Delete project folders

I searched the knowledge base and forums without success. I am probably not on the appropriate search words!

I created a main RoboHelp project and that the product has evolved, I wrote additional documentation in Word separate and imported in RoboHelp documents time. Well, the development team has changed most of the interface and now I need to change the documentation that has already been imported in RoboHelp.

Instead of having to update each topic one at a time, I would like to delete the folders that contain the specific documentation of my RoboHelp project. It is easier sometimes to work in Word and re - import the full article in RoboHelp to have to open each topic separately and replace all the graphics.

How can I remove a complete file of a project? The structure is as follows:
Files HTML (topics)
CatalogRequest_files
Images
CatalogRequest_files
Multimedia
CatalogRequest_files
etc...

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kind regards
Gilley

Hi Gilley. You cannot delete folders of a HR project in the same way as you can in Windows Explorer. What you have to do is to delete the contents of the folder first, and then delete the actual file. I mean, the contents of the folder themes, images, multimedia baggage files and style sheets. You will see the folder structure duplicated in each section of the project tab. Only when everything is empty can you do a right click on the folder and select the option 'delete '.

  • Cannot delete projects in iMovie 10

Hello. I can't delete iMovie 10 projects. In the form of projects, I click on the small circular button with three points and choose Delete Project, but nothing happens. Anyone know why I can't delete a project? How to operate?

    Thank you

Others have reported this problem, but I'm not aware of a solution.  There was a long thread on this a little backwards.  Suggestions included

removal of the preferences of iMovie (iMovie opened while pressing the command and option keys) and relocation of iMovie.  Delete preferably is simple, so you might try that first.

Here's another idea: create a new backup library and to set up the project and see if you can remove it from there.   You can even delete the whole

new library containing the project if you want.  See use of several libraries in the Help menu for instructions.  If it works, it can't cure the underlying problem, but at least it will get rid of the project.

    Good luck with that.

  • When I try to delete some folders, an error message appears saying 'you need permission SYSTEM to make changes to this file.

original title: require authorization of the SYSTEM

I decided to do a clean install of the latest Windows 7 RC yesterday and today crossed and have started to remove some programs on a separate hard drive so I could reinstall their own.  However when I try to delete some folders, an error message appears saying 'you need permission SYSTEM to make changes to this file.  I am using an administrator account, but I can't just simply delete the file.  I tried going to and change the owner to my account or administrators, close it, change the security permissions to allow me to have full control, and then I can finally remove it.  The problem is, I have to do for all the files one by one in the folder, and I wonder if there is an easier way to go about this, or if I can access the user of this SYSTEM and just delete them all from there.  Thanks for the help.

    Hello

Not trying to resurrect the old discussions, but I'll answer anyway because this thread came on top of the list of search results when I searched for "you need permission to the SYSTEM; I hope this will help everyone.

Note: here, "the record" as a subject refers to the folder that you want to remove.

Step 1: Go to the built-in Administrator account, you can do so by following these steps:
    a. go to control panel > system and security > administrative tools
    b. on the left panel, go to local users and groups > users. You should now see a list of users on your computer
    c. right click on the administrator account that appears in the list and select Properties
    d. uncheck "account is disabled" and confirm by pressing OK

Step 2: Connect to your newly activated administrator account

Step 3: Now, we start to configure the security settings that will allow you to remove this folder which was (perhaps) held by the SYSTEM:
I'm going to make the assumption that you want to remove a folder and all its subfolders along
    a. right click on the folder
    b. go to the security on the top tab
    c. click on the Advanced button which is at the bottom

: Step 4 the first part to configure security settings to set the owner of the folder:
    a. go to the owner on the top tab
    b. click the button change located downstairs
    c. There should be a list of accounts to choose to change the property, this is located under the label "of a change in ownership:'"
    (d) the entry 'Administrator (YOURCOMPUTERNAME\Administrator)' should be there; If this isn't the case, then add it to the list:
-Click on the button "other users or groups...". "who's down
-Under the label "enter the object name to select (examples):', there should be a text field you can type into it;" type in "Administrator" (without the quotes of course)
-Click on the "Check names" button which is located on the right. 'Administrator (YOURCOMPUTERNAME\Administrator)' should now be there _For itself_; Well, if not, then you must remove the line that does not represent the administrator account that you are currently
-Confirm by pressing OK; It will now appear on the list of accounts, you can choose from
    e. now, select 'Administrator (YOURCOMPUTERNAME\Administrator)' from this list
    f. check 'Replace the owner of subcontainers and objects' to propagate our change
    g. press OK to confirm. a message should now pop-up window, which says to re - open the properties. Do by pressing all the buttons OK see you

Step 5: now that we have the owner of the folder, we still not done. There is one crucial step left which is to remove permissions inheritable:
    a. Repeat step 3 to learn to re - open properties and get to "Advanced security settings"
    b. go to the permissions on the top tab
    c. click on the button "Change permissions" which is down
    d. at the bottom, there should be 2 check boxes:
-' Include the permissions that can be inherited from the parent to this object': deselect this. When you do so, you will get a warning on the parameters of parent is not not able to spread. Select 'Add '.
-' Replace all permissions of child object with permissions inheritable this object': check this
    e. press OK to confirm. Windows will warn you this time; Click OK
    f. reconfirm by pressing OK; now, you should get to properties again

Now, you shouldn't have all the warnings about the SYSTEM do give you permission as he attempted to perform actions on this issue.
All the boxes to change the permissions on the accounts (properties > Security > Edit) must now be enabled, and you can tinker around with it.

