of the programs.  I do not have autocad and I ran the .exe that true negative results in Exposeicon.  None of these have solved the problem.  I had this problem for a while, so I don't know what to install or uninstall caused this problem.  Does anyone know what anyone else for this problem?

    Thank you.

I did some more research online and found another thread on this problem.  I downloaded 'Add Remove Pro' from the list of items on the list provided by this software and a list of the computer gives me.  I uninstalled a few programs that have been identified between the programs before and after the empty space in the list given to me by the Add/Remove on my pc.  After you have uninstalled a few things that have been in the interval and restartig the pc, the empty space is left.

  • Mix records with the same name of the internal and external space (clip +)

    Hello

I have a question regarding the reading of 'File': if having a folder on the inside and external space microsd, both are named "graphics". Is it possible to shuffel these 2 files with the same name? There are also a few other folders I want to be included, so I just couldn't use the "play all" option. I don't want to use replay by id3tag because mines are always screwed up and would be a lot of work to mark all the appropriate files in the.

    Thanks for help

    m.

I've not played with playlists much.

If ID3 tags are all screwed up, I would use the MP3tag utility to change the label of the kind in "Charts" on internal and external memory, then you access the kind-> just Charts and play at all.  It is probably not an option if your labels are blank and you don't want to ruin you, but it's really quick & easy to do with MP3tag.

I think that even Windows Explorer (XP/Vista) can change the field type in the batch (select all 'charts' music files, click right properties, summary (Advanced) tab change the field of its kind in "Charts", OK).  I keep the ID3tags 'good' on my PC, but edit on my player according to the needs.

Just another idea which is really easy if you're not afraid of screwing the ID3 tags.
