Delete the Raw files

Separated from this thread.

This is the first time using a forum; Please guide me if necessary.  I need help similar to Roger Denton. Literally, thousands of "gross".jpg images are on my c drive.   Are not icons, but the images obtained from the internet.    I don't know and can't know where they are located on the c drive.  I did a test backup and all the raw jpg files went with the backup.  Is your suggestion above, "Edit: it may be temporary files to Web pages, you have seen."  Try this before you use the DEL command. "There is reason for my problem?  Thank you.  Raul

Hello

I think that RAW files are hidden

  1. Open Folder Options by clicking on the button start , by clicking on Control Panel, appearance and personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
  2. Click the view tab.

  3. Under Advanced settings, click Show files and folders and then click OK.

Were you transfer pictures from camera to pc?  There should be a DELETE option in the software used for transport.  Alternatively, you can set your camera to .jpg not .raw.

Use IrfanView or one of these softwarees to open RAW files

http://file.org/extension/raw

Try to do a search for *. RAW files

Once the search is complete, select the first Photo

Press Ctrl + A to select all

Press Delete

Use IrfanView to see open RAW files

  • Best way to sort, organize and delete the RAW files?

    Hello world

I am looking for a way to simply sort through a series of close to 600 raw on a Mac files.  I'm very new to this, so bare with me :)

At first, I downloaded the raw files from my SD card in my iPhoto which led to all the files in JPEG format.  So I decided that it was no good, so I tried to put the CR2 files in an organized folder and dragging the file in the preview.  I find that the preview is verrrry slow.  I'm looking for the best way to sift through

These files and choose the best/remove the worst.  What do you recommend? I plan on changing the files in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Is there a place in Lightroom where I can get this sort of process I speak of? Or do I have to download another type of organization program offline?

    Thank you

If you mean the word "out" the process of getting rid of the 'bad' images, and Yes keeping 'good' images, Lightroom can do this as many other programs.

In Lightroom, you would import the 600 images together, and when the import process is completed (this may take a few minutes or more depending on your computer), then you can scroll through each image and if you decide that it is a 'bad' image that you don't want to keep, press X, then go to the next image. Once this is done, you can delete all the photos that you have assigned X in a single action.

Other programs will probably allow you to do this "spell" faster, but I can't talk about them.

  • Delete the raw files only file catalog

I have a catalog with the RAW file and its dng file appearing I want to delete only the RAW files from the catalog.  Is there an easy way to show not only the RAW files, how I can mark and remove them?  Or view files RAW and dng, but they have lumped together so I can still score only RAW files?  As it is, I have a checkered pattern which will require picking through the thumbnails one at a time and checking the RAW files for removal.n

You can filter the raw files. If you do not see the library filter especially thumbnails press the backslash key.

Select the text option, and in the search box, type the extension for example NEF, CR2 raw files, ARW etc.. You can then select all (Ctrl + A) and delete or remove. Delete lets erase you the images of the catalogue but keep the files in the folder on your hard disk, unless you confirm you want to delete in the trash.

  • 6.1 Lightroom freezes when deleting the raw files or spend library module to develop the module

I have Lightroom 6.1. I have a catalog of ~ 35 000 photos.  With my most recent import of a DSLR Nikon raw files, I'll develop and edit and try to delete some files that I don't want.  The minute I try to delete a file, the program crashes and no unhang itself until I close the program and restart.  I tried the same thing several times with different images and get the same result, most of the time.    In addition, it also pretty regularly just hangs trying to get into the develop module, after being in the library module.  It happened at a point of pure frustration because it actually eliminated my being able to do anything other than look at the imported pictures.  Anyone with a similar problem?  I had the same problem with 6.0 recently.  I have a computer standard win 8.1 with 8 MB of ram.  Have never had a problem with Lightroom and found that it is a stable program as a whole so far.  Thank you.  Gary

  • In Lightroom, after that I turned my RAW files to DNG can I delete the original files?

In Lightroom 5, after that I turned my RAW files to DNG can I delete the original files? I am fill hard drives at time (or so it seems) and I remember someone once telling me that after I converted my dng files RAW versions, I could delete my original RAW files.

    Is this true?

