Dell Inspiron 14R (N4010) BSOD on restoring factory image

I got this machine, serial number [ADMIN NOTE: Service tag deleted by privacy policy], a customer who has been infected with several horses of Troy and at least a rootkit. Rather than pulling my hair out trying to clean the system of the user who has all the important personal data on an external, she chose me to have to reinstall everything just by using the original Dell DataSafe Local Image. This process seems to end successfully, but after restarting, it BSOD with a STOP 0x0000007b. Since this is usually related to the ATA/AHCI settings in BIOS and/or the associated drivers to even, I put this ATA mode and tried again. BSOD. Tested, past RAM. HARD drive tested, spent. Used /fixmbr and /fixboot bootrec.exe. Reboot, BSOD. Reverses the AHCI mode. Reboot, BSOD. Used bootrec.exe /scanos are more, no OS installed and the /rebuildbcd concluded also no OS installed. Watched C: while that started at the command prompt, seems to be a full install of Win7. Started in a real environment of Linux. Re-tested everything. No error found. BIOS wanted for all protection sector viruses in the boot or other such parameter which could interfere with OS install. Without this setting seems to exist. I'm just about ideas. The only one I have left is to reinstall Win7 retail media and its key to Dell. I don't really have to do that, because image Dell system already has all of its drivers and software support already and must "work".

The customer said she bought all Dell products during its latest updates in December 2010, but after talking to phone support for a previous issue, she said, that she'll never call Dell again. She brought to me hoping that I can square it. She said that if I can't do it, she'll go with HP for its planned next month, hardware upgrades, even if she really loved hardware Dell, just not the helpline.

Tom

So, your vision of Dell, the company will rely on how quickly responses are users of the volunteer forum... other users like you?  Cordially... this forum is NOT an official channel of support of Dell; Although there are some random Dell employees and some regulars acting as moderator, it is essentially a user forum.  For an official response and timely TO DELL, you will need to contact Support directly, by phone or chat.

Filter replacement is not so bad as you think.  Dell is not alone in sending does not... installation media almost all manufacturers have stopped shipping media.  I hate it as much as the next guy, but this is the reality today.  However, Dell makes it much easier than those of most of the OEM for this media.

You can request the media here for free:

support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

Alternatively, you can install with Retail media, then activate by phone using the license key on the computer:

www.mydigitallife.info/Download-Windows-7-ISO-Official-32-bit-and-64-bit-Direct-Download-Links

As for the Partition recovery... it works don't may not be for many reasons, including corruption of disk or files, modifying the boot files (dual-boot, repair, the new disk cloning), etc.  When this works, it's great - fast, don't have to mess with drivers, software, etc. - but unfortunately, he is also prone to error as any other computer software.  I never saw your particular problem and don't imagine that you have a lot of options left to fix.

The Inspiron N4010 system supports dual channel DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM with speeds of 1333 MHz memory.

    1. Yes, brand RAM memory Kingston (KVR13S9S8/4) is compatible with your system. You can install the 2 GB of DDR3 RAM on the slot 1 and memory of Kingston on the slot 2.

  • Display of garbage on Dell Inspiron 14R N4010

I have an Inspiron 14R (N4010) since Oct 2011 and primary I use it for applications of music such as the software of DJing and music production/editing software. I also used to browssing the net and some small games online. No other games are installed in it. Last month, he showed signs of freezing of the graphics. I've always had forced restarts when the screen froze. I had checked it and the tech guys open because he has also noticed that the Palm on the left side heats up pretty quickly. The fan was almost completely blocked with dust that is built like a carpet on the inside. It caused more than heating the radiator and the Council. So he cleaned up and back together. Heat problem disappeared but graphic gel still occurred from time to time.

Two weeks ago the display become unreadable in a few minutes, the graphics have become garbage. I brought it to a computer repair shop, and they said that the only way to resolve this should re-ball of the chip of the card. My laptop graphics card is ATI Radeon 550v

Last week, I was forced to buy a newer laptop which is the 14R N5437 (my third Dell laptop since 2005) because I can't have ANY. But I'd still like my fixed N4010 as I'll use just at home.

    My question is:

    1. How safe and how much he would finally have the re-Motte chip?

    2. is there a way for me to replace the card with a new appliance or 2nd hand.

The cards cost less than $100

which is probably cheaper than a repair, assuming that you can replace the Board yourself.

  • can I upgrade my Dell Inspiron 14R N4010 HDD SDS?

    Hello

I do intend to upgrade Dell inspiron n4010 SATA hdd to SSD, is it possible?

If so it would be simply plug-out and plugin or you would have a few extensions?

    Thanks in advance.

You can simply replace in a 2.5 SSD "and reload Windows or clone your existing operating system (the former requires that make you a set of recovery media it will require other hardware and software).

Replacing the hard drive on this model requires a bit of disassembly - including the abolition of the system board.  Make sure that you are comfortable with the level of work:

  • Pure install Dell Inspiron 14R N4010

I'm having great trouble to do a clean install on my laptop. I have run all Diagnostics. I have the original installation disc and I even tried the Win7 Iso from microsoft. Thinking maybe the installation disc was bad. When I do the install, it goes through all but the final step. It restarts to resume Setup. But she keeps only the facility for a few minutes before he gives a BSOD. It then restarts and when it's done restart it says that cannot continue the installation. This happens every time. I worked on it for more than a week. I have no idea where to go from here. I have no idea what I can do wrong. I'm pretty good with computers and have never had difficulty making a facility like this before.

