Dell Studio XPS 1647 speakers not working not

Hello, on my Studio XPS 1647 speakers suddenly stopped working. I started it yesterday to the top and there is no sound. Speakers they are silent, but will not reactivate. I downloaded the latest driver and have had no luck even after several reboots. Anyone know what could be the cause?

Try to use the system restore Windows (type in the search box system restore) and choose a date of before yesterday when you first noticed the problem.

Also, make sure the Windows Audio Service. (type services.msc in the box.) Scroll down to Windows Audio Service in the list and make sure it is running and set to automatic.

  • Dell Studio XPS 435mt does not - light light orange card mother

I had my Studio XPS 435mt for recent years and love it! Normally I leave my machine on almost every day all day so I can access it remotely. Well, today my power went out (the product is connected to a good surge protector) and now it won't turn back on.

When I plug it in there is a green light to the rear of the machine and internally, there is a orange light, which lights up. When I press the power button nothing happens, not even try to power on. I read a few forums that suggest all of a new power supply, a new motherboard and even a job to 'put your motherboard in the oven' random.

So my question is can I do anything to check what the problem is? Also, if it of a motherboard problem and needs to be replaced, where is the best place to get a motherboard? Reference Dell sells to them directly or I have to go to a 3rd party to track down?

Thank you in advance for your help!

A type of power surge Strip does nothing to protect the PC during a power failure.  You need a 'UPS' unit to protect the PC during short power outages (most).

As he ran, anything could have happened to the power supply to the motherboard to a component on the motherboard.

As you have the power to 'keep' alive on the card mother, indicated by orange LED, power supply works somewhat.  Unplug the power connector 24 pins on the motherboard.  Then the rider GREEN wire to a BLACK wire and see if the power turns on (fan running).  If it does, it does not say the PSU is good (only replace it with a known good power is the only true test for a power supply), but it does not say the rotation of the problem is not in the power.  If it does not start, food is the likely problem.

If the power supply lights the other most likely problem is the motherboard.  Reinstall (unplug and plug back in) the prior panel connector on the motherboard and then give it a try. If it still does not respond, the motherboard is suspect.  The power switch, itself, would be a very remote problem.

Dell is a source for a replacement motherboard.  There are sites that sell Dell used/given to nine motherboards and ends up with a google search.  Only another mother of exact replacement fit and work.

Finally, regardless of the tests do or anything that seems as it isolates a certain part, unfortunately only to replace the part really tell you if it's bad.  To avoid buying something you don't need you can make to a PC repair center renamed to what is really wrong.

  • Studio XPS 1647 and Windows 8

    Hello

I want to install Microsoft Windows 8 on my Dell Studio XPS 1647. It will work? I checked the download page for this computer and there is no drivers for this laptop Windows 8... Has anyone tried installing Windows 8 on Studio XPS?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Radpl,

The Studio XPS 1647 has not been tested by Dell with Windows 8. However if you use Windows 7 on your system avoid compatibility problems.

After the official launch of Windows 8, October 26, 2012, drivers may be available on the Dell support site. However, you can always check the site of the manufacturer for the appropriate drivers. You can also consult the following link for more information on the upgrade of Windows 8. http://Dell.to/SyrDsU You can also see the article: 575111 on www.support.dell.com for upgrade of Windows 8 help.

    Just reply to other questions.

  • Studio XPS 8100 Wifi not recognize connections

Hello, I recently moved to College with my Dell Studio XPS 8100. The school offers wifi, which I can connect to a bit on my laptop, telephones and even consoles. However, my computer tower in the same exact place can't save even that wifi connections exist.

While the school wifi does not seem to use some sort of proxy, I can locate and connect to it fine on my laptop Dell Inspiron positioned at the same place as my turn, so I don't think there is a problem with the routers or the school wifi connection. There are also other close connections (my roommate printer, wifi from a neighbor) that are independent of the school which are also not be picked up by my computer. Only, he has a red X over the wifi symbol and said that no connection is available.

While at home, I had no problem and the unit has not changed since then. I don't think there is a wifi external change, so I don't think I fell anything during the move. (But if I'm wrong, please let me know).