    Ideas?

    Entry?

    Thank you!

Yes, you can remove the original RAW files once convert you them to DNG. The only downside is that if you want to use the software from the manufacturer of the camera for a reason, so key information that can be used by the software manufacturer is deleted in the conversion from RAW to DNG.

  • Filter in adobe bridge to select only the Raw files to DNG format convert

Here's my problem - I have a new camera DMC TZ70 and 5.7 Lightroom does not recognize the. RW2 files. I would need to buy LR6! Maybe later.

So I thought that I import via the bridge and convert to DNG.

So I open the bridge, and then select the camera - great - BUT there are files for Raw, the same number of JPEG files images and some .bdm. TDT etc files. (for example 3 raw + 7 others).

I can set up a filter to Show only Raw files when I see what files are in the folder of the card at the Bridge, but when I select "get photos from camera" I can either select all OR deselect and then I need to MANUALLY select raw files. There seems not to be a way to set up a filter in the form of Downloader so that bridge selects only the Raw files for conversion.

If I left it all, Bridge Converts the RW2 in DNG files, but also provides in the JPGs and other files. I can delete these later, but this seems an inefficient way to do it.

Is it possible to manually select raw files in the form of Photo Downloader?

    Advice please, thank you, Mel

I guess the answer's bridge doesn't do what I want, but not Lightroom - bought LR6

  • How to separate the Raw files of the photo library

My photo library is over 700 GB. I have a lot of raw files that are 30 MB or more. How can we separate the raw files in a separate file or a separate library?

Duplicate your photos library in the Finder and then remove all the BULLIES of the first library photos and all photos that are not the RAW files of the second library.

You can search for RAW photos with a smart album:

    File > new Smart Album

Then set the rule set to "picture is GROSS."

Of the other library use the rule 'The Photo is not BELIEVED'.

  • Time Machine, delete the old files from MacAir?

We had a MacAir and a MacPro at home and both were using backups time machine on our 2 TB Time Capsule. I sold the MacAir and replaced by a new MacBook. Can I delete the backups Time Machine of old MacAir and make room on my time Machine 2 TB for Macbook? I get a message of disk space for the first backup of the MacBook.

Can I delete the backups Time Machine of old MacAir and make room on my time Machine 2 TB for Macbook?

Yes you can.  Your next question may be 'how' to do it.

Use the Finder to open the disc Time Capsule, named "Data", except if you have renamed the reader

Here, you will see two files sparsebundle, each bearing the name of Mac, who has been the object of a backup

Click on the name of the sparsebundle file on behalf of the Mac to highlight the file

Click the gear just above the window, and then click place in the trash

He is not coming back, so make sure that you delete the correct file.

Once the deletion over... it should only take a few minutes... Turn off and restart the time Capsule and you should be all set.

  • Open the raw file in Photoshop

Ask MacBook Pro to use Nikon D7100. The photos are raw + jpeg. On PC, I can right click on the photo and choose open in Photoshop. I am not able to do this on the Mac. I tried to drag the files to the desktop. I can edit photo and change the default value to raw, and then drag it to the desktop and it still shows as a jpeg. There must be a simple answer.

By dragging a picture on the desktop will export just a JPEG of the version ediited preview.  To save a RAW file to use the Office to the command "file > export > export original unmodified.

If you frequently want to edit photos in Photoshop consider buying "external editors" extension of the app store for 99 cents.

You can call Photoshop from the control panel in moving pictures the RAW file for her.

For example: in passing one. CR files"photo in Photoshop using the External Editor extension.

  • Error 13008 - deleting the .itdb files does not help. :(

I tried to move my directory iTunes of my homedir on the SD card where I keep all my assets and, despite having (as far as I can remember anyway) set up iTunes to stop the analysis of the file homedir first, now, whenever he's trying to start I get the fearsome "unknown error 13008. All threads I've seen on how to solve this say to save and delete the .itdb files in your iTunes folder and then restart iTunes. However, when I do this, iTune recreates (on the SD card, so at least I know that he uses the right place, and that it can write to the card), then crashes with the error 13008. Same thing if I rename the folder iTunes together.

