Deleting a form in Adobe Acrobat XI field

I think I met a bug in Adobe Acrobat XI.  I have a PDF with form fields, and I am totally unable to delete a certain field (I don't create intentionally). Field is invisible and has no name, and the option 'Highlight the existing fields' shadow NOT the pale purple field - it's as if the field isn't really there.  Here's how he behaves (to facilitate the discussion, I'll call the field the field 'empty'):

  • In form editing mode, I can see the black outline of the empty field (with a tab order of 0). It has no name. I can point to the empty field and select it, and the outline becomes bright blue with handles. When I press DELETE or right-click the field and click on 'Remove', nothing happens. When I close the edit form, the empty field disappears.
  • If I display the content pane and look at individual annotations, I find two fields with the same named (it is only meant to be my document with this name, a field). When one is selected, the corresponding field described in faded blue; When I click on the other, the empty field, that I can not delete becomes shown in faded blue (but still with no name). By pressing the del key at this time there does nothing.

Whether or not the form field is labeled, I can't delete it.  Also, I can't change its properties to make it hidden.  I could start from scratch, but I spent a lot of time on this form makes it accessible, and I don't want to re-do.  I need to get rid of this blank!  How?  (P.S. This happened to me before, so it is not just a stroke of luck.)

I saw this happen as well. The only way I found to get rid of these fields is using the redaction tool.

    I created form in adobe acrobat X 1 Professional.

    Now, I want to put logic on a field.

    I want that the document will be closed if someone between age under the age of 18. and display a message for minors?

    The final document is a little drastic... Perhaps simply display an error message? In any case, you can do it like this, as a custom field validation script:

    if (event.value && Number(event.value)<18) {
        app.alert("You must be an adult to fill in this form!");
        this.closeDoc(true);
    }

    Be aware that using this code will close the file without saving it, and the user will lose all unsaved data that they have entered.

  • WITH THE HELP OF BUTTONS FOR FORMS IN ADOBE ACROBAT/READER

    Hello, I use Adobe Acrobat Std XI to create a form that Adobe readers will be completed.  Everything works in the form except for the button, I inserted to allow the user to reset/clear the form. The button works correctly in Acrobat, but this is no work in the drive.  I tried to save the file as a Reader Extended version, I tried the protected and unprotected file and I can not get the button work in Reader. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or is it all just because I'm working with Acrobat Standard XI and not Pro?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the file. What you need to do is to remove the fields of digital signature from the list of fields to be set to zero.

  • AutoFill Forms in Adobe Acrobat 8

    I am trying to create a field that automatically auto another field.  I tried to copy and paste the text boxes with the same name and replace the field by its very name, but I had no luck.  I also went to forms in double issue that failed.

    I'm just now using Adobe Acrobat 8; advice would be appreciated.

    This form was created in LiveCycle Designer (XFA form), so the rules that apply to the forms created in Acrobat (Acroforms) do not necessarily apply. What you need to do to get it to behave the way you want is to set the binding of the fields to 'Global' as 'Normal' opposite To do this on the tab link of the palette object for the text field. If you have any questions in the future on the forms that you create in LiveCycle Designer, it is best to post in the forum of LiveCycle Designer here.

  • Problem with form in Adobe Acrobat pro ms machine

    I created a form where I wanted people to respond to similar questions on each page of the form.  There are several questions and boxes.  I used to be able to copy the form field that had a similar text and just edit, but this time when I copied them they display the same information in each copy and I can't understand why.

    It adds that I also had problems importing the form with Microsoft word 2013 files.

    All of the suggestions.

    The fields with the same name will always have the same value. You must

    Rename them after copying them.

  • If/then box script help in the form of Adobe Acrobat...

    If having a purchase order that has two different fields of price (regular price per point & subscription price per article for each line item, then a quantity) and then a total field. Finally, there is a checkbox on the form indicating if they sign up for a monthly subscription.

    What I try to do is create a script that totals each line by the current price multiplied by the quantity or the price of the subscription by amount if the subscription checkbox is checked ("Yes"). So far, I've tried several scripts, I found in the forum but no luck at all.

    The box is near the billing fields down, so all the line items first appear in the upper part of the form. Thus, an individual if each line and calculations would amount in total to each line (reg * qty price) when you get off of the form... When you check the subscription all line totals would have changed to reflect the subscription rates on each line (which may be different). Just need help with a single line and I can duplicate for each line...

    Here's what I does NOT again...:

     (function () {

    if (this.getField("sub").value==="Yes") {
         var b1 = this.getField("Price1b");
         var c1 = this.getField("Qty1");
         var d1 = this.getField("Price1");
         event.value = b1.value * c1.value;
    } else event.value = d1.value * c1.value;
        }

    )();

    Try this:

    (function () {}

    var b1 = getField("Price1b").value;

    var c1 = getField("Qty1").value;

    var d1 = getField("Price1").value;

    If (getField("sub").value = 'Yes') {}

    Event.Value = b1 * c1;

    } else {}

    Event.Value = d1 * c1;

    }

    })();

  • Create a dynamic drop-down list field in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

    Hi all. I am creating a field in one of my forms using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. I have a drop down list of 'core' items, and according to what is selected in the list, I want a second drop-down list to give different choices. I've searched and searched and have javascript that I thought might work, but maybe I'm have a mistake or I'm place javascript code in the wrong place, because it does not work. I know very, very little about javascript, any help would be so appreciated.

    I use Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. I added a "new field" and selected "drop-down list. The domain name is ProvType. The options of the menu drop-down are:

    Hospitalized patients

    External consultations

    Doctor

    I have "Commit selected value immediately" selected. The field is not validated. The format is 'none '. There is no measures or calculations associated with it.

    I then created another dropbox and named SubProvType. Under Actions, I selected the trigger as the mouse upwards and then selected the Action "executes a JavaScript script. I selected the Add button and he hit in the JavaScript editor:

    Switch (ProvType.rawValue)

    {

    case "Hospitalisation":

    this.setItems ("Hospice, hospital, Nursing Facility");

    break;

    "outpatient": case

    this.setItems ("adult day Center, Home, others");

    break;

    case 'doctor ':

    this.setItems ("surgeon, general practitioner, neurologist");

    break;

    }

    What I want to do is:

    If "Hospitalization" is selected, I want only the following options to be available in the second drop-down list box "SubProvType":

    Palliative care

    Hospital

    Nursing facility

    If "outpatient" is selected, I want only the following options to be available in the second drop-down list box "SubProvType":

    Adult day Center

    Home

    Other

    If the 'doctor' is selected, I want these options to be available in the second drop-down list box "SubProvType":

    Surgeon

    Family practice

    Neurologist

    However... when I close form editing and try to select a different option in the ProvType field, SubProvType field is left blank and there is no options available. Also, there are no errors.

    I must be missing something, but I have no idea where to start. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide.

    Use this code as the ProvType custom validation script (and remove any code that you have associated with SubProvType):

    switch (event.value) {
        case "Inpatient":
            this.getField("SubProvType").setItems(["Hospice,Hospital,Nursing Facility"]);
            break;
        case "Outpatient":
            this.getField("SubProvType").setItems(["Adult Day Center,Home,Other"]);
            break;
        case "Physician":
            this.getField("SubProvType").setItems(["Surgeon,Family Practice,Neurologist"]);
            break;
    }