As far as I can tell, I've checked the Device Manager, all the drivers seem to be activated and functioning. I tried a system restore to the week last to see if an update may have changed something, but it had no effect. I also went to the Dell drivers & downloads and downloaded and installed the latest network driver (1525 Wireless Atheros WLAN Mini Card Desktops, v.8.0.0.376, A02) which was available for my model. It also did not help.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, a computer without wifi does me no good so I'm banging my head on the wall trying to figure this one out.

Well, I must say that I am a little disappointed that I have not received a response from the help here. Way to go Dell. Really feel the 'support '.

I love how a problem one sentence posted a few days later got more than 100 responses. Maybe next time I not giving all the details of the sentence and just say "my wifi is not working help me please?

Anyway, pretty passive aggressive. For anyone who comes across this post with the same problem, here is how I fixed it:

I jumped open the computer because I was sure it was a hardware problem, and of course, there was a layer of dust on my ethernet card and connection strips but seemed dull and did not make a good connection. Carefully, I removed the card and cleaned, replace it. I also made sure my antenna that comes with the computer has been fully connected (believe me, this tour can not pick up wifi at all without them, to ensure that the antenna is in!)

A few reboots later and he remained in service.

  • External port eSATA Studio XPS 9100 does not

    Hi all

I have a Dell Studio XPS 9100and external eSATA port does not work or it is not detected. I have a Seagate FreeAgent external drive and it can't detected, and it is NOT power up when I plug it into the eSATA port. The FreeAgent drive works fine as it is detected on my laptop Dell Studio XPS 1645eSATA port. The drive is detected on the 9100 when I use the USB cable to the drive (plugged into a USB port, of course).

I tried to do some research online and some suggestions were to activate via the BIOS eSATA port, but the eSATA port is enabled in the BIOS. The wrong driver is installed on the device? I see the Intel ICH10 Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller-3 has 22 in the Device Manager. Is this the right driver to recognize the external eSATA port or is there something else wrong with the 9100?

Does anyone think that the external eSATA port requires an external drive with its own power supply? The 9100 is a 2010 model year environment, but I think it should not require a player with an external power supply.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hi all

I grabbed an eSATA disk that has its own power supply (AC adapter) and trendy source on eSATA back port and he recognized the car.

It seems that the Dell Studio XPS 9100 has of an old eSATA port requiring a drive eSATA that she is clean in order to be energy source active on its external eSATA port. If you try to use a disk without its own power supply eSATA it won't work because the former eSATA ports enabling the way as the USB ports and the new USB ports hybrid eSATA . My laptop Dell Studio XPS 1645 a hybrid one of these ports so apparently it is why my Seagate FreeAgent working on it and NOT on the 9100 desktop. You can't plug a USB cable in the 9100 eSATA port certainly isn't a hybrid eSATA port.

I guess I solved my own question.

  • Dell studio xps 1645 sound driver IDT works only when it is installed.

I have the dell studio xps 1645 with windows 7 home premium 64-bit installed on. I have a problem since I format the laptop and reinstalled windows 7 and driver.

The problem is that with the IDT sound card driver. When I start up the laptop, I couldn't find any noise until then I install the IDT audio driver which is from the website of dell (dell.com.au) under the drivers of dell studio xps 1645 by download. Sounds appears when I installed this driver, but it is not as it should. I mean whenever I do reboot or turn off and then on the laptop, the sound will not come up to what I do reinstall the driver again. The thing is that I have to reinstall the driver whenever I want to use the laptop. can you help me out of this problem? is there any solution for this? I did some research until I get the way to recover my sound, but yes I'm stuck with this relocation pilot to use sound. I did troubleshooting of windows and he said nothing wrong with it. I'll also technician support close to home and they couldn't find anything wrong. I therefore ask microsoft in the hope that they know the way

    . Thank you.

    Hi Felix,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I understand that the sound of your system plays only after you update the audio drivers. The question could arise due to the installation of the corrupt or incompatible driver package.

Before troubleshooting, I would like to inform you that the drivers for the model of your system on the Dell Web site are displayed for Windows Vista, by default. So, I recommend you to change the operating system to Windows 7 while choosing for pilots.