Any suggestions? I'm on Yosemite. I'd say what version of iTunes, I'm running, but...

I make little feeling that this has not been done in the best way initially.

Moving a library: quick response if you use preferences by default iTunes settings: copy the folder integer iTunes (and to ensure that all of its subfolders and files) intact at the other disk, hold down the option/ALT key to start iTunes and on request to select a library select iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.

  • Cannot delete the plist file system.

My Time Machine is not automatically back up my drive. He worked for some time (don't know why) and then stops working automatically. I tried to implement the procedure laid down by Linc Davis, delete the file com.apple.TimeMachine.plist, but make the message: 'com.apple.TimeMachine.plist' cannot be changed or deleted because it is required by OS X.  I tried to change the permissions in the file information window to include Administrator Read and Write (only has this permission system. Which translates the message: "the operation cannot be performed because you don't have the necessary authorization."

Using the terminal window and sudo rm command produces the same message.

I do a backup manually through the system preferences window, but it shows immediately that a backup disk has not been selected. Next time, I select the backup disk, perform a manual backup. Repeat the next time, I have run a manual backup.

10.11.1 on new iMac, retina 5 K with 16 GB of memory running. Has made a migration to this previous computer Mac Pro 10.7.5.

Also the Time Machine backup drive icon backup weather icon to see the Machine. Relaunch the Finder does not fix issue.

Question: How can I delete the plist file?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A bug in OS X 10.11.1 prevents automatic backups that happens when a desktop Mac (iMac, Mac mini or Mac Pro) is connected to a UPS (UPS) with the USB feature.

Please, back up all data before proceeding.

First, check the App Store for a later update to OS X. If it is available when you read this review, install it and see if the problem is resolved. I speak not beta versions.

Otherwise, you can work around the bug as follows.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine RequiresACPower 0

Copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting. You will be asked for your login password. Nothing displayed when you type. Type carefully, and then press return. If you do not have a password, you will need to configure one before you can run the command. You can get a warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to display the warning.

If you see a message that your user name "is not in the sudoers file", then you have not logged as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.

Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.

    Restart the computer and test.

  • TDMS-2503 error recovery - delete the index file does not

My team worked an acquisition of data on some test machines, and I went today to begin the analysis of the data.  It turns out that two of the TDMS files that we generated cannot be opened in Diadem, Excel or use the controls file TDMS Opend in LabVIEW.  I also tried the repair of PDM tool, with the same result.  The test machine has since been demolished, so there is no way to re - run tests.  Is it possible to have the files was looking to see if all the data can be recovered?

The files were generated with LabVIEW 2013 SP1.  Attemtped to open them in the same version of LabVIEW, and Diadem 2015, and the importer of excel (excel 2010).

TDMS files are rather large (> 1 GB), but the tdms_index files that were generated with them were 0kB.  Delete the tdms_index files and re - open the TDMS files had no effect.

A first look into files (using the primitives to open the binary in LabVIEW), the initial section of the appearance of correct files (readable metadata that matches from a work file in a non-working file).

He seems to have no notable connection between the two files that will not open, nor the differences in the situation of these files for work files.

Any help would be greaty appreciated.

TDMS files are written in chuncks.  At the beginning of each chunck belongs to the human readable semi which is data such as channel names and groups, but contains no actual data.  Then follows the binary data.  The index is intended for all semi human readable file and any data.  This should make the reading of the file easier because the file offset and such are in the index file smaller.

This being said if you have some sections corrupted in your DDHN file you can always get the data out of it.  There is a code floating around that pull each of the segments and find out what is the problem, then all allows you to get all the data before the wrong section.  This thread talking about it, and a short code displayed around page 3.

    Hello Alonda,

Thanks for the response on the answers.microsoft.com forum.

It seems that you are really wanting to get free space on your hard drive.  Certainly understand this importance.  Did you run a disk cleanup?  Do this by => click Start ORB-> computer-> right click on your drive Local (usu. C :) and select properties-> under a general tab, click Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup will usually present your files can be deleted without reprecussions.  Also, most of the files that you can delete Windows putting updates in question the question about WINSXS, get lodged in this folder.  Here is an article of Nice forum describing the WINSXS file a little more away.
