Dell Inspiron 9400 display problem

Hi all

Last Tuesday, on the left side of the screen, a vertical black stripe about one and a half inches wide is appeared, the next day, that he had changed to a thin black vertical line has appeared in the middle of the screen.

I did the full diagnostic tests and they all came "passed."

This line has no effect on the functioning of the laptop but I fear that it may get worse.

I tried everywhere for a solution without success.

The screen must be replaced.

  • Cannot turn on my wifi on a dell inspiron 9400

We bought the linksys wrt54gs and all is well with our 2 other laptops to connect to the internet. I can't activate my wifi on dell inspiron 9400, in order to connect wireless. I think that this is supposed to be fn f2, to allow, but who doesn't.

    Help, please...

What symbol is blue on your F2 key?

    (1) a radio station antenna?

    (2) a battery?

    (3) others?

If you do not have a radio station antenna, then look for a switch turn on your wireless adapter.  If you have a switch, it should be located on the side of the computer.  If you have a switch, turn on the light of Wi - Fi to your computer on and outside.

In addition, have messed about in the Bios of your computer?  If so, then maybe you accidentally turned off your card wireless in the bios of your computer.

In addition, on some computers, you can disable the card wireless in your wireless network card settings (double-click on the bottom wireless icon on the right).  Then click here to see if your wireless card is turned off.

Also, in Device Manager, where you found "Use this device (enabled)" - set to 'disable', restart the computer and then reset "enable" and see if that helps.

  • Dell Inspiron 9400 and the charger has stopped working.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 and the charger has stopped working. I looked on the Dell support site and they sell no spare Chargers.  I looked on ebay and they are inundated with Chargers dell from £ 6 to £99.    But how can I be sure that they will not be some sloppily made Chinese clone that will burn my house!

I would have a go to repair the charger If Dell has not seen fit to the heat of welding the two halves closed!

You can search a person selling a genuine Dell PA10 adapter.  This is what you need.

  • Dell Inspiron N5010 display not working (Maybe)...

When I press the power button, my laptop beeps 8 times... screen stays black... Please help

    Hi Joydeep001,

Dell Inspiron N 5010 with 8 beeps indicates the LCD or the failure of the LCD screen cable. However, ask you to try following the below steps that might help:

    (1) turn off your computer.

    (2) remove all external devices such as adapter, USB key, battery, etc.

    (3) press and hold the power for 30 seconds button, freeing up of static electricity on the computer (if any).

    (4) now replace the battery and plug the charger.

    (5) let the load on the computer for awhile.

    (6) now try to turn on the computer if the same problem occur, then you can use an external monitor and check to see if the same problem happens.

    (7) if the monitor works then you can try to run a diagnostics of material using the link below:

Make a note of the error code that is displayed (if any). Do not respond with your answers.

  • Dell Inspiron 2650 display scrambled until the computer "warms up".

    Hello.

I own a Dell Inspiron 2650 that just ran out of international warranty on Aug 3 months :-(. The laptop is about 5 years old. One morning I turned it on, and there were lines everywhere in the monitor. The lines kept 'dance' and the computer became unusable at this time. I turned off the coast and I replaced the RAM of the computer (at first, I suspected that RAM memory may be faulty, since I had a desktop computer that have had similar problems and it was solved by replacing the RAM; and in the laptop, some video memory is shared with the RAM).

Change the RAM has NOT fixed the problem. I tried all possible combinations: 2 different types of RAM that I had to hang out, different RAM slots (the Dell Inspiron 2650 has 2 slots), everything. Nothing has worked.

I then waited patiently for the episode to repeat itself, and when it did, I plugged an external CRT monitor. The image in the external monitor looked the same - so it wasn't a monitor problem - he had to be the motherboard or graphics card related. Another thing that might be interesting, is at the same time, I had a few MP3 stopped playing music on the computer, and when the music was the problem, so it doesn't seem to be just an innocent only display problem.

I disassembled the laptop and pulled out the NVIDIA Geforce2 Go video card and put back on the motherboard, made sure all the screws holding the video card to the motherboard are tight and made sure the strip of the screen to the video card is connected properly. I made sure that the keyboard is properly connected to the motherboard, and nothing seems to fragile or irrelevant.

But the problem happened again. And here's the clincher: if I just put the computer for 15 minutes and let it "warm up", then I reboot, it seems to work fine after that. In fact, he needs to warm up. Which would also govern the video card? I've seen computers that crashed when the video card EU hot, not unless HE had hot...