In addition, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try running the fixit for audio playback of Windows problems and check if it helps.

Diagnose and solve the problems of Windows audio playback automatically

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

If you have installed Windows 7 drivers from the website and have not properly been able to play the audio, then I suggest you to install the Windows Vista drivers from Dell site in compatibility mode and check for the issue.

    1. Download the Windows Vista driver on the Dell website.
    2. Right-click on the downloaded driver file.
    3. ClickProperties , and then select the compatibility tab.
    4. Check enable the option run this program in compatibility mode for: , then select Windows Vista from the drop down.
    5. Click OK and install the driver.

  • DELL Studio XPS 1645 Windows XP Audio drivers

    Hello guys,.

I desperately need drivers for my DELL Studio XPS 1645 Windows XP Pro SP3 compatibility

I know that 32 bit OS does not work well with my processor and RAM, so do not mention please, I use this for the programming of the car.

Tried ABSOLUTELY everything imaginable I stumbled upon Web sites after searching, but didn't help at all :(

No sound from speakers, no sound in the headphones, nothing...

    Guys, H E L P :(

Dell gets from the provider, IDT HD drivers. I don't know exactly how the procurement process, but I guess that when Dell order equipment for a specific system, drivers for operating systems that Dell intends to support are included in the order. If it's something like this then of course a manager can later allow the expense of having a driver written for an operating system that is not supported on a discontinued model.

The operating system of this forum section has a driver request thread. Someone there might know of an alternative audio driver which might work on your system.

One solution is to get an adapter usb audio.

I don't know what "join" - it's something to do with virtual XP?

  • (Redirected) Error POST LED codes laptop Studio XPS 1647

(I posted this on the forum of portable equipment, but it has been a few days so far that there is no help yet).

    Symptom:

Studio XPS 1647 computer laptop cannot start after POST and pasted to the Dell screen with about 80 percent progress bar. After that now the FN key and press the power button to start ePSA, all three volumes would be flashes two times, immediately followed by the MUTE LED flashing layout and then jump, followed by up and down LEDs + turn signals and the volume upward the LED switches off the coast and then just the Volume Down LED flashing continuously. The fan is switched on immediately after the PSA starts at slow speed, and then it runs faster after a few seconds with the noises.

My Studio XPS 1647 has recently had overheating problems, and sometimes they would cause BSOD. A reboot after BSOD shows always broke the screen images. The BSOD has always come with error bcode 116: it's apparently related video card. Last weekend so I opened the case, removed the radiator and fan. The event of heat sink was completely blocked with a thick layer of dust, so it is no wonder the overheating. I have cleaned the vent system to the radiator and fan, cleaned the top of the processor and the upper part of the GPU chip, the shape of base paste heat and everything back together. After that, the machine could not go to the Dell splash screen at startup.   I already checked the discussions and followed suggestions on holding down the power button to remove static, the reinstallation of the memory card, etc., but they are of no use.

The following video shows the locking POST LED codes:

  • Question of graphics Dell Studio XPS 8100

I plan to upgrade my desktop computer Dell Studio XPS 8100 with a new graphics card, so that I can play new games such as Skyrim and Star Wars the old republic.

Can someone tell me which of these cards is best for this purpose, corresponds to my computer and if other changes are needed (ideally no)?

    EVGA GTX 550 VGA (GDDR5, PCI-Express, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6750 (PCI Express, DDR3, 2 GB)
    Sapphire 6790 (PCI-Express, GDDR5, 1 GB)
PALIT GTX 550 Ti (GDDR5, PCI Express, 1 GB)

    Thanks in advance,

    Sikkaech

Based on the recommended for Skyrim card, you will need to go with the HD 6790 or GTX 550 it.  However, your biggest problem is food that is only 350 watts.  For all these cards, a higher power is recommended by the manufacturer.  The HD 6790 is the best on the list with the GTX 550 Ti in 2nd.  I'll take the other two on your list because they would fall the recommended card, but they would always play the games.   I would recommend if you upgrade the power supply to go with a unit of minimum mark of 500 watts with the necessary connections.