I would greatly appreciate any help

    Bill

It is without doubt the Malware that slowed the computer down and prevented reinstall it. Ubuntu has a format better that the Windows disc so wipe the malware and allowing installation.

DBAN Darik Nuke and Boot and is a utility that securely erases the hard drive of all data. It is essentially the most through free format, and I advise to use it when its a Malware program was suspected or computer is given out or sold.

  • Dell Inspiron 14R WLAN Card disabled

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 14R running under Windows 7 64-bit. I had my PC from last November; about 7 months.

I was with my PC, and all of a sudden, I started having problems with wireless. I was unable to get on the internet. Other devices on my wireless network are able to connect to our network, but it is not relevant because my radio was not picking up anything at all, when he was still in the same place. The connection worked very well using an ethernet cable. After that is the problem, my Targus Bluetooth mouse also stopped working.  That's what I tried:

    1. Enter the Network Center and sharing, disabling my network card and then allowing him once again. This is usually the case. After having it more than 5 times, it never worked.
    2. Do a simple system restore. I tried to restore 3 different times for an update in the last week, each of them failed (probably another issue altogether).
    3. Re-install my NIC driver wireless and then restarting. This does not solve the problem.
    4. Check the Device Manager. He said that the wireless card worked properly.
    5. With the help of the DW WLAN CARD Utility. It says on the Link Status tab, after the State of the connection, Radio disabled. I tried right-clicking on the icon in my Notification area and then clicking turn on the transceiver. He then shows an alert saying that "the wireless network card is always disabled. Use the wireless switch or the hotkey to activate it. "By pressing Fn + F2, which is also supposed to allow the radio is nothing, without any action or whatever it is sign of Windows. I also tried to run tests under the Diagnostics tab. All the tests of transmitted material, with the connection test again for giving me this alert: "the wireless network card is always disabled. Use the wireless switch or the keyboard shortcut to activate"and then failing. When you run the diagnostics of CCX Client is the same thing.

What should I do? The problem is obvious that my card is disabled, as all signs point to that. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this? I have tried everything I know, not to mention countless Google searches.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Welcome to the community. On the Inspiron N4010, use the F2 key to activate wireless on or off. Use Windows Mobility Center in Control Panel to check the status of the wireless connection.

    Thank you

Buy a USB hub. They are inexpensive; Amazon has them from $5.99

They transform into a USB port into several, as an extension or a cube

  • Will not respond XPS 15 F8 key to restore factory image

Have a XPS L501X 15 I'm cleaning up to part with. Have all my personal data offshore and uninstalled all the software, which I have added. Went to my Dell online manual for restoring factory image whose starting point was to press the F8 key when the Dell logo appears, to access the advanced boot options. Have done so several times during the past 20 years with my Dell computers, usually F2 for access settings. This computer works well when I hit F2 for Setup and F12 for boot options. But he will not answer the F8 key to bring up the options of early start had to do the original image. Have tried 30 times or almost and it just keeps loading windows. y at - it another way to access this screen, or something else I can try. I have had no other problems with the computer. Ran the Dell hardware diagnostics and everything this past... Loooked in the D partition and it appears the Dell image restore files are all there, I just can't get the F8 to get to them. I made no changes or done anything with the D partition, and the hard drive is the original.

You must press F8 several times similar to what I've done here:

I found in the operative setting a dubious wifi adapter, I rolled it back to the previous version, I can now see some possible wifi options, but still if I now add cable icant get all internet.

I totally want to reset the settings to factory, but unable to do?

You said this system Win 8 lance on this laptop.
As far as I know this laptop Satellite L750D-14R was pre-installed with Win 7 64 bit OS.
This means that the HARD drive recovery process does not work because the contents of the HARD drive and partitions have been changed!

To retrieve the computer laptop back to factory settings, you should the Toshiba Recovery disk/medium. If you have not created this disk then you can order it here:
    http://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/

In any case, I guess that the connection to the LAN does not work due to driver LAN problem.
I recommend you to uninstall the network driver (in Device Manager) and download the latest driver LAN available from the Toshiba UE driver page.

After installation of the driver LAN restart the laptop.

    Hello

A key on the keyboard of my laptop did not work. I checked that it was a problem on the keyboard, so I bought a new. I removed my keyboard before, so I thought that it wasn't a problem. So I installed a new one, everything is ok. Then I turned off my laptop and saw that the keyboard has been aligned, so I moved it a little more. Now both new and old keyboard does not work. The connector looks fine, but I am not a technician. I tried reinstalling the driver, but they don't always work.

    Any ideas?

    In descending order of probability:

Not start replace the AC adapter.  Use an adapter AC OEM Dell ONLY - NOT a third-party adapter.

If this does not resolve the problem, replace the power connector on the system:

And if this does not resolve the problem, replace the motherboard.