So for now I just do this little dance every morning: I turn on the computer for about 15 minutes, restart and do my thing with her. But I would love to get it fixed.

If you have assumptions or certainties about why this can happen, please let me know how to fix it.

    Thanks for reading!

  • Dell Inspiron 3537, few problems

    Hello.

I have an old Dell Inspiron 3537 of a few weeks. Was first Win8, but I have the update Win8.1.

After that I signed up for laptop computer, the next step was to my C: partition on both sides of the partition, partition C (OS) and D (Data). After that, I installed successfully all the programs I need. And after a few days problems began with a few BSoD. There are few problems and I'll explain all of them.

My Dell checkup "troubleshooting blue screen" reports every day one or more BSoD with explanation:
"The unknown hit-and-run driver (C:Windows/system32/drivers/atikmdag.sys) seems to have caused a system crash. Perform the tasks below to help prevent unexpected stops in the future".

On the same health check of my Dell, I try to run "PC Checkup", and everything seems OK, no reported problem. A personalized analysis on a single card, ATI (ATI Radeon HD8850) video and the result is 'passed '.
I run also build in DELL diagnostics (boot menu) and there were no errors, and also Dell diagnostics online and everything was fine.

I try to install the new driver from DELL (AMD Radeon HD 8850 M pilot 13.151.0.0) website, but during the installation screen blinked several times and then went away. I think it's OK because the video driver installed. I left phone for an hour to "complete installation", but noting happened. I turned off laptop by pressing ON / OFF button for 5 seconds, but after this laptop won't restart. Here, I noticed another problem that I will share with you in the moment. Fortunately, I have installed Acronis True Image 2014 so I was able to restore a system. BTW, same version of the driver is already installed according to the "MSINFO32).

Now, my system works, I still see the BSoD warning in my Dell Checkup, but actually I don't really see this BSoD. Strange.
If I click with the right button on the desktop and then click on "Property Graphics" or "Configure switchable graphics", I get this warning:

Second problem. My laptop during "BLACKOUT" explained beforehand, I tried to use Windows Recovery. I tried "Refresh" and "Resettlement" and both times I got the message:

"Could not find the recovery environment. "Insert the recovery media or your Windows installation and restart your PC with the media.

If I try to use "Backup and recovery of Dell", I received the message:

"Dell backup / restore could not detect the Partition Recovery on this computer." It may be missing or damaged. To recover your computer to the original factory condition and restore the recovery partition, please use your system recovery disk"etc. etc...

I don't have any coz discs that OS was preinstaled. So, basically I can't use all the facilities to recover my laptop because I have no media or recovery factory recovery disc. Fortunately, I'm using Acronis, but it's not a point. I want something to recover my original system, factory condition.

In fact, Windows catering facilities are OK and I can restore to a point, I created.

BTW, my hard drive is partitioned on 7 partitions. Initially, there were 6 partitions with immense C: partition. I shared this one on two.

And also, since this BSoD is probably caused by the video driver, how can I safely to update this driver. As explained previously, I had after the first test disaster. Can I try to install the new driver for AMD Radeon HD 8850 M from the ATI site?

Sorry for the question so long. If you have additional questions, I'll be more than happy to answer.

I hope that I will get answers, thanks in advance!

  • Dell Inspiron 1525 webcam problem.

I use a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop since 2008 and now the webcam is not working. I noticed that when I turned on the laptop, I get a flashlight blue color on the left side of the webcam, but now I do not understand that the blinking light. I installed the drivers from the dell support center webcam, but still it does not work. I bought this from a GCC country & now I'm in Sri Lanka, so I'm in two minds whether to get this repaired here or no reasoning that I don't know somewhere appropriate here. It'll be a big help, if I get a solution for this online.

  • How can I disable the 'auto play' settings on my laptop built in SD card reader? I use Windows XP and it is a DELL INSPIRON 9400 laptop

When I use a card reader external to see pictures on a CF card is not a problem, it gives me options to choose what need do is what I want my internal card reader to do, any help, advice or solutions would be very welcome for all your technicians over there.

Follow the procedure described in the following article:

"How to disable the Windows Autorun feature"

There is a section in this article "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features", but you can disable it only based on the "Type" of the player.  What you can find, is that your CF card reader goes up as a 'removable disc' then your SD reader rises up like a 'fixed reader' (or vice versa) and it is the determining factor on the behavior that you get.