Skyrim recommended card: 1 GB RAM NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).  Old video card then the ones I showed would be comparable.

If you choose not to change your diet, a GTS 450 or HD 6750 can work.  I don't see much interest to get a card of 2 GB to this level.  It's going to be better than GDDR3 memory GDDR5.

  • Dell Studio XPS too noisy!

I have a Dell Studio XPS 9000 with a Radeon 5870 graphics card that makes too much noise. I think it is the fan noise. I called technical support, which replaced two fans. Did not help - if anything, it is now more noisy he was! All idling, it is not quiet.

The system is about a year. (Is there more than the 2 fans in the system by the way?)

    (1) can anyone suggest how this system down?

    (2) I contacted a vendor third 3d that makes fans more silent, so-called, but the seller must exact model or type numbers or something Dell fans. Does anyone know how to find out exactly what kind of fans are in the Dell XPS and also exactly what solutions third-party 3d for quieter fans there are, if any?

It is also an old thread, you should start a new one.

I assume you mean a Studio XPS 9000.

This model according to the configuration guide, has no onboard video and no on-board video port is shown in the figure on page 20 of this installation guide. If you cannot select video...

What do you mean by "the noise of the fan? It's just the fan spins at high speed or is it squealing or some other noise?

You can open the case and make sure the fan and vents are clean. Use canned air to blow 5 - year-old dust of all components.

And if this started after a recent update of MS, you can consult the Web of AMD site for an updated driver for the video card today, that works with any version of Windows that you are using before you spend money unnecessarily.

  • Cannot start Dell Studio XPS 9100 - is the PSU?

These symptoms are compatible with a faulty PSU?

I have a 4 years, processor Dell Studio XPS Desktop Intel i7 960 (expired warranty) 18 GB DIMM: 64 Bit Windows 7 ultimate OS.

Computer will not start. (Dell 0M1J3H 525W) POWER supply has a green LED on the back of the envelope of the computer with a black switch diagnosis. When the computer reads the green light is on.

If I press the Start button nothing happens - the white light on the Start button does not illuminate. But if I press the button to start for at least 12 seconds then release and press it again the logo Dell at the edge of the bezel turns on for a second and the fans turn at 20 degrees, but the computer does not start and there is no light on the Start button. The same thing happens if I press the black test on the power supply switch after the button of start for about 12 seconds. If I quickly press the test switch repeatedly from 40 to 50 times, four fans will turn a little bit but stop as soon as I stop to press the test switch. If a power is to learn in the light of the collar and the fans, but the computer starts and the green light does not go or flash. As directed by Dell, the green light is supposed to be activated when the current flows through the power supply and the green light is supposed to flash if I press the test switch when the computer is turned off.

More Dell' diagnostic instructions I disconnected the motherboard and all the readers and the video card in the PSU, but the test was always negative, that would normally indicate a defective power supply.

However, if the front bezel blinking on and fans to be powered for a fraction of a second, which excludes a failure of the power supply?

GENERAL INFORMATION: One night several months ago fans have started racing as the computer was overclocking but my meter showed only 30% CPU usage. Computer subsequently began to lose power and restart at random times.  No crash dumps or stop. Just a loss of power and a reboot. Sometimes the auto restart would work and sometimes it wouldn't. When the computer restarts will not it will not re-start and there was no light white or orange, when I pressed the Start button. If I hold the start 12 seconds or more and then released it and press start logo collar flash momentarily, but no start and no other light. I would try restarts several times, sometimes by pressing the button start hundreds of times before the computer would finally boot. When you start the computer it would normally sometimes several days before losing power again.

The last restart was more than a week and the computer normally lasted more than a week until yesterday when he lost power.

I think that the power supply may be bad. But the only other time that I replaced a power supply on an old HP Pavilion. In this case, the computer was completely dead. I'm confused by the momentary illumination of the Dell logo on the collar and the shaking of the power to the fans. Which excludes a failure or default PSU?

The button BIST says that the power supply is bad.  The BIST button isn't the power button.

The LED on the back does not mean that the power supply is good.

The BIST (built in Self test) is LED and button are for.