The following is valid for Mac and PCs:

You can delete an entire catalog using the Catalog Manager, file menu > manage catalogs.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the option is grayed out if the catalog you want to remove is the only one in the catalog list. Because the Organizer cannot operate without an open catalog, you must create another catalogue or open an existing one before activating the button 'delete '.

  • R7000 drive NAS cannot delete the folders permissions question user-person not

I have the R7000 with a Seagate STBV4000100 4 to USB 3.0 drive connected. I can connect to it very well, driving shares of work etc. Since a WIN 7 64 bit OS file system using windows Explorer I can create folders, etc.

    It comes occasionally when I try to delete some files or folders, I get the following message;

"You must be authorized to perform this action."
You need authorization of Unix User\nobody to make changes to this file"

It would seem that I am not able to change the permissions of either windows Explorer.

If anyone knows how I can change the permissions so I can delete from windows Explorer?

One thing of note. When I copied the files/folders on the NAS of the windows system drive, some files have been marked read-only. Not sure if this is part of the question, but anyway. How do I set the permissions to something so I can remove them from windows?

NOTE: If I disconnect the drive of the router and connect directly to the computer... it works fine. As the router and the PC are not on the same floor, is not practical and defeated the purpose. Suggestions welcome!

After a few reformats the drive, it worked for me. The eSata disk files are exactly like Windows Explorer 'standard '. I can save, load, delete, change properties, etc... Because it worked, I had to turn off the router once, and after a reboot, nothing had changed. While working. (except the bad 5G wifi and "freaky" interface, but it was like before)...

  • Delete the folders drive pen by mistake

I held separately the files and folders on my USB stick and another external hard drive. But, yesterday, when downloading the information to the computer, I deleted by mistake some records of the pen drive, not the expected external hard drive. Is it still possible for me to save these files back? Some of these records stayed my photos of delivery of diplomas and documents. Thank you for all the advice!

Y at - it an extra copy of these deleted files? If there is, just copy them all back. But, if there is not these additional copies left, keep this unused USB and take some third-party data recovery software to take risks.

Search the Internet, there are many similar data recovery tools that could be your choice, such as Recuva, and much more.

After the data recovery, also do not save files restored on this USB data recovery fails.

Never be so careless on your data from drive disk or pen again.

Back up all important data well could be really useful to avoid similar data loss problems in the future.

  • Deleting empty folders: "Thumbs.db" - what is?

Advice on another thread I posted, I moved my photos of a large number of individual files to a folder, preferring to use the tags and other criteria to rank them in an organization "flat-file".

Now I remove empty folders, those who used to store individual photos.  I go about deleting these, I encounter a warning message to the effect "Thumbs.db is a file system.  If you remove it, really bad things could happen, etc. "I want to get rid of these files, but how can I not create more problems with"Thumbs.db"everywhere where it is (it showed anywhere that I can see, and I checked the box for folders show system files.)

    Hello

Yes as long as you intend to remove the folder and its contents and then the warning can be ignored.

It keeps the info/cache the thumbnails in this case so it is usually better to leave it as it is.

Disable caching of thumbnails of Windows 7 in the hidden thumbs.db files

How to erase and reset the Cache of thumbnails in Windows 7
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/10797-thumbnail-cache-clear-reset.html

Even if you have deleted a thumbs.db file in a folder that you want to keep thumbs.db should be rebuilt.
(Not all real photos however, who would stay deleted.)

    I hope this helps.

  • Deleting mail folders any blackBerry Smartphones?

I had to have mine replaced. I got home and probably intervened a couple back. Mail works generally, but I want to get it's completely clean.

I have 3 email accounts, but when I look at my records, I show 6 of Inbox. That's probably because I did a restore from a backup, then when my mail didn't work, I deleted the accounts online and added, then I entered my new info on the device. Basically, I have 3 files orphans. My end result is 2 files per account, but only 1 is synchronized. How to remove the folders Inbox 'yellow '?

When I look at my service books, I show only the 3 accounts being synchronized, which I guess is correct. I have just wnt to get cleaned up. I can remove the accts and service books and then add them again, but the 3 files orphans remain. Any suggestions?

    Thank you
