Go to the control panel. There are several ways to do this, but the most common is to go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Control Panel" on the right side. Follow whatever it is more convenient for you.

    2. 2

Click on "user accounts" in the window that appears. Or, you see the standard view (with lines of icons) or the display of the categories (which is explicit). Both have a shortcut to the user accounts Control Panel.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I appreciate that you try to recover the data after the deletion of the user account in Windows Vista.

Since you've already deleted the user account, you would not be able to recover the data.

However, you can use any third party to the data recovery software.

NOTE: using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • You want to delete the user account from the computer and turn the computer on a workgrout or a homegroup.

Original title: My Windows 7 laptop is plugged in and not on a network. My lack of understanding of the work and networking groups made me make a mess in the implementation

I implemented 'users' as I could and now I find that in large part is loaded on my computer and I didn't need to have to deal with two identities to myself.  Can I fix or would it not be better to reinstall Windows a user, a set of files on all and the guest account will be switched off.  In addition, even though my computer says that it is a working group, the only internet connection I have is the LAN.  Can someone put me directly.

    Thanks in advance

  • Deleting a user account will also remove installed applications?

I recently had to create a different account on my Macbook because the application does not not on the initial user account (long story but not important for this). Now that my new account is set up, I would like to delete the original account. I'm afraid that if I do it all the applications installed on the original account will also be deleted... or will they? Can anyone help with an answer to this please?

Applications must be installed in the application and not in any user account. You can check by opening the Application folder and verify that the applications are installed.

Remove a user should not affect any application.

  • Deletion of user account for disk space

    Dear Sir or Madam:

Deleting a user will represent to free up more disk space on Windows XP?

This situation applies to Windows 7 and Windows 8?

    Please reply back soon.

    Thank you.

A "user account" in itself takes up very little space.  But once the user first logs on, Windows creates a 'profile' so that the user who can occupy a lot of space.  The profile includes all files used on the user's desktop and files under "My Documents" folder of the user (among others) which may be quite large, but includes everything what preferences and user files.

In Windows XP, you can see the amount of space used by each user profile to:

Right click on "My Computer"-> properties-> (Advanced tab)-> settings (in the user profile Section)

If you have permission, you can select a profile and click on the 'Delete' button to free up disk space.  He recreated the next time the user logs on but delete everything that the user files.

In Windows 7, the same screen can be obtained from:

Right click on "Computer"-> properties-> Advanced System Settings-> (Advanced tab)-> the settings in the user profile Section.

  • Impossible to delete a user account, even though I am the administrator and the only user of my PC

    Hello, you who knows:

My OS is Vista Home Premium SP2 and I am the only user and
    administrator.
... But the other week, unable to access one of my files, I created
another administrator account, which appears as a different user on
my welcome window, but I couldn't do much with.

Therefore, I decided that it would be a useless account for me to
    have created.
... How can I remove this 'new' alternate administrator account?
For some strange reason, Vista Home Premium doesn't have
an option 'remove' or 'delete '.

Can someone knowledgeable computer please tell me what I can do
    to remove this other account?
I do not see it when my welcome window opens.

Thank you for your attention to this.

    Dear noomene K,

What a beauty to hear from you again and to see all of your great advice!

Your instructions to cancel/hide delinquency counts that I myself
    created were certainly useful

... Unfortunately, and despite everything, the problem remains.

I therefore scoured Internet for some other answer and found a
prompt command, I decided to try.
-Says the command prompt: net user administrator /active: Yes, I have
used for the account I wanted to keep and continue to use.

-And then I went to the user account window that I wanted to cancel
and placed the command prompt: net user administrator / active: No..

Who took care of my problem!

But you gave me a few instructions very well anyway, and I really appreciate
    your help.

    Thank you.

  • Impossible to delete a user account

I apologize for the display of either of them, because he has already answered threads on this community. I feel mine is a little more specific.

I recently had my laptop sent to work in a center of Dell, and because they did not actually to be repairing the system, but only a piece of the trim, I didn't think that they needed to my user password. Despite this, they have created a new user named 'Administrator' to access my system anyway. Now that all my system repairs are completed, I would like to delete this user.

In Control Panel, add or remove users and by selecting the new user, I not give me the option to remove. I found where I can use controls to remove it online or in WMI where I find the user and remove or its permissions. But there are 16 listed under users in WMI users and I want to make sure I remove the right and all its data. I renamed the user "Guest" if I can be sure that by removing the user named "Guest" in the WMI class, I will get the right pair?

My final concern is that this account cannot be deleted, but my main account can. Is this common? Or Dell somehow does take into account the main user for laptop? If I remove the "Guest" account, my account will lose the option should be deleted and I will still all permissions?

Sorry for all the questions, but I want to make sure that my system is always fully accessible to me.

All versions of Windows (at least XP, if not before) is a built-in account named "Administrator".  In Windows 7, the administrator account is disabled by default.

Apparently, your store of tech enabled the administrator account and then failed to turn it off.

Although you can't remove the administrator (by design) account, you can - and should - disable, which will take away from your home screen.

First of all, make sure that you have at least one - and two - preferably accounts of users who are "Administrators" - check by going to control panel > user accounts:

    • Open a command prompt (click the start ORB, type cmd.exe, right click on the link to cmd.exe and select 'Run as administrator' and respond as needed to the UAC prompt).
    • In the black command prompt window, type the following line and press enter
NET user administrator / active: No.
  • Deleting a user account without losing files

Some time before, when I started using Win 7, I was told to prevent people to access your computer, the best thing is to create another user account so that your administrator account has been left untouched and pure.  Now, I'm the only one to have access to my computer.
Later, I upgraded to a disc SSD C, on which I put only my programs, etc.
Then, for some reason that my old spirit can not remember now, I could only do something about the Admin account and I opted for the use of this. I copied some of my important files (lots of pictures - very large files).
The SSD is now nearly full, and I realized it's because I duplicated these.
Question: Do I really NEED to have done the thing in user account to protect me - I have Kaspersky Internet Security and sit behind a firewall router?
And if I did, how I merge the two accounts so I only use the Admin account, without inadvertently deleting several files on the user account?
    Any notice received with gratitude.

It is very good indeed to use a user separate daily use account and only log on to the administrator account if absolutely necessary.  Few people do it and Windows now has the means to protect even an admin user using this UAC confirmation to admin actions, but using another account is still a great way to maintain the security of your computer, so I recommend that you keep doing what you're doing.

To join the files that are stored in the two accounts and get all in one combined place, just open the C:\Users folder, take all the duplicate files you put in the two accounts and move them to the account that you are using.

The administrator account, as it is used in the case of "emergency" should essentially be empty and do not use any space.

  • I want to give my old computer to my family, how can I delete my user account and files?

I have windows XP & buy a new laptop with windows 7. How can I remove myself from the old laptop so that they don't get my email & files?  I give my computer to the family member.

You could do a clean install, so there's nothing left from when you use, or you can create another user (admin) then go on this user and delete your user, so that all your files would be gone.
