Deleted storage still fills HDD

After deciding that my main account on my Mac has taken too much space, I chose to create a second account with the first account of the deletion. This second account is an account for the most part, nothing more. After this, I restarted my machine to find my storage had not moved, always a full HARD disk.

Any help and ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello Beazy Rider,

I understand that you want to delete your main user of your computer account to free up space.  When you have created your second user account, have you configured it in an administrator account?  If you don't a not designate as an administrator account, it is possible that your original user account has not been deleted. We will use this step

OS X El Capitan: set up users on your Mac.

Convert a standard user or managed an administrator

  1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click users and groups.

  2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

  3. Select a managed user or a standard user in the users list, and then select "allow user to administer this computer."

Take a look at the resource below for the steps to remove a user account.

OS X El Capitan: remove a user

  1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click users and groups.

  2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

  3. Select the user you want to remove, and then click the button remove below the list of users.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • Save the home in the form of disk image folder: select "save the home folder in a disk image. This archive documents and information of the user so that the user can be restored later if necessary. The disk image is saved in/Users/deleted users.

    • Let the home folder of the user that it is: select "do not change the folder." The documents and information of the user are, and the user can be restored if necessary. The folder remains in / Users /.

    • Remove the home folder of the user of the computer: select "Delete the folder." The user information is deleted and the storage space is released. If you want to keep the programs that read the raw data to recover all files, select "delete the folder safely."

  5. Click on the user to remove.

Take care.

Trash the lock and you can delete the selection

I didn't have layers Locked Norman.  I was going to say that the OP was probably an attempt to change the background layer.

  • Software deleted files still in computer science

    I use a HP s5310f w/4 GB of ram, 600g hd, Win 7, IE8, Norton 2010.

I had a lot of problems with Roxio Creator 2010 and ended up uninstalling because whenever I tried to reinstall I would get the error message "certificate missing or corrupted", and Roxio/Sonic could not solve the problem. I also uninstalled the Roxio Photo Show softwarwe as well. I used Revo uninstaller with advanced registry scan for the two facilities. However, when I click on start and type Roxio in the search box, a list will appear showing always almost 36 000 files in my computer which are Roxio Roxio and associations.

My question: If the software has been uninstalled, and leftover files deleted from the register, what are the files 35 000 + and why are they still in my computer?

I am tempted to select all and delete, but do not know what happen to my computer if I did.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

Hello boongsong, I have Roxio Creator 2011 Pro and shows 2 757 files, 285 folders. It is only in the Program Files folder and not all registry settings.

    There must be something else.

  • Deleted app, still on display as installed, impossible to reinstall

Removed Illustrator and some other applications of my carpet of clouds to save space, I did not notice the uninstall on every app tool. I used an app tool call cleaner which detects and deletes the associated files.

That is all very well, but the app Manager still shows as installed Illustrator and there seems to be no way to download and reinstall. The other deleted apps the same way show uninstalled and installed applications still work fine, just a ghost Illustrator list in Manager app I want to reset.

It seems there is always some Illustrator files on the machine that is detected by the MAO. We will run the Adobe Creative Suite cleanup tool and remove the remains of the CS6.

  • Cannot delete files from USB HDD CCC attached to Time Capsule

    Hello

I use an external DRIVE (WD MyBook Studio) disc that contains two partitions: "CCC-Backup' (where Carbon Copy Cloner stores its backups/clones) and 'Media' (for my movie collection). This HARD drive was attached to my iMac, but now I have the seal to a Time Capsule via USB. Both partitions appear in the Finder and I can see all the data. So far so good.

Now, I want to set up my backup of CCC from scratch. To free up space, delete the contents of the old 'CCC Backup' partition. First of all, I see a message like "XXX.XXX current objects of deletion":

But then, after a while, I receive a message telling me that the deletion failed because I do not have the appropriate privileges (I am admin on my iMac, however).

I have no idea if this is a related question CCC or if it could be due to the fact that the HARD drive is now connected to the time Capsule? Could someone please give me a tip how I'll be able to remove the old CCC where backup files?

When the hard drive is plugged into the TC it indeed belongs to the TC. You must create a directory on the drive of your computer to be the owner of this particular directory. But what you do when the drive is connected to your computer is ignored when plugged into the network, it is owned by the network device.

So the solution is very simple... Plug it into your computer, wipe the partition and then plug it into the TC.

You must use sparsebundle then CCC for backup. It is important to understand that the CCC as Time Machine backup impossible similarly to a network drive.

How do I completely delete old accounts iTunes from a company phone, so that I can update the required applications? Preference option that does not require a method of removal/reinstall app.

Apps are always related to the Apple ID and password used to buy. If you want to use an application with a new ID and password, you need to delete and buy with the new code.

I removed my SD card and inserteded in my PC, copied the files.

In USING THE PC, then I deleted most of the files on the SD card.

  • Multimedia files deleted, but still appear in media player. Hundreds of them.

Windows Media Player always shows hundreds of MP3 files that I deleted from my hard drive. Covers of albums and all. I can't remove them from the reader, but they are gone from my computer. I select Remove again, and nothing happens. If I try to play it, I learned the file has been deleted or moved. Duh. I first noticed a few months back when I deleted a file in Media Player, I had to do it twice. After the removal of the first, he came back and I would delete it again and it would be gone. I went to Windows Explorer and delete the whole directory.

I even went to "Microsoft Support" and he asked to install an ActiveX control, I said yes and then I get an error "Internet Explorer has blocked this site" by making a dangerous ActiveX control. Large.

Windows 7 with all latest updates on an i7 bought seven.

Open WMP, then press the ALT on your keyboard.  In the menu that appears, choose Tools > advanced > restore of the media library.  This should solve the problem and allow him to read system files directly, rather than the display of old deleted files.

If it solves your problem, click on the link "Propose as answer" below and vote as useful by clicking on the green triangle for the lelft. Thank you!
