Dell Dock exe "application not found" error after cleaning malware virus and fix registry problems

Hey guys!, I had a problem with malware. (In particular this Vista Internet Security * who seems to knock everyone). I fixed this problem as well as the issue with the thing of my Microsoft Security (which sets the windows Defender) and then I went through and fixed my registry problems who came later as some aftereffect of the virus. (Phew!) Now that it is finally all done I click on my dock dell to go to internet explore and BAM! "Application not found" in an area which the header indicates dell dock.exe. Now I just got through my fixing registry problems so that I have all my .exe programs can open without a problem. All other issues are resolved except this! What's wrong?! Please, someone help. (I can get Internet explore any other way, but it's not my PC and I don't want the owner to think I broke it) PS Can't do system restore I would lose my updates which are very necessary can't do a registry fix because I already did and I don't want to mess with it again is not sure if reinstall dell dock should solve the problem I just install IE9 and all my other icons in dell dock work very well

Hello

the Dell Dock is nothing to do with the Vista software; It is software installed by Dell

If the information below correct it, re-download the Dell Dock or contact Dell

also run the sfc/scannow command.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

    Hi Dredogg346,

There is a strong possibility that there may be some infections of viruses or malware on the computer. I suggest that you scan the computer and remove infections, check if it works.

  • Application not found Error Messages

Application not found error message Hi,.

I recently had a virus on my Windows XP which I removed with Norton Internet Security.  The virus was called "XP Antispyware 2010".  After that I took it with the version of Norton Internet Security 2010 newly installed, I realize that I could not access the internet directly by clicking on the icon. a window will open asking for me to choose the program I want to use to open IE.  He would then run the program but nothing happens and it goes in circles asking to select a program to open, run, etc.

Soon I noticed that clicking on other applications would result in an error message saying "Application not found".  I can't remove programs from my control panel because it is inaccessible, I can't open Microsoft Office programs directly unless I go to my computer.  I can't do a system recovery or restoration; the same messages will pop up. So basically, I can't make any changes to my laptop programs or access directly.  Help, please.

I called Symantec who tried to help.  Norton Internet Security has been removed from my laptop, but I still have the same problems.  I was then told that this isn't a problem with Norton, but with Windows and the file sharing/accessibility.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Hi, Debbie.

First of all, Norton is not the choice of the antivirus, I recommend, and I seriously doubt that he removed all, if any, elements of Xp Antispyware 2012. Their support is not much better that you will probably notice now.

The errors that you receive are obviously the result of the malware.

We will try to solve your problems one at a time.

Using another computer, and then transfer the files to the computer in question via revovable storage like a disk or flash/thumb drive click HERE. Download the file. Extract the contents of the zip file.

Click HERE and download another zip file, extract the contents again.

Right-click on the files one at a time of course and choose "merge". Confirm guests. You should now be able to open your shortcuts and executable files.

Click HERE. Download Malwarebytes. Update Malwarebytes and perform a scan.  Choose whether to remove anything found. Once completed click HERE and download Superantispyware Portable. Perform a quick scan again remove anything found.

  • Application not found error-choose the program you want to use to open this file

    Soon all the world.

I really hope that someone will post a reply to my question as soon as possible. I will try to be as descriptive as I could possibly, in order to solve my problems.

The main problem is that I can't open some, if all the program files, applications on my windows 7, 32-bit laptop. I'm constantnly get application not found error, showing in a small window address, I was trying to do. Whenever I want to open a program, like the Adobe reader, word of microsoft, excel, mozilla firefox, google chrome - basically everthing, a window opens and is telling me this: choose the program you want to use to open this file: file: acad.exe... and recommend me acrobat from adobe program, any program I was trying to enter (in this case autoCAD).

Cannot open cmd, when I go to system recovery, it says: System Restore could not start. I normally post records in: C and: D sheet music, play music, watch videos and see photos. I found a "hole" not being able to go to the internet via a browser. I discovered it when I went to an online help in some of the trobleshoots. It would open tab in google chrome by itself and then on it, I can browse the internet normally, but only through the said track.

Currently, the microsoft security essentials performs a custom analysis (: C and: D), because I suspect it is a malware, or some kind of virus. It happened when I tried to download a program from CAD Solidworks 2012 via a site that I'm not sure I'm allowed to mention, that I don't want. Unless it's okay with you :) It begins with a letter t. By the way, I noticed that my: partition D has accumulated 10 GB + more in the space of a few days, because I remember two weeks ago I had close to 70 GB of free space, now it's about 56.3 GB. Curious, because I know that I did nothing so great in this period. Maybe I need to tell you that I get this window, from time to time, when I browse the internet (I never visit suspicious sites, or at least I don't me remember more I visited one in a very long time, like 4-5 months):

I found this in my story, be very careful what you do with this link, I don't want that take you anything ;)

That's on my side, please ask anything and everything, I'll visit this page when I can.

    Good bye!

P.S. forgot to mention that when I download a program (mozilla Firefox), I can not run it due to: Application not found. I hope I found the right place for it.

Original title: Windows 7 - Application not found. A big problem or easy-peasy?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    1. What is the complete error message you get when opening a file?
    2. What happens when you try to open the command prompt?
    3. What happens when you try to access the internet by using Internet Explorer?
    4. You did changes to the computer before the show?

According to the description of problem errors you get "application not found error" and "choose the program you want to use to open this file" and not being is not able to do system restore, it seems that some windows file is corrupted. I also suggest you to post back the results of analysis.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if this is useful:

Method 1:  Run SFC scan and check for corrupted Windows files and violations of integrity.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:

For any question, where his prompting you to select the default program
Try to set the default values for the program
Change the programs that Windows uses by default

For any question, where you are not able to download and install firefox, download the file and save it and then try to install firefox.

I hope this helps. Please let us know the results. Feel free to write us again for any help.

    Hi FermanHowell,

This problem occurs because of a missing or corrupted Rundll32.exe file. This problem can also be caused by a virus.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps listed in the article below:

I have problems to run many of my programs. I recently had my laptop worked on and now can't open itunes for example.  I tried to uninstall and install the program, but it still will not work. My firefox opens not either. It says that it cannot open this type of file, because it is unable to recognize. Please let me know what to do. I'll try to install updates for Windows Vista to see if it would help. Thank you for your help, Shana

When I try and open any application on my PC, I get the error message "choose a program to open this file with. I think I have a virus, but can not run any antivirus programs as they all won't open no - needs an application to open it with. I can not open IE. Can anyone help?

Using Windows Explorer, try to navigate to \Windows\System32, right-click on cmd.exe, then choose open. If that doesn't work try to use the command.com program. Now, type assoc .exe = exefile and press ENTER. You may have to restart the computer.

    Then run MBAM.
